The following morning Skye woke up and she really didn't feel well. She felt tired and groggy. Feeling her stomach turn she ran for the bathroom.
"You ok?" Ward asked Skye when she returned.
"I don't know. I think it was the food last night." Skye told him, sitting next him on the sofa.
"Take it easy for the day. It should pass." Ward told her, putting his arm around her waiting for the show to start.
May crept out of Coulson's bunk and back to her own to change for Tai Chi. She opened the door and there were multiple small yet loud explosions as thirty party poppers exploded into life showering May with multi coloured streamers. That wasn't all. Opening the door also pressed the dispenser for two cans of foam silly string.
It was everywhere.
The noise woke everyone else up. They stumbled into the lounge to see what was going on and found May covered head to toe in streamers and silly string.
Ward laughed from the sofa while Skye raced for the bathroom again.
May turned to look at Ward.
"Hey. You started it!" he told her with a laugh.
"How?" May demanded.
Ward stood up and closed the gap between them.
"Why don't you look on your bed" he whispered to her before he went to go and check on Skye.
May walked into her bunk ready to fight off any more traps Ward had set up for her. Seeing nothing but the bottle on her bed she relaxed a little. She picked up the bottle, noticing as she did that some text was highlighted and sat down.
Realisation suddenly dawned on her and she mentally kicked herself.
A week and a half later Skye was still being ill and it was driving her insane. She was getting weaker by the day and Coulson had confined her to the 'bus. They had managed to eliminate the food as the source and Simmons told her she must have contracted some sort of stomach virus.
"I hate this!" Skye said as cleaned herself up after her latest episode.
"I hate seeing you like this." Ward told her, passing her a towel so she could dry her face.
"I just want it to stop." Skye cried, collapsing to the floor in a heap.
Ward sat down next to her. Trying to form the question that had been bugging him for a couple of days.
"Skye. Do we have to cross that bridge?" he asked putting his arm around her.
"What bridge?" Skye asked snuggling into his side. She was now feeling so sleepy that her head felt like cotton wool.
"The one we talked about in Oxford."
Skye pulled her head away from his shoulder and looked at him.
"Oh CRAP NO!" Skye said, adding things up in her mind.
Ward just laughed.
"We're in LA tomorrow. Why don't we go and get you checked over?" Ward suggested.
Skye nodded, tears falling from her eyes. Ward pulled her in closer for a hug to calm her down before leading her back to their bunk so she could sleep.
He waited until he could hear her breathing even out and climbed the stairs to Coulson's office.
"Can I talk to you?" he asked, knocking softly on the open door.
"Sure. Come in."
Ward entered the office and closed the door behind him.
"This is about Skye isn't it?" Coulson asked before Ward could even open his mouth.
"Yes."
"She's not ill is she?"
"I don't think so, no."
"Confirmation?"
"None yet. I want to take her to the docs tomorrow when we are in LA."
"I'm sure I can cope without you both for a few hours." Coulson told him with a small smile playing on his lips.
Ward left Coulson's office as Amber entered it.
"My aren't I popular today?" Coulson said as he saw he knock on his door.
"Sir. Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"I know out internship is up in a couple of weeks, but I was wondering if I could stay on with you and your team. I feel like I'm not quite ready and that I have so much more to learn from you guys."
"I can't promise anything Amber, but I will discuss it with Director Fury and get back to you."
"Thankyou Sir." Amber said, leaving his office.
A/N: Sorry about the time jumps in the last couple of chapters. I just felt like it would be boring to keep hearing that Skye was ill. I hope you don't find it too rushed!
