CH 37: Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon
It was early in the morning along the coast of Kanto and a ferry vessel quickly moved through the water. Inside one of the ferry's rooms, Pikachu yawned before he stretched his body and opened his eyes. He looked down and saw his trainer was still asleep with his fiancee sleeping beside him.
"Chu." He saw yawning before he carefully climbed down onto Ash's chest before trying to fall back asleep.
Just before he could, Serena yawned and got up.
"It's morning! Wake up Ash!" Serena almost shouted.
"Huh what?" Ash said as he raised his head.
"We still have a lot of planning to do! We only got through half the halls." Serena said as she got out the other brochures. Ash and Pikachu sweat dropped. Ash was excited about getting married, but he was more excited about being married to Serena than the wedding itself.
Still, he knew she loved doing stuff like that, and had to go with it.
Ash gave a sweat drop smile with his eyes closed.
"Alright I guess we can look at some before breakfast." Ash said.
As Serena set them down Pikachu climbed down and also took a look at them.
Forty minutes later the three were at a table at the back of the ferry with Brock and Lucy having breakfast.
"So we should reach Cinnabar island by today, will you battle Blaine Ash?" Brock asked.
"If we can, what do you know about him?" Ash asked.
"He's a fire type trainer and according to my dad is a bit wacked in the head. " Brock said.
"Wacked?" Serena asked.
"He is known to be a bit strange, I met him once and he took me on a 4 hour scavenger hunt to find out where we were going to breakfast." Lucy said.
"What?" Ash asked.
"He's all about the big picture and unorthodox strategies." Brock said.
"I'll keep that in mind." Ash said.
"So I guess you'll be using Wartortle?" Serena asked.
"I will, I still don't know who else I'm going to use." Ash said.
Moments later they heard the ferry sound its horn.
"We're getting ready to dock? We can't be at Cinnabar island already." Brock said. Pikachu climbed onto the boat's rail and saw a large rocky island ahead of them.
"Pika." He said.
The group turned and saw the island as well.
"Is that Cinnabar island?" Serena said looking confused.
"That's not Cinnabar island." Ash said.
"We're here Tom." Another voice said.
They noticed a pair of men walking by them. One was wearing hiking like attire while the other wore a white jacket.
"Finally Drake island, I can't wait to get started." The man in the lab coat said.
"I can't wait to dig up some fossils." The man in the hiking like attire said.
"Drake island?" Ash said.
"Excuse me. I thought this boat was going to Cinnabar island." Lucy asked.
The two men turned to the group.
"It is, but it's stopping at Drake island for a few hours first." The man in the lab coat said.
"What's Drake island? I've never heard of it." Brock asked.
"Drake island is the location of the Grampa Canyon. A large number of fossils have been found their recently." The man in the hiking attire said.
"Fossils, like dinosaur pokemon?" Ash asked.
"Exactly, I'm a paleontologist and we found the mother-load there a few weeks ago." The man in the hiking attire said.
"Fossils, hey didn't you guys say you found some fossils in Mt. Moon?" Lucy asked.
"Yeah we did." Ash said remembering they still had the fossils.
"You kids have fossils? May I see them?" The man in the lab coat asked.
Ash took out his dome fossil as Serena took out her shell fossil and Brock took out his amber.
The two men looked at them.
"Ah a Dome and shell fossil. These were once a Kabuto and Omanyte. Both lived in the ocean, Kabuto lived around 300 million years ago near beaches. They had a large dome shell over their body with pincers under their body. Omanyte lived in deeper waters and were Ammonoiedeas. They had shells on their backs and blue skin with tentacles." The man in hiking gear said.
The man in the lab coat looked at the amber.
"This looks like fossilized blood, I'm not sure what it is , but I could find out at the lab. We could also revive them if you want." The man in the lab coat said.
"Revive them, really." Serena said.
"I thought only militaries had the technology to revive dinosaur pokemon?" Ash asked.
"They did, but earlier this year the Kanto Air Force let private scientist use the technology to study revived ancient pokemon better and use it to further our understanding of pokemon behavior and anatomy to better help pokemon." The scientist said.
"We need to get to Cinnabar island, but if the boat is stopping here for a few hours , would you guys want to stop here for a few hours , look around and have them revive our fossils?" Ash asked.
"Yeah, I'd love to see what kind of pokemon mine is." Brock said.
