He's Just My Everything

A Not-So White Flag

~3rd Person's P.O.V.~

Jesse came out of his bedroom with a pleased expression, but it quickly gave way to a look of deep thought. Vampire passerbys knew better than to bother him, and diverted their path as not to distract Jesse.

It wasn't long before he broke out in an evil grin. He knew just what to do. He set out to find the blood-sucker of his train of thought, and found her quickly.

Gwen was going through a wide hallway, a distant and sad look in her eyes.

"Gwen." Jesse said without stopping. Gwen looked up at him with surprise and fear, freezing in place. "Follow."

Jesse led her through the house until he found an empty room. It was a large bathroom, with pleasant grey walls. He pushed her in and followed suit, closing the door and turning on the light.

Gwen stared at his collarbone, scared to meet her leaders' eyes, but making sure he didn't do anything irrational.

"Due to reasons I don't have to explain to you," He started, with a dominant tone. "I am incapable of erasing Benny. Aiden is proving to be too weak for the task, so I am leaving you with his death. I don't care how, or who, or anything. Just make sure that he is gone."

"Yes, sir." Gwen confirmed in a shaking voice.

"Good. Get to work."

Later that night, Rory finds Gwen sitting in the living room. He hesitates, then turns to leave.

"Rory." Gwen called out to him. Rory looks over his shoulder, surprised. She beckons him over hurriedly with a desperate expression.

Last they had talked was at school, when he got punched in the face and blamed Ethan for his break-up. So his surprise was understandable.

"Wanna punch me again?" Rory asked when he got there, trying to sound cold. "Because I do have another cheek. Or, you know, wherever else you feel necessary."

"I - okay, you deserved it and you know it. But that's not why I called for you. I . . . I need your help." Gwen looked at the ground.

Rory crossed his arms, unsure. Every part of him wanted to scoop her up and take her somewhere to sort out her situation, but he fought back his implusive behavior and just replied, "With what?"

Gwen glanced around, then up and left. Rory followed her to an empty room. She turned to him, a respectful distance away. She told him about what happened with Jesse, for some reason leaving out the fact they were in a bathroom.

"So," Gwen continued. "I'm not sure what to do. I don't mind getting rid of him, but, I don't want to do it myself."

"What are you telling me this?" Rory asked in a rough voice. He was hearing his ex talk about how she needs to kill his best friend. If she was about to ask what he thought she was . . .

"Because I have one question." Gwen said, leveling her stare at him. Her expression was intense, but Rory couldn't place what with. "Would you kill Benny, if it meant that I would be yours again?"

Rory's eyes widened. He turned the question over and over in his mind. The reward was great, but he couldn't do the work for it. He narrowed his eyes at her.

"I thought you were different, Gwen. I really did. But you're just as cold hearted as the rest of 'em." With that, he stormed out. But he didn't see Gwen smiling softly.

When Rory opened the door, he bumped into Aiden, who looked at him, pissed.

"What?" Rory challenged.

"Nothing. Nothin' at all." Aiden grinned, then left. But Rory knew. He knew that Aiden didn't like him because of he and Gwen. He knew he'd do whatever it took to get her back.

Then it clicked. Whatever it took.

Benny.
