Pokémon: The Prism League Chapter 14: Dragon Busted
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon.
Ash's POV
I couldn't believe it, after months of hard training my wait for the Prism League was finally over. It was so surreal that I decided to skip the opening festival so I could think for a while and that's when none other than then Mr. Goodshow came to me and asked that that I lead the Trainers in the running of the flame but not before he gave me this strange gift. I'm not sure why he gave it to me or what it does but he said it was something that would come in handy when the time was right.
After the opening ceremony we finally got the rundown of how the Prism League would work. The next day we got things going with the first stage which was the preliminaries and they were defiantly not what I was expecting. Not just because this was the first time I had ever heard of triple battles for the preliminaries but also because instead of battling on a different terrain type fields in the stadiums we were teleported all over Hajime Island to the actual terrains.
My first battle took place on a water field or to be more accurate under it. I defiantly owed my first win to Misty for all that underwater training we did. Next I battled in a rocky valley and this time instead of my usual tactic of meeting power with power I use the terrain itself to give my Pokémon the upper hand. Then my final match was on a mountain range, this battle didn't start out in my favor but with the teamwork of Charizard, Bulbasaur and Wartortle, we managed to win it.
Now we've moved on to the second stage where the remaining Trainers have been divided into four different block A, B, C and D. Most of my friends and I are in the B block while a few of use were placed in the C and D blocks. I would say the A block is anyone's game but with Tobias being there it's almost a done deal who will win. To move on to stage three I have to win the B block by defeating my opponents in the red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet stadiums. After that I'll battle in the Prism Stadium for the winner's circle matches, then I'll find out what the stage four final challenge is. From here on out it's full battles and now we know who we'll face, my first opponent is Georgia who I'm battling in the orange stadium. I'm going to give it everything I've got in every battle because this time I'm not going to let anything stop me from winning. I will win the Prism League.
The next day I was up bright and early for my morning run, the perfect chance to clear my head before my battle. As usual Pikachu and Riolu were right at my sides keeping pace no problem but unlike most of our morning exercises, today we had a coach.
Normal POV
"Come on you three, keep it up, hup two three four, hup two three four!" Molly chanted from her seat atop Bayleef's back as she ran in front of Ash, Pikachu and Riolu.
"You know Molly when you asked to come running with me this isn't what I thought you meant." Ash laughed still maintaining his running rhythm.
"Come on Ash, what better way to get motivated than having me coach you through your morning exercises." Molly reasoned. "Now pick up those legs move those arms!"
"Yes ma'am!" Ash replied with salute and a smile.
"Pika Pika!" (Yes ma'am!)
As Ash continued his run his thoughts were focused on last nights prep for todays battle.
[Flashback]
"Ok Ash time to come up with your game plan." Brock informed the Pallet Town Trainer as he and the others entered the Trainer's Village date center where Trainers were able to look up information on their opponents.
"Right, so what should we do first?" Ash asked sitting down at an open computer with his friends gathering around him.
"I believe it would be a good idea to look up your own file first." Cilan suggested.
"Why my file?"
"Knowing what your opponent knows is an important part of battle so its best we find out what your opponents know about you." The connoisseur explained himself.
"He has a point Ash, we should look up what information about you the other competitors have excess to." Tracy agreed.
"Alright lets check it out." Taking his friend's advice Ash typed in his name which brought up his file displaying his picture, name, age, hometown, birthday and Trainer ID. "Nothing my pokedex couldn't tell people." Ash said looking at the page puzzled.
"There's more than one page genius." Misty said rolling her eyes.
"Oh right." Ash then clicked to the next page labeled roster which showed all of his Pokémon with their stats next to them.
"Wow, they've got everybody on your team." Molly said watching Ash scroll down seeing all of his Pokémon right down to his last addition Riolu.
"The Pokémon League really keeps up to date files." Max said impressed by the League's archives.
"Yeah you can even click on any of my Pokémon's files to see their battle history." Ash took note of another feature.
"Lets see the next page." Brock advised looking to page marked Trainer History.
Ash moved to the next page, this one displaying the many Gym Badges he had won over the years his placement in each league he had participated in as well as other competitions such as the Whirl Cup. "They've kept tabs on me for a while."
"More like since day one." May corrected.
"One more page to go." Ash said moving on to the final page marked Trainer stats. The page opened to a picture of Ash and description of his abilities. "What's this?"
"This is the League's breakdown of your skills." Gary informed the clueless Trainer.
"Trainer Ash Ketchum utilizes the tactic know as sweeping which involves using the many different types of a Trainer's team and speed and power attack to defeat an opponent as quickly as possible and also displays the unique ability to create unorthodox tactics and strategies that would succeed in an otherwise hopeless scenario in the middle of battle." Misty read the file aloud.
"That sounds like Ash alright." Stated Dawn.
"Yeah I'd say the Pokémon League has Ash down to a T." Zoey agreed.
"And now that we've checked out Ash's file, we can move on to Georgia's" Tracy reminded the others.
"Right." Ash typed in Georgia's name immediately bringing up her file then moved to her Trainer's abilities page.
Trainer Georgia also know as the Dragon Buster utilizes the strength and type advantages of her Pokémon to defeat her opponent and specializes in battling Dragon types. Brock read the file to the group.
"So basically she's the offensive type of battler." Dawn was the first to comment.
"Georgia has never been one to go on the defensive." Cilan stated.
"Yeah she didn't try any kind of defensive strategy in our battle." Zoey added.
"Speed isn't here strong point either." Said Ash.
"And she doesn't seem to use much strategy." Said May.
"Seem like all uses is power, like in her battle with Zoey she just tried to use Beartic's strength to control the match and nothing else." Misty said knowingly.
"Well taking all that into consideration, you should be able to beat her no problem Ash." Gary said encouragingly. "By the numbers you'll beat her and by what I've seen from you both battling you'll defiantly beat her."
"What are you talking about, Ash doesn't need to beat her he needs to crush her!" Iris roared.
"That's right, Ash no mercy against her, make it a clean sweep through her team." Bianca (Jhoto) demanded.
"Send in Latias, Latios, Gabite and Charizard show her what dragon types can do!" Iris said in Ash's face.
"Iris it's probably a bad idea to use his two legendary Pokémon in the first round of the second stage against a less than impressive opponent and Charizard isn't a dragon type." Max said raising an eyebrow at the in training Dragon Master.
"Max is right Iris, but I think Gabite could be a good choice." Ash replied.
"You already have a plan Ash?" Misty asked surprised.
"Not a full plan yet but I've got a few ideas, trust me, Georgia won't know what hit her."
[End Flashback]
Ash and his friends had stopped for a rest on the side of the road. "I think it's about time to head back." Ash said rising from his seat on a fallen log.
