Initiates are coming! Yay! Big thanks to Blue Mist 10 for all your help with the initiates and to everyone else who submitted an initiate.
Tris pov
Today the initiates come. Tobias wakes me up early and leads me to the training room. He explains what we will be doing today. "I love it in here."I say happily. He wraps his arms around me and sways me back and forth.
"Me too. I love kissing you in here,"he presses a kiss to my neck,"I love hugging you in here, I love being with you in here,"he kisses my lips and turns me in his arms so I'm facing him.
"I love you,"he says.
"I love you too."
He kisses me passionately until the door opens. Tori steps in and says,"oh there you two are! Just wanted to let you know that the initiates will be here in an hour or so. The choosing ceremony is just starting. We should all head out there. We'll have to leave early to get you guys back before the initiates."
"Okay."
Tori leads us to a slick black convertible. It's a Mazda apparently, but I honestly don't know what that means? We drive to the ceremony in what seems like record time. When we walk in, a girl with black hair from Abnegation chooses Dauntless. I look in the Dauntless crowd and notice 5 other transfers. So far, 2 from Erudite, 1 from Abnegation, 1 from Candor, and 1 from Amity.
I watch as many Dauntless born choose to stay. We have a lot of transfers this year. About 15. This will be an interesting year. When it's almost over, Tobias takes my hand and says,"we gotta go."
Tori, Harrison, Tobias, and I all make our way to the car quickly so we can get back to the compound quickly. Tobias shows me the way to the net where the first jumper will fall. I smile thinking about when I was the first jumper. The first time I laid eyes on Tobias.
"I remember when I first saw you." He says.
"That's what I was thinking about."
"My brave Tris."
He wraps his arms around me and kisses me intensely until we hear the sound of feet (and everything else) hitting the roof above. "They're here."
Will is up there with them right now. "How do you think Will is doing?" He asks.
"I think he's perfect for that job. I'm happy I get to work with him." I answer.
"Yeah, he's a great guy."
We stop talking as soon as we hear the scream of our first jumper. A guy with green hair and eyes (obviously a Dauntless born) lands. He rolls off before we can even help him off, but lands on his feet.
"What's your name?" Tobias asks in his Four voice.
"Ross Dyle."
"FIRST JUMPER, ROSS DYLE!" He yells.
Right away we hear another scream. A girly scream. A tall blonde lands and as soon as she stops bouncing, throws her arms up and yells,"whoooooaaa!"
"What's your name?"I ask in the most intimidating voice I can. She smiles at me and says,"Nikki James!"
"SECOND JUMPER, NIKKI JAMES!" I yell.
She rolls off and I notice that she's a Dauntless born too.
She hugs Ross and says,"Damn that was exhilarating! We've gotta do that again sometime!"
He kisses her and says,"I know, huh?!"
Knowing that they are obviously together, it makes me feel better because this girl is beautiful, which makes me worried that she'll try to hit on Tobias.
More and more prone jump until finally Will jumps.
"I'm Four, I'll be one of your instructors. Welcome to Dauntless. This is Six, and that's Will-"
He's cut off by a Candor boy who says,"what? His name isn't Five?"
I watch as the same thing that happened to Christina last year, plays out in front of me. I wonder if he has to do that every year? I try to hold back a smile and look to Will who is also trying to restrain a smile.
"Okay, Dauntless born with Will, Transfers with Six and I."
We lead them to the pit where we show them what life in the pit is like. Then to the Chasm where Four gives his "line between stupidity and bravery" speech. Then finally to the training room.
"This is the training room,"I say,"where we will spend most of our time together. This is where most of our training will take place. Depending on how well you do in the first and second stage, decides what jobs you can get and when you get to pick. No one this year will get kicked out because of low scores, however if you have a low score you won't get a very good job."
"Wait, get kicked out?"
"When I was an initiate, we had rankings and after a certain number, we would become factionless."
"What did you get?" An Erudite girl with blonde hair and blue eyes asks.
"I got first."
"What about you?" She asks Four.
"First."
Her eyes widen in wonder as she looks at us.
"Okay, initiates, time to show you your living quarters!" I say with excitement.
Their faces fall when they see it. "This is where we have to live?"
"Yup. Everything's out in the open. You'll fit in easily, Candor."
I think of last year when he said that. I wonder if he just has lines that he says every year?
"I'll show you to the cafeteria. Dinner should be starting soon." He says.
We go to the cafeteria and sit down in our usual place. Will and Christina join us, but today they're the only ones because the rest had to work.
"So how was today?" Christina asks.
"It was great."
"I think we have a good bunch,"Will says.
"Me too."
Tobias gets up and gets us food, then comes back to sit by me. I pull him into a sweet kiss and don't stop until I hear gasps. I look to where they came from and notice that a bunch of initiates are sitting at what was the empty side of the table.
"You two are together?" Elisa, a girl from Erudite, asks.
"Yes," I say and smile at Tobias.
"Wow,"she says surprised. I wonder why she's so surprised. Probably something about statistics.
I can't help but see a faulter in his Four mask as he actually smiles as he takes my hand.
"Time to go welcome the initiates."he whispers to me.
We climb to the top where we can see all of the cafeteria. Tori and Harrison are already up there.
"Four, would you like to do the honours?"
"Sure."
"Welcome initiates, to Dauntless! I'm Four one of your Dauntless leaders. Up here with me is Tori," she raises her hand,"Harrison, and Tris,"I raise my hand as he says my name.
"In the next few days you'll learn how Dauntless works, so enjoy tonight, because it's hard work tomorrow. "
Later that night I ask him what he thinks about this year.
"I can't wait to train them with you." Then he kisses me.
