Miranda's POV
I couldn't believe Shepard brought Bellona along on this mission. First off, she is more the stealthy assassin type and definitely not suited for a mission like this. Secondly, it's Bellona. She is infuriating, immature and a general annoyance. Seeing Shepard smirk like that isn't helping one bit either.
Miranda's face contorted into an angry expression, if looks could have killed both Bellona and Shepard would have been long gone by now.
I noticed Bellona glancing over towards me. I did not need to be reminded of her presence. I'll focus on the mission but nothing else. The air turned icy cold.
I turned my attention to Shepard. "So who's our target Commander?" I asked Shepard with bark in my voice.
"Our target is krogan by the name of Okeer. Right now we know nothing much about him only that he's on Tuchanka." Shepard crossed her arms, looking at both me and Bellona in the eyes. As if trying to tell us to just get along, fat chance. But hold on a second, what does she mean we don't know anything what? This mission is just getting stranger and stranger.
I decided to voice my thoughts to Shepard. "What do you mean we don't know anything about him? Did you not read his dossier?"
Shepard rubbed her neck, and shrugged her shoulders, "Not really. I was busy."
I couldn't believe my ears. What sort of joke was this? Who goes into a mission so completely unprepared? My eyes narrowed but I didn't say anything. Instead I noticed that Shepard had turned to Bellona asking her if she knew anything.
"I'm sure you know more about him, you were the one who was working on those dossiers? You should know."
Bellona rolled her eyes, "Not really, the one who was doing that, was not really me, it was another operative that TIM asked to do the job. He send me to go to Omega remember?" she looked down on her Omni-tool trying to find anything on their new member.
Shepard raised an eyebrow. "Why did he send you to Omega?"
Bellona Shrugged, "Said, to look for rogue agent, and while I'm there to find some reassures for our big Mission."
I couldn't help but think I was surrounded by incompetent fools at the moment. My mood came crashing further down, I'm sure the room temperature was now far below zero but neither of them chose to comment on that. I only saw that Bellona send a questioning gaze at me for a split second before turning away and telling Shepard she had found him.
Shepard nodded her head and her eyes narrowed, "What do we know Rose?" Her attention fully focused on her.
Bellona eyes narrowed as she read, "It said that he is militant radical, he is ruthless and fanatical, also that his own people turned on him. Nothing more, only records of his kills." She told her in a calm professional manner as she turned off her Omni-tool.
"Are you sure we want someone like that on our team?" I asked, looking at Shepard who was deep in thought. I knew for sure that I did not like having someone with such a reputation on our team, it was asking for trouble.
Bellona rolled her eyes and said rudely. "As if we have a choice TIMY want us to get him, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered with his dossier. Besides he doesn't like it when people tell him no. Believe me I know."
I glared at her, she has no rights to act all rudely and snobby to me. While crossing my arms I replied to her in the same harsh manner. "Since when do you know him so well? You don't work for him remember?"
"I know that I don't work for him. You on other hand…."
She didn't finish her sentence, knowing she made her point to me. I felt as if she was trying to drive the wedge between us even further. Fine then, if she wants that she will get that. My glare intensified even more.
Shepard watched as another argument started between us. She slapped her forehead and groaned. All the way to their destination she watched them argue.
"Rose, hurry up!" I shout as I was running for my life shooting my way out left, right and center.
"I am, I needed to reload my gun! What your problem?"
"Then do it while running. You're an Agent! A Professional, so act like it." I couldn't believe her, doesn't she have any skills?
"That's the problem. I'm an undercover Agent. It means I work in the shadows, and in the crowds of people! "
"Rose! You're left!" I shouted as I saw enemies trying to shoot her.
Bellona took cover behind a wall as bullets went by. She took out her grenade and threw it at the enemy.
"Enemy eliminated."
"Nice work. Agent." I couldn't help but say in a teasing way.
"Thanks, Miri."
I smiled as I passed her by, I suddenly felt silly for arguing with her lately. I will need to apologies to her once we get back. I'm tired of arguing, we are friends after all, no matter what happens. I was lost in thoughts and didn't notice till the very last second that Krogan was charging towards Bellona.
"BELL LOOK OUT!" I shouted in vain.
Rose turned her head and I saw her getting hit before she could even lift her gun; she was swept of feet and slammed into the wall, hitting her head hard. Krogan lifted her up, crushing her in his arms.
"ARH!" Bellona shouted out in pain.
I watched in horror, as I could hear the bones breaking even from such a distance. It was as if everything happened in slow emotion, how Krogan threw her into the wall, Bellona falling on her face and how she stopped moving.
"NO!" I didn't even realize it was me who screamed that. My mind clouded with fear, blocking out any other thought. Suddenly I saw him preparing the final blow and all angst disappeared, replaced with this intense rage. It hissed through my body like a fiery poison. My vision turned red in rage, as I unloaded all of my ammo on the Krogan. I didn't even notice when I stopped shooting as the moment Krogan fell down I ran over to Bellona turning her over on her back.
I saw her struggle to breathe. Her mangled lip and obviously broken nose were covered in dried blood. The now browning blood had drizzled down her face like a rain down the window pane. She coughed as blood stained her lips to scarlet red. My eyes widened in horror as I looked at her, I took her into my arms. Trying to keep her from fainting, trying anything to keep her alive.
I vaguely noticed in the background that Shepard ordered for a pick up.
As I applied the medic-gel on her, I noticed her face continued to grimace in pain. My hands were pressing on her open wounds trying to stop the free flowing surge of blood.
Finally Bellona's head slumped.
I continued to shout her name in vain, going as far as ordering her not to die. Willing her to listen to me. Anything, please anything, I would give anything if she would just live. Just please Bella don't die, please don't die. I am so sorry, don't die.
I didn't realize that I had said everything out loud and that she had heard every word as she slipped quietly into a coma, with dead nearly knocking on her door.
It was at that moment that Shepard returned with the medic team. She looked at me, not knowing what to say as tears streamed freely down my face.
