Thank you so much for your response on the first chapter! I am really glad you liked the first chapter and I hope you will like this one as well. Please tell me what you think after!
Chase laid in the bed, looking at the people passing his room. Some looking inside, some not. He wondered if that happened to their patients too. He hated that they were all staring at him. His chest hurt so bad and not even the painkillers made it all any less.
''You are sweating like madness.'' Cameron said then. ''You look terrible.''
''Thanks for stating the obvious.'' Chase mumbled. Working together with her was something he didn't mind but he had always wondered how their patients dealt with her…and now he had to deal with her as a patient. She had his employee file in her hands, that also contained his basic info.
''Here to get a medical history.'' She said, sitting down by his bedside.
''Yeah…I once broke my arm and that is about it.'' He said then. ''Oh, and I was in the hospital once because I ate strawberry, that was when they found out I am allergic.''
''No other hospital visits?''
''Not of your concern.'' He said.
''Chase, you have to tell me everything.''
''You are my coworker, anything that is not important for you to know to make me better, I sure wouldn't tell you.'' He said then and she put her hands in her side.
''Chase…''
''Fine, I was in the hospital once because my mom pushed me down the stairs in her drunk rage. I was in the hospital in Melbourne for two days, but nothing that is important about that now.''
Cameron gave him on of her 'I am so sorry' faces with a tilted head and saw he didn't want to talk about it.
''Do you have any other allergies –'' She asked then.
''Cameron, just stop it, this information is all in my file.'' Chase said then.
''But we need to get the most recent informa-''
''I started working here a year ago, everything is recent.'' He said then and she grabbed his employee file, that had all the information in it.
''So…your address is still 72th street? Number 78 and Apartment 7B.'' She said, reading the first information. Chase wanted to get mad because he was sure he told her that he was moving just a few days ago.
''not anymore.'' He said and she raised her eyebrows.
''Okay, so I moved to another apartment a week ago…'' he said then.
''So, it is not recent.'' She said.
House stood by the window. Somewhere he wanted to let go of a small smile because of Chase's annoyed expression towards Cameron, but there was no such thing as laughing in this situation. He could only hear their voices very softly but he could hear that Cameron was checking all the facts in his file with him.
Then he frowned.
Chase looked up surprised as the door suddenly swung open.
''You moved to another apartment a week ago?'' House asked and Chase frowned confused.
''Uhm…yeah. It is closer to the hospital but I don't get how that would be imp-'' Chase said but then House looked at Cameron and she nodded.
''Are you going to give me the key or do I need Foreman to break in?''
''You don't need to check there…if there was anything there that would make me sick, I would have known. I am a doctor.''
Cameron got that expression on her face again that she always got when she felt sorry and tilted her head. Chase just looked away and pointed at his bag on the floor then.
''It is in there.''
House picked up the bag and opened the zipper and held the bag upside down.
Papers, pens, a lunchbox that fell open on the floor and the sandwich fell on the ground, beside that an epipen rolled over the ground and a key fell between all the stuff. A phone also fell out and Chase sighed as it was broken now.
''Key.'' House said almost triumphantly as he picked it up between the stuff. He also grabbed the sandwich that had fallen to the ground and wiped his hands over it and took a bite then, Cameron frowning. Chase smirked for a second.
''Hospital floors.'' House said, his mouth full and Cameron just shook her head, almost in disbelief – as if it was something that House wouldn't do – House was just glad that Chase was smiling again.
''Cameron, take Foreman and go to the apartment.'' House said then and Cameron walked out, shaking her head as she looked at the mess on the floor.
''oh, Cameron….'' House said then and she turned around.
''Don't try to figure out the secret of Chase's hair in there, I want to keep thinking it is real.'' House said then and she walked out, rolling her eyes and House looked back at Chase, finally glad that he was smiling again.
''How are you feeling?'' House said then, grabbing the file and writing down his stats.
''If I hadn't felt terrible, I would have stopped Cameron and Foreman from going to my apartment.'' Chase said, stating the obvious and House nodded.
''Well, pull the IV's out and run after them.''
''That would hurt too much.'' Chase said.
''What is hurting and why didn't you tell things are hurting?''
''My joints hurts.'' He admitted then and House frowned again.
''I didn't tell you because my whole body has been sore for the whole week now, I thought it was just a minor flu or bad cold.''
''A minor flu or bad cold that makes your kidneys fail?'' House said.
''It didn't feel that bad up till now.'' He said then.
''Well, we sure need to figure out what is wrong with you. I send your bloodwork to the lab, will get Foreman and Cameron to work on it after they looked through your apartment. With only two people to do the work, things are moving slow.''
''Oh yeah, imagine you would have to do them.'' Chase said, not trying to be mean but he just wanted them to figure out what was wrong with him, before his kidneys would get even worse, that he would really suffer damage to his kidneys beyond repair.
''I could do your bloodwork.'' House said then.
''Thank you.'' Chase said grateful.
''I can't let you die, your sandwiches are too good.'' He said then and got up. ''Get some rest, I will make sure the secret about your hair won't spread through the hospital if Cameron finds it.''
Chase let go of a small smile and slowly he dozed off to have some sleep.
He woke up when House came walking in.
''Nothing in your apartment.'' House said then and Chase nodded.
''I hate to say I told you so.''
Suddenly House walked his way and grabbed a tissue, pressing it up under his nose.
''Your nose is bleeding…and I haven't even gotten to your bloodwork yet.''
Shocked Chase took the tissue from House, pressing it under his nose.
''We need to find out what is wrong with you…soon!'' House said then and even Chase got even more scared because House actually looked concerned now and that couldn't be good.
NOTE: Instead of working in the clinic the team is now working to find out what is wrong with Chase, but they haven't found much yet and things only seem to get worse. House is getting concerned, which makes Chase really scared now as well.
The next chapter will be up around Wednesday. I hope you really liked this chapter and thank you so much for reading. Please do leave a review before you go so I know what you think. Thank you!