"We might not get this chance again, let's do it." Serena said.
"I'm in." Lucy said.
"Excellent, follow us and we'll show you around." The man in the hiking gear said.
As the ferry docked they walked onto the island with several other men and women in lab coats or hiking gear.
The island itself was mostly rock with no visible vegetation of signs of life. There were many small rock hills and mountains around the rocky ground that lead to a large canyon.
All around the canyon were over 3 dozen men and women in hiking like attire digging around or helping to move rocks in wheel barrels. There were also a few pokemon like Machoke, Graveler, and Rhydon helping to move the heavier items.
There were also several small tents set up around the equipment.
The group also saw several small makeshift buildings set up around the camp with scientists around them.
The man in the hiking attire lead them down to a tent where 3 men and a Machoke stood over a pile of assorted fossils.
"Mike you finally made it." One of the other paleontologists said.
"Yup, are these all the fossils we have so far?" Mike asked.
"Today's worth. We were about to take them to the restoration center. Who are these kids?" Another one asked.
"They're here to restore some fossils they found at Mt Moon." Mike said.
"Alright follow us." One of the Paleontologists said as he and the others picked up the fossils with the Machoke. They walked over to the largest makeshift building.
Inside were several large computers and machines with men and women in lab coats all around them.
"This is where the magic happens." One of the Paleontologists said.
A man in a lab coat walked over to them. He was older looking with long grey hair, blue eyes, a tall but thin body, and black glasses.
"Oh excellent you have more fossils. Come with us, let's see which ones are the most viable for restoration." He said before he noticed Ash and the others.
"Oh who are these kids?" He asked.
"I'm Ash, this is Serena, Brock, Lucy, and my partner Pikachu." Ash said.
"We have fossils we want to revive." Serena said.
"I see, I'm Earl. I'm the head scientist here. If you want your fossils revived follow me." Earl said before he lead them to another room. Inside were 2 other scientists and several small machines on a large table.
"This is where we check the viability of the fossils. The more dna they contain, the easier it is to revive them. What fossils do you have?" Earl asked.
Ash and the others placed them on the table.
"Ah a dome and shell fossil. You two will have a Kabuto and Omanyte. As for the blood , we'll have to examine it." Earl said.
The two scientists put the fossils under the machines while another took a drill and began drilling into the amber.
"It will be several hours before your pokemon will be ready. Would you like to see some of the other pokemon we have already revived?" Earl asked.
"Sure, I'd love to see what an Omanyte is like." Serena said.
As he lead them out, Ash thought about something.
"Hey do you have a transfer machine here?" Ash asked.
"Yes why?" Earl asked.
"We have dinosaur pokemon already from Kalos. I thought our new dinosaur pokemon could use some adjusting to the new environment and they could help." Ash said.
"That's a good idea." Serena said.
"You have dinosaurs from Kalos! Outstanding! This way!" Earl shouted.
Once they reached the machine Ash sent out his Pidgeotto and Serena sent out her Nidorina. They then received their other pokeballs.
When they were outside , Ash and Serena let out the pokemon. Brock, Lucy, and Earl's eyes widened as they saw none other than a massive Aurorus and Tyrantrum standing before them all.
"Aurorus and Tyrantrum." Earl said shaking.
Aurorus and Tyrantrum looked around at the many Paleontologists who were now staring at them. They then noticed Ash and Serena standing below them.
"Auuu." Aurorus said before she lowered her massive head to Serena and nuzzled her as Serena hugged her.
"It's good to see you too Aurorus." Serena said.
Tyrantrum licked Ash across nearly half his body with his massive tongue before letting out a happy growl. Ash noticed Tyrantrum had gotten a bit bigger and had grown more feathers on his body.
"I'm happy you're here too Tyrantrum. You've gotten even bigger." Ash said.
"Pika, Pikachu." Pikachu said smiling.
"Grauu." Tyrantrum growled back to Pikachu.
"Wow." Lucy said amazed at the two mighty dinosaurs.
"They're incredible." Brock said.
Tyrantrum and Aurorus turned to Brock and Lucy with confused looks.
"Oh right, Tyrantrum, Aurorus, these are our new friends Brock and Lucy." Ash said.
"Hello Tyrantrum, Aurorus." Brock said in a friendly tone. Tyrantrum moved his head closer and a bit past Brock as he sniffed him. Brock got a little afraid as some of Tyrantrum's feathers slid past him.
