Thursday 11th September:
Lyssa Carrington's POV:
Lyssa's life had fallen apart in less than twenty-four hours. Word about Lyssa and Jonas had spread like wild-fire, and now the whole school knew. Her golden reputation had been tarnished and no-one had gone to her for her matchmaking expertise in hours. Usually, she'd have students, and sometimes teachers, knocking down her door looking for a set-up.
As Lyssa walked down the hall, she clutched her binder close to her chest and avoided eye contact with anyone. She could feel people staring at her and giving her looks. She could hear people whisper hurriedly as she trudged past them. When she arrived at her locker, she was surprised to see Santana Lopez standing beside Lyssa's locker, waiting for her.
"Ehm, hi." Lyssa said as she approached.
Santana looked at her with an expression Lyssa couldn't make out. Pity? Shame? Amusement?
"I just came to see if you're okay." Santana said.
Lyssa was taken aback. She'd heard horrible stories about what Santana was like in High School, and she was expecting one of her legendary slushie treatments.
"Oh," Lyssa muttered, looking down at the floor, 'I'm fine. Thanks.'
"Tayla's a bitch." Santana said.
Lyssa laughed, 'Don't I know it.'
Santana stepped out of her way and Lyssa opened her locker. She took her History books out and gently closed it.
"You know, she deserves a taste of her own medicine." Santana said, her eyes lighting up.
"I dunno," Lyssa said, 'Revenge isn't really my thing.'
Santana shrugged, 'Do you think she deserves to get away with it?'
Lyssa looked up at Santana and shook her head. Santana grinned.
"Good. I know where to start." Santana informed her.
"Why are you helping me?" Lyssa asked curiously, 'You don't even know me. I helped a guy cheat on his girlfriend, who just so happens to be the sweetest girl in this school.'
Santana shrugged, 'There's something I don't like about Tayla.'
Lyssa laughed, 'There's something we all don't like about Tayla.'
Santana laughed, 'Okay. Let's get moving.'
"Where are we going?" Lyssa asked as Santana guided her down the halls.
Lyssa couldn't help but notice how the sea of students parted for Santana as she walked by.
"Sylvester's office. I'm going to convince her to let you be on the Cheerios." Santana told her.
Lyssa stopped, 'Why?'
"So that you can get close to Tayla." Santana said, continuing to walk.
"Wait!" Lyssa called, 'I can convince Principal Sylvester to let me on the team.'
"How?" Santana asked.
"It doesn't matter," Lyssa said, waving her hand, 'I'll see you at Glee practice.'
Santana looked skeptical, but she nodded and Lyssa continued towards the Prinicpal's office.
Upon arriving, Lyssa stepped into the reception and nodded at Becky.
"Hey, slut." Becky greeted, not bothering to look up from her computer screen.
Lyssa rolled her eyes and knocked on Principal Sylvester's office door.
"Come in." Lyssa heard.
Lyssa stepped inside and Sue stood up.
"Ah, my little sabotager," Sue greeted Lyssa, 'What can I do for you?'
"I want to be on the Cheerios," Lyssa said, 'As a reward.'
"A reward for what?" Sue laughed.
"Well, I got Eloise Summers to quit Glee Club." Lyssa announced with fake pride.
Sue guffawed, 'Yeah, after you slept with her boyfriend.'
Lyssa burned red and Sue cackled.
"Alright, alright. You can be on the team." Sue said after a while.
"Thank you," Lyssa thanked, 'Uniform please.'
Sue narrowed her eyes at Lyssa and opened a cabinet. She looked around for a while before shoving a box into Lyssa's arms.
"Thank you." Lyssa said.
Lyssa turned on her heel and left the office. She made her way to the bathroom and got changed. She replaced her pink flats with the white sports-shoes provided and shoved her own clothes into the box. Lyssa admired herself in the mirror and smiled.
She didn't realise how powerful this could make someone feel. Lyssa grabbed the box and stepped out into the halls. She earned a few uneasy glances as she sauntered towards her locker. She shoved the box into her locker and made her way to History class.
When she arrived in the classroom, all eyes were drawn to her. She sat at the back of the class and grinned to herself as Abby and Lindsay plopped themselves down in front of her.
Abby turned around and handed Lyssa a hair-tie, 'Here, tie your hair into a high-pony. It's a rule.'
"Thanks." Lyssa said uncertainly.
Abby and Lindsay smiled at her as she tied her hair up.
"Hey, sit with us during lunch?" Lindsay suggested.
"Sure." Lyssa nodded.
"Alright, see you then, Lyssa." Lindsay said, before herself and Abby turned around.
Lyssa grinned to herself. She could get used to this.
Aaron Oliver Kim's POV:
"Hey!"
