Alright so here is the thing. My original purpose for this story were Chrome one-shots so i would still like to do that but through here. I will make them small and i hope they will satisfy you when i am stuck on the main story. They'll be mostly comedic and family-friendly bringing all of the characters into the shorts, EVEN THE TOMASO FAMILIGA!so if there is anything you personally would like to see (it can be totally unrelated to the story, i can just make it a new story if it's an AU or pairing) just PM me and i'll see if i can write it!
I do not own Katekyo Hitman Reborn
She is so weird. This Chrome Dokuro; I can't understand her at all. I remember we met when we were fighting those powerful zombies – Vindice, right? – And she made me use my illusions. It was odd, she wasn't big or scary; that woman was as thin as a stick. But she scared me that day when I refused to help her. All she did was yell my name and I felt scared, not for my life but for something else I cannot figure out yet. My illusions can prevent most attacks from harming me so why was I afraid of her? What could she do to me?
When I asked about her, nobody gave me a straight answer. Master Mukuro said I replaced her, which sounded like a great fortune for her honestly. M.M growled at me and walked away with an ugly scowl, I don't know what she said but it sounded like she did not like Chrome Dokuro. Chikusa, who could answer any question I had with a blunt dullness, did not say a word and went on with his business. And Ken called her stupid and howled and whined, insulting her in many ways, curiously pinker than before.
It all sounded like they hated Chrome. But that's not the case either. She came to Kokuyo Health Land one day and she was very happy to walk into the grimy building. I remembered her in a Kokuyo Uniform but now she wore civilian garb. If it wasn't for her eye patch and spear she would look like a normal person, a background character manga artists used to fill in busy streets. Do those characters have lives of their own? Do they do things that Chrome does too? I never thought about this. Do they have adventure even more exciting than the hero's?... What is that smell?
Chrome.
It was Chrome.
Chrome was walking into the theatre room. Most of us like to stay there since Mukuro is always there too. I followed her from the hall, using Mist Flames to cover my presence as she opened the doors to the room. The expressions on everyone as she came in were odd. At first, I thought it was normal. Ken barked angrily at her, M.M stood tall trying to look down on her, Chikusa ignored her, and the Master looked at her with a condescending grin. But then, as if all of them hypocrites to their word, they began talking; talking with much more civility than with me.
"How are you Chrome?" Mukuro's voice filled the room, he spoke like I never replaced Chrome at all and she was always a part of the gang.
"I am fine, thank you." Her voice was soft like petals, quiet like a breeze. How could I have been afraid of a woman with a voice like that?
Then, without another word, she set down a basket filled with food. It was all warm and baked and… was that apple pie? Did I smell that?
Ken was the first to pounce on the arrangement, there were meat snacks inside and he made sure to eat them in one go. Everyone followed his example and began to pull all their favourite items from the basket. The apple pie was taken hostage and I almost yelped if not for the fact I was trying to be incognito.
Everyone was enjoying Chrome's meal with no argument or regret. Were all their reactions just a show? Their acting has improved ten-fold I had to admit. Mukuro called to Chrome to join them but she refused with the slightest of bows. She then walked to exit the building and I decided to follow her. Once we came to a stop right at the doors of the front exit, she turned around in my general direction. I looked behind me to see what she was looking at but literally nothing strange was there. It then dawned to me I was caught.
Chrome began walking towards me keeping something behind her back. She was going to attack, was this jealousy that I took Mukuro away from her? If that's the problem she can have him, I have no qualms with that. I decided to defend myself, dispersing the Flames I used as a disguise I created a hammer ten times my height and weighing from 1 to 2 tonnes.
When it finally formed, Chrome's face was less than a centimetre away from mine. I then tipped back and fell flat on my back with my apple cushioning my head. The hammer dissipated back into Flames as my concentration went from eliminating a threat to that woman is fast.
I waited for my demise, never attempting to look into her eye, probably filled with sadistic delight. I waited and waited and waited until I got bored and yawned. I then heard a giggle and I shot up to tell her to stop taking entertainment in my death. But then I saw her just foot away from me, crouched on her toes, holding a plate with a piece of pie on it. Apple pie.
She placed the pastry on my lap. It was still warm, had she heated it up with her flames?
"Mist Flames are not very powerful but they are still fire." The answer was: Yes.
"is it poisoned?" No use being around the bush, her flames could have done anything to that pie.
"I made sure Bianchi did not cook with me." Was that a code? What was a Bianchi?
After a while of eyeing her suspiciously, Chrome reached her hand to the plate and broke a piece off of the pie. She ate it with ease staring at me with reassurance.
Unfortunately, I was hungry and watching her eat had tipped the iceberg. I held the pie with one hand and took one heavy chomp from it.
Delicious, no pie this heavenly could ever be evil. Was she trying to kill me with pie so good heaven would take me away? I heard another giggle and I saw her stand up and glide to the exit.
"Goodbye Fran"
And she was gone.
It was weird. That event did not make me like her, but now I know I do not hate her.
Weird.
By the way, these extra chapters will be marked with something so watch out for those.
