"Come on. What was the trick?" The girls heard Rob ask as they walked through the front door that evening. The smells coming from the kitchen were heavenly.

"There was no trick" They heard Ward respond, slightly on the defensive.

"There has to have been a trick to it. There is no way in Hell you did that without there being a trick to it." Rob continued. He clearly didn't believe in Ward's shooting capabilities.

They headed to the kitchen where the voices were coming from.

"There was no trick." Ward repeated as they walked in.

"Something smells nice." May said, looking from Rob to Ward to try and figure out what was going on, when she couldn't she looked at Coulson.

"Ward hit the smallest target imaginable with a sniper rifle." Coulson told them.

"That's nothing new." Simmons interjected.

"He was shooting on his back, so he was upside down." Rob argued.

"There was no trick. I've seen him hit a target while upside down in a vertical ventilation duct." May informed him, shooting a sideways glance at Ward.

"Grant Ward has the highest hand eye coordination that S.H.I.E.L.D has ever recorded." Coulson admitted, passing Rob the money back.

"Wait, what about Hawkeye? I've never seen him miss. He can shoot stuff he isn't even looking at." Kain asked.

"Hawkeye has never been tested. And he will be the first to admit his hand eye coordination is abysmal. He shoots on a sixth sense rather than aim." Ward told him, stirring the large pot that was in front of him.

"So what's for dinner?" Simmons asked. They were on holiday, there was no need for shop talk.

"Paella." Tilly said before Ward could open his mouth.

"It's ready if you guys get the plates out."

Soon they were all sat eating.

"Oh My God! This is amazing. How come you've never cooked it before?" Coulson asked.

"Never had the stuff to make it. Just do me a favour. Don't tell Nat I made it." Ward replied, slightly distracted. After Fitz's revelation earlier, he was watching the interactions between him and Simmons.

"You know Sue said something very strange to me today." Skye said, as Ward climbed into bed next to her.

"Really? What did she say?" Ward asked as he wrapped his arm around Skye's waist, propping her arm into a comfortable position.

"Yeah. She asked me if I was pregnant"

"You're not are you?" he asked, panicked.

Skye tried to spin around to object but Ward held her close so she could barely move. She felt his hot, even breath on the back of her neck.

"That's not even funny." She replied, realising that he was having her on.

"It was a little funny." He told her, pressing his lips against her skin and smiling. He noticed that she had frozen in place.

"What's up?" he asked, worried that he had hurt her.

"Have you ever thought about it?"

"About what?"

"Having kids."

"No. You?"

"Not until Sue brought it up." Skye admitted.

"And?"

"I don't know. Part of me thinks that having kids would be great. We could give them everything that we never had, like a loving home, pets, little white picket fence."

"And it would be a logical next step for us as a couple."

Skye slapped his arm with her uninjured one. It had no fight behind it, mainly because she was laying on her arm and could barely reach him.

"But then I think about what we do and the dangers of it. We've both nearly died, granted you more than me, but still, would it be fair to have kids knowing that one or both of us could die at the drop of a hat?"

"Even if we didn't do what we do, we would still run that risk." Ward informed her.

"What do you mean?"

"Tomorrow we could walk down the street and get hit by a bus."

"True. I guess the thought scares me a little."

"You wouldn't be human if it didn't."

"So you're telling me that the thought scares you?" Skye asked with a sly smile.

"No. I'm telling you I'm a robot!" Ward replied with a chuckle. He kissed her shoulder and continued:

"If this is something that you want then it is something we need to seriously think about. Not just how it will affect us and our places on the team, but how it will affect our team. We would need to talk to Coulson and Fury and do research into pregnancy and flying. Or we could just run with it and cross that bridge when we come to it because with thinking and planning you might change your mind and regret it later in life?"

"Are you saying you want kids?" Skye asked. She had never really seen this side of him before.

"I'm saying that I've practically raised a child before and it's not easy, but if you want them then we can think about it." He said to her, pulling her in close.

Skye was about to respond when she felt his hot breath slow down. He was asleep.

"That back injury must be more serious than he's letting on" she thought.

Skye struggled to get to sleep that night. She was thinking too much about everything that had happened that day and everything she and Ward had said about having kids.. When she did fall asleep she had dreams where she and Ward were on a family vacation happily running after a small boy and an even smaller girl. Everything was perfect.

So what woke her?

It took a few minutes for Skye to regain her bearings. She was in a bed that wasn't on the bus. This confused her, and then she remembered where she was. It took a few more minutes to realise she was cold. Had this woken her?

Suddenly she realised why she was cold and all of the colour drained from her face.

Ward's arm was ice cold and pale.

Ignoring the pain in her shoulder she threw his arm off her and turned herself over, and sat up. She could see Ward's body in the moonlight and reached for him.

It wasn't just his arm that was ice cold. Tears ran down Skye's face. She moved her shaking hands up from his waist to his chest and over to where she loved to lie and listen to his heart beat.

She rested her hands there for a minute, trying to find signs of life.
