Bellona couldn't help but sneer at the new member of their team. Zaeed Masani a mercenary. She didn't like mercenary's, to unpredictable, untrustworthy. Pay them enough credits and they will sell out their own mother.
More so, TIMY forgot to tell Shepard that she will need to do something for the Zaeed for his services. Figures, TIMY probably working and spilling the beans to everyone that Shepard is alive and kicking.
She shouldn't be surprised; she wonders what else he has in store for them. Bellona's eyes narrowed to slits and her face was stony as she watched Zaeed walk away.
"Is something wrong?" Miranda asked; she raised an eyebrow at her.
Bellona watched Zaeed turn at the corner, and shook her head. "It's nothing."
Shepard looked over her shoulder and looked at them. "Did you know about this?"
Bellona shook her head, "No, TIMY doesn't trust me with 'important stuff' unlike someone I knew…" She looked at Miranda as they started walking. Miranda rolled her eyes and glared at her.
"Don't look at me, I didn't know about this. And stop calling him that!" Miranda barked at Bellona who in turn just gave the charming smile at her.
Shepard raised an eyebrow, "TIMY?"
Bellona smirked, "short for The Illusive Men."
Shepard nodded her head, and chuckled. "True. Let's go and get this over with."
Bellona could help but give look smug at Miranda who in turn punched her in the gut.
The bullets fell all around them as they ran for cover. Miranda was kneeling down and taking out the men inside the room, while ducking for cover, Shepard on other hand was firing at everyone that was on her way. Bellona could help but be impressed; she saw the vids, but to see it firsthand…was disturbing. She starting to feel sorry for the guys around them, or the guy she would eventually date.
"Rose! Stop being lazy and get out from the cover and take out the guy on the other side of balcony!" Bellona heard Miranda bark at her, and could help but felt her eye twitching.
"I'm a freaking Agent and my work is being undercover! Not a front assault!" She rolled out of her cover and shut the guy right between his eyes. Then she threw the biotic grenades at the mobs standing close to stairs. Watching them blow up in different direction.
"Nice shot Agent!" Shepard said to her while she took one of the mercenary's in the old fashion way, fist to the face.
"Thanks." Bellona said cheerfully back.
"Move up the stairs!" Shepard barked her orders.
"Roger that!"
"Moving!"
Bellona run up fallowing closely by Miranda as Shepard took out the guy at the doors. All three of them walked through the doors aiming their weapons at the lone figure at the balcony.
Bellona raised an eyebrow. Turian? And here I thought it would be some hot shot asari. Righ…
"Archangel?" Shepard called out though the Turian, only he raised his arm for silent. He fired one shot, and by the sound of bloody thumb of falling body, let's says the bullet made the mark.
Turian turned to them and pulled off his helmet. "Shepard, I thought you were dead."
Shepard eyes widen and she smiled "Garrus! What are you doing here?"
"Just keeping my skill sharp, a little target practice," Garrus said back to Shepard.
Bellona looked at Miranda and nudged her with her elbow. "The last time I saw him he was with a squad."
Miranda looked at Shepard and Garrus talking before turning to Bellona. "The bodies that were down stairs probably are the squad you saw."
Bellona whistled. "I wonder what happened to him."
Miranda shrugged her shoulders. Bellona rolled her eyes as the silence settled between them. Sometimes it was so hard to talk with Miranda. It's as if Miranda didn't want to talk with her. She couldn't help but feel a spark of anger in her gut.
Shepard turned back to them and ordered to take position on the balcony.
Bellona couldn't help but sigh. "I'm an Agent, my job is being Undercover…" She felt Miranda catch her arm and drug her down as bullets went flying over her head.
"Get to cover idiot."
"That why I said…"
"No time, start shooting."
"I hate you."
"Rose!"
"Alright, Alright…This is such a drag!"