Aaron spun around to see Avalon walking towards him. Aaron smiled at her and slowed down so that she could catch up to him.
"You were really good yesterday." Avalon complimented.
Aaron blushed, 'You too.'
Avalon smiled and they continued walking in a comfortable silence.
"Shit..." Aaron cursed under his breath.
"What?" Avalon asked.
"I forgot to drop a letter off at Ms. Pillsbury's office," Aaron said, turning around, 'I'll catch up with you later.'
"No. Wait!" Avalon screamed after him, 'I'll-I'll come with you.'
"You don't have to." Aaron replied, grinning.
Avalon walked up to him, 'I want to.'
Aaron nodded and they began walking towards the guidance counsellor's office. When they arrived, Ms. Pillsbury was nowhere to be seen.
"I'll have to wait. I have to hand it to her personally," Aaron said, 'You can go if you want.'
"No, I'll wait," Avalon replied, 'What do you need to give to her?'
Aaron pursed his lips and Avalon panicked.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to pry." Avalon cried.
Aaron sighed, 'No, it's fine.'
Aaron looked down at the letter with dismay, 'It's just a letter from my parents.'
Aaron continued when he noticed the confused look on Avalon's face, 'Ms. Pillsbury and Mr. Schuester caught me smoking outside the school last week. I was almost going to get suspended, but my father provides funding for the Science Department here, so he sent me this to give to them.'
"Couldn't he have come in himself?" Avalon asked, watching her wording.
"My parents live in South Korea," Aaron told her, 'I live here with my uncle.'
"Oh.." Avalon trailed off.
The pair were left in an awkward silence and Avalon put her hand on Aaron's shoulder.
"I know how you feel," Avalon began.
Aaron looked at her and she continued, 'To feel distant from your parents I mean. My dad only ever talks to me when I accomplish something. Hell, I didn't even know he was getting married until she turned up on our doorstep with her devil-spawned son.'
Aaron laughed and Avalon scowled at him, 'What?'
"Nothing, I've just noticed that when you get angry, your nose twitches and it's kinda cute." Aaron said.
Avalon's cheeks turned red and she smiled down at the floor.
"I've never talked about my dad with anyone.." Avalon said after a while, 'Thanks for listening.'
Aaron smiled at her, 'No problem.'
"Aaron!"
Aaron and Avalon turned around to see Ms. Pillsbury walking towards them.
"My father told me to give this to you." Aaron informed her, holding out the letter.
Ms. Pillsbury took the letter from him and smiled at them, 'Thank you. Now, off to class!'
Avalon nodded politely at Ms. Pillsbury and began walking down the hall.
"Thanks for waiting." Aaron said.
"Not a problem," Avalon replied, 'Hey, you're in my Spanish class, aren't you?'
"Yeah, why?" Aaron asked.
"Well, Mr. Schuester's gone for the day, so we have a free period now," Avalon said, biting her lip and looking down at the floor, 'Do you wanna go get ice-cream or something?'
"No." Aaron replied.
Avalon's face fell, 'Oh, okay.'
"I'm joking." Aaron laughed.
Avalon's face lit up and she punched his arm, 'Ugh, you're so mean!'
"You should've seen the look on your face!" Aaron laughed.
"For that, you're paying for ice-cream." Avalon teased, pushing Aaron.
"Yeah, yeah." Aaron sighed.
Austen Fischer's POV:
"Austen! Wait!" Blake called after him, 'Please listen to me.'
Austen spun around, 'What?!'
"I'm sorry?" Blake tried.
Austen groaned and turned around.
"Wait! I need to show you something." Blake said.
"What?" Austen asked, intrigued.
"Just follow me to the auditorium." Blake said.
Austen stood still for a moment before finally following Blake to the auditorium, just out of curiosity. When they arrived, the auditorium was empty and Austen scowled at Blake.
"There's nothing here." Austen spat.
"Just sit down in the front row." Blake said.
Austen sighed, 'Fine. You have five minutes.'
"Okay," Blake ran up on to the stage and Austen sat down in the front row.
"I am really sorry," Blake started, 'And I know how much you like this singing thing, so...'
A piano began playing the introduction to a song Austen knew, but couldn't remember the name of. Austen sat back in his seat and crossed his arms as Blake began singing.
(Blake Singing)
Come on skinny love just last the year,
Pour a little salt we were never here,
My my my, my my my, my-my my-my...
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer.
Tell my love to wreck it all,
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall,
My my my, my my my, my-my my-my...
Right in the moment this order's tall.
And I told you to be patient,
And I told you to be fine,
And I told you to be balanced,
And I told you to be kind,
And in the morning I'll be with you,
But it will be a different kind,
'Cause I'll be holding all the tickets,
And you'll be owning all the fines.
