A/N: liferscove2118: He did indeed turn the hot water off... neeeeealll: I do plan on elaborating more on the tattoos, the snake one in particular... just not yet!
I apologise about my update rate this week. I seem to have a number of exams and courses at the moment!
(I also apologise if there are areas of this chapter that don't make any sense... Doc manager has altered my layout and deleted a lot of words, so I'm manually having to go through it and correct it, so I may have missed bits!)
By the time everyone had made it to the kitchen for breakfast, Sue and Rob were there, drinking coffee and eating their cereal.
"Morning" Rob said as Ward lumbered in.
"Morning Rob. How's tricks?"
"Not too bad. So where is this young lady I hear you're going to make an honest woman out of?"
"She's talking Simmons into being her chief bridesmaid. She'll be in soon." He answered, grabbing a bowl and filling it with cereal.
He turned to see Fitz walk through the door.
"Fitz! I have a small job for you." He said.
"What do you need?"
"That to fit Skye's finger!" Ward said, tossing Fitz the ring box.
"What's in it for me?" Fitz asked, waggling his eyebrows.
"Best Man?" Ward offered in a questioning way while Fitz nearly choked on his coffee.
Skye, Simmons and Amber all came into the kitchen at that point. Skye walked over to Fitz and smacked him on the back while Simmons walked over to Ward and lifted the back of his shirt, while he threw a dirty look at Skye.
Rob and Sue watched this interaction with curiosity.
"We are a very close knit team." Coulson said from the door, seeing the looks on the neighbour's faces and correctly interpreting them. "And Simmons is our team Medic." He finished.
He was followed in the door by May.
"What did you do?" Sue asked concerned. He was obviously receiving some sort of treatment.
"Fell down the stairs. It's just bruising."
"I agree. You need to take it easy for a couple of days and apply lots of ice." Simmons concluded, pulling Ward's shirt down and getting a cup of coffee.
"So have you set a date yet?" Rob asked.
"Eight weeks Friday." Skye said from the chair next to Fitz.
Rob looked at her.
"Sorry, Rob, this is Skye, Skye this is Rob, Sue's husband." Ward said, quickly realising he'd not introduced them.
"Eight weeks? I think all of us girl's had better go dress shopping!" Sue shrieked.
Sue ushered the girls out of the house and into her car shortly after breakfast.
Before they left, Ward pulled May to one side and told her to keep an eye on Skye and her shoulder.
"So, Sue tells me you are all S.H.I.E.L.D agents. How about us boys go out shooting?" Rob asked Ward when the girls had gone.
Ward looked to Coulson, who nodded back.
"Sure, but can we make it this afternoon. I have some errands to run this morning." Ward replied.
"That one's nice!" Simmons said as Skye came out of the dressing room, stumbling over the hem of the dress she had just been forced into.
"You are such a bad liar! It looks horrendous!" She replied.
"No. You look fine." Amber lied.
"It doesn't look as bad as you think." May also lied. Well, she didn't lie, the dress was horrible, so Skye looked worse than she thought.
Two hours later and later and Skye was getting fed up. She had been forced into five more dresses, each one more horrible than the last. Between this and the pain in her shoulder (she had forgotten her pain killers) she wanted to sit on the floor and cry. The only thing from stopping her was the potential embarrassment she would suffer for the rest of her life.
Just when Skye felt a tear begin to slip down her face May stuck her head around the curtain, took one look at Skye and told the shop keeper to get out. May resumed the task of fastening the dress up.
"I've convinced everyone that it's time for lunch after this one." She said to Skye
"Thankyou."
"You don't have to do this you know."
"Do what?" Skye asked.
"Try on a million wedding dresses before you find the right one."
"If I don't I won't have a dress!"
"We can figure something out. Ok. Go show everyone, I've finished tying you in."
Skye left the changing area and showed everyone the most recent monstrosity. The look on their faces was the biggest giveaway on how she would look when she got to the mirror.
She looked in the mirror and only just managed to suppress a scream. The dress made her look like a carnival balloon...
She hurried back to the changing area and was joined a second later by May, who helped her out of the dress and into her regular clothes. May then surprised Skye by pulling some painkillers and a sling out of her pocket.
Ward got home from running his errands to find Coulson and Rob talking about life in the Royal Marines in the kitchen. Coulson had never served under anyone but S.H.I.E.L.D, but was interested to know what life was like in the various militaries.
Fitz was adding random comments, but was more focussed on resizing Gramz's ring to fit Skye. Kain was watching Fitz closely.
"You get everything done?" Rob asked, noticing Ward.
"Yeah. I only went out to get us all some food in."
"When Mr. Fitz here is finished we can all go out and have that target practise."
"Why don't we eat first?" Ward suggested as a counter offer as his stomach was noticeably growling.
"Sure."
The girls had been seated at their lunch table and were discussing various aspects of the upcoming nuptials. Well, everyone but Skye who was zoning out every now and then as a result of the pain killers May had given her.
"I could make the cake." Tilly suggested.
"Of course I will do hair for all of you." Sue said.
"I know a really good photographer. She lives in Kent though, but I can ask if she wouldn't mind travelling." Simmons said, trying to help.
"I can find a venue." Amber said. For some reason she had a knack for finding venues for events. If she hadn't have got into Phys Acc she was going to study to be an event planner.
"So that's, Skye, are you paying attention?" Sue asked.
"Hm, what? Yeah, it all sounds good." Skye rambled as a response.
"I want to ask you something and I want an honest answer. Are you and Grant rushing into this because you're pregnant?"
Simmons spat her drink all over May, who was struggling to keep her own in her mouth.
"What?" Asked Skye horrified. "I'm not pregnant."
"Are you sure?"
"YES!" Skye replied. Now Sue's dress choices made a lot more sense.
