He's Just My Everything
Helping Sarah
~Erica's P.O.V.~
What else could I do? I looked back at Ethan, who shrugged. I turned back at Sarah. "Of course I can help." She made a funny noise, then hugged me.
"I gotta get out of here." She whispered. I nodded.
"Can you flash to my house?" She nodded weakly. "Alright, meet us there." She nodded again and let go, waiting. Me and Ethan walked away.
When we arrived at my house, Sarah was sitting by the door, head between her legs. She didn't look up when i opened the door.
"You two may come in." It was then she got up and followed Ethan inside.
I went up to my room and sat on my bed. Ethan sat next to me and wrapped his arm around me. I leaned against him and smiled. Then I remembered Sarah was here. I looked at her, standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.
"You care to take a seat?"
"Um, sure." She sat in my desk chair.
"So... what do you need help with?"
"I need blood." With those three words, I stiffened and Ethan moved me away, leaning forward, much more alert.
"Wait, no! Not human! It's complicated..."
"Then explain." Ethan growled. I put a hand on his shoulder, but he didn't relax.
"Jasmine and everyone else eat human blood. I hate it. I hate being around them. I have to starve 'cause I won't eat it. I can't live like this. I need not human, not animal, not poisonous blood."
"...And you came to me why?" I asked.
"Because your boyfriend here drinks it. It goes by substitute. I won't talk to him, but I'm willing to make a deal though you."
I looked wearily at Ethan, who looked thoughtful.
"What kind of deal?" He asked.
She scowled at him, before looking at me. I rolled my eyes.
"Grow up, Sarah." She blinked, then looked scornful.
"I get one pint of substitute every week, with conditions of your choice. I don't care. But I need it." They both looked at me.
I had the chance to tell Sarah Fox to do whatever I want.
I looked at Ethan. "It's your blood bags, so it should be your conditions."
He shook his head. "I don't want anything out of her. You pick. I agree to whatever you want, Sarah. If it helps Erica."
Again it was up to me.
I looked at Sarah. She hated to be around the people who pressured her. And that was the reason I couldn't make her pay for her actions.
"I have two conditions. First, you stop hanging around Jasmine and the others vampires who tempt you." I let that soak in. The emotions on her face shifted. Surprise, fear, acceptance.
"Second...I need to be more fit. I'm a whimp. I can barely do a pushup."
"So... you need a personal trainer?" She grinned. I blushed. It did sound pretty pathetic.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Alright, when do we start?"
"Umm... today's Wednesday? So we can start next week. But could she have a freebie for now?" I asked Ethan. He nodded. Sarah was staring at me. I didn't like the look in her eye...
"Alright," Ethan started. "Sarah and I should leave. Sarah, follow me to my house and I'll give you a bag. I'll call you tonight, Erica. But Sarah needs out now." Sarah nodded. With goodbyes and a kiss from Ethan, they left.
After dinner, I received a call from Ethan. He told me his sister wants to meet me tomorrow after school. I agreed.
This week marks a new start at life it seems.
