He's Just My Everything

Make-Overs And Threats

~Erica's P.O.V.~

Early Sunday morning, I was woke up at 5:30 for 'training'. It sucked. I was working out for two hours. Same for Monday, but for one hour. then I went to Ethan's, by request. Later that morning, I was almost completely re-made.

My hair hung loose from my braid, feeling heavy and messy, though I was assured it looked good. My glasses were replaced with contacts. the dirty lenses gone, my eyes now stood out.

I wore tight clothes. A white, tight shirt with flames crawling up my left side, red and orange and yellow thread. Skinny jeans that I felt funny sitting in.

My make up, which was only shiny lip gloss and blush, was now red lips, black eyeliner, brown eye shadow. Mascara. Blush. Too much...

This was the makeover I was assured I would have. This was also the makeover I was assured I wouldn't have.

And I still didn't have any idea what I looked like.

Jane looked at me proudly. "See? You look great. Like a whole new person!" Was that her way of telling me she didn't like the real me?

"I... really can't see what I look like." I said.

"Oh! Yes! A mirror!" She flashed out of the room and returned with a full body mirror.

I didn't reconize the girl who looked back at me. Mainly because she was beautiful.

"This... isn't me." I said, half startled when the girl in the mirror spoke with me. Jane's smile faltered in the mirror.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean- wait. How come I can see your reflection?" I stared at her through the glass.

"We don't know that either. I don't like to look at myself often. I feel bad that I can see myself when Ethan can't." I nodded. "But he is beautiful, right?"

"Of course he is." I whispered, blushing. I silently prayed he couldn't hear me. Jane smiled.

"Should I go get him, then?" I took a deep breath and nodded. She put the mirror back and returned with Ethan. I stayed frozen my back turned, shoulders raised.

"Erica, turn around." Jane said, sounding annoyed. I shivered, before turning, keeping my eyes on the ground. I felt my pulse everywhere, in my fingertips, my toes... I felt expossed, like I was naked.

I listened closely, since I wouldn't look.

"Wow..." Ethan said, sounding in awe. My cheeks burned.

"Mm-hmm... See?"

"Yeah..." I had a feeling she pointed at somewhere on me, and my curiousity made me glance up. His eyes flashed from my stomach area to meet my eyes, and I looked back to the ground.

"I thought you said you weren't gonna buy anything..." I said through gritted teeth.

"He didn't." Jane said, coming closer and adjusting my hair a bit. "He refused me for the first time in a very long time. Said you are perfect the way you are." The heat in my cheeks spread to my ears, down my neck. "So I went online and bought this. Why else would I have waited so long? When your tuner doesn't work, you tune by ear."

"Did you really say that, Ethan?" I mumbled.

"Of course." He said softly, taking a few steps closer. "And please don't assume that Jane doesn't like you. She adores you." He cupped my cheek and kissed my forehead gently. My body shuddered.

"Yeah," Jane spoke up from behind me. "I think you were very pretty. But I have a very large curiousity and I wanted to see how beautiful you could be. And I'd also like to see you in a Prom dress. Maybe this Prom you can let me pick your dress!" She squealed. I felt faint from all the blood rushing to the surface of my skin.

"Maybe." I mumbled. "I'm no good at it." Ethan looked amused.

That conversation webbed into others, including wedding dresses and decorations, and that's were I made her be quiet.

"What time is it, Jane?" I asked suddenly. She jolted.

"That's right! Your school! You're gonna be late!" We set off to school, My hand holding Ethan's.

"You may be perfect in your choice of everyday attire," Ethan said. "but you look amazing like that. You're so beautiful, Erica." He kissed my forehead again. I can't help but melt. His low smooth voice saying my name so carefully always gets to me.

The whole day, people were asking me if I was new. I just smiled and told them it was great to be noticed without pain.

The bell rang annouceing the day's end. I walked out of school, meeting up with Benny and Rory. Benny gave me a smirk. I never liked geeks, but that was the image my so-called friends gave me. They're wonderful. Benny was wonderful. I can't remember why Rory always tagged along, but I had a feeling it was because he didn't have any other friends.

"And that's why Batman is better than Superman." Rory concluded. But Benny wasn't paying attention.

"Hey." He said to me, touching my shoulder as a light show of affection. A heart beat drummed fast in my ears, and it took me a second to relize it couldn't have been me, and that Benny's cool and calm expression was a mask to hide his nervousness. I smiled.

"Hi."

And that is went everything went haywire.

Cliffy! Sorry, but its Mother's Day, and my mom is getting weird about it. Review! ~TrampledRose
