Well here we are, getting a little closer to the end. I know I said once before that this story would be a little long but it's taken a lot to write the last few chapters, and a lot more time than I'm comfortable taking. I've still got a couple of other stories to work on and this one has been my baby so to speak. Don't worry though we're still several steps away from the end but this chapter is the turning point. Anyway, I started this on 2/21/15.
I do not own Harry Potter although it'd be awesome if I did!
Chapter 14
Arthur and Molly Weasley sat in the sitting room of 12 Grimmauld Place, Molly with her head in her hands and Arthur standing behind her, rubbing her shoulders. "Oh what are we going to do Arthur?!"
"There's only one thing we can do Molly: we have to stop them."
Molly looked up at her husband, surprise etched into her features. "You would go against Dumbledore?"
Arthur shrugged then nodded. "He isn't doing anything. He says to trust them but I won't, I can't. Not after everything they've done. Not after everyone they've murdered for the sake of keeping up appearances!"
Molly had never seen her husband so adamant about something. It gave her the courage to do the same. "I agree. We have to do something and fast."
Her husband nodded, thinking. "We'll do it tomorrow, you go after Ginevra, and I'll take out Harry."
Molly nodded and the two began to plan. But everyone knows that even the best laid plans crumble in the heat of the moment.
Several Hours Later….
"I must say Arthur Weasley, I'm a little impressed." They had been dueling for several minutes now, both men dodging and firing curses at a rapid rate. For Arthur, this was a much harder duel than to duel Ginny, they could insult Ginny's childhood and get to her, but they had virtually nothing on Harry. Except…
"You know I never really liked your parents, back when the Order was so full. They always acted as if they were better than everyone else. James Potter and his pureblood family, and Lily, the minx that seduced him."
Harry felt his temper rise. He had heard enough stories about his parents from credible sources to know that what the Weasley patriarch was telling him was false. He's trying to get a rise out of me by insulting my parents. Well it won't bloody work! "Really Weasley, is that the best you've got? Telling lies about my parents? Especially one so weak. Did you expect me to blow up? My self-control is a little better than that." He fired off three curses in rapid succession, trying to knock the man off balance. "And what about your wife? I just received word minutes ago that Ginny was fine. I wonder what happened to her. She's probably lying dead in the middle of Diagon Alley right now."
He could see Arthur clenching his jaw and his face turning an alarming shade of red. He had him. "Then I'll have your blood as penance!" A feral grin came upon Harry's face as he pressed his advantage, putting Arthur off balance and one flick later, Arthur Weasley was on the ground and wandless.
Harry twirled the older man's wand between his fingers before snapping it. "You want blood Mr. Weasley? I'll give you blood." Harry began to chant in Parseltongue, evoking the Parsel magic that he had taught himself as a child. He started to speak in parseltongue, invoking his magic and mixing it into the words he spoke, Arthur Weasley began to seize and shake. Blood began to run out of Arthur's eyes, from under his nails, and from his skin. It ran from his mouth, covering him in his own blood. Harry flicked his wand and sent the man to Diagon Alley. "And blood you shall have," he whispered before apparating to his wife.
In Diagon Alley, people screamed as the blood covered Arthur Weasley appeared in the middle of the street, next to his dead wife and in front of the aurors taking care of the scene. With a final scream, Arthur Weasley exploded, showering the surrounding buildings and people with blood and what was left of him.
Back at Lestrange Manor, Harry burst through the doors, causing the house elves to scatter at his presence. They knew better than to get in his way. He could feel his wife through their bond and, following that signal, he found her in her old room looking out the window. She turned to face him and he saw the tear tracks running down her face. Silently cursing her former parents, Harry sat down next to her and took her into his arms. "It's alright Love, it over now."
Ginny shook her head and whispered. "No, it's not over. We still have work to do. It'll never really be over." Harry frowned. "Not as long as we live like this. We'll always have someone after us for whatever reason. I don't want to run for the rest of our lives. All I want is a life of peace. Just you and I with our children if we decide to have any. I don't want to fight for the rest of our lives Harry."
