Ch 43: Ivysaur's mystery garden.
It had been a few days since the group had left Neon City and were now on route 16.
They had just gotten up and were sitting around a fire having breakfast with their pokemon.
"So , now that we're out of the desert where exactly are we headed next?" Serena asked.
"Yeah isn't Saffron city still under team rocket control?" Brock asked.
"Well Kaz said it would still be another month until his gym is ready to begin accepting challengers, so the next closest gym would be in Tarvel city. It's a ways away, but Red told me a gym opened there last year."
"Tarvel city, that's where my mom's from. I wouldn't mind visiting there." Lucy said.
"I'm just glad we're finally out of the desert, these forest is beautiful." Serena said
"I've noticed Ivysaur likes it." Ash said.
While the other pokemon ate, Ivysaur simply stared out and around at the forest taking in the air and atmosphere, with a look of peace and tranquility on his face.
"Moaa?" Tauros huffed in confusion.
"Pika?" Pikachu said as he walked over and asked Ivysaur what he was doing.
"Saur." Ivysaur said sounding very relaxed.
"Pika." Pikachu said nodding as he turned to the other pokemon.
"Grauu." Charla growled asking what was going on.
"Pika, Pikachu." Pikachu said explaining it to the pokemon.
"Ivysaur's not the only one. The aura of this place if very tranquil and alive. It's very pleasant to be around." Lucy said.
"It is." Ash said.
After finishing breakfast, Ash took his pokemon out to do some training.
Charizard stood in front Ivysaur as the grass started stood in an aggressive stance.
Charizard hurled several large rocks at Ivysaur.
"Dodge them!" Ash shouted.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted as he dodged each one.
"Great now use Vine whip!" Ash shouted.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted as he unleashed his vines on the next few incoming rocks, splitting them in half.
"Great work Ivysaur, now let's try that one move I learned from the time flower." Ash said.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted sounding excited.
He stood in front of a large boulder while Ash's other pokemon stood behind him , interested to see if he would pull it off.
"Saur." Ivysaur said trying to concentrate.
He tried to funnel all his grass power and the extra energy he felt from the forest into this attack.
"Saur!" He shouted as he glowed green and the ground began to shake. Ash and his other pokemon watched closely as the tremors moved closer to the rock but stopped before it could reach it.
Ash noticed the ground in front of the rock began to break.
"Saur." Ivysaur sighed.
Ash and Pikachu walked over to him.
"It's alright Ivysaur, you're doing better. Don't worry, it took Charizard a while to learn Blast burn, but he did and you'll eventually get this one." Ash said.
"Saur." Ivysaur said with his head raised.
"Now you want to try again?" Ash asked.
"Saur!" He shouted.
After finishing training with each of his pokemon, Ash met up with the others so they could could continue down the path. Ash let Ivysaur stay out of his pokeball so he could keep enjoying the forest.
"Saur." Ivysaur said.
Ash could feel from his connection to Ivysaur just how much he enjoyed the forest itself.
Serena and the others began to notice as the moonlight shined on the forest, many flowers began to reveal themselves.
"Hey guys look." Serena said as she pointed to the flowers as they bloomed in the white light.
Moments later they also noticed a series of sparkling lights coming out of the flowers.
"Hey these look like moon flowers." Brock said.
"Moon flowers?" Serena asked.
"A special flower native to Kanto, apparently they feed off of lunar light and the energy emitted by the grass pokemon of the forest, particularly Bulbasaur and it's evolutions. That's why it grows in Kanto only." Ash said.
"Saur." Ivysaur said as he walked over to the flowers and inhaled the aroma as several of the sparkles flew around him.
It was then Ivysaur felt and heard something else that quickly caught his attention.
"Saur." He said as he looked deeper into the forest.
Ash could feel that something was bothering Ivysaur.
"Is everything alright?" He asked before he felt the aura of the forest turn from tranquil to more hostile.
"Huh?" He said.
"Ash can you feel that?" Lucy asked.
"Yeah, the forest aura just changed."
"Changed how?" Brock asked.
"It seems more hostile." Ash said.
"Hostile?" Serena asked.
"It's hard to explain. But there's defiantly something going on in the forest." Lucy said.
"Saur." Ivysaur said as he ran into the woods.
"Ivysaur where are you going!?" Ash shouted.
"Pika, Pikachu!".
Ivysaur just kept running deeper into the forest.
"Ivysaur wait!" Ash shouted as he chased after him.
Hold on Ash." Brock said as he and the others tried to keep up with him.
As Ivysaur reached an open area of the forest he saw what he thought he heard. In front of him were two groups of Bulbasaur and Ivysaur battling each other.
