Thank you so much for your response on the first three chapters! I am really glad you liked the first three chapters and I hope you will like this one as well. Please tell me what you think after!
''It can't be lupus.'' House said then, biting his thumb nail as he was trying to think, trying to think of another diagnosis.
''Yes, it can….'' Cameron said then. House shook his head again.
''There has to be something else.'' House said then.
''It is lupus.'' Chase whispered then and House looked at the symptoms again.
''It mostly occurs in women and in Hispanic and African people. You hit the bad luck jackpot.'' House said then.
''And now?'' Chase asked then. He had a diagnose now but he did not feel happy at all. He knew it would only get more terrible now. He still had to get better and they could not make this disease go away.
''Priority is my kidneys.'' He said then.
''Priority is to not let you die.'' House said.
Chase looked down and somebody took his hand and when he looked aside, he saw that Cameron was holding his hand. He wanted to pull his hand away but even though he didn't like her that much, it was comforting at the moment and he let it go.
''I think you should try-'' Cameron started.
''I don't want you to be here and decide about what I am going to do.'' Chase said then and Foreman got up and walked away then.
''I am an immunologist. I could help you.'' Cameron said then.
''No. I don't want you as my doctor, I want you to leave me alone.'' Chase said then and with a sigh Cameron got up.
House waited until the door was closed.
''Want me to go as well?'' He asked then. ''because I am not leaving you to cry alone and not getting proper treatment.''
''No, I want you to be my doctor.'' Chase said then.
''But I am not an immunologi-''
''But I trust you. You are smart enough to fill in that spot.'' Chase said, trying not to doze off.
''You also think that I won't treat you like a sick pathetic patient.'' House said then, moving a little closer to the bed.
''I don't think that, I know that. And you also let me think about my treatment.''
House nodded. He could imagine that although it was hard for Chase to stay objective, he still wanted to think about the possibilities himself too because he was a really smart doctor as well.
''Low dose chemotherapy. It could improve my kidney function and smash my overactive immune system.'' Chase said then and House nodded.
''It could, but you are weak and smashing your immune system also could make you more sick.''
''But my own body is constantly infected because of my overactive immune system. I could get infections any time.'' Chase said then and House nodded.
''I don't think I have to explain the side effects to you.''
''No…I know…'' Chase said then and House got up.
''Take some rest, think about if you really want it.''
''What are you going to do?''
''Get a second opinion with someone.'' House said then and before Chase could pretest. But he was glad that House was going to be his doctor.
Trying not to keep thinking about his bad diagnose, he caught some sleep.
House looked as Chase was asleep now and walked to the office of his best friend.
Wilson was reading the paper as the door to his office swung open en he didn't even have to peek over it to know it was House.
''You look upset.
''Chase just diagnosed himself. Lupus and he is right.'' House mumbled.
''And you are upset because he broke the first rule of House? It is never lupus?''
''Chase wants me to be his doctor, even while I am not an immunologist.'' House said then, sitting down on the couch in his friend's office, taking the lunch box that on the coffee table and snatching one of the sandwiches out.
''And you are going to help him.''
''I guess…I don't want to lose him on my team.'' House said then, stuffing the sandwich in his mouth.
''You actually care about him.'' Wilson said, putting the paper down.
''Well, you obviously don't care about your lunch.'' House said, avoiding having to say anything about his concerns about Chase.
''That is my lunch from two days ago. Can't imagine that is still tasty.'' Wilson said as he raised his paper again to continue reading when House stopped chewing, throwing the half eaten sandwich back in the lunch box.
Early that evening, Chase looked as House was putting the bags with Cytoxan and other medication on the pole beside his bed.
''Are you really sure about this?'' House asked then, not sure if the man was even ready to do this. At first he hadn't even wanted to do it, but Wilson had told him that Chase was smart enough to decide and think for himself.
''Yes.'' Chase said then, hoping that this could help him and that it would save his kidneys. He really did not want the damage to get any worse, so much worse that he had to get a transplant.
''Well, here we go.'' House said, connecting it to the IV and Chase laid back, not scared, but he was worried. But he knew that with House looking after him, he would be okay. House would help him and House wasn't scared going out of his way to make him better.
''You can go home, you don't have to stay with me.'' Chase said then.
''No, it is okay, I will stay here.'' House said, grabbing the remote and zapping through the channels and Chase looked at him, wondering why the man stayed here with him.
''I don't have this many channels at home.'' House said then and Chase smirked for a small second.
''That is why you were okay with being my doctor?'' Chase joked and House nodded.
''It has to be boring for you, because there is no puzzle for you to solve, because I already have a diagnose. I just have to get it under control.''
House kept looking at the TV and looked aside then.
''Most of my patients are at least quiet, because they are scared. If I yell boo, will I scare you in being quiet too?'' House said then and Chase nodded with a smile and looked at the TV as well.
''We will get it under control.'' House said then. ''And you think you might be smart, but you are wrong. You might not be a puzzle for me, but you have lupus…which is something that I said it would never b-''
''Can you be quiet, I am trying to watch the TV.'' Chase said then with a smile and House just shook his head as they both looked back at the TV. Chase felt sad and relieved, but knew if there was any doctor that could help him, it was house. He didn't want any pity, he just wanted to get better and he was sure that House would not back down to help him get this disease under control.
NOTE: Chase has a diagnose and it was not an easy one. They wanted to help him all but Chase only wants help from house, sending Foreman and Cameron away. House agreed on being his doctor and Chase told him he wants to start with a pretty radical treatment to save his kidneys and House talked to Wilson about it. After that he spend the evening with Chase, helping him get the treatment. House wasn't so sure at firs tbut promise that they would get it under control. Although Chase is trying to positive as well.
I hope you really liked this chapter and thank you so much for reading. The next chapter should be up Tuesday or Wednesday. Please do leave a review before you go so I know what you think. Thank you!