"Why is he sniffing me?" Brock said sounding nervous.
Tyrantrum put his massive head in front of Brock before opening his massive jaws and showed his banana sized and shaped teeth.
"Grauuu!" Tyrantrum roared making Brock jump back into Lucy's arms.
"He wants to eat us!" Earl shouted as he hid behind Lucy.
Tyrantrum then smiled and started to growl in a humorous manner.
"Alright Tyrantrum that was funny the first few times with Clemont, but it's not that funny anymore." Serena said.
Pikachu and Ash still laughed a little with Lucy.
"We're going to get new Dinosaur pokemon today and we want you two to help them adjust to the new environment." Serena said.
Tyrantrum and Aurorus nodded before they followed Ash and the others to the next building.
Outside the building were a few pens with pokemon inside.
Inside the first pen were several small pokemon. Some of them had large brown shells over their body , black undersides , yellow pincers, and red eyes.
The others were small blue squid like creatures with a large yellow shell on their backs.
In the pen beside it were another 2 pokemon. One looked like a larger version of the squid. It had a larger mouth that showed 4 pointed teeth each in a corner of their mouths. The tentacles came out of the bottom of their shells and the shell had 5 spikes across it.
The other was very tall with a brown spiked back and a grey plated chest. They had a half circle shaped head with 2 slanted eyes. Instead of hands they had large scythe like claws at the end of their arms.
"These are Kabuto and Omanyte, then their evolved forms Omastar and Kabutops." Earl said.
"Incredible." Brock said as he looked at the Kabutops.
Serena walked up to the pen with the Omanytes in it and knelt down in front of one.
"So you're an Omanyte. You're pretty cute." Serena said.
Aurorus lowered her head down to the Omanytes and looked at them as well.
One of the Omanytes moved closer to Serena and gave a slightly friendly look before Serena came in to pet him. He then looked slightly scared and let out a blast of ink that covered Serena's face.
"Omanyte!" Earl shouted.
"Serena are you ok?" Ash asked as Pikachu and the others sweat dropped.
Aurorus let out a small mist into Serena's face as she took out a rag and wiped her face clean.
"Well, that's not something I'm going to look forward to." Serena said.
"You just have to be careful around them early on. Some get anxious around new people. especially since they have never seen humans before." Earl said.
"I guess that makes sense, I mean the dinosaurs we saw in Kalos had spent years being raised by humans. These ones must be very young." Serena said.
Ash went over to the Kabuto and saw them moving around in the water filled pen.
They weren't doing much except staying in secluded areas, some with others.
"These Kabuto seem territorial." Ash said.
"Kabuto were known to try and conceal themselves and hold their own territory. We try to observe them more than train them though." Earl said.
As Lucy and Brock watched the other pokemon they noticed another larger pen.
"What's in there?" Lucy asked. She and Brock walked over to it and saw several large Aerodactyl inside.
"Woah, it's actually Aerodactyls." Brock said.
Ash and Serena came over with their pokemon to see the Aerodactyls.
"They're incredible." Lucy said.
"They're a little smaller than Aero." Serena said.
"Aero?" Brock asked.
"Red's Aerodactyl." Serena said.
"Oh right you talked about him before." Lucy said.
As Ash , Pikachu, and Tyrantrum watched the many Aerodactyls, they noticed something very strange. None of them seemed aggressive at all. They all seemed very happy, easy, and even playful.
Ash remembered how violent, and aggressive Aero was when Red first got him, not to mention Aerodactyls were suppose to be violent carnivores that attacked anything that moved. These Aerodactyls acted like they were almost Eevees. They were even eating fruit.
"Grauu?" Tyrantrum growled looking just as confused, also knowing Aerodactyls to be very violent.
When one of the Aerodactyl saw the group he smiled and flew over to them before licking Pikachu across the face.
"Pika?". Pikachu said sweat dropping.
"Grouu." Aerodactyl growled in a friendly tone.
"Why are these Aerodactyl acting this way? I thought they were suppose to be violent carnivores?" Serena asked.
Earl smiled.
"They were, but remember how I said the air force lent us this technology." Earl said.
"Yes." The group said.
"Well the Air force restoration devices were modified to change the violent tendencies of an Aerodactyl. That way they'd be easier to train. It certainly helps us so that we don't have them trying to eat us." Earl said.