Come on skinny love, what happened here?
Suckle on the hope in light brassieres,
My my my, my my my, my-my my-my...
Sullen load is full, so slow on the split.
Blake walked down the steps to the stage and kneeled down in front of Austen.
And I told you to be patient,
And I told you to be fine,
And I told you to be balanced,
And I told you to be kind,
And now all your love is wasted,
Then who the hell was I?
'Cause now I'm breaking at the britches,
And at the end of all your lines.
Who will love you?
Who will fight?
And who will fall far behind?
Come on skinny love,
My my my, my my my, my-my my-my...
My my my, my my my, my-my my-my.
Austen's eyes began watering and Blake smiled at him.
"You just have to be so damn charming, don't you?" Austen asked.
Blake laughed, 'So? Am I forgiven?'
Austen thought for a moment before sighing, 'Yeah I guess.'
Blake fist-pumped the air and Austen laughed.
"But we're just friends." Austen said.
"Okay." Blake pouted.
Austen grinned and looked at Blake.
"So, does that mean you want to go get coffee after school with me?" Blake asked hopefully.
"Only if you can last the day without humping someone." Austen said jokingly.
"Ouch," Blake said, putting a hand to his heart, 'But fine.'
"I have Glee Club until five in the choir room, I'll meet you there." Austen said.
Blake grinned, 'Alright then.'
Austen stood up and started for the exit.
"See you later." Austen added before leaving the auditorium.
*Later, at Glee Club*
Valery Crane's POV:
Santana Lopez and Blaine Anderson walked to the centre of the choir room and everyone calmed down.
"Mr. Schuester's out for the day and he asked us to handle Glee Club," Blaine informed the class, 'He told us to let you practice your duets among yourselves.'
Everyone turned to their partners and Valery stood up and walked over to Santana. Santana looked up at Valery and frowned.
"What?" Santana asked.
"We're duet partners," Valery reminded her for the fourth time, 'And we haven't even picked a song yet.'
"Fine," Santana sighed, 'What song do you want to do?'
Valery thought for a minute before shrugging, 'I dunno, you pick.'
"How about Can't Remember To Forget You?" Santana suggested.
"Yeah, sure." Valery said.
"Great. Now get out of my face and learn the song." Santana said harshly.
"What's your problem?" Valery asked.
Santana growled, 'None of your damn business.'
"Okay then..." Valery trailed off.
Santana sighed, 'Sorry. I'm trying to not be such a bitch.'
"How's that working out for you?" Valery joked.
Santana grinned, 'Sit down. We can practice our duet. I'll get the sheet music up on my phone.'
Valery sat down in front of Santana and they spent the entirety of Glee Club singing, joking and talking.
Avalon Brickstone's POV:
Avalon felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She turned away from Aaron and came face-to-face with Tayla. The pair hadn't spoken since the kiss.
"Can I talk to you?" Tayla asked, her eyes void of any emotion.
"Sure." Avalon replied reluctantly.
Avalon and Tayla got up and walked to the door.
"Hey, where are you two going?" Blaine asked.
"To the bathroom." Tayla lied.
Blaine nodded and the two of them stepped outside. They stood there awkwardly for a few moments before Tayla spoke up.
"Look, I'm sorry about yesterday..." Tayla said.
Avalon looked at her, 'Why did you kiss me?'
"I- uhm, it was a joke." Tayla lied.
Avalon narrowed her eyes at her best friend. She knew her well enough to know when she was lying.
Tayla sighed, 'Okay, sorry. I don't know. I've been having weird feelings lately... towards you.'
Avalon's eyes widened, 'Oh.'
"You hate me now, don't you?" Tayla breathed.
"No! No... It's just a lot to take in," Avalon muttered, 'So are you... gay?'
"I don't know... I'm still attracted to guys, the only girl I've ever had... those weird feelings for is you." Tayla admitted.
Avalon looked down at the floor before looking back up at her best friend, 'Well let's not let that affect our friendship.'
Tayla smiled, 'Okay.'
"But there's just one more thing..." Avalon said, 'Why did you do that to Eloise yesterday?'
Tayla sighed and looked down at the floor, 'No-one deserves to be lied to...'
Avalon smiled at her friend, 'I think you owe Lyssa an apology, as well as Eloise... and Jonas.'
"You know I'm not good with apologies..." Tayla said.
"You don't have to apologise to them directly, just show them that you're sorry for what you did." Avalon said.
Tayla smiled, 'You're the best.'
"I know." Avalon smiled before pulling her friend in for a hug.
"Now let's go back in." Avalon said.
