Tris pov
The meeting is very slow and long, but that's probably because I'm so excited to tell my parents. I'm also feeling a little nauseous, so that doesn't help the meeting go by either. Marcus goes on and on about some new way to help the factionless. Tobias jots down information to report back to Tori and Harrison. I rest my hand on my still flat stomach and rub it, trying to calm down my upset stomach.
"Four, what is the reporting on Dauntless?"
"We haven't had any problems. There's nothing to report." He says stiffly.
"Okay. Caleb Prior, what is the reporting on Erudite?"
"There was a small problem with our serum but we are getting it under control."
"Well, it looks like that is the end of our meeting."
Tobias and I meet my dad and brother outside of the building.
"Beatrice, er, Tris,"my dad says.
"Hi dad,"I say.
"Hello, Four." My dad says nodding towards Tobias.
"Hello, Mr Prior."
"So, where's mom? Because I have news for all of you."I say.
"She's back home, why don't you guys come there?"
"Sure."
Since my dad walked here, we give him a ride back home. Mom is gathering together food for the factionless. "Hi, mom."I say.
She turns around and says,"Beatrice! Four! It's great to see you two."
"Hello, Mrs Prior," Tobias says as she hugs us.
"What brings you two here?"
"We have some news for you guys."
"Oh! I hope it's good news." She says.
"Yes, very good news." I say.
"Okay, so let's hear it!"my dad says cheerfully.
"Well,...I'm pregnant!"I say happily.
They all look very surprised and it takes them a moment to process this information. My mom is the first to say something. "Wow, this is great news. A baby, wow. But you do realize how young the two of you are? I mean you're only 18."
"Yes. We thought about that before we starred trying for a baby."
"So you guys planned this?"
"Yes,"Tobias answers.
"We talked about it and decided together that we wanted a baby,"I don't tell them about the pregnancy scare that gave us the thought of having a kid. They're better off not knowing.
"Well, congratulations,"my dad says with a sincere smile.
"Wow, this is great. Congrats, sis." Caleb says.
"Thanks,"I say to them.
"And if you ever need help, we're here,"my mom says.
"Thank you, mom."
"Four, why don't you and I have a little chat,"my dad says.
"Okay,"Tobias says. He follows him outside, shutting the door behind him.
"Beatrice, Caleb, will you two help me with lunch?"
"Sure,"we say at the same time. We both turn to each other and start laughing. We both get up and make our way to the kitchen. As I chop up the vegetables, my mom asks me questions.
"So when did you find out?"
"Monday."
"How did Four react?"
"He was so happy, just as I was."
"That's good. Don't take this the wrong way, but he just doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would have kids, ya know?"
"Yeah, he can come off that way. I was a little surprised that he wanted a baby too."
"You are going to love being a mom,"my mom says,"it's one of the greatest feelings ever. And the love you are going to have for the child is like nothing you've ever felt before. It's a different love, and believe it or not, but you'll love it more than anything else. It's the strongest feeling you can have. You'll do anything to protect it."
She smiles and kisses us each on the cheek,"that's why I love you two so much."
"We love you too mom,"we both say together.
"Speaking of love,"she says,"any girls in your life, Caleb?"
"Actually, yes. There's this girl I've been dating for a while. She's also a leader. Her name is Amelia, she works with me on all the projects. She's amazingly smart."
"Oh that's nice,"my mom says with a smile.
"Oh, yes. Amelia is very nice,"my dad says as he walks in, closely followed by Tobias.
After lunch, Tobias and I say goodbye to my family and head back to Dauntless. "So how'd the talk with my dad go?"
"It went very well. He gave me a lot of fatherly advice. I never thought I'd get that considering I have shitty parents."
"Mine are always there for you,"I say.
"Yeah."
"So I guess we should tell our friends."
"Yeah."
When dinner finally arrives, we go to our normal table and wait for all of our friends. Uriah and Marlene arrive a little late, looking disheveled.
Tobias stands up and says in his deep loud voice,"we have an announcement."
Our table stops and looks at him.
I smile at our friends and say,"I'm pregnant!"
Our whole table erupts into whoops and cheers. Cups are banged on the table and congratulations are said. There's clapping and laughing, and cheering which soon makes everyone in the cafeteria join in.
"This calls for more cake!" Uriah says.
Christina gets up and hugs us both saying,"I'm so happy for you two!"
Then I'm bear hugged by Zeke and Uriah.
"Way ta go Four!" They tell Tobias.
Zeke jumps up onto the table and raises a glass yelling,"to Four and Tris! And their future baby!"
"FourTris!" Everyone in the cafeteria yells.
Tobias hugs me from behind and places a hand on my stomach. He kisses my cheek and says,"I love you, Tris."
"I love you too, Tobias,"I say just loud enough for him to hear. I yawn and he says,"are you ready to go home?"
"Yes. This day has been exhausting."
"Anything you desire, love."
"I desire you."