"Well I guess that means if the blood you got from the amber is an Aerodactyl , yours will be just as docile." Lucy said.
"Awesome, that means he'll be that much easier to train and bond with." Brock said.
Meanwhile back in the main building the two scientists were looking at the vile of blood in the computer.
"That's Aerodactyl DNA alright." One said.
"There's something different about it. The strand looks different than any other one we've found." The second one said.
"That's because it's complete." The first one said.
"What? We've never gotten a complete strand before." The second one said.
"This is unbelievable, every dinosaur ever resurrected has been made of partial DNA that we've had to fill in. This is the first time we could recreate an Aerodactyl as it truly was back in the age of its existence." The first one said.
"Well, it won't be exactly the same. The machine will make him docile and will pacify some of his features." The second one said.
"What! We can't do that! This could be the greatest discovery we've ever had. A real Aerodactyl, not a pacified one." The first scientist said.
"A real Aerodactyl would be too dangerous. It could kill everyone here." The second scientist said.
"I can't believe you are going to give up on this opportunity." The first scientist said.
"I can't believe you'd risk our lives for this. I'm taking the DNA to get it revived the right way." The second scientist said as he prepared to extract the dna. As he did, the first scientist carefully switched the completed DNA for a partial one that they got earlier that day.
After the second scientist left the room, the first one smiled as he took out the complete DNA and took it over to another room with a massive restoration machine.
"Time to make a real Aerodactyl." The scientist said.
He placed the DNA into the machine and turned it on.
Several minutes passed before the machine's door opened and mist came out.
The scientist looked closer as the mist began to clear.
"Come on out real Aerodactyl." The scientist said as he took out a camera. When the mist cleared, he saw a pokemon standing inside the machine. It greatly resembled an Aerodactyl, except it was over twice as big as a normal Aerodactyl. Its skin was a much darker shade of grey, its teeth were big enough to stick out of its mouth. It had a two large spikes on the top of its head and 3 across its back. It also had large claws on the ends of its fingers and glowing red eyes.
"A real Aerodactyl." The scientist said with sparkling eyes.
The massive Aerodactyl turned his eyes to the scientist and began to growl.
The Aerodactyl moved out of the machine and unleashed a burst of wind with his wings, hurling the scientist back against the wall.
As he got up he saw the Aerodactyl get roar again and fly at him.
"Wait , wait, wait!" He shouted as he tried to run out of the room. As he did, the Aerodactyl smashed through the wall and then the ceiling.
"What the hell happened?" another scientist said.
"Uhhh, we have a problem." The first scientist said.
Outside the building the group heard a load crashing sound and a roar.
"What was that?" Serena asked.
"I don't know, but it sounds like it came from the main building." Earl said.
That is when Tyrantrum saw something in the air with his binocular vision.
"Grauu." Tyrantrum growled as he let Ash know something was wrong.
Ash looked up in the air and could feel a pokemon's aura. The pokemon had a very aggressive and violent aura, more than most Ash had ever felt.
The other dinosaur pokemon looked very scared when they heard this cry. They began to move around in a terrified manner, even the larger Kabutops and Omastars sounded terrified by this.
As the figure got closer they saw it, what looked like a monstrous version of an Aerodactyl.
"Grou!" It roared as it flew in and tried to snap his jaws around Serena.
Aurorus quickly got between the two and unleashed an Icebeam that hit the Aerodactyl and forced him away from Serena.
"Pikachu Thunder!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu leapt off Ash's shoulder and unleashed a massive bolt of electricity at the Aerodactyl.
The Aerodactyl quickly unleashed 4 large rocks that hit the Thunder and caused it to explode.
Tyrantrum opened his mouth and leapt up into the air trying to snap his jaws around the Aerodactyl.
The Aerodactyl flew to the side and unleashed more rocks into Tyrantrum's side, forcing him back onto the ground.
"Why is that Aerodactyl so much bigger than the others, and why is it attacking. I thought they were suppose to be made docile?" Brock asked.
"They are." Earl said.
That is when the group saw a scientist and 2 paleontologists walking towards them with another scientists being held by the two paleontologists.
"Earl we have a serious problem." The first scientist said.
"We know , an Aerodactyl has gone on a rampage." Earl said.
"That's no ordinary Aerodactyl, it's a real Aerodactyl from ancient times." The scientist said.