"Wait, there's one thing I need to ask you." Tayla said, grabbing Avalon's shoulder.
Avalon turned around and nodded for her to go on.
"What's going on between you and Aaron?" Tayla winked.
Avalon blushed, 'To be honest, I don't know.'
Blake Phillip's POV:
Blake arrived outside the choir room five minutes early. He stood beside the door and took out his phone.
"What are you doing here?"
Blake looked up to see Zachary standing in front of him.
"I'm here to take Austen to the Lima Bean," Blake replied smugly, 'What are you doing here?'
Zachary narrowed his eyes at Blake, 'I'm here to talk to Austen.'
Blake laughed, 'I don't think he wants to talk to you right now.'
Just then, the choir room door opened and the Glee Club members began filing out. Blake spotted Austen and smiled.
"Hey Blake." Austen said, 'Ready to go?'
"Austen..." Zachary trailed off.
Austen turned around and raised an eyebrow at Zachary.
"I don't want to talk to you right now." Austen said bluntly before grabbing Blake's hand and hurrying down the hallway.
"You're holding my hand." Blake said, grinning.
"I'm aware that I'm holding your hand," Austen replied, 'Is that a problem?'
Blake shrugged, 'Nope.'
Austen and Blake arrived at Blake's car and they hopped in. They drove to the Lima Bean in a comfortable silence. Blake hopped out and opened the door for Austen.
"Oh, what a gentleman." Austen joked.
"I try." Blake replied.
The two of them walked into the Lima Bean and sat at the table closest to the window.
"What do you want?" Blake asked.
"An Americano please." Austen replied politely.
Blake nodded and walked to the cashier.
"Two Americanos please." Blake told the cashier.
After a few moments, the Americanos were ready and Blake paid the cashier. He smiled at her as he carried the coffees to Austen.
"Thanks."Austen said, taking the coffee from Blake.
Austen and Blake sat and talked for about an hour. Blake didn't realise how much they had in common.
"Wait? You like Harry Potter?" Austen asked, his mouth open in surprise.
Blake blushed, 'Yes.'
"Oh my god," Austen laughed, 'I never would have thought.'
Blake laughed, 'Yeah I know.'
"So you originally went to Dalton Academy?" Austen asked, trying to make conversation.
Blake nodded, 'I got kicked out.'
Austen laughed, 'I'm not surprised.'
"Hey!" Blake shouted defensively.
Austen giggled, 'What was it like?'
Blake swallowed the rest of his coffee, 'I can show you.'
"Will the school still be open?" Austen asked.
"It's a boarding school," Blake told him, 'Anyway, the Warblers always practice till late.'
"Okay," Austen said, standing up, 'Let's go.'
Austen Fischer's POV:
Austen and Blake arrived outside Dalton Academy in less than fifteen minutes. Austen was in awe at the beauty of the school. Blake parked outside and they both got out of the car.
"Are we just allowed to walk in?" Austen asked.
Blake shrugged, 'I dunno.'
Austen laughed and followed Blake inside. Austen's jaw dropped. The school was beautiful!
"I need to pee," Blake said, 'Look around. I'll meet you in the courtyard.'
"Okay," Austen called after him, 'Have fun! Don't fall in!'
Austen heard Blake laugh and he grinned. Austen walked around the main building of the school and admired all of the paintings on the wall. Before he knew it, he was lost. Austen panicked and frantically tried to find the courtyard.
Just then, a boy around Austen's height walked by and Austen tapped him on the shoulder. The boy turned around and Austen's knees went weak. He was gorgeous! He had short, chocolate-brown hair that was pushed to the left, brilliant blue eyes, plump lips and a largish nose. He had slightly-tanned skin and was averagely-built.
"Hi," The boy smiled warmly, 'Can I help you?'
"I...uhm...You..." Austen mumbled like an idiot.
The boy raised an eyebrow and Austen mentally slapped himself.
"Sorry, where's the courtyard?" Austen asked.
"I'm headed in that direction now, I can show you." The boy said.
Austen nodded and followed the boy to the courtyard. When they arrived, the boy waved his goodbye and started to walk away.
"Wait!" Austen called.
The boy turned around and Austen tried to think of something to say.
"I'm Austen." Austen said.
The boy smiled, 'Ryan.'
Austen smiled at Ryan and he turned and walked into one of the dorm buildings. Just then, Blake arrived at Austen's side.
"Who was that?" Blake asked.
Austen turned to him, 'Ryan.'
"Ryan what?" Blake asked warily.
"I dunno," Austen shrugged, 'That's as far as I got.'
"Okay," Blake grinned, 'He had a nice ass.'
Austen punched Blake's shoulder and Blake laughed.
"Come on, I'll show you around." Blake said.