"Great, I can't wait much longer for you battle." Molly cheered unable to contain her excitement.
"You and me both." Ash said just as restless. "Pikachu, Riolu you guys ready?"
"Pika Pika." (Sure am.) Pikachu replied while Riolu's attention was focused on the surrounding forest.
"What's up Riolu?"
"I sense that we are being watched." Riolu told Ash in a serious tone.
"There's probably tones of Pokémon watching use from the woods." Ash pointed out.
"No Master, I sense that we are being watched by something with fierce anger." Riolu's warning was interrupted by the sound of something breaking through the canopy of the trees.
"What was that?" Ash asked growing cautious.
"Be on guard Master." Riolu advised as he scanned their surroundings.
"Ash what's going on?" Molly asked picking up on Ash and Riolu and even Pikachu's tenseness.
"I'm not sure." Ash answered truthfully.
The sound of wings flapping was picked up by the sensitive hearing of both Pokémon causing them to turn around to Ash and Molly and finally found the source of noise.
"Pika Pi!" (Look out!)
"Get down!"
Ash and Molly turned just in time to see a large brown vulture like bird coming straight at them. "Down!" Ash cried out hitting the dirt pulling Molly with him just as the vulture passed over them.
"What was that?" Molly asked as she and Ash looked up to see their attacker circling around.
"It's a Fearow!" Ash answered as he rose to his feet then helped Molly up. The Beak Pokémon had now circled and had set its sights on Ash and his friends.
"Chu PiPi Chu!" (It's coming back) Pikachu warned taking its attack stance on all fours next to Riolu who also stood ready for a battle.
"Hit it with Thunderbolt Pikachu!" Ash ordered as Fearow closed in. Pikachu fired of a bolt of electricity from its body and hit the bird but seemed to have no effect. "What!" Fearow closed in unhindered by Pikachu's attack and swooped over Ash and the others narrowly missing them before landing a short distance away then began flapping its wings furiously.
The wind created by Fearow's wings blew harshly against Ash and Molly knocking them both off their feet while Pikachu and Riolu braced themselves against the Whirlwind. Fearow ceased its flapping then an orb of wind and energy formed in it wing before hurling it at Ash. The ball hit the ground a few feet from the Kanto Trainer sending him flying back also catching Riolu in the shockwave sending him along with his Trainer. Pikachu looked in horror seeing his friends knocked back by their attacker but failed to notice Fearow rush forward about to strike with its beak glowing white and spinning like a drill.
"Pikachu!" Molly cried as she reached out pulling the little electric type into her arms just as Fearow's beak was about to hit which left the flying type to drive it's beak into the ground. Molly stepped back cautiously watching Fearow try to free itself, holding Pikachu close then quickly rushed to Ash's side.
Fearow tugged violently until it freed its beak from the dirt then gave an angry screech towards Ash as he and his Pokémon stood ready for a battle. "Fearow!" Called an unseen person's voice.
"Huh?" Ash and Molly watched surprised a boy about Ash's age with short messy dirty blonde hair with dark grey eyes dressed in a black short sleeved collared shirt a white undershirt, black pants and black tennis shoes rode up to Fearow on a Luxray.
"Hey Fearow I told you to go get yourself something to eat, not go chasing some little rat." The boy said casually but failed to gain Fearow's attention as it continued to glare at Ash and Pikachu.
"Hey, why'd Fearow just attacked us out of nowhere like that!" Ash said angrily, not taking kindly to be assaulted.
"How should I know, I guess Fearow felt like having that rat of yours for breakfast." The boy said with disdain for Ash while his Luxray stood at his side unmoving and Fearow continued to stare down Ash.
"What, we could have gotten seriously hurt!"
"That's not my problem, it yours." The boy said in a smug tone.
"My problem!"
"If you stand in the way of something stronger than you and get crushed its your weakness that got you hurt." The boy said laughing.
"What, how could you say something like that, who are you?" Ash asked astonished and angered.
"The name's Blake and I'm the guy who's gonna win the Prism League after I'm done wiping out all of the third rate losers like you." The newly identified Trainer said laughing darkly.
"What!" Ash was about to make a move when Fearow gave a loud screeching cry and tried to lung at Ash when a thunderbolt cut it off.
"Hold up there Fearow." Blake said as Luxray's body sparked threatening. Fearow continued to glare at Ash and Pikachu with intense anger.
"What is that Fearow's problem?" Ash asked rhetorically.
"Pika Pi Chuchu Pika Chu Pipi." (Ash this Fearow seems familiar.) Pikachu told his Trainer, looking the aggressive Pokémon over.
Ash began to take in the flying type at first assuming it was the same as any other Fearow when a distant memory began to take shape. "No way." Ash looked to the vulture's eyes that seemed to glow red and saw anger that could only come from a past encounter. "Where did you catch this Fearow?"
"Not that it's your business I caught Fearow just outside the Viridian forest." Blake answered which seemed to hit Ash like a ton of bricks.
"It's that same one." Ash said looking at the flying type in shock.
"Oh so you know Fearow, small world, guess that's why it felt like dropping in on you losers." The blond Trainer chucked. "Well I wasted enough of my time on you so I'm out of here." Blake reached for a pokeball on his belt and pointed it at Fearow before returning it to the sphere then turned to leave.
"Good riddance." Ash spat.
The blond boy stopped for a moment then turned back to Ash. "By the way, I hope you and I get to battle, I love the looks on Trainer's faces like you when they see I do to their Pokemon." Blake grinned before he and Luxray walked off.
"What a creep." Ash growled.
"which one, Fearow or its Trainer." Said Molly who had remained silent as she clung to Ash during their encounter with the new Trainer.
"Chu!" (Both!) Pikachu stated.
"He was more then that?" Riolu told Ash cautiously.
"What do you mean Riolu?"
"His aura was very dark, a very menacing air surrounds him, be on guard around him Master." Riolu advised.
"Right." Ash agreed.
"Pikapi Chu PiPi Pikachu." (Ash don't let him bug you.) Pikachu tried to reassure his Trainer.
"Don't worry buddy I won't let that jerk get to me, especially when we have a battle to focus on. Ash said giving his partner a pat on the head.
Molly gasped at the mention of battle. "Ash your battle, you need to head to the stadium soon, Ritchie and the others probably are on their way there now." The younger Trainer reminded Ash.
"Oh man your right, can you head back and tell my mom and everyone else I headed over to the stadium?" Ash asked flustered.
"Sure thing." Molly agreed.
"Thanks, here it'll be quicker to take Charizard." Ash took the dragon's pokeball from his belt and offered it to Molly.
"Your not using Charizard for you battle?" Molly asked surprised.