"What!?" Earl shouted.
"What do you mean real? Aren't all these pokemon real?" Serena asked.
"Technically no. With dinosaurs found in Kalos, the DNA is much better preserved because it was once very cold there. But since Kanto was warmer the DNA in the fossils is much less preserved, therefore most DNA we find is only partial and we have to work with it to revive the dinosaurs. Because of that the ones we recreate aren't exactly like the ones from ancient times, they're smaller and are only similar. But that Aerodactyl has all the DNA of a real Aerodactyl from ancient times, just like your Tyrantrum and Aurorus." Earl said.
"But I thought the machines were suppose to make it tame." Lucy said.
"It was, but Thompson had other plans." The scientist said pointing to the other scientist.
"I couldn't modify a dinosaur with perfectly preserved DNA." The scientist said.
"You fool, you may have doomed us all!" Earl shouted.
"It's just one Aerodactyl, we can handle one Aerodactyl, even if he is bigger." Ash said.
"Pika!".
"Grauu!" Pikachu and Tyrantrum shouted in agreement.
Ash could feel from his connection to Tyrantrum that he really wanted to get this Aerodactyl for some reason.
As the Aerodactyl looked down he saw the other Aerodactyls sitting in the pen looking frightened.
He unleashed a massive roar at them.
The other Aerodactyl looked up at the larger one as he roared again, showing his massive jaws.
That was when the other Aerodactyls' expressions changed. They looked more focused and aggressive.
"What's going on?" Serena asked.
"Oh no." Earl said.
"Aeroooooo!" The Aerodactyl cried out before the other Aerodactyls flew up and around him.
"They're following him now." Lucy said.
"He must have established himself as the Alpha." Ash said.
"But wait , doesn't that mean." Brock started before the Aerodactyls all started swarming around the camp, attacking everyone in sight.
"Look out!" A paleontologist shouted as he and two of his colleges ducked for cover with a Machoke over them as the Aerodactly tried to claw their way to them through the rocks they were hiding behind.
As 2 Aerodactyl flew at the group with their talons held out Aurorus stepped up.
"Aurorus use Blizzard!" Serena shouted.
"Auros!" Aurorus shouted as her side crystals began to glow and she unleashed a furious blizzard that engulfed two of the Aerodactyl's and caused them to crash into the ground.
Another 6 began to circle around the group , hurling large rocks down at them.
" Pikachu Iron tail! Tyrantrum Dragon tail!" Ash shouted.
"Pika chu!" Pikachu shouted as he smashed through the first rock, then used the force to propel himself to the next and smash it.
Tyrantrum smashed his massive tail into each of the incoming rocks , crushing them into pebbles.
After all the rocks were destroyed, the 6 Aerodactyl flew in at the group.
"Pikachu Thunder! Tyrantrum Head smash!" Ash shouted.
"Pika chu!" PIkachu shouted as he unleashed a massive bolt of electricity that hit 3 of the Aerodactlys and knocked them out.
At the same time Tyrantrum lowered his head and charged forward before smashing his skull into all 3 of the Aerodactyl's plowing them into the ground and knocking them out.
High in the air , the larger Aerodactyl saw Ash directing his pokemon and focused in on him.
"Aerooooo!" He shrieked before he flew in and unleashed a furry of boulders at the group.
Tyrantrum used his massive tail to smash some of the rocks, while Ash and the others dove away as the rest of the rocks smashed into the ground around them.
That is when Brock saw the massive Aerodactyl swoop in at Ash.
"Ash look out!" Brock shouted.
Ash's advanced senses altered him as well and he dove out of the way. The Aerodactyl made a sharp turn and came back, snatching Ash in his massive talons.
"Ash!" Serena shouted.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.
Ash tried to reach for his pokeball belt to send out Charizard, but the Aerodactyl slashed his talons close to Ash, it didn't hit his body but the belt causing it to get cut off and fall down to the ground.
"Aerooooo!" Aerodactyl shrieked as he flew off.
"Grauuu!" Tyrantrum roared in anger before he charged off after the Aerodactyl , leaving the others behind.
"Tyrantrum wait!" Serena shouted.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.
The some of the remaining Aerodactyls followed their alpha out of the dig site, while the others continued to attack the camp.
"He's got Ash." Lucy said.
"Oh this isn't good, what do we do now?" Earl asked.
