Tris pov
"Wake up, Tris, you don't want to miss breakfast again,"Tobias says as he shakes me. I groan and roll over away from him. "Tris, you need to get up,"he says and picks me up.
"You need to eat,"he says.
"I don't feel good, just set me down, I don't want to eat,"I say. That's when he freezes and slowly sets me down. There's a difference in him."What?"I ask as I stare at him.
"Tris, you're sleeping all day, you're sick, and your breasts are super sensitive."
"You grabbed them too much,"I argue.
"My hand wasn't even all the way on it."
"Yeah it was!"
"Watch, I'm going to barely touch them,"he says and reaches out. I watch as his palm barely touches my breast. Searing pain runs through it and I yell in pain.
"See! I think there's something different, and I don't think it's a bad thing,"he says with a smile. I gasp and smile at him.
"Do you think? Do you think that, that I could be pregnant?"
We've both been busy these past weeks that I completely forgot about trying to have a baby! I've just been so caught up in meetings and work. Tobias leans down and kisses me on the lips.
"I'll make an appointment,"I say.
"Okay,"he says with a smile.
When we get to the hospital, I fill out forms as Tobias sits next to me, his Four mask in place. A nurse comes out and says,"Mrs. Eaton?"
We stand up together and follow her to the room. I sit on the bed while Tobias stands with his arms across his chest and his foot tapping. I place a hand on his shoulder and he flexes.
"Honey, relax,"I say sweetly and move my hand over to his back where his Amnity tattoo is rub there. He sighs and says,"I'm sorry,"finally I'm seeing Tobias and not Four,"it's just, last time I was worried and this time I'm anxious. I haven't had this feeling in this kind of way before."
"Just try to relax,"I say and take his hand. I hate seeing him so stiff. It's like if he shows his soft side he'll explode. He's so tense and it makes me wonder if we're ready for this? I guess we'll just have to see.
He sits down next to me and kisses my cheek then he rests his forehead to mine, his nose touching my upper cheek. "What's on your mind?" He asks.
"The future."
He brings our clasped hands to his lips and kisses my hand.
"I love you,"he says.
"I love you too."
There's a knock on the door before the doctor walks in. Tobias instantly changes into Four. But he keeps his hand in mine. The doctor looks to be about mid thirties. Her hair is pulled back into a bun and she has piercings on her face. There's a tattoo of a Fox on her neck. "Hello, I'm doctor Jean, so I understand you two are here for a pregnancy test?"
"Yes,"I answer.
"Okay, I will be giving you a new test that we have found to be really accurate to tell if someone is pregnant. I will draw your blood first and tell a tablespoon of a 'PHD' serum, that stands for Pregnancy Hormone Detector. If it turns blue, that means you are pregnant, if it doesn't change, then you aren't."
"Okay,"I say. I watch as she prepares the needle to draw my blood. The pinch of needles are nothing to me now after all the times that I've been stabbed by one, I don't feel it anymore.
When she's done drawing my blood, she puts it into a small plastic cup. Then she pulls out a clear liquid and measures it out. "Ready?"She asks us when she has it all measured out and ready to go.
"Yes,"we say together.
I hold my breath a she pours it into the cup. I can feel the tension from Tobias. Combined with how tense I am, you could easily slice it with a knife. Slowly before my eyes, I watch as it turns darker and darker. It almost looks purple! Then it get stronger and it starts to lighten into a blue.
I gasp as soon as I'm sure it's blue.
"Well, congratulations Mr and Mrs Eaton, you are pregnant!"
"Thank you," Tobias says. I'm still frozen in my place as a thousand thoughts run through my head.
"I'm going to go run another test to see how many months. I'll be back soon with the months."
When she's gone, Tobias hugs me and kisses me. And that's when I realize how truly happy I am. Tears roll down my checks and I smile with him. He cries into my neck and shoulder happily, as I do to him.
His tears stop but mine continue to flow. He wipes them from my cheeks and then kisses me again. All my inhibitions are gone. And I allow myself to relax. He places a hand on my stomach and says,"I'm going to be there whenever you need me."
There's a knock on the door again and the doctor returns,"so the test I did says you are almost two months pregnant. After the first trimester you are usually clear if miscarriage, but not all the time. That's when I recommend telling people, but if you want to know I totally understand, and it should be safe to."
"Okay,"we say.
"Here are some books on pregnancy that I recommend reading. They will help tremendously. Also, we will be scheduling regular appointments for you."
"Thank you,"I say and shake her hand.
When we get home, I turn to him and say,"I think we should tell my parents first."
"Okay, I think we should tell them after the meeting Thursday. We could tell Caleb then too."
"Yes, I'd like that,"I say.
"Wow, can you believe this?"I say excitedly,"I just can't wait to tell our family and friends."
"Me too."