"No I got my team set up already."
"Ok then, come out Charizard!" Molly threw the pokeball up releasing the giant fire type who appeared with a confused look seeing his Trainer replaced with a far smaller one.
"Hey Charizard I need you to give Molly a lift back to the others." Ash informed his Pokémon who gave a growl that seemed to translate to when did I become a taxi service before lowering himself to the ground. "Ok Molly let everyone know I'm headed to the orange stadium." Ash said as he set molly on Charizard's back.
"You got it Ash, lets go Charizard." Molly tapped Charizard's sides with her feet signaling him to take off.
"Master is it wise to leave the young one in the care of Charizard?" Riolu asked once the dragon was in the air.
"Yeah why."
"I've noticed just as he like to showoff his battling skills, he also like to showoff his flying skills."
"Don't worry, Charizard knows not to go crazy when he has a passenger unless I tell him to." Ash said just as he caught sight of Charizard doing loops in the air followed by other aerial stunts. "Ok maybe not."
"As I said, a showoff."
"Anyway we better get going."
"Pika." (Right)
"Yes Master." Riolu agreed before he, Ash and Pikachu took off at full speed to meet up with their friends.
Ash's POV
I was in a full sprint as I headed for the stadiums hoping that my run in with that creep Price hadn't made me late but my mood brightened when I finally caught sight of my friends and fellow competitors. "Hey guys!"
"Ash there you are." Stephan was the first to see me coming.
"We were getting worried about you." Casey said clearly relieved to see I had made it.
"Yeah, thought you might have chickened out." Rafe greeted me with his usual taunting.
"Geez I'm not that late." I defended myself as best I could knowing I did cut it kind of close.
"What held you up anyways?" Asked Morrison.
I was about to tell them about what had happened but decided against it, me having to deal with that jerk was bad enough the last thing I wanted was bother my friends with having to worry about it to so I just gave them a simple answer. "I just kind of lost track of time I guess."
"Well it better not happen again!" Barry warned me forcefully.
"Hey if we stand around here talking were all gonna be late." Tyson reminded all of us.
"Right."
Once we all made it to the stadiums we split up all heading to our respective stadiums. Harrison and I were headed to orange stadium when I noticed I hadn't seen the self proclaimed Dragon Buster. "Hey did you see Georgia this morning?"
"Yeah she left just before the rest of us, she said the sooner she got there the sooner she'd get her next win." Harrison told me before the both of use broke out in a chuckle unable to keep a straight face.
"Well she's gonna be pretty disappointed."
"I don't think you'll need one but do you have a plan for your battle?" Harrison asked me.
"Yep, and if I did my homework right this match will be a breeze." I didn't want to sound to confident but I felt really good about the team I chose and the plan I had.
"I believe I would be the best judge of whether you did you research." A voice sound from right behind me. I turned around and to no surprise found Conway.
"Conway what are you doing here?"
"I was simply on my way over to the red stadium when I overheard you had a plan and thought I could offer my expertise on the subject." Conway explained to me.
"Well thanks but I think I'm ok." I waved him not feeling the need to run my strategy by someone else.
"Very well then, I wish you luck in your match then, I wouldn't want you to be eliminated until we can battle again."
"Gee thanks." I said half heartedly. "Good luck to you to."
"Oh I won't need luck, I have a foolproof plan for my opponent." Conway said sure of himself as always. "So I'll be looking forward to when you and I get to battle. he said as he turned to leave.
"Ok." I said as he left me feeling very confused as always.
"That guy is pretty weird." Harrison said finding Conway just as strange as everyone did.
After running into Conway we made it to the orange stadium just as todays matches were about to start. "Hello all you Pokémon fans out there and welcome to day two of the Prism League and the first round of stage two." A voice I recognized as Don George's announced to the crowd from his booth in the upper levels of the stadium. "I'm Don George and I'll be your announcer through all the action of Prism League and joining me today is one of Kanto's finest Gym Leaders, known for his electric types and electric personality LT. Surge."
"Hey there everybody, I better see some real battlin out there today!" Surge demanded of the competitors.
Surge commentating was a pretty hard thing to imagine when the only way he knew how to talk was to shout, yell and bellow but it would defiantly be interesting. The matches got underway quickly with several Trainers going before me including Harrison until finally Georgia and I were called up.
"Now for the next match we have the self-proclaimed Dragon Buster Georgia!" Don George announced as Georgia took her place on the field. "And her opponent the pride of Pallet Town, Ash!" Taking my queue I rushed on to the field ready to go as the crowds cheering only made more excited.
"Come on Ash make this a quick win and knock her out of the competition!" I heard one voice in particular order me then looked to the row my friends would sitting in and found Iris shouting at me to beat Georgia.
Up in the stands Iris continued her furious rant and demand Ash defeat her rival while those around her hung their heads in embarrassment. "Does she have to be so loud?" Max asked rhetorically.
"Lets just pretend we've never met her before." Brock suggested.
"Well at least she's giving Ash some encouragement." May said flatly.
"Misty why's Iris always so mad at that girl Georgia?" Mrs. Ketchum asked wondering why both girls appeared so hostel to one another.
"I don't know it's something about Iris liking dragon Pokémon and Georgia not liking them." Misty groaned as Iris continued to shout.
"I hope you brought a dragon type for battle otherwise beating you just won't feel as satisfying." Georgia told me as sure of herself as ever.
"You'll just have to wait and see." I told her not interested in pregame smack talk and more focused on getting to the battle.
"Now the field that the competitors will battle on will be decided." Don George announced drawing everyone's attention to the big screen. The main screen displayed several environments including a savanna, mountain range, desert, volcano and countless others before they were all pulled together and shuffled until only one picture of the stadium itself was displayed. "And there you have it this battle will be an in stadium battle.
I let out a breath of relief thankful that I could hold off on another teleportation trip. "Alright lets get this battle started!"
"It doesn't matter what kind of field we're on I'll win no matter what!" Georgia shot back as the referee took his place.
"Both Trainers present your Pokémon."
"Lets go Typhlosion!" I took my pokeball from my belt and threw it to the field releasing my fire type. Typhlosion appeared with a fierce growl as its collar of fire ignited.
"You think I wouldn't be prepared for a fire type, go Simipour!" Threw a pokeball and released a blue monkey with broad ears and tuffs of fur on its head that resembled dreadlocks. After the Pokémon were released Typhlosion and Simipour's images appeared in the pokeball spaces next to their respective Trainer's picture on the big screen.
Normal POV
"Interesting, it seems that Georgia was expecting Ash to have a fire type on hand to face her ice types and prepared Simipour for that obstacle." Cilan observed Georgia's choice of Pokémon.