"We find Ash. Pikachu and I can find him." Serena said.
"Are you sure?" Lucy asked.
"Pika!" Pikachu said nodding.
"Yes. You guys take care of the remaining Aerodactyls here." Serena said.
"Alright be careful out there Serena." Brock said.
Pikachu climbed onto Serena's shoulder as Serena climbed onto Aurorus's back.
"Alright we better knock out these Aerodactyl before they carry anyone else off." Lucy said as she let out her Seviper and Brock let out his Onyx.
Elsewhere Ash was caught between the Talon claws of the massive Aerodactyl. He looked down and saw he was several hundred feet in the air and that at any moment the dinosaur could let him fall to his death.
He knew the best option he had was to try and reason with the Aerodactyl. He took a deep breath and tried to connect to the Aerodactyl's aura. He felt the dinosaur's aura and saw pure aggression and violence. Ash tried hard to find any kind of compassion or reason, but found little.
As an aura guardian and pokemon trainer , Ash didn't want to believe that any pokemon was a mindless monster bend on just attacking anything that moved. But this Aerodactyl wasn't helping him there.
Things got was as when the Aerodactyl felt Ash's aura interact with his own , it only agitated him.
"Aerooo!" He shrieked before flying onto the top of a rock formation and dropped Ash onto it.
After Ash tumbled across the ground , he looked up and saw the Aerodactyl try to come in and gore him with his claws. Ash quickly unleashed a burst of aura that knocked the dinosaur off balance and allowed Ash to move out of the way.
Still, Aerodactyl came back and tried to snap his jaws around Ash.
Ash leapt up and propelled himself off the side of Aerodactyl's head, doing a front flip before landing.
Aerodactyl quickly turned again and tried to slash Ash with his claws.
Ash dropped to the ground narrowly avoiding the slash, before Aerodactyl came down again with another slash.
Ash quickly let out his hidden blades and moved to the side.
As Aerodactyl came down , Ash sliced his blades down over the claw and cut Aerodactyl's claw in half.
"Aerooo!" Aerodactyl cried out as he saw his claw get cut in half.
Ash saw another Aerodactyl flying around the base of the rock formation he was on.
He knew it was risky, but he had little choice. As the large Aerodactyl came back at Ash, he went to the edge of the rock formation and performed a leap of faith off the edge.
"Aeroo?" Aerodactyl said looking confused.
Ash soared through the air until he landed on the back of one of the other Aerodactyls.
"Aeroo?!" The Aerodactyl shouted as he felt Ash land on his back.
Ash held on tight as the dinosaur violently tried to force him off or bite him.
Ash connected his aura to the Aerodactyl's , praying to Reduka he'd have more luck with this one. Much to his relief, he found that the Aerodactyls were following the bigger out of basic instinct to do so. That they felt compelled to do so, but it wasn't in their nature to be violent anymore and they didn't want to be.
Ash was able to convince the Aerodactyl that he didn't have to follow the bigger Aerodactyl if he didn't want to.
The Aerodactyl looked back at Ash with a more docile look and nodded.
"Aerooo!" The head Aerodactyl shrieked as he ordered the other Aerodactyl's after them.
"Aerooo!" Ash's Aerodactyl cried as he dove down and tried to evade the other Aerodactyls who tried to hit him with Wing attack, Ancient power, and Crunch.
Ash's Aerodactyl either avoided them, or Ash forced them back with a burst of Aura.
Eventually the larger Aerodactyl came up from below and smashed into Ash's Aerodactyl with wing attack.
"Aeroo!" Ash's Aerodactyl cried before he crashed into the side of a rock formation. Ash and the Aerodactyl tumbled down across the rock formation until they hit the ground.
As they got up they saw the main Aerodactyl and his flock above them.
"Aerooo!" The head Aerodactyl shrieked as he flew in at them.
"Aeroo." Ash's Aerodactyl said in fear.
Ash grit his teeth as he prepared to unleash everything he had left to force the Aerodactyl away.
That is when Ash and the Aerodactyl on the ground felt the earth begin to shake.
"Aeroo?" Aerodactyl said in confusion.
Ash felt it getting closer and felt a familiar aura getting closer as well.
Just before the massive Aerodactyl could come in at Ash, Tyrantrum charged up and over to them smashing his massive skull into the Aerodactyl's chest, hurling him back into a rock formation.