Bellona hears something coming at them, suddenly the glass smashed at the other side of the room. A gunship was hovering in front of opened window as mercenary's began to drop though it. Bellona immediately dived for cover; Shepard took one of the Marcs out before she dived for cover too as did Miranda close to her.
"I though you took out that thing!?" Bellona shouted at Shepard.
"Seems like someone woke the guy up and repaired the ship"
"Great."
"I hate this job!"
The first wave was dealt with, there were a lot of bodies around them, and Bellona was exhausted. She was almost out of ammo.
She was breathing hard, and sweat covered her face. She looked at Miranda who was throwing the guys around with her biotic.
Maybe I should use mine as well. Bellona shook her head; she turned from the cover and fired at the mercenary that tried to get to Miranda from the other side.
Miranda looked down on the first floor and saw mercs coming from there.
"We got more downstairs."
"They are trying to flank us."
Bellona throws out three grenades that blow a few mercs apart. All the mercs were dealt with, before they heard, a Tarak's voice shouting Archangel that catches their attention.
Bellona saw rockets coming their way, one hitting Garrus, another at the wall closer to her, the blast of the rocket hit her and her body twirled and jerked as she fell. Time seems to slow down as she was falling through the window, it only took seconds for her to reach the wall and she knew that it was going to hurt. Her barriers protected her, so she was mostly alright, slightly, winded and disorientated as she lay there on the stairs, breathing hard. Ugh…my head. If I get any scars on my face, I'll kill that bastard. Fuck I think I broke my rib, or maybe two. Shit. I work under cover…I need a new line of work.
"Rose!?" she heard Miranda's voice calling out to her, Bellona blinked her icy-hazel eye.
"I'm okay, I think…" She replied back. She could hear her own heartbeat echoed in her ears, it beat so loudly. She was sure that everyone could hear it.
She groaned loudly as she got up on her feet, she swayed slightly, but managed to stand on her own two feet. Her rib cage hurt so much that she crossed one arm around it, and winced in pain. She could hear Shepard shouting for Joker.
"Normandy this is a ground team. We need an immediate shuttle on those co-ordinates."
Bellona could feel that the medigel in her suit helping her soothe her pain, she walked up the stairs and though the doors where the others were. She saw Garrus on the floor, green blood all around him, his breathing becoming rougher and she hoped that the Kodiak would get there soon.
Bellona was lying down on Miranda's bed, looking at the black void outside the window. She still could feel the pain from her ribs. Doctor Chakwas, was busy with Garrus, since he was more wounded then she was, so she had to bandage herself up.
She looked at the bandages on the right side of the bed, and tried to get up and could help but groan in pain.
She heard the door to Miranda's room open and then she could smell the scent in the air, roses. It was Miranda.
She heard a gasp, and turned to look At Miranda, and saw her frozen in place at her desk, looking at her, her icy blue eyes unreadable, as she looked at her naked form.
Bellona's eyes locked with Miranda's, "Sorry, I was just out of the shower and wanted to get my bandages, since Chakwas was busy with Garrus, and you were busy so…" She knows she was babbling…She could help herself. She felt like an idiot.
"I see. You should have told me." Miranda walked closer to her and sat down behind her; she took the bandages out of her hand, and applies medigel on her back and ribcage before bandaging her.
Bellona couldn't help but blush, and shiver. Damn it. Control yourself. "Sorry." She whispered softly.
Bellona felt Miranda head gently lowed onto her shoulder, her hair slightly tickling her back. Bellona could help but gulp, as a rosy blush went up on her cheeks. She felt arms surround her waist from behind.
"Miranda," Bellona couldn't help but ask softly.
"Just be quite for a moment." Miranda's whispered softly, into her back, as she hugged her from behind.
Bellona nodded her head, and stayed still, even though her ribs hurt, she didn't say anything, and she didn't know why Miranda was hugging her, while she was here, naked in her room. She didn't know, but she felt happy for this moment.
Just this one moment shared between both of them.