"Yeah maybe Ash should switch his Pokémon." Dawn said with worry.
"Trainers ready, Begin!" On the big screen Ash's picture and Georgia's clashed with versus between them.
"Go Typhlosion use Flamethrower!" Ash ordered the first attack then Typhlosion let loose a stream of fire from its mouth.
"Simipour use Water Gun!" Simipour ducked past the flames then fired a stream of water from its mouth."
"Dodge it!" Typhlosion jumped back as Simipour unleashed its water gun. "Now Swift!" Typhlosion opened its mouth a fired a flurry of stars that cut through the stream of water to hit Simipour.
Georgia growled in frustration as Simipour took the hit before calling her next attack. "Hit them with Scald!" Simipour fired another stream of water but this time it emitted steam.
"Dodge, then Lava Plume!" Typhlosion once again quickly evaded incoming water attack then created an explosion creating a mix of smog and fire that was headed for Simipour.
"Stop it with Surf!" Georgia commanded. Simipour slammed its palm on to the field creating a giant wave to spring up smashing into the Lava Plume canceling it out. "I've beaten tougher fire types with my ice types, you really think your messily Typhlosion stands a chance against Simipour?" Georgia stated arrogantly.
"I don't think Typhlosion can win I know it will." Ash shot back confidently.
Georgia scowled in annoyance seeing Ash's confidence hold strong. "Well lets see what think after this, Simipour use Rain Dance!" Simipour formed a blue orb in-between its paws then threw it high above the field where it exploded causing a downpour on the field.
"This is bad." Misty said as rain began pouring down.
"Yeah this attacking is going to ruin my hair." Dawn whined.
"Not that, Rain Dance cuts down the power of fire type attacks." Misty explained while Typhlosion's flame collar began to fade until it was completely put out.
"And add to the fact that Simipour is a water type, most of Typhlosion's attacks will barely do a thing." Gary reminded everyone.
"This match is off to an intense start and things seem to be in Georgia's favor." Don George announced. "Your thoughts Lt?"
"It my look like she's got this battle in the bag but all Ash needs is his chance to take control." Lt Surge weighed in.
"Fire's not the only attack we have, Typhlosion use Aerial Ace!" Not deterred by Georgia weakening his moveset Ash called for his Pokémon to use a flying type move. Typhlosion dropped to all fours and rushed at simipour at speed that made it appear to be flying then became surrounded by white streaks as it slammed into Simipour.
"Simipour use Water Pulse!" Georgia demanded then Simipour formed a blue orb of water between its hands then smashed it into Typhlosion blasting it away. "Fallow it up with Water Gun!" After pushing Typhlosion back Simipour shot another stream of water from its mouth.
"Quick dodge it Typhlosion!" Ash told the downed fire type who then roes to its feet then leapt out off the path of the Water Gun. Now use Swift!" Typhlosion then retaliated with another blast of stars.
"Use Acrobatics!" Georgia order. Simipour charged at the incoming starts then jumped into the air above Typhlosion with a flip but as it was about to land on the fire type starter the Swift attack corrected its course and hit Simipour in midair. "What!"
no use trying to dodge a Swift attack." Ash told the shocked Georgia who immediately called for another attack.
"Lets see you dodge this, Simipour hit them with Surf!" Simipour slammed its palm on to the field creating a giant wave to spring up that was sent careening towards Typhlosion.
"With pleasure, Typhlosion use Fire Blast then follow it up with Flame Wheel!" Ash commanded skillfully. Typhlosion once again ignited its collar despite the rain then fired a burst of flames that took the shape of a star at the oncoming wave then charge forward behind it tucking its body into a wheel and become surrounded by fire which rolled into the Fire Blast fusing with it. The mass of fire hit the wave smashing through it with little difficulty then continued on to crash into a shocked Simipour.
"How is something like that possible?" Georgia said in disbelief of the attack.
"Anything's possible with a little creativity." Ash answered just as he had said, creatively.
"That attack was incredible!" Molly voiced her amazement of Typhlosion's move.
"Yeah, I wonder how Ash got the idea for that?" Bianca (Johto) thought aloud.
"Hey wait a second, May didn't you do something like that once?" Brock asked the brunette next to him.
"Your right I did." May thought back to the battle between her Combusken and Drew's Absol in which she used Combusken's Overheat to weaken Absol's Water Pulse and survive the attack. "But it looks like Ash took that idea to the next level."
"Yeah but I think Typhlosion still took some damage though." Zeoy said taking note of the heavy panting coming from Ash's Pokémon.
"Alright time I got rid of that fire type, Simipour end this with Waterfall!" Georgia ordered seeing her opportunity for the win. A column of water erupted from under Simipour's feet that shot up and then arched over about to come down on Typhlosion.
"Just what we've been waiting for, do it Typhlosion!" Ash ordered shooting his fist out. Typhlosion rose to its hind legs and looked up to Simipour, its collar suddenly began to pulse with electricity confusing spectators in the stands, Georgia and even Simpour. The electricity then shot from Typhlosion's collar to its hands. "Go Typhlosion, Thunder Punch!" Just Simipour was about to hit Typhlosion gave a powerful cry and delivered an electrically charge punch to the water type's face knocking it back into the air. Before Simipour could hit the ground Typhlosion delivered one more Thunder Punch to the monkey's midsection sending it flying back past Georgia and into the wall.
"No way!" Georgia looked back to see her water type slumped down against the wall unconscious.
"Simipour is unable to battle, the winner is Typhlosion!" The ref announced raising the flag for Ash's side and Simipour's picture became blacked out on Georgia's side of the board.
The crowd burst into cheers as the first victory of the match was declared. "Great job Typhlosion!" Ash commended his Pokémon that stood tall after its win.
"Looks like having Typhlosion learn Thunder Punch was a good idea." Gary said impressed.
"Yeah, that training with Dragonite really paid off." Tracy agreed.
"Alright Ash keep it up, remember make it a clean sweep!" Iris demanded over the cheering of the crowd.
"An impressive first battle, despite type matchup and weakened attacks Ash has taken the first win." Don George commentated.
"Didn't have a doubt he would." Lt. Surge said surly.
"Ok Typhlosion come back." Ash held out a pokeball returning Typhlosion to the sphere then placed it back on his belt and retrieved a new one. "Go Staraptor!" The Predator Pokémon appeared with a shrill cry and took flight ready for battle. On the board Typholosion's image darkened then Staraptor's image appeared in the pokeball space below it.
Seeing Ash's choice Georgia ceased her frustrated growling and a confident smirk returned to her face. "After all that damage, Typhlosion is a good as out of commission." Georgia thought to herself. "Which means my ice types are about to take control, go Cryogonal!" Georgia took out her next pokeball and released a Pokémon resembling a blue snowflake with a froze facial expression that floated in midair.