Harry nodded. "I understand Gin. Once we take care of Voldemort, we'll take off. I don't really have much of a connection here, other than what few friends we have."
Ginny chuckled. "Mum will turn on us the second we kill him. I can tell by the look in her eyes whenever she's with him. As much as I hate to, she'll have to die as well. Lucius will be relieved. Once we've taken out Tom and dealt with the backlash, I say we leave. I've always wanted to travel the world."
Harry caressed her hair. "And so we shall Gin."
At Grimmauld Place, a very tired Albus Dumbledore strode into the kitchen to find an equally tired Sirius Black reading the Prophet. "I always knew that they'd go after them eventually Albus. They were like a pair of rabid dogs that needed to be put down."
Albus frowned at the Black heir's wording but nodded in agreement. "While I disagree that any life other than Tom's has to end, I agree that Arthur and Molly had, how do you say, gone off the deep end."
Sirius nodded. "Kreacher, if you will, grab some tea for Albus." Kreacher bowed respectfully before popping to the kitchen. "Their kids have been helpful though. Ron has already publically denounced their actions and the twins issued an apology on behalf of the family. I must say having Hermione married into the family helps with damage control. She's always been bloody brilliant like her mother."
"Language Sirius." Amelia strode into the room. "And I've told you time and again, that my brilliance is infectious, I'm not sure why you haven't caught it yet."
Sirius grinned, erasing the lines of worry on his face. To Albus, it looked absolutely right to see the couple smiling. Ah love, such a wondrous thing.
A thought that had been nagging at him for some time surfaced again. If this is to end, I may not be able to survive. He had no clue as to the plans of the Potters. He knew that they were planning on killing Nagini, which would put Tom on the edge. After his death, he had no idea what they planned on doing. He didn't think that they would take up the mantle. Harry didn't strike him as the type of person to want to lead anyone let alone an army of deatheaters. But they may need a way to keep in Tom's good graces until they were able to finish it, which might mean that he'll have to die. Albus couldn't help but smile. He had never expected to survive the first war, let alone the second. In his mind, it was no less than he deserved for letting Gindelwald get as strong as he did and for allowing Tom to rise to power. World War 2 might not have happened had he realized what the man really was from the get go. But alas, love could be so blind. And he had known what Tom was by the time he left school but had done nothing. Perhaps it is time to meet with them once more. Possibly for the last time. His plan was in motion, he just had to make sure that the right people knew not to blame the Potters afterward. So he bid his goodnight to the happy couple and went into his room and began to pen a few letters. I may nnot live to see the end, but I'll make sure that they do. It's the least they deserve after all they've been through.
Back at Potter Manor, Harry was sitting in the bed next to his sleeping wife. She had fallen asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. Not that he could blame her. The day had been a long one. Ginny had finally beaten the ghosts of Arthur and Molly Weasley and laid the memories of her birth parents to rest. They were gone, never to haunt her again and for that Harry was glad. He glanced at the shelf where his invisibility cloak lay folded with the resurrection stone sitting neatly on top. He knew there was one more item to complete the trio and he knew who had it. There was only one person that could have it really. The problem was that he wasn't sure if he wanted to kill the old man to get it. He knew that if he dueled the old man and only disarmed him to get the wand, Voldemort would be angry. And Harry knew that they needed to stay in his good graces just a bit longer. He also knew that if he were to duel his master with his current wand, the fact that the wands were brothers would cause them to react in a way that Harry wouldn't be able to kill him without problems. The elder wand really was the best option for ending it. But he wasn't sure if it was worth it. He had a feeling that Dumbledore knew all of this, and planned for it. He just needed to speak with the old man to know for sure. He sighed as he settled down into bed, caressing his wife's bottom once more before falling to sleep, dreaming of schemes and plots and murders and screams. Not the most restful of sleeps, but not bad for Harry either.
