When Skye woke up the following morning she was painfully propped up against Tilly's shoulder. Her throat felt dry, her tongue fuzzy and when she tried to get up her head started spinning. She gingerly moved to the side of the bed and got to her feet. She reached the door and headed out into the corridor, with every intention of sleeping in her own bed.
She made it as far as the bathroom.
Ward woke up. He was disoriented. He tentatively opened his eyes as, even through his eyelids he could see the sun shining through the curtains. He put his arms out to find Skye before remembering that she was elsewhere.
He sat up, took some deep breaths and headed for the bathroom to shower.
He perked up a little after his shower so he dried and changed and as he headed to the kitchen he saw Skye wobble out of the room May and Simmons were using and head into the bathroom. He chuckled to himself and carried on.
When he reached the kitchen the room was flooded with brilliant sunshine. Ward recoiled at the light and closed every single one of the blinds until the room was in a semi light.
"That's better." He said to Rob who was watching all of this with interest.
Ward was eating cereal when Coulson came in.
"What's with the blinds?" he asked.
"Grant here is feeling a little fragile after last night." Rob said, in a slightly louder voice than usual, which made Ward recoil slightly.
"You didn't have anything to drink." Coulson stated. The last thing he needed was for Ward to be sick.
"Too much in the restaurant." Ward mumbled as a response. He finished his cereal and routed through the cupboards looking for paracetamol. He was certain that he was not the only one who would be needing some.
An hour later the girls came in for their breakfast. Ward was still groaning over his coffee.
"Holy crap! You look like Hell." May said when she saw him, which caused Simmons to look.
"Do not tell me you're coming down with something." She demanded, walking over to him and feeling his forehead to check his temperature.
Ward swatted her hand away.
"No. I'm fine. This is completely self inflicted." He said to her.
"Well in that case I will leave you to your hangover."
"Thankyou."
Skye had been throwing up for the best part of an hour. This was the worst hangover she had ever felt.
When she started feeling better she picked herself up off the bathroom floor and wobbled her way to her room. She crawled onto the bed and fell back to sleep. She didn't feel Simmons come in and check on her or hear Ward come in and start packing their stuff, as they were due to leave the following morning.
By the time she woke up it was mid afternoon. She lifted her head off the pillow and she immediately knew she would be able to keep some food down now. She turned over to look at the ceiling, but her legs hit a box that had been left on the bed.
She picked it up and rubbed the label with her fingers. It said:
"I meant to give you this last night for your birthday, but you called a girls night. I hope you like it. BE"
It was another gift from her loving husband. She took the lid off the box to reveal something wrapped in tissue paper. She unfolded the tissue paper to reveal a leather jacket. She picked it up and felt it. It was so soft.
Catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror she decided before she show her face she needed to shower and brush her teeth.
She put the box down and replaced the lid. She picked up her toiletry bag and headed into the bathroom. She turned the shower on and waited for a few seconds for it to heat up. She removed her clothes and set her phone on the top of the toilet lid.
She climbed in the shower and, as she started to wash her hair, realised that it was a bad idea. The hangover seemed to have intensified the pain in her shoulder.
Letting out a sob she pondered her options. She could stay here and prune waiting for someone to find her, she could get out of the shower right now and try detangle the mess that her hair would be, or she could reach her phone and try text someone for help, which would break her phone as it wasn't waterproof.
Just as she made her mind up that she would have to text Ward for help she heard the bathroom door open, then close and lock. She had forgotten to lock it, which meant that she was now naked in the shower with one of her team mates about to use the toilet. She got a surprise when she watched the blurry shadow. It approached the bathtub and reached out to pull the curtain. When it was pulled back a heavy eyed Ward was stood looking at Skye.
"Thought you might need some help." He said to her, stripping his t-shirt and jeans off and climbing in the shower next to her.
A/N: To Anon who reviewed: Ward's back miraculously healed - a couple of days passed between the two chapters, and to guest who asked if Skye told him it was her first birthday present - he already knew!
