Tris pov
We have a funeral for Daniel which consists of everyone, but Tobias and I, getting drunk. That's just how Dauntless deals with lose. But as soon as the funeral is over, we are back to looking for clues about this woman who slipped into Dauntless.
Besides the "deleted" footage, we don't know.
Tobias has been extra protective of me though. Even though we rarely down time apart, he has changed his scheduling to match mine so that we aren't apart for long. If anything, he's just across the hall.
Every morning he walks me to my office and stays with me for a couple of hours, until he actually has something to do in his office or he really needs to focus. Most of the time he brings his work to my office though. And sometimes we get off topic...
My bump is starting to show more, which my mom said is normal. I've been talking to her a lot lately. She explains a lot to me about pregnancy and motherhood. She tells me that this is the point where I'm going to show more, that is if I'm like her. Which from the looks of it, I am.
Tobias loves it when I wear a tight shirt so that he can see my bump. It's getting hotter so I don't wear much, mainly camisols. I'm writing down the approval of another shop, when I notice Tobias staring at me.
"What?"I ask him.
"I love seeing your bump. Every time I see it, it reminds me that you are carrying my child. And I swear my heart grows even more just knowing that we made this together. Out of our love and passion."
"God damn it, Tobias!" I say crying,"this isn't fair! My hormones are making me so emotional and now you're saying beautiful things! I can't deal with this!"
He smiles and leans into kiss me. "It's the truth,"he says placing a hand on my stomach. He holds me in his warm comforting arms as he strokes my hair.
"I love you,"he whispers.
"I love you too."
We brake apart and I wipe my tears. He kisses me on the lips lightly and takes my hand in his. My other hand covers his on my stomach. There's a knock on my door and I say,"come in."
"Have you seen- oh there you are," Tori says looking at Tobias,"we've found another clue to this mystery woman."
"What is it?" He asks.
"She appeared on our footage this morning. She made the same mistake of deleting the footage again. But that means she slipped by the guards, or someone's on her side."
"What was on the video?"
"She was dumping a tin box into the Chasm, but we can't get her face. She has knowledge of the blind spots in the cameras and obviously knows where they are. But we did get a glimpse of blonde hair. But that's all we could distinct from the video and that is an easy change for her."
"Is there a way that we can retrieve that box?"
"I'm afraid that with the current of the Chasm, it would either be long gone or destroyed. We can check the grates at the end before it exits Dauntless to see if anything caught, but I'm afraid the chances of it being there are slim to none."
"Okay, thank you, Tori." I say.
"I think we should all talk about what to do. We already have two dauntless members in the infirmary and one dead. What if next time, it's one of us?"
"You're right, we can't afford to lose anyone. Where's Harrison?"
"I'll get him,"she says before leaving.
When she returns, she is with Harrison.
"So what should we do? We need to protect our people."
"We could take shifts of watching the cameras at night. That's when she strikes. We could get the people we trust to help us. And we play it by ear I guess." Harrison suggests.
"That's a great idea, but what about Tris. She needs as much sleep as she can get. She shouldn't be doing too much either. She is pregnant."
"Four,"I say,"I'm fine. I can still help. I want to still help."
"She'd obviously be with you, so if she wants to rest, she can."
"I'm pregnant, not dead,"I mumble.
Tobias sighs irritably.
"We could bump up our nightly go arounds." Tori suggests.
"We're dealing with someone smart and dangerous, we would need them to be our best in case they do come upon her." Tobias says.
"Yes. I'll get a list of our top ranking initiates from the past couple of years, and people we can trust." Harrison says.
"Then it's decided,"I say.
"Yes." Tori says.
"Yeah,"says Harrison.
Tobias takes my hand and squeezes it telling me his answer.
"This needs to start as soon as possible."He says.
Tobias and I stand in the control room waiting for everyone to come. Our list consists of our friends and the top initiates:
Zeke, who we offered to let him stay with Shauna but he is eager to find the son of a bitch who did this to Shauna,
Marlene and Uriah,
Nikki and Ross,
Will and Christina,
Harrison and Tori,
And Zane and Alta.
"We've gathered all of you because we can trust you and you are great fighters. Someone is in dauntless who shouldn't be. She's known as 'the blonde shadow' she left Shauna in a coma and Daniel dead. She is dangerous. So we need you all to patrol the compound and look for any suspicious activity. Tris, Zeke, and I will be in the control room because she always somehow finds her way here because we're found deleted footage. That or someone deletes it for her. We will be the only ones here tonight."
"What do we do if we come across her?" Nikki asks.
"Go with your instincts, but don't kill her, no matter how badly you want to put a bullet through her head. We need her for questioning."
"Any more questions?"I ask. No one says anything.
"Lets get this over with then," Tobias says.
