Thank you so much for your response on the previous chapters! I am really glad you like the story so far and I hope you will like this chapter as well. Please tell me what you think after!
They looked through the study again and House opened a drawer, not finding much except for some old Czech newspapers.
House suddenly opened a double bottom in a drawer and held up an envelope, opening it then.
''house that was hidden.'' Chase said then. ''Maybe we shouldn't be looking at it.
''Isn't this the paper that you wrote a few months ago?'' House asked as he handed it to Chase and Chase took the envelope. House had opened it so his dad had never actually seen it.
''Yeah, it is.'' Chase said upset as he threw the envelope aside and walked out of the study. It hurt him, that his dad didn't even love to read a paper he had written,. his dad never had put any attention in his life but he had at least expected that his dad had been interested in his work.
''Chase?'' House asked as he walked out to the study as well.
He felt bad he was upset now and wished he had never opened that envelope. The envelope of his house in Melbourne was on there and he had taken it here, but he had never read it.
He walked outside then, looking for chase as he was now where to be seen in the bed and looking around he walked to the beach, somehow figured that Chase would be there because he seemed to fond of the beach and walked there. There was no sun today and it was rather cold because of the wind from the sea and the beach was mostly empty, when he saw Chase slumped down in the sand there in his t-shirt, looking over the water and House slumped down beside him, looking at Chase.
''I always went to the beach when I was upset from my family, that is how I got so into surfing.'' Chase said as he looked over the water, wanted to let all of his thoughts go away especially when it came to his dad but he was just upset that his dad was not better than he had expected.
''Come, back inside. I don't want you to get sick.'' House said but Chase just kept sitting in the sand. House sighed deep as he sat down beside the young man.
''Spit it out.''
''It is nothing.'' Robert just sighed, looking at the waves.
''Oh yeah right, that is why we are sitting on a cold beach, you not even wearing a jacket...'' House said then, Chase still quiet.
''I just thought that he would at least my paper because it was about work and that was all he ever seemed to care about. I thought it would be only thing that he would actually read and care about but again, he just disappoints me.''
''Ít is just a paper...I know he should have read it, but he was an asshole, don't get upset about one paper he didn't read.''
Chase was shivering as they walked home and House laid his coat around Chase's shoulder as the man was shuffling home, slowly as he was still upset.
Inside House told him to take a shower to warm up and Chase did so, not saying much while he walked to the bedroom and House walked back to the study.
As Chase was getting showered, House was looking in the study, picked up the paper of the floor that Chase had written. He was sad his dad had never seen it when he saw the timestamp of the mail, of when it had left the US. It was send to an address in Melbourne, probably where Rowan had lived with Nora and House looked at the paper.
''The benefits of family visits in the Intensive care unit.'' House whispered then. ''Written by Robert Chase.''
He sat down by the desk and started to read the paper. He knew Chase had written the paper but he had never read it yet and started to read it now and walked back to the living area then, Chase on the couch, curled up under a blanket and House hoped he wouldn't be too cold or even worse, get sick.
''I think your paper was amazing.'' House said then.
''You never read it before?''
''You never gave it to me.'' House said then as she sat down beside Chase.
''I thought you wouldn't think it was interesting.'' Chase just said and House shook his head.
''It was. You didn't have anybody with you.'' He said then, thinking about when Chase was so sick just a few weeks ago.
''You were with me.''
''I am not family.'' House said then.
''Well I don't really have any family so I don't think that my paper really applies to me anyway.'' Chase smiled then and House gave him a small smile back, glad that he hadn't been feeling alone when he was so sick.
''Maybe we can look through the study again.'' Chase said then as he wanted to get up but House pulled him down again.
''Not tonight, you should take some rest instead.'' House said then as he was still really worried about him, scared that he would get sick and finally Chase nodded and pulled the blanket over himself against as he still was cold as House tried to get the TV to work.
''We could also watch something on my laptop.'' Chase said then as he got it from his bag.
''Do you think your dad has any WI-FI here to actually stream a movie?'' House said then and Chase shook his head as he started it up.
''Dumbass.'' House teased him jokingly as Chase shut down the laptop again and they sat there in silence.
''Truth or dare.'' House said then and when Chase looked at him so surprised for starting this game he started to laugh. Finally Chase nodded.
''Are we really going to do this?'' Chase said and House wanted to offer that they could also go to sleep because Chase looked exhausted.
''Why not. I am pretty sure your dad doesn't have and VHS laying around with dirty movies.''
Chase shook his head but sighed then.
''Fine, truth.''
House leaned back, pulling up one eyebrow and Chase knew any question could come now because it was House.
''Did you ever feel alone while you were sick.''
''Sometimes.'' Chase shrugged although he wasn't sure how House would feel about that answer. But house just looked indifferent.
''Truth.''
''How about you?'
''Í had my wife...''
''Who agreed on a procedure you didn't want.'' Chase said.
''I hate this game.'' House shrugged then.
''You started it.''
''Touché.'' House said then, smirking at Chase. ''You are becoming a younger blonder version of me.''
''Truth or dare?'' Chase asked then.
''Dare, before you ask me the name of my favorite stripper.'
'''That is Karamel, with a K.'' Chase smirked. ''Okay, order us pizza.''
''That is not really a dare.'' House said rolling his eyes. ''You suck at this game.''
''I am hungry.'' Chase said then looked as House got up. ''Pizza Hawaii please. but with some extra onions and ask if...never mind..I don't want to mess up pizza for a dare.''
House made a silly bow and Chase chuckled.
''Well, guess I am going to order pizza then.'' House smirked and he got up and walked to the kitchen to call in the order and walked back to the living room.
''Got your ha-'' Suddenly he stopped talking as he saw that Chase was asleep now, curled up under the blanket. House smirked for a second but grabbed Chase's pillow then and put it under his head.
''Sorry I am just so tired...but other than that I am fine.'' Chase mumbled then but House also saw that the man was exhausted by everything.
''Just let me get your pills and you can go to sleep.'' House said then and made sure Chase took the pills.
As he laid back and House pulled the blanked over him he let go of a small smile.
''I have never felt alone...thank you.'' Chase admitted then.
''Sure.'' House said then and he flicked off the light and walked out of the room then.
NOTE: Chase and House looked farther through the study and house found a double bottom in the drawer and found the paper that Chase had mailed to his dad and that he had never read and Chase got really upset and walked out to the beach where House took him inside again before he could come sick and they spend the evening together playing truth or dare because House started it...but it ended with Chase falling asleep form exhaustion but has House looking after him.
Upcoming: Chase decides if he wants to keep looking through the stuff or not and they look at the old newspapers in the drawer.