"Both Trainers have selected their next Pokémon, Ash has chosen the normal and flying type Staraptor while Georgia had selected the ice type Cryogonal." Don George announced as Cryogonal's picture appeared on the board. "Once again the type advantage is in Georgia's favor but Ash has show that type is not everything in this match."
"I disagree type is a big problem right now." Iris said through chattering teeth having stopped her demands of victory and began shivering violently do to Cryogonal presence.
"Hopefully Staraptor can take the cold better than you can Iris." Dawn said truthfully.
"Trainers ready?" The referee raised both his flags as both Trainers prepared for the next bout. "Begin!"
"Cryogonal hit them with Ice Beam!" Cryogonal fired an icy beam from the top point of its body that was quickly dodged by Staraptor.
"Staraptor, Aerial Ace!" After dodging the beam Staraptor flew at Cryogonal ducking under the still active Ice Beam flew past Cryogonal clipping its side.
"Don't let them get away!" Georgia demanded after Cryogonal recovered. The ice type fired another beam trying to lock on to Staraptor but failed to as the Sinnoh flying type was dodging the beam easy with an impressive display of aerial acrobatics.
"Keep it up Staraptor." Ash encouraged his Pokémon.
"Stop it Cryogonal!" Cryogonal continued in its attempt to bring down Staraptor but showed no sign of success.
"Alright move in and use Steel Wing!" Ash ordered. Staraptor ceased dodge and flew in with its wings coated in metal and struck Cryogonal.
"Staraptor is doing great." Max observed as Staraptor held control of then battle.
"Yeah, thanks to its speed and evasive abilities those ice attacks are nothing to worry about." Brock pointed out.
"Cryogonal use Ice Shard!" Chunks of ice began to form around Cryogonal and were sent flying at Staraptor.
"Send it back with Whirlwind!" Staraptor began flapping its wings creating a strong gust that stopped the ice shards and sent them back smashing into Cryogonal then while Georgia's ice type was stunned Staraptor flew in and dealt it another Steel Wing. "It'll take way more than that to stop my Staraptor, Georgia."
"We'll see about that!" Georgia growled. "Cryogonal use Blizzard!" Cryogonal began spinning like a windmill creating a storm of snow and wind that stopped Staraptor mid flight.
"Staraptor!" Ash gasped as he watched the bird flap with all its might just to hold itself in place against the harsh winds.
"A surprise move by Cryogonal and Georgia is back in this battle." Don George informed the crowd.
"Sure did, looks like that Blizzard stopped Staraptor cold." Lt. Surge added.
"Its not the only one that's cold." Brock said from down in the bottom row hugging himself trying to gain what little warmth he could just as the rest of his friends were doing.
"This is quite an impressive display of an ice types chilling nature." Cilan evaluated.
"I think you mean freezing." May groaned.
"Actually Blizzard brings the temperature down well below freezing." Professor Oak couldn't help but inform the others of the attack's mechanics.
"This is the downside of having front row seats." Misty complained as she was shivering.
"Yeah, I never thought I'd want a seat in the nose bleeds." Gary agreed.
"I told you all ice types were trouble!" Iris scolded.
"What's the matter with you guys it's just gotten a litter colder." Zoey said not bother by the blizzard in the least.
"Zoey the rest of us didn't grow up in a place where it snows year round." Dawn reminded her fellow coordinator.
"Staraptor use Whirlwind!" Ash called out through the whipping winds. Staraptor tried flapping its wings creating another gust of wind that was quickly overwhelmed by the blizzard.
"Looks like your out in the cold!" Georgia quipped.
Ash shielded he face as the harsh winds grew stronger. "There has to be a why to get in close and stop that Blizzard, wait a second, in close that could work." Ash came to a solution. "Staraptor circle around with Quick Attack!" Staraptor gave up on trying to charge Cryogonal from the front and began to circle the field leaving a silver trail behind as it began to build up tremendous speed.
"Hate to break it to you but there's no running from Blizzard." Georgia smirked.
"Who says we're running, Staraptor use Brave Bird!" Using its increased speed Staraptor pulled in its wings as its body burst into flames and dived at Cryogonal cutting through the Blizzard then opened its wings and became surrounded by a blue aura as it slammed into Cryogonal ending its powerful Blizzard. "Now Close Combat!" While still glowing Staraptor began to kick, peck, and strike Cryogonal with its wings which forced both Pokémon into the ground.
Staraptor now stood on its feet as blue blots of electricity ran through its body causing it to wince in pain but Cryogonal lay across from it completely knocked out. "Cryogonal is unable to battle, the winner is Staraptor! The referee announced raising Ash's flag once again and Cryogonal's image was blacked out.
"Yes way to go Staraptor!" Ash congratulated his flying type who chirped happily at being praised. "Pika Pikachu PiiPiii Pika!" (That's showing them Staraptor!) Pikachu also encouraged its friend.
"I don't believe this, how could I loss two in a row." Georgia said growing more frustrated by the second once she heard the distinct cheering of one Dragon Master in training.
"Alright keep it up Ash!" Iris cheers could be heard even over the thousands of fans.
"Ash and Staraptor were incredible." Molly said as excited as always to see Ash and his Pokémon in action.
"Yeah using the speed from that Quick Attack to strengthen Brave Bird enough to cut through Blizzard was pretty cool." Max agreed.
"And by going straight into Close Combat after that Ash was able to finish Cryogonal on the spot." Gary added.
"It looks like Ash's plan is to us his Pokémon's speed to take out Georgia's team." Brock assumed.
"I believe you're right Brock, based on his choses of Typhlosion and Staraptor that does seem to be his overall idea." Cilan calculated.
Back on the field Ash reached for Staraptor's pokeball and returned his victorious bird to the sphere. "And Ash has recalled his Staraptor after another impressive display in handling type disadvantages." Don George announced.
"A good call, a little rest now could go a long way if Ash needs it again." Lt. Surge commentated.
Seeing Ash recall his Pokémon Georgia took out her own ready to even the score. "Lets see you match up in speed against my Bisharp!" Georgia threw out her pokeball releasing a Pokémon with a round, red and black head, similar to a war helmet, topped with a golden, double-headed axe blade, red shoulders that project slightly over its arms with a black torso. It had white, metallic hands that resemble gloves, with retractable, blades attached. Encircling its torso were two blades, which create the impression of a ribcage. Both of its feet were metallic and split down the middle, resembling hooves. Georgia regained her mask of confidence as Bisharp appeared on the board while Ash seemed unaffected by her chose of Pokémon.
"Ash has plenty of Pokémon that can take Bisharp on in speed." May said surly.