"Saur!?" Ivysaur said as he saw the 2 groups using Razor leaf, vine whip, and tackle on each other.
He noticed one group's skin patches that were green on his body were red and on the other group was blue.
"Saur!" The two groups growled at each other as they kept fighting.
Moments later Ash and the others reached Ivysaur and saw what was happening.
"Woah, what's happening?" Brock asked.
"It looks like a pokemon turf war." Lucy said.
"We have to stop them." Ash said.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted as he sprinted in between the two groups and held his vines up in front of both groups.
"Saur!" He shouted again.
The 2 groups stopped for a moment, looking at Ivysaur before trying to continue the attack.
Ivysaur used his vines to knock away the razor leaves and other vines.
As several Bulbasaur and Ivysaur came in to use tackle on each other, Bulbasaur used Leech seed on some and Sleep powder on the rest.
The leech seeds sapped the Bulbasaur and Ivysaurs' energy and brought them to the ground as the sleep powder put the others to sleep.
The remaining Bulbasaur and Ivysaur all turned to Ivysaur.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted.
The two groups started to back up a little.
"Good job Ivysaur, you stopped the fighting." Ash said.
Moments later the group heard something else, it sounded like large footsteps coming from both directions.
"What was that?" Serena asked. Moments later the group saw a pair of large Venusaur one with red patches on his skin and one with blue.
"Saur!" The two roared as they stood in the center of their respective groups and faced each other.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted as he tried to stop them.
"Saur!" The two roared before charging at each other.
"Ivysaur look out!" Ash shouted.
Ivysaur tried to stop them with Sleep powder but was knocked aside by one of the Venusaur's vines and landed on the ground in front of them as they charged forward.
"Pika!"
Ash sprinted forward and dove across the ground and grabbed Ivysaur before rolling across the ground avoiding them.
The two Venusaur then clashed , using double edge, and vine whip.
The other Bulbasaur and Ivysaur then continued fighting.
"This is getting bad, we need to stop them." Brock said.
Ash and Lucy tried to use their aura to persuade the Bulbasaur, but they were so engaged in the heat of battle they didn't want to listen.
"Alright if they don't want to listen , we do this the hard way." Ash said as he took out a pokeball and threw it forward before touching his mega evolution stone.
Ash's Charizard came out and Mega evolved before roaring extremely loudly.
All the Bulbasaur looked up and had terrified expressions upon seeing Mega Charizard Y.
"Charizard use Flamethrower to scare them off, but try not to hurt them." Ash said.
"Grauu!" Charizard Y roared as he unleashed a massive jet of fire down in between the 2 groups of Bulbasaur and the Venusaur.
The 2 groups moved away from each other before running off in different directions as Charizard Y flew in at them.
"Well that's one way to stop them." Lucy said as she saw the forest was now ablaze.
"oh." Ash said as he and Charizard Y sweat dropped.
Lucy let out her Milotic and had her use Hydro pump to extinguish the flames.
After the flames were gone, Ivysaur got up and had a sad expression.
"Ivysaur why were they fighting?" Ash asked.
"Saur, Ivysaur." He said to Ash.
Ash could understand what he was saying through their aura connection.
"Alright so apparently this forest is very important to the Bulbasaur. According to what Ivysaur heard , there is some grove in the center of the forest where all the energy the Bulbasaur emit to feed the forest accumulates. During the full moon, the energy comes out and it helps the Bulbasaur evolve." Ash said.
"But why are they fighting each other?" Serena asked.
"So apparently there's to herds of them. The red's and the blues, they both believe there's not enough energy in the grove for both of the herds and thus they're fighting to drive each other from the forest. Every time they fight they get closer to the grove, and Ivysaur is afraid that the grove might get hurt from them battling."
"So that's why Ivysaur wanted to stop them so badly. That's horrible." Serena said.
"Saur." Ivysaur said nodding as he looked around at the damage to the forest caused by the two groups fights.
"Well maybe we should find this grove and protect it. If it's that important to the ecosystem." Lucy said.
"It certainly would be good for the forest if it was harmed." Brock said.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted.
"Uh Charizard, you should probably sit this one out." Ash said as Charizard sweat dropped and nodded before returning to his pokeball.
"Wait, I have a question? How do we find this grove?" Brock asked.
"I think Ivysaur can find it." Ash said as Ivysaur nodded.
Ivysaur focused his senses and felt the energy emitted by the moon flowers and began following his senses.
He lead the group through the forest for twenty minutes before the reached a large grove.
The grove was mostly grassy with some patches of moon flowers and a large tree in the center. The tree had many different colored leaves.