The next morning, Harry had just stepped out the shower after waking up to his nearly insatiable wife, when an owl came through the bedroom window, letter tied on. Harry detached the letter and read it, causing him to frown. He felt two arms wrap around him from behind and a sultry voice in his ear. "What is it Harry?"
"The old man wants to meet." Ginny froze and Harry answered the unasked question. "Today at 3 in the forests outside our home." Ginny frowned.
"Of course he knows where it is. I wonder what he wants."
"I may have an idea but I can't be for sure."
"Do you think he's betraying us?"
Harry chuckled. "That's not his style Gin that much I know for sure. I'm sure we'll need our wands though."
Ginny raised an eyebrow. "Don't we always Love?" Harry turned and kissed her before getting ready for what he was sure to be an exciting day.
Back at 12 Grimmauld place, Dumbledore placed letters in the hands of the people he wanted to know his plan. "Wait until 4 tonight before reading these. It is paramount that you do this."
Minerva McGonagal looked at her friend confused. "But Albus, why all the secrecy?"
Albus smiled. "Ah my dear Minerva, you will know once you've read the letter."
He looked at them all one last time, before turning to go. "Oh and one last thing, know that it has been an honor and a pleasure to have known you all as the best of friends."
Sirius sucked in a breath as the realization hit him. Albus looked at him and Sirius nodded. "We'll see you tonight then?"
Albus smiled knowingly at him. "I hope so Sirius." With one final wave, he walked out the door and disapparated to his first of several destinations before going to what he hoped would be his end. Goodbye, my friends.
At 3 on the dot, the Potters stood in a clearing not far from their ward line when a pop was heard and Albus Dumbledore stood before them smiling at them. "Ah Harry, Ginny, how good it is to see you."
The Potters nodded before Ginny spoke up. "What's this about old man?" Harry just looked sadly at Albus.
"I think I know Albus." He whispered.
Ginny's head snapped to look at her husband before looking at Dumbledore again, realization slowly dawning on her. "You can't!'
Albus shook his head, still smiling. "I must. If I don't, then he will eventually figure it out. You two are his best, why wouldn't I come after you and why wouldn't you kill me. It wouldn't make sense and besides, I've lived far too long. It's time to pass from one great adventure to the next. And this will also serve to unite the hallows in your most capable hands. Once you are done, I trust that you'll know what to do with them. Don't worry, I won't go quietly, my pride simply won't allow it. But I trust that you two are more than capable of beating me. As powerful as I am, you two are much more powerful. Besides, I am far past my prime contrary to what Tom believes." Albus smiled, looking every bit his age.
Ginny shook her head, a smile on her face. "You never gave up on us did you?"
"Never. Even after you killed the Dursleys I knew that you weren't as evil as the façade you put up. It must have been torture killing off the last of your family."
Harry shrugged. "I can't say that it was. From what I've read out of my mother's journal, she had come to hate Petunia and her family. They despised each other in the end."
Albus shrugged. "Ah well, it was a thought I suppose. When I met them, I offered protection but they adamantly refused. I'm sure they are regretting that now, wherever they are."
Harry nodded. "I hope we can live up to your expectations." Ginny nodded her agreement as they took their wands out.
Albus grinned. "You will surpass them I'm sure. Now then, let us begin!"
Good God it's been forever hasn't it? I hope you guys don't hate me! Life just got in the way. I'm almost done with school if I can pass college algebra so that has taken up the lion share of my time along with work and other fun things. But I finally did it! I hate to leave you guys at another cliffhanger but again, I'm not sure how I want this to go! I had originally planned on typing a parseltongue spell during his duel with Arthur but everything I came up with was stupid so I just went with what I went with. I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! Until next time whenever that may be! Please leave a review or PM me if you have any sort of comment, questions, concerns, criticisms, or praises! Much appreciated!