"That's right it's just a matter of who he choses." Misty stated.
Ash reached for another pokeball and through it onto the field. "Go Torterra!"
"What!" Ash's friends gasped all at once as the grass type's image went on to the board. "Torterra!" Dawn said in confusion.
"I thought Ash's plan was to use faster Pokémon." "Bianca(Jhoto) reiterated.
"That's defiantly what it looked like." Tracy confirmed.
"I guess Ash has something else in mind." Zoey gave the only answer.
"You think that big lug can go against Bisharp." Georgia laughed.
"Yep, Torterra is one of my go to powerhouses." Ash said surly.
"Trainers ready?" The referee raised both of his flags. "Begin!"
"It doesn't matter how strong it is when it's so slow, Bisharp use Metal Claw!" Georgia ordered with renewed stamina. Bishard's arms glowed bright and became coated in metal before rushing Torterra who stood completely still. Bishard began striking Toterra with its metal blades dealing blows to its face, sides and back but seemed to get no reaction out of the Continent Pokémon.
"Your not gonna get Torterra's attention with Steel type moves." Ash said watching as Bisharp ended its assault.
"I forgot that thing's part ground type." Georgia grumbled to herself. "Let's see how it handles this, Metal Sound!" Bisharp began rubbing its arms together causing sliver sound waves to spread out around the stadium creating an ear piercing noise that forced everyone to cover their ears.
"What is that!" Mrs. Ketchum asked as she tried to block out the painful noise.
"It's Metal Sound, it lower an opponent Special Defense!" Brock explained as he to covered his ears.
"And blows their ear drums out while they're at it!" Misty shouted angrily.
"Ahhhhhh she's a pain in the neck and in the ear!" Iris growled.
On the field even Ash and Pikachu had yielded to the effect of metal sound tried to protect their ears but Torterra stood as still a statue seeming to be unbothered by the sound. "Now Sword Dance!" Georgia ordered. Bisharp stood tall then crossed its arms and its arm blades shinned as if they had been polished. "Use Slash back to back!" Bisharp once again charged in this time with its arms blades extended and glowing white and began countless attack to the grass and ground type. Torterra showed no sign of moving just as Ash showed no sign of giving an order and allowed Bisharp to continue. "Change to Night Slash!" Bisharp's blades changed from glowing white to glowing purple and black and resumed its attack.
The flurry of blade strikes continued on with each attack connecting solidly with Toterra until Bisharp ended its onslaught breathing heavily. Torterra did little more than shack its neck slightly "Terra Tor." (That itched.)
"Torterra's fine, how can that be!" Georgia gasped.
"Torterra's not just powerful it also has a strong defense, but I think it's about time we show you its offence, Torterra use Frenzy Plant!" Torterra's body became outlined in a green aura then it slammed it front legs into the ground summoning giant roots cover spike that burst up from underneath Bisharp. The roots began to smash and lash Bisharp knocking it from one root to another.
"Bisharp use Slash to cut down those roots!" Georgia ordered but saw no attack as Bisharp was unable to counter against the plants back to back attacks. "Bisharps can't stop those roots but once they're gone Torterra will be wide open." Georgia thought to herself knowing of the drawback to Frenzy Plant.
The roots knocked Bisharp into the air and several wrapped around it, as most of the plants sank back into the field the ones hold Bisharp had stopped just before completely withdrawing into ground leaving Bisharp pinned to the field. Torterra began taking deep breaths in an effort to restore its strength after using the large amount energy needed for Frenzy Plant. "Now Bisharp use Night Slash!" Georgia commanded but saw no reaction from her trapped Pokémon. "Bisharp use Night Slash to free yourself!" Bisharp made no move to attempt the attack and laid trapped by the roots. "Bisharp why can't you break free?"
"Because it's to tired after wasting all its energy on attacking Torterra." Ash said knowing the cause.
"It's what!" Georgia gaped at her worn-out Pokémon seeing Ash's statement to be true.
"You ready Torterra?" Ash asked the grass type.
"Terra." (Ready.) The Continent Pokémon replied having regained its strength.
"Ok, Torterra use Earthquake!" Torterra trudged over to the pinned down Bisharp then reared up on to it's hind legs. Bisharp watched with wide eyes a Torterra then dropped down on top of it with its full weight which shook the entire stadium. Torterra rose up a moment later to reveal its smashed and knocked out opponent.
"Bisharp is unable to battle, Torterra is the winner!" The referee declared.
The crowd's applause rang through the stadium as Ash had now taken out half of Georgia's team. "You were awesome Torterra, nice job." Ash praised his Pokémon proudly and received a growl of gratitude from the gentle giant.
"That was an impressive move on Ash's part, to go from his fast moving Typhlosion and Staraptor to his slow but sturdy Torterra." Cilan said impressed.
"And it really caught Georgia off guard." Max noted.
"Way to go Ash half way there!" Iris cheered for her rival's defeat.
"Lets see how you handle this, go Magcargo!" Georgia called out a snail-like Pokémon made of magma with a shell made of hardened magma which then appeared on her side of the board.
"A Magcargo, she must have caught that when she went to the Jhoto region." Ash gathered after recalling Georgia's mention of her trip to the region. "Alright then, Torterra return." Ash held out his pokeball returning the grass and ground type confusing a number of viewer.
"An interesting move, in his first two matchups Ash's Pokémon were at clear disadvantages but he chose to leave them in but it seems the matchup of his grass type Torterra against Georgia's fire type Magcargo was not to his liking." Don George stated.
"Ash's Torterra is a real tank but even the strongest tank can't last forever." Surge put in his two cents.
"Go Tauros!" Ash called out the Wild Bull Pokémon who appeared with a mighty bellow and began stomping the ground.
"Trainers ready?" The referee raised both of his flags. "Begin!"
"Use Flamethrower Magcargo!" Georgia's ordered then the slug unleashed a stream of fire from its mouth.
"Tauros use Takedown! The bull Pokémon evaded the flames then charged toward Magcargo with its horns at the ready. Magcargo redirected its attack forcing Tauros to veer off as the flames came towards it then once again charge the fire type.
"Lets see how you like this, Lava Plume!" Magcargo created a wave that was a mix of smog and fire and sent it at the charging bull.
"Use Fissure!" Ash ordered quickly then Tauros rose on its hind legs then slammed its front hooves down shooting a white energy beam through the field splitting open causing the wave of lava to sink into it. "Your not the only one who can block a Lava Plume, now Tauros Takedown!" Tauros resumed its charge and smashed into Magcargo sending it flying across the field.
"Magcargo use Rock Slide!" Magcargo raised its head and then rings of energy above its body in the sky then large boulder began to fall from the rings and rain down on Tauros.