"Grauuuu!" Tyrantrum roared.
"Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted.
As the Aerodactyl got up and back into the air, he saw Tyrantrum standing between him and Ash with a very determined look on his face.
"Aeroo!" The massive Aerodactyl shouted as he flew in at Tyrantrum and tried to use Iron Head.
"Tyrantrum Dragon Tail!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum growled as his tail glowed violet and he hurled it forward into Aerodactyl's face, hurling him back into the ground.
"Aeroo!" Aerodactyl shrieked as he got up and hurled 4 large boulders at Tyrantrum.
"Head smash!" Ash shouted.
"Grauuu!" Tyrantrum roared as he lowered his head and sprinted forward , crashing his skull through each boulder and turning them into pebbles before he smashed his head into Aerodactyl's chest, hurling him back into a rock formation.
"Aerooo!" Aerodactyl cried.
"Tyrantrum use Head smash." Ash said.
Just before Tyrantrum could come in to finish Aerodactyl, another 2 Aerodactyls flew in from behind and hit Tyrantrum with Iron head.
"Grauu." He grunted.
That was when Ash saw another two Aerodactyl coming in from the sides.
"Tyrantrum to your sides!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum turned to one side and saw the first Aerodactyl, however , the second Aerodactyl hit his other side with Iron head. As he was pushed back , the second Aerodactyl hit his side with Iron head.
"Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted.
"Aeroo!" The Aerodactyl beside Ash shrieked.
As Tyrantrum tried to regain his footing the massive Aerodactyl flew in and smashed his Iron head into Tyrantrum's chest, hurling him onto the ground.
Aerodactyl stood over Tyrantrum's throat with his jaws held wide open as Tyrantrum groaned.
"No!" Ash shouted as he tried to sprint over.
The Aerodactyl hurled Ash back with a gust as 2 of the Aerodactyl flew out at Tyrantrum. That was when Ash saw a massive bolt of electricity flew through the air and hit them.
"Aerooo!" The Aerodactyls cried before falling to the ground.
Ash and the others looked up to see Aurorus with Serena on her back and Pikachu on her shoulders.
"Serena! Pikachu!" Ash shouted.
"Aurorus use Aurora beam!" Serena shouted.
"Auros!" Aurorus shouted as she unleashed a large beam of icy energy right at two of the Aerodactyl, knocking them out.
The larger Aerodactyl looked up at Aurorus and roared.
Moments later he didn't notice Tyrantrum get back up.
"Crunch!" Ash shouted.
"Grauuu!" Tyrantrum roared as he snapped his massive jaws around Aerodactyl's neck.
"Aeroo!" Aerodactyl shrieked as he squirmed around in Tyrantrum's jaws. Tyrantrum snarled as he dragged Aerodactyl across the ground in his jaws.
"Aeroo!" Aerodactyl shrieked as he tried to claw at Tyrantrum's side with no avail.
"Yeah keep going Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted.
"Get him!" Serena shouted.
"PIka!".
"Auros!".
Tyrantrum continued to drag Aerodactyl across the ground until he hurled him in front of himself.
"Head Smash!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum plowed his skull into Aerodactyl's chest so hard that when they hit a large rock formation , it was smashed into pieces and Aerodactyl landed on the ground with swirly eyes.
Upon seeing this Tyrantrum raised his head and opened his jaws.
"Grauuuu!" He roared.
"Aeroo!" The Aerodactyl shouted , happy to see the larger Aerodactyl beaten.
When the other Aerodactyls saw their alpha knocked out, their aggressive expressions reverted back to the docile-happy expressions.
"Well looks like they're back to normal. " Ash said. Serena and Pikachu climbed down from Aurorus and went over to Ash.
"Ash, you're safe." Serena said before she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him.
"I owe that to Tyrantrum and this Aerodactyl." Ash said.
"Aero." The Aerodactyl said.
"Thank you for helping Ash." Serena said.
"Pika." PIkachu said.
Ash and the others turned back to the large Aerodactyl.
"What do we do about him?" Serena asked.
"I don't know, he was Brock's fossil so It's up to him to decide." Ash said.
Tyrantrum carried the Aerodactyl back in his jaws to the dig cite where they met the rest of the group.
"You have the Aerodactyl. Outstanding" Earl said.
"So Brock, are you going to catch him. He did come from your amber." Ash asked.
Brock looked at the Aerodactyl and sweat dropped.
