A/N: I'm back! I'm glad more people are liking this story! I was worried that people would ignore the warning I put in the summary.
Anyway, enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Rescue Bots. I only own Catherine Burns.
*Catherine's POV*
I smiled as Cody explained to the bots what they should and should not do to act like robots. It was rather amusing to see my 12-year-old son explaining to giant robots from another planet to stand extremely straight, to not speak unless spoken to, and to have their visors, or in Boulder's case, his optics, blue, when anyone other than me and Cody around.
We were at the local drive-in, the Bots in robot mode, watching a movie about robots. I was always surprised this place was still around. It's been here since Charlie and I were at the elementary school here on Griffin Rock.
Currently, the giant, generic robot was destroying a city. Cody said, "This is what people will expect you to look like."
The robot on the screen stuck its arms out and crushed a building. "See? Just stick out your arms... Lock your legs."
And he began walking around like a zombie, except faster. "You try!"
All the Bots transformed, except Heatwave, began copying Cody. Cody looked up at Heatwave expectingly and Heatwave deadpanned, "Really?"
Blades looked like he was doing the Robot. How does he know how to do that?
Cody voiced my question and said, "I dunno where you learn that, but no."
I giggled and went over to First Aid and Chase, who seemed to be having problems with walking like how Cody showed them. "Here, like this. Walk real precisely."
They copied me and I gave them a thumbs-up. They were about to ask me what that meant, when Blades asked, "Is that part of the film?"
The screen ripped apart and one of the robotic dinosaurs, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, burst from the scraps. It roared loudly and the people in the drive in scattered like ants.
"I know I'm new here, but aren't dinosaurs extinct?!" Blades asked, panicked. Somehow, I got the feeling that will be happening a lot.
"This one's about to be." Heatwave growled, and punched his fist and palm together. I got the feeling that would also be happening a lot. He was about to go down to the drive in, but there were still people down there.
I stepped in front of Heatwave calmly and said, "Hold on a second, Heatwave. There are still people down there. Would really want to blow your cover?"
"Mom's right." Cody said.
"Mom is always right." I said, just trying to mess with the Bots, then got back on topic. "If anyone down there sees you in robot mode, you blow your cover."
"And your mission." Cody added.
Heatwave sighed, and down. Boulder seemed to notice something about the robot dinosaur.
"It's attracted to the light!" He exclaimed.
Cody had a metaphorical light bulb over his head. "Chase! Hit your lights!"
Chase's lights flashed, his siren screamed, and he definitely got the dinosaur's attention.
"That got its attention. Now what?"
"We need to lure it away from civilians." I ordered. The Bots all transformed to vehicle mode. Cody got into Heatwave, and I got into First Aid. Heatwave led us to near the mountains, with the rest of them following after him.
"I'll comm. link the Chief in." Heatwave said. My screen also crackled with static before my husband's face filled the screen, as well as my youngest's.
"Griffin Rock Emergency. This is the Chief."
"Dad! Uh... Okay, first, don't panic, I'm with the Rescue Bots-" Cody started but was interrupted by Charlie.
"What?! Who gave you permission to-"
"I did, hon." I interrupted. "Seems Cody figured out the Rescue Bots' secret."
Charlie sighed. "How long have you known, Cody?"
"Wait, you know?" Cody asked, totally surprised.
"Catherine, where are you?" I froze, frantically looking around for a landmark.
"Chief, if I may, we are at the intersection of Lincoln and Crossroads with a dinosaur in pursuit." Chase replied evenly for me.
"A dinosaur? Again?" Charlie exclaimed. "We're on our way. Just hold tight."
I disconnected and then said, "We have to lead the dinosaur away from the town."
"But how will we lure it away?" Blades asked.
"Well, it was attracted to your lights, right?" I said.
"Of course!"
"Now, all we need to do is come up with a plan." Heatwave said.
A/N: Yep, short chapter for a long wait. I'm disappointed in myself... Hopefully, the next chapter will be longer!