The bull Pokémon ran swiftly through the downpour of rocks ready to strike only to have its path to its opponent blocked by the boulder. "Use Stone Edge!" Ash ordered quickly. Without stopping its charge, Tauros gathered energy around its body that formed into sharp rocks then sent then hurtling into the boulders blocking its way smashing it to pieces. "Now Horn Attack!" With its target in sight Tauros charged and smashed into Magcargo once again this time horns first. "One more time!" Tauros prepared to ram Magcargo once again.
"Magcargo, Body Slam!" Magcargo picked itself up from the last attack then sprung up into the air just as Tauros was about to hit then dropped down narrowly missing Tauros who jumped back at the last second, Magcargo then unleashed another Flamethrower at point-blank on Tauros covering it in flames and pushed the Wild Bull Pokémon back. Magcargo continued its attack until Tauros gave a single buck of its broad body and dispelled the flames. "How could it withstand a Flamethrower from that close?"
"It'll take more heat than that to stop Tauros." Ash said confidently.
"Fine if that's what you want, Magcargo hit it with Fire Blast!" Magcargo opened its mouth and let loose a star shaped blast of fire at Tauros.
"Tauros charge in with Zen Headbutt!" Ash countered. Tauros took off quickly gaining speed then the center stud on its forehead began glowing which spread out creating a force field in front of the bull as it charged into the fire and passed through unharmed. Georgia was at a loss for words as her attack was once again countered in a most unusual way and Magcargo was struck by Tauros. "Now finish up with Fissure!" Tauros picked up its front hoof and slammed it down sending a beam of energy through the ground to erupt on contact with the still downed Magcargo. The attack faded to reveal the slug Pokémon was unconscious.
"Magcargo is unable to battle, the winner is Tauros!" Tauros gave a strong moo at the declaration of its victory.
"Yeah, Tauros that was great!" Ash cheered.
"I don't believe this!" Georgia growled through her teeth as she watched Ash congratulate his fourth victorious Pokémon.
"Wow, Ash is really changing things up in this battle." May said rather surprised.
"Your right, he starts out with his fast moving Typlohsion and Staraptor then switches to his defensive tank Torterra and then his raw power Tauros." Tracy expanded on the observation.
"I would seem that Ash has added some new ingredients to his battle recipe." Cilan stated.
"Well what ever it is it's working, come on Ash keep it up!" Iris cheered.
"I hope you enjoyed that win because it that last one your gonna get!" Georgia told Ash angrily.
"Nope I've still got two more to go before the match is over." Ash shot back with a smirk.
"Funny, let's see you laugh at this, Braviary!" Georgia threw out her next pokeball releasing a large, avian Pokémon with dark red feathers on its back and dark blue feathers on its underside and white feathers on its head.
"And after a decisive win by Ash's Tauros Georgia has switched to Braviary, what will Ash's choice be?" Don George commentated.
"Tauros return." Ash took the Wild Bull's pokeball and returned it to the sphere. "Alright Georgia this is what you've been waiting for, go Gabite!" Ash called out as he threw another pokeball on to the field releasing his dragon type Pokémon who then appeared in the second to last pokeball space on his side of the big screen.
"Alright go Gabite!" Iris's excitement grew as she saw Gabite take the field.
A wide smirk spread across Georgia's face. "So you do have a dragon type for me to thrash."
"Yep, but Gabite's the one who's gonna be doing the thrashing." Ash replied.
"Trainers ready?" The referee raised both of his flags. "Begin!"
"Gabite use Dragon Claw!"
"Braviary use Wing Attack!"
Gabite's claws began glowing bright green and Braviary's wings glowed white. Both Pokémon rushed one another when Gabite jumped into the air and met Braviary's energized wings with its own strengthened claws then broke apart with their attacks evenly match.
"Now use Air Slash!" Georgia ordered then Braviary brought its wings together and created a sphere of wind and energy then through it at Gabite.
"Dodge it quick!" Ash warned. Gabite jumped back dodging the wind sphere but was forced to dodge again as another was headed in its direction and once again dodged as even more were sent at it.
"Keep firing Braviary!" Georgia demand as Braviary continued to created orbs of wind then shoot them at Gabite who continued to dodge.
"Gabite send them back with Dual Chop!" Gabite stopped and stood its ground as two Air Slash attacks were headed towards it then crossed its arms and gave both orbs a quick chop sending them back smashing into Braviary. "Great now use Dragon Pulse!" Gabite created a green orb of energy in front of its mouth then fired it into the air.
Braviary escaped the cloud of black smoke created by its Air Slash and narrowly dodged Gabite dragon type move. "Use Crush Claw!" Braviary descended then charge Gabite head on as its claws glowed blue with white sparks surrounding them.
"Use Dragon Claw again!" Gabite's claws once again began to glow as the dragon and ground type rushed to meet its advisory. Each Pokémon charged one another then as the met in the center of the field landed a solid blow on their opponent. "Now Rock Smash!" Recovering quickly Gabite's claw glowed orange then slammed it down on Braviary.
"Use Slash!" Braviary's claws glowed white and it began to take swipes at Gabite that the Cave Pokémon began to quickly dodge.
"Dragon Pulse!" With Braviary still on the attack Gabite created another orb of dragon energy and fired it at close range hitting Braviary knocking it back. "Follow up with Takedown! Gabite charged in to strike but missed as Braviary climbed quickly back into the air.
"Braviary use Aerial Ace!" Braviary climbed higher then flew down until it was only inches above the field.
"Go Gabite use Dragon Rush!" Gabite became surrounded by a light blue energy then shot off the ground at impressive speed the energy then took on the shape of a dragon then easily smashed into Braviary overpowering it and driving it into the stadium wall.
The dust from the impacted settle showing Gabite standing tall while breviary was completely imbedded into the wall knocked out.
"Braviary is unable to battle, the winner is Gabite!"
"That is it, I'm through playing around, first I'm going to take out that dragon and then I'm going to take out the rest of your team!" Georgia proclaimed as she recalled Braviary and its image was blacked out.
"Big talk from someone who's one battle away from losing." Iris chuckled to herself.
"It may not be Iris, all but one of Ash's Pokémon have taken some damage and if my guess is right, Georgia's last Pokémon is not one to be taken lightly." Cilan warned.
"Go Beartic!" Georgia called out the giant ice type who gave an intimidating roar while its appearance took its place on the final pokeball on Georgia's said of the screen.
Ash and Gabite watched feeling no fear as they stared down the Freezing Pokémon. "Sorry buddy looks like you won't be battling this round." Ash looked to Pikachu on his shoulder apologetically.
"Pikachu ChuChu Pika Pii Chu." (That's alright Gabite can take this one.) Pikachu replied happily.