Ash and Lucy could both feel a large amount of energy coming from the tree.
"Saur." Ivysaur said as he too felt the energy coming from the tree.
"So when the full moons come out, this place helps Bulbasaur evolve?" Serena asked.
"According to Ivysaur." Ash said.
"Saur." Ivysaur said.
"So what's the plan to defend this place?" Brock asked.
"Well I'm guessing those two groups of Bulbasaur will be here eventually. The full moon will be happening soon, I'm guessing those two groups will be here before then." Lucy said.
"Well I don't think just knocking them out will solve the problem." Serena said.
"No, we need to convince them to stop the didn't seem fond of outsiders when Lucy and I tried to connect to their aura. I think the only one they'd be willing to listen to is Ivysaur, and even that will be tricky. " Ash said.
"Well maybe if he earns their respect, they'd listen to him. Pokemon tend to listen more to those they respect." Lucy said.
"Well maybe if he could beat one of their leaders he could gain their respect." Brock said.
"Maybe, but it won't be easy." Ash said before he knelt down in front of Ivysaur and gave him something and said something to him via aura message before getting up.
"Now we wait." Lucy said.
As the Moon light got brighter, the two groups of Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur came out from the forest and faced each other in the center of the grove.
"Saur!" The two groups roared at each other.
The two Venusaur stepped forward staring at each other growling.
"Saur!" They roared before Ivysaur ran out.
"Saur!" He shouted trying to gain their attention.
The two groups ignored him completely as he gave a frustrated look.
"This isn't working, we have to do something." Lucy said. The group had hidden themselves behind the tree.
"Give him some more time." Ash said.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted as loud as he could while also unleashing several razor leaves in between the two groups.
The leaves hit the two Veunsaur and finally caught their attention.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted at them, demanding they stop their fighting. Saying they engaged the grove itself by doing so.
"Saur!" The two Venusaur roared back , each declaring their young Bulbasaur's would be the ones to evolve.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted declaring he was an aura guardian and that he would not let them harm the sacred area by fighting each other.
"Saur?" The two Venusaur said in confusion, not knowing what an aura guardian was. They both thought Ivysaur was a little crazy and looked at each other.
"Saur." They said before both turning to him and unleashing vine whip.
"Look out!" Serena shouted.
"Dodge it!" Ash shouted.
Ivysaur leapt around and away from each of the many vines.
"Vine whip!" Ash shouted.
Ivysaur launched his vines through the two Venusaur's vines and around their heads before pulling them together and knocking them into each other.
"Seviper go!" Lucy started before Ash stopped her.
"No, if Ivysaur doesn't do this on his own they won't listen to him."
The two Venysayr got up and pulled themselves free before unleashing an ocean of razor leaves.
"Vine whip on the leaves into Double edge." Ash said.
"Saur!" Ivysaur said as he used his 4 vines to knock away each of the incoming leaves before reaching the red patched one and smashed into his head with double edge. As a result the Veunsaur's head was knocked into the other Venusaur's head.
The two growled before both charging at Ivysaur with double edge.
"Under them and use leech seed!" Ash shouted.
Ivysaur moved low and went under the Venusaurs' legs before shooting 2 leech seeds onto their undersides.
The two Venusaur were wrapped in sprouts as their energy was sapped.
"Now use Double edge!" Ash shouted.
"Saur!" Ivysaur shouted as he leapt up and into the blue Venusaur's side, knocking him into the other Veunsaur.
"He's doing good." Serena said.
The two Venusaur burst out of the sprouts and both unleashed a sea of vines , entangling Venusaur and holding Ivysaur in place.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.
"Ivysaur use razor leaf to break free!" Ash shouted.
Ivysaur tried to do so, but was too late. The two Venusaur hurled him back before charing forward and both smashing him with Double edge.
"Ivysaur!" Ash shouted as Ivysaur was hurled back and smashed into the tree.
The two Venusaur turned back to each other as they and their herds turned back to each other and growled as they prepared to fight.
"We have to stop them now!" Brock shouted.
"Wait" Ash said as he felt something in Ivysaur as he got up.
Ivysaur looked over at the two groups, desperate to stop them. He knew it was his duty to do so, but he wasn't strong enough.
Moments later he felt the energy from the forest gather in front of the tree and fill his senses.
"Saur." He said as his sprout glowed green and then his body glowed white.
"Wait, is he." Brock started before Ivysaur finished evolving.
"Saur!" He roared.
"Ivysaur evolved." Serena said.
"Given the battle and the grove, it doesn't surprise me." Lucy said.
The other two Venusaur turned to him.
