A/N: Serenity Shadowstar... as per your request, one wedding!
The day of the wedding dawned bright and clear. Ward woke up, saw what the time was, rolled over and went back to sleep. It was going to be a long day so he wanted to rest as much as possible.
Far too soon for Ward, Fitz was knocking on his door to wake him up so they could get dressed.
Simmons opened Skye's bedroom door and crept in. She approached the sleeping woman and gently woke her up.
"Morning." Simmons said to her, a smile plastered across her face. She was excited.
"What time is it?" Skye asked groggily.
"Eight." Simmons replied.
Skye groaned and tried to pull the covers back over her head.
"Skye. You need to get up so that you can shower and get ready." Simmons tried to reason with her, while pulling the covers back off her.
Skye sat up in the bed and looked at Simmons.
"The ceremony isn't until two, why do I have to get up now?
Simmons sat on the bed and looked at Skye.
"Your hair is going to take an hour and a half. That's half nine; breakfast, half an hour, that's 10; make up, last time it took an hour to get right, that's 11, not to mention the time it takes for you to shower, dressing, and having your nails done. Tilly and I also need to get ready."
"Ok, Ok. I get you point. I'm getting up." Skye said, crashing her head back onto the pillow.
Simmons stood up, grabbed Skye's arm and pulled her out of the bed. Skye landed on the floor with a thump. Simmons picked her off the floor, led her to the bathroom and put her in the shower. She turned the shower on and Skye shrieked as the cold water hit her skin.
Simmons heard a knock at the door so she went to answer it, knowing it would be Tilly and that Skye was now awake.
Tilly came in the room and went straight to the bed and flopped onto it.
"What's the matter with you?" Simmons asked her.
"Late night. Tell you later." Tilly yawned back.
There was another knock on the door. Simmons answered it. It was Sue. She had arrived to do their hair.
Skye came out of the bathroom dressed in a robe. She was immediately shepherded into a chair and Sue started on her hair.
In the hour that followed Simmons had her makeup done and Tilly had her nails done. Breakfast and a bottle of Champagne was delivered, so when Skye's hair was completed they sat down and enjoyed a Champagne breakfast.
"To Skye Collins, soon to be Skye Ward!" Simmons toasted. Sue and Tilly raised their glasses to meet Simmons, but Skye hesitated.
"What's the matter honey?" Sue asked.
"Nothing, I'm just double barrelling it." Skye admitted, looking at the floor.
"Why?" Simmons asked, shocked.
"Because if she doesn't she'll be Skye Ward, as in look skyward."
"It's also the fact that no one calls him by his first name, not even me so having two agent Ward's may get confusing." Skye added, wondering how Tilly knew her reasoning.
Simmons moved onto getting her hair done, Tilly onto her makeup and Skye had her nails done.
"How did you know?" Skye whispered to Tilly.
"Duh! I wouldn't want to be Skye Ward for love nor money. I know you love him and you're doing it for practical work issues as well." Tilly replied, rolling her eyes.
By one o'clock that afternoon all three of them were ready. The only thing left to do was get Skye into her dress. It slipped over her body easily and Simmons made to fasten it up. The photographer, who had been taking photos throughout their preparations, was now getting up close and personal taking pictures of Simmons fastening all of the satin covered buttons down the back.
"Is my tie straight?" Fitz asked Ward.
"No." Ward told him in a flat voice.
"Damn, I've been working on it for the last hour and a half."
"He's messing with you." Coulson told him, seeing the smile playing at Ward's features.
Fitz picked the damp towel off the dresser and launched it at Ward. It was a good shot and wrapped around his head.
"That's enough!" Coulson told them, helping Ward find the end of the towel and pull it off his face.
A knock on the door indicated it was time to put their shoes on and head for the ceremony.
Ward opened the door to Anabelle who was looking nervous.
"Aren't I supposed to be the nervous one?" Ward asked her, as Coulson slipped past them and headed to Skye's room.
"Yes, but I have a last minute change I want to inform you of."
"What is it?"
"I wasn't going to tell you in case it rained, but we are moving the ceremony outside."
"Lead the way." Ward told her.
Until this point he wasn't apprehensive. He knew Skye liked the staircase and was wondering how the 'outside' situation would work if it suddenly started raining through the ceremony.
Anabelle led them down the corridor that they expected to walk down. When they reached the bottom of the staircase Ward's apprehensions were gone.
The house had opened the main doors so that the usual ceremony room extended to outside. There were rows, upon rows of chairs that were starting to fill up so Ward walked down the aisle that had been constructed out of a mauve carpet. He moved to the front of the chairs and listened as Anabelle told him where to stand and what was going to happen.
He was stood in the shade of a beautifully decorated, ornately carved gazebo. He scanned the crowd, looking for people he knew. His 'side' of the seating were people he trusted and liked at S.H.I.E.L.D, including May, Romanov and Hawkeye. Rob and Sue were also there with their niece that they had spent years trying to set him up with.
"Holy wow!" Fitz said from his side.
"What?"
"You said it was nice, you didn't tell me it was this nice!"