"I don't think I need to catch him." Brock said.
"Well, if you want you can have my Kabuto when he's ready." Ash said.
"Really." Brock said.
"I don't mind. Besides he's a rock and water type, I think he'd do well with you." Ash said.
"Thank you Ash." Brock said.
"About your fossil pokemon. Because of the destruction that happened here, it could be some time before we can get them ready. If you're going to Cinnabar island I can meet you there when they're ready." Earl said.
"Ok that's fine." Serena said.
"Aerooo." The Aerodactyl that helped Ash said as he moved closer to Ash and licked the side of his face.
"Huh?" Ash said.
"Aeroo!" He said smiling.
"Pika." PIkachu said. According to Pikachu the Aerodactyl had grown very fond of Ash and the way he raised his pokemon. He wanted to come with him.
"Aerodactyl, you want to come with me." Ash said.
"Aeroo!" Aerodactyl said nodding.
"Earl I." Ash started.
"Take him, you saved us all." Earl said.
"Alright, we'd love to have you with us." Ash said as he took out a pokeball and touched it to Aerodactyl's head.
The Aerodactyl was sent inside and stayed there until he was caught.
"Alright I caught an Aerodactyl." Ash said before the pokeball was sent to Oak's lab.
"Now you and Red have one." Serena said.
"What are you going to do with the larger Aerodactyl?" Lucy asked.
"We have a containment unit here to keep him in. We'll contact the Air Force and have them take him, we don't need that kind of pokemon around here." Earl said.
"Good luck with the rest of your excavating." Serena said.
"Good luck on your journeys, take good care of Aerodactyl." Earl said.
The group went back onto the ferry and stood by the railing as Drake island got further and further away.
"That was quite an interesting day." Serena said.
"You can say that again." Lucy said.
"Still it was nice getting to see your dinosaur pokemon, plus Ash got a new one." Brock said.
"Yeah, I did." Ash said.
"Tomorrow we'll be at Cinnabar island. Ash can have his gym battle and hopefully I can find out about my next showcase." Serena said.
Later that night Earl saw a military Helicopter land in the base of the camp and 3 men step out.
Each wore a black uniform with a tan CIRAS type tactical vest. They had a cant flag patch symbol on their right shoulder , black balaclavas and tactical goggles attached to their helmets. Two had MP5s in hand and the third had an M9 pistol in the holster.
The two with the MP5s had patches on their arm sleeves of a blue sphere with a white star in the center. Coming out of the sides of the sphere were white a pair of white bars moved slightly up like a pair of wings.
The third in the center had a single silver bar on the collar of his uniform.
They walked up to Earl and stopped right in front of him.
"First Lieutenant Daniels, Kanto Air Force. We're here to pick up your Aerodactyl you wanted to get rid of." The airman with the silver bar on his uniform said.
"Excellent, this way." Earl said. He lead them to a building and inside.
"This monster nearly destroyed our facility, be very careful with him." Earl started before they reached the containment device and saw it was empty.
" What?!" Earl said.
The Airmen saw several scientists knocked out in the corner.
"Sir." One said as the Lieutenant also saw them.
He drew his pistol and let out a Kabutops as his Airmen each let out an Omastar.
"We have an intruder here. We have to lock down the island." The Air Force officer said.
Elsewhere on a large rock formation overlooking the camp stood none other than Seir with his Garchomp beside him. He was looking in his hand at a black pokeball he was holding. When he looked back at his Garchomp and climbed onto his back before the dragon shark took off and glided across the ocean.
Author's note
So I finally got the dinosaur chapter in, and we got to see Tyrantrum again.
I know you expected Ash to get Kabuto, and Brock to get Aerodactyl, well that was the original plan but things happen and this worked out better.
Now on to more serious matters, I have been thinking about the future after I finish this story, AFTER I FINISH THIS STORY, I know I made it seem like I'd do a story on the events after this book, and I'm still considering it.
But I've been thinking of maybe do another story before that, this story would be about one of my favorite areas of the pokemon franchise. Pokemon Mystery dungeon, more specifically a fanfiction on the new Super Mystery dungeon game coming out this holiday, which you can bet anything I'm going to buy the day it comes out.
But before I get any work started on the story I was wondering what you guys think of the idea of a Mystery dungeon fanfiction, I'd love to do one, but I'd like your guys input.
