''Woman, 38, brought in here from the movie theater….couldn't bear the sound and lights and passed out….'' House said as he pointed at the files on the table when the door to the office opened. Chase, holding on to the IV pole walked inside, slowly. He had spent almost the whole morning getting dressed and had barely managed. He just wanted to start working, to keep his mind off things and he was feeling pretty okay today. Everything still hurt and he was feeling nausea from the treatment, but he really just wanted to go back to normal life, keep his mind of everything. Just doing some DDX'ing in the office would really take his mind of things. He was done looking at the ceiling, he really just wanted to get to work. He knew he didn't look great with his hair being a mess and wearing a lounge shirt on his jeans, but he didn't care anymore, as long as he had something to do today except for looking at the ceiling or boring himself with daytime TV.
''What are you doing here?'' Cameron asked surprised as he walked in.
''I am walking into the office I work, that isn't that strange.'' Chase said then, slumping down on a chair.
''Do I really need to bring you back to your room? I thought you were a big boy?'' House said but Chase shook his head.
''I feel fine, I can work.'' Chase said then and he took the file that was in front of Cameron and started reading.
''Chase you need to go back to you are room. You are sick!'' Cameron said then, worried. ''You are going through low dose chemo.''
''I feel fine.'' Chase said again, reading the file. He moved his hand through his hair, saw some large strains were left in his hands. His hair was already falling out because of the lupus and now with the low dose chemo, it only got worse. Before anybody could see it he moved it under the file. Foreman saw him doing so and just shook his head as he looked away and Cameron was looking at the empty table in front of her, like she was still trying to comprehend Chase had just taken her file.
''It could be-'' Chase said before Foreman interrupted him.
''We still have to take her history.''
''So take her history.'' House said then and Cameron and Foreman got up. As Cameron got up, she laid her hand on Chase's arm for a second, looking at him like she felt so sorry before she wanted to walk out.
As Chase closed the file, the hair came up from under it and Cameron and Foreman looked at. House quickly snatched it of the table.
''oh that is where I left my collection of goldilocks Chase hair…'' He said, throwing it in the trash bin really fast before they would make even more of a problem out of it.
Cameron and Foreman got up to do the tests while Chase just sat there.
House looked at Chase, sitting by the table. The man looked a little defeated by what had just happen.
''Foreman and Cameron are just jealous they don't have a collection of Chase goldilocks.'' House said then and Chase let go of a small smile.
''I don't want to be bored in my room all day long. I don't want to be looking at the ceiling all day long and do nothing. I need some purpose in life.'' He said then.
House was quiet then and sat down beside Chase.
''I want you to go back to bed and rest.''
''No!'' Chase said then, stubborn.
''Come on, go to bed and your doctor might come for you later when we did the test to talk about a diagnose.'' House said then and finally Chase got up, pulling himself up by the IV pole again as he felt so bad, but he knew House was right. Although he really wanted to be here in the office, he started to feel worse and worse and slowly he made his way to the door.
''Even I walk faster than you right now.'' House said dryly.
Chase rolled with his eyes and walked out then, slowly making his way to his room again. Struggling he walked through the last hallway, surprised House was sitting in his room.
''You are slower than me.'' House said swinging his cane. Chase made his way to the bed, House helped him sit down so he could lay down and Chase tried not to feel embarrassed.
''how did you even get here so fast?'' Chase asked then, tired and panting form the small walk from the office till here.
''This cripple climbs up the stairs faster than you walk.'' House said then.
''I wanted to be faster but then somebody started to pole dance against my IV pole.'' Chase said, trying to keep the conversation light. He already felt bad enough and making jokes made it somewhat easier. Made the pain and the fear he had go away for just a few seconds when he could laugh.
''So that is how Cuddy pays for all of her coffee.''
Chase started to laugh when he suddenly stopped.
''House….I am going to be sick.'' Chase said then.
''No…you are sick.''
''House, I am going to…'' Before he could finish his sentence House handed him a bucket and he just managed to grab it before throwing up.
''no work in the office tomorrow.'' He said then, dryly before House took the bucket from him.
''You can' just think you would feel better, you are on heavy medication. ''
''But I need a purpo-''
''You have a purpose, getting better. We can't cure you but as long as I can make you good enough to sit in my office again without throwing hair around everywhere, I am happy.''
''Oh you are just jealous of my hair.'' Chase said then, with a smile, glad that House was still not pitying him.
''I don't pay the cleaning lady to clean up your hair everywhere.'' House said then, shaking his head like he was serious.
''You don't pay her. Cuddy does.'' Chase mumbled.
''Who do you think pays Cuddy after hours?'' House said then, with a wink and Chase started to laugh.
Outside, Foreman and Cameron were looking at Chase laughing as he was talking with House.
''Who had ever expected this friendship would form?'' Foreman asked then.
''Well, House finally found somebody who is hurting just as much as himself.'' Cameron answered him.
NOTE: Chase suddenly shower up in the office, claiming he could work and he tried, but House send him back to his room. Chase really overestimated himself but luckily the jokes that he and House make him feel a little better.
Upcoming: House arranges something to make Chase feel better.
