Tris pov
The nextday at breakfast, I see Nikki. I stop her and pull her to the side.
"I didn't mean to ease drop, but I did. So how are you?"
"I'm okay, I just...I just don't want my time here to be ruined because I'll be taking care of a child."
"Nikki, there are a lot of parents in dauntless, and they still do crazy things. You just have to learn to balance it. As long as you love that child with everything you have and don't neglect it. And try to be some what safe, I think you'll do fine."
"Thanks, Tris."
"So did they tell you how far along you are?"
"I'm a month. What about you?"
"Three and a half."
"Oh, they aren't very far apart,"she says.
"Yeah, and how does Ross feel about it?"
"He's scared, like me, but he told me that he would love me and this baby forever."
"That's sweet."
"How did Four react when you told him?"
"We actually decided together that we wanted to have a baby, so he was really excited."
"That's good. I'm not really sure how to tell people."
"I suggest telling the really important ones first, then just telling everyone else at a different time. But do it on your own time. Don't feel like you have to rush, you probably won't start showing for a while. Hell, I barely just started showing."
"I guess we should tell my parents and his dad. And Zane of course."
"What about his mom?" I ask.
"His mom died four years ago to a gun shot to her heart."
"That's so sad."
"Yeah, it destroyed him. He was so close to her. Soon after that we started dating. And now, here we are."
"Wow, four years, that's a long time. I haven't even known Four that long." I say.
"You don't always have to know them long to love them."
I place my hand on my stomach and nod.
Tobias comes back with our breakfast. "Hello, Nikki, how do you feel?"he asks.
"Fine I guess,"she sighs.
"Why don't you and Ross sit with us today?" I ask.
"Okay,"she says,"he's getting the food but then we'll come and sit with you."
"Okay,"I say.
When we get to the table, we find that Uriah and Marlene are there.
"You're awake!" I say when I see her.
"Yeah, she woke up a few hours later."
"And Shauna?"I ask.
"Not yet," Zeke says somberly.
I take a bite of my dauntless cake, and find everyone looking at me strange except Tobias and Uriah.
"What?" I ask.
"Cake in the morning?" Zeke asks," has Uriah gotten into your head?"
"No, I'm pregnant, I have cravings, and today I have a craving for cake." I take another bite but it doesn't taste right. I get sick instantly and run to the bathroom, Tobias chasing behind. As I puke into the toilet he says,"I guess you don't have a craving for cake anymore."
"That cake is disgusting!"
When we sit back down I say,"that cake doesn't taste right, it's disgusting!"
"Let me see, there's no way cake can be gross," Uriah says taking a bite of my cake.
"Tastes fine to me,"he says.
"You can have it,"I say pushing it towards him.
Tobias' phone goes off and he tells me,"there's been a call for a mandatory meeting. All the leaders have to go."
"Okay,"I sigh.
When we get to the meeting, I find my dad talking to Caleb and another Erudite leader. "Hi dad, Caleb,"I say as we walk up.
"Tris, I want you to meet my girlfriend Amelia. She's also a leader. Amelia, thus is my sister Tris and her husband Four."
"Hello, I'm Amelia,"she says shaking our hands,"correct me if I'm wrong, but judging by the way you're standing with your hand on your stomach, I'm guessing you're pregnant?"
"Yes,"I say looking down at the small protruding bump barely visible by my tight shirt.
"Congratulations,"she says. Amelia is tall, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. Her pale complection shows no freckles. She is also quite slim. Her cheek bones are high and she kind of reminds me of Jeanine. But most Erudite look like that.
Caleb smiles at me, his hair has gotten lighter. Almost like he dyed it. It looks so much blonder then before. "Did you dye your hair?"
"No, it just started turning blonde, I don't know why?"
"Oh, that's weird,"I say.
Marcus calls the meeting to attention so we take our seats.
"We've called this meeting today to discuss the problems that have happened lately." He says,"Four, Tris, why don't you two explain what has happened lately?"
Tobias speaks first,"someone has broken into Dauntless. We don't know who, but we have an idea of what she looks like. She put one of our best in the hospital. She hasn't woken up yet. And she's shot at us with these different guns. They put these balls into our skin, and we don't know what it's capable of? We don't know why she's targeted Dauntless, but we are working on finding out. We will catch her."
"Caleb, we're asking for the help of Erudite to figure out what these do,"I say and show them the ball on my shoulder. "And we are asking for everyone to keep an eye out, we don't know what she wants, but she might be after the secrets of every faction. So keep an eye out."
Jack Kang is the first to stand and say something, typical for a Candor,"when you catch this person, Candor will be open for an interrogation."
"Thank you, Jack," Tobias says.
"Of course I'll help you, Tris," Caleb says.
"Amity will continue to lend sanctuary for anyone who comes, but we will keep a helpful eye out," Johanna says.
"Thank you,"I say to both.
"Abnegation is always here to lend a helping hand," my father says.
"Thank you, dad."
Marcus finishes with idea to boost the security, and then ends the meeting. Before we leave, Caleb asks to see the bullet. I allow him to examine it and I ask,"do you know if it will harm the baby? That's my biggest priority now."
"I don't believe so, I've seen these before... they're from Erudite."