"Now to even the odds." Ash said smiling as he touched his mega evolution stone.
The group noticed a small light appear on his lower neck before a colorful sphere formed around him.
When it vanished he flower on his back grew larger and two new pink flowers bloomed, one on his forehead and one on his rear. Additional leaves with woody stems were grown around the flower that were supported by vines that grew from the base of the flower. Mega Venusaur also had darker patches of color on his forehead below the new bloom. His legs and frame also became more sturdy to support the weight of the flower.
"Saur!" He roared in a much loader voice.
"Amazing a Mega venusaur." Brock said.
"Ash must have had a Venusaurite and given it to him when he knelt down." Lucy said.
The two herds now looked slightly frightened.
"Saur!" Mega Venusaur roared.
The other two Venusaur growled before unleashing vine whip at him.
"Vine whip!" Ash shouted. Mega Venusaur unleashed even more vines than the two combined and easily overpowered them.
The two Venusaur were pinned to the ground by the Mega Vine whip.
"Now for the move we've been working on, hopefully being in Mega form will help you do this. Frenzy plant!" Ash shouted.
"Frenzy plant!?" Brock and Lucy said in disbelief.
"Saur!" Mega Venusaur roared as he glowed green and the ground shook as several massive spikes roots shot out of the ground and smashed the two Venasaurs several times before entangling them and smashing them into the ground.
Neither was able to get up, and once their herds saw this they were ready to run.
Mega Venusaur saw this and knew if they ran they would just keep fighting as soon as he left. He looked up and saw the full moon was just about out.
"Saur!" he roared as he unleashed another vine whip and Frenzy plant. The vines and spikes roots entangled all the Bulbasaur and Ivysaur.
"What's he doing?" Serena asked.
As the moonlight shined on the grove the flowers lit up and all the Bulbasaur's buds began to glow green before they all glowed white.
"Wait , they're all evolving." Serena said.
Ash and Pikachu realized what Venusaur was doing.
The two Venusaur and the Ivysaurs' eyes widened as they saw all their Bulbasaur evolve into Ivysaur.
"Saur." they said in disbelief.
"Saur!" Mega Venusaur roared telling them they were wrong , and that they could all use the grove to evolve and life together in harmony.
The two Venusaur looked at all their newly evolved herd members and then to each other and nodded.
Mega Venusaur let them go as the two herds began to mingle and act friendly with each other.
The two Venusaur walked over to to Mega Venusaur.
"Saur." They said thanking him.
"Saur." Mega Venusaur said telling them to live in peace and to keep the forest safe.
Ash and the others walked over to Mega Venusaur.
"Great job Venusaur, you stopped them." Brock said.
"I'm really proud of you Venusaur. You stopped a war and were able to use Frenzy plant." Ash said.
"Saur." Venusaur said.
Delia and Alexa walked down the streets of Neon city as the lights from the many casinos and hotels lit the streets.
"So now that we've finished up here , are you going back to Kalos?" Delia asked.
"Probably, the press will want the story published as soon as possible. What about you, when will you be coming back?" Alexa asked.
"Well Alexa to be honest Felix and I have been talking. Red and Korrina live here now, and Ash and Serena might if he makes the elite 4. I may move back here to Kanto and get my old job back at the Viridian press." Delia said.
"Well I'd be disappointed if you left Kalos, but it it means staying with your family it's the right decision." Alexa said.
Moments later they saw a man wearing a black trench coat, shades, and hat step out from an alleyway and block them.
"Excuse us." Delia said as they tried to move past the man. However, he continued to block them.
"What do you think you're doing?" Alexa said.
Moments later Delia saw a woman wearing a tan trench coat , hat, and shades walk out with what looked like a Meowth wearing the same.
"What's going on here?" Delia asked.
"Delia Ketchum, I'm afraid you're coming with us." The woman said.
"Giovanni has been waiting too long to see you again." The Meowth said.
Just hearing that name sent a shiver down Delia's spine. Alexa turned and saw the look of terror on her close friends face.
"Delia, what's wrong?".
"He's finally come for me." Delia said.

Yeah , I know it was a shorter chapter but a few big things happened, we saw Ivysaur evolve then Mega evolve, and Delia has been kidnapped.
So all that being said I have made a decision on the next story. I have decided to put the Mystery dungeon story on hold and instead focus on this story arc but in a different way.
The polls clearly show you guys want Ash's son to go to Hoenn, but I have decided to make not one , but two stories , one about Ash's son, and one about Red's.
So since you guys wanted Ash's son to go to Hoenn, I thought Red's could go to Jhoto. The question is which do you want to see first,
So I've made a new poll asking which story you want to see first.