"Great, you ready to go Gabite?" Ash asked eagerly.
"Gabi." (Ready.)
"Your sticking with a dragon type even against my Beartic, that's the Dumbest move you've made this whole match." Georgia said confidently.
"We'll see about that." Ash replied.
"Intresting, Ash is going with Gabite against Georgia Beartic, could this be the chance Georgia's been waiting for to make a come back or will Ash make this battle a full shutout." Don George observed.
"I know who I'm putting my money on." Surge said surly.
"Trainers ready?" The referee raised both of his flags. "Begin!"
"Go Rock Smash!" Both Trainers ordered. Both Beartic's fist and Gabite's claw glowed orange as they collided with great force. Both Pokémon split apart ready to go back on the offense. "Beartic use Hidden Power!" Beartic formed multiple green orbs between its hands then fired them one after the other.
"Dodge and use Dual Chop!" Gabite moved swiftly between the incoming orbs then crossed its arms to attack once it was in range of Beartic.
"Block it with Slash!" Ash Gabite swung its arms Beartic caught them with its glowing claws.
"Hit it with Dragon Pulse!" Gabite created another orb of dragon energy in front of its mouth then unleashed it striking Beartic's face who was unable to block with it's arms occupied. Gabite fired another Dragon Pulse this time hitting Beartic in the stomach pushing it back. "Now Dragon Claw!"
"Use Ice Beam!" Beartic fired its freezing beam which Gabite block with its glowing claws causing the beam to divert in different direction. With a quick swing of its arms Gabite disrupted the beam. Icicle Crash!" Beartic took in a deep breath and released a freezing wind from its mouth into the air. Small chucnks of ice began to form in the wind until they grew into large icicles that were sent hurdling towards Gabite.
"Use Dragon Rush!" Ash ordered then Gabite surrounded its self with energy in the shape of a dragon then smashed through the falling ice and rammed into Beartic. The Freezing Pokémon staggered back from the impact.
"Beartic use Slash!"
"Gabite use Dragon Claw!"
Beartic's claws extended glowing white while Gabite's claws glowed blue. Both Pokémon charge then met at in a close quarters battle striking with their strengthened claws the ring of their attacks clashing echoed through the stadium. With one last swing Gabite and beartic struck each other knocking them both back.
"Hidden Power!"
"Dragon Pulse!"
Beartic and Gabite fired orbs of energy that collided and exploded on contact which gave Gabite the chance to rush in to deliver a swift Dragon Claw to Beartic's face.
"Rock Smash!" Beartic fist glowed orange then hit Gabite with a powerful back hand knocking the dragon away. "Now Focus Blast!" Beartic brought its hands together and created a large orb of blue energy then threw it at Gabite. As the orb hit the dragon and ground type the area around it was covered in smoke. "Alright Beartic time to put this dragon on ice, Blizzard!" Beartic opened its mouth unleashing a Blizzard even stronger than the one created by Cryogonal that swept over the area where Gabite had been hit. Georgia smirked to herself sure that she had just gained her first win but quickly disappeared as the smoke and blizzard blew over showing no sign of Gabite. "What!"
"Heads up Georgia!" Ash said getting the Dragon Buster to look up in the sky she gasped seeing Gabite high in the air having dodged the Blizzard. "Go Gabite Use Flamethrower!" Gabite opened it mouth and let loose a powerful stream of fire that rained down on Beartic. The large ice type roared in pain as the flames hit.
The fire ceased showing Beartic to be on its last legs. "Beartic!" Georgia gasped.
"Gabite finish up with Dual Chop!" Ash ordered. Gabite dropped down from the air like a jet and landed a crossed slash across Beartic's chest. The Freezing Pokemon stood as still as a statue after the attack hit before rearing back toppling like a weakened tower.
"Beartic is unable to battle, the winner of the battle and the match is Gabite and Ash!" The referee made the final call that sparked the thunderous applause of the crowd.
"Alright you were awesome Gabite!" Ash cheered as he and Pikachu ran on to the field and hugged Gabite.
"PiPika Pikachu!" (Way to go Gabite!)
"And there you have it, the winner of this first round match is Ash Ketchum after a brilliantly executed battle." Don George reiterated.
"The kid put on one heck of show and gave me just the kind of battling I like to see." Lt. Surge laughed.
"I can't believe it, I lost to another dragon." Georgia groaned as she slumped down to the ground and returned Beartic to its pokeball.
"Hey Georgia." Ash called out getting the Unova Trainer's attention "That was a pretty good battle." Ash said sincerely.
Georgia look at Ash with bewilderment which then turned into her usual smirk. "I don't know what you talking about, it would have been a great battle if it had been against a Dragon Master and your just someone with one lousy dragon." Georgia replied with her excuse as to way the battle did not matter to her then turned to leave but stopped. "But I guess it was a pretty good match." With her last word Georgia left the field her confident smirk in place.
"She really needs to lighten up." Ash laughed to himself.
Up in the stands Ash's friends cheered excited for his victory the loudest being Iris who may have been cheering more for Georgia's defeat. "Yes, dragon type Pokémon one and loud mouth dragon buster zero!"
"Ash was absolutely fantastic." Delia said with great pride in her son.
"Yeah he made all the right calls in that match." Dawn agreed.
"I almost can't believe Ash really beat her without losing a single Pokémon." Misty said very impressed.
"I can, Ash had this whole battle planned out." Said Brock getting everyone's attention.
"Brock are you serious?" Zoey asked in disbelief.
"Yep, think about it, Ash knows Georgia would have an ice type so he knew she would have a water type to protect against fire types so he sends out Typhlosion making Georgia think she's in control, even after losing that battle she felt confident thinking Typhlosion was to weak to take on her ice types." Brock began his explanation. "Then he picks Staraptor another type disadvantage to make Georgia think she's in control and it made her think Ash's strategy was only about speed which help throw her off when Ash put in Torterra, Georgia thought that would be her chance to make a comeback by using a faster Pokemon but didn't realize Torterra's strength was in defense." The breeder continued on. "Then Ash changes things up again by using the offensive power of Tauros, and to finish it all off he use the one Pokémon Georgia thinks she can always beat a dragon type, everything Ash did played on Georgia's overconfidence."
"Wow so Ash's wasn't just using battle strategies." Molly said in wonder of what Ash had truly planned.
"He was using a mental strategy." Tracy picked up on what the breeder had been saying.
"Geez who'd have guessed Ashy-boy could really use his head like that." Gary said rather surprised.
On the field Ash continued to celebrate with Gabite and Pikachu. "Alright guys we're one step closer to winning the Prism League!"
After several hours the first round of the second had come to an end with Ash's friends achieving similar successes and the remaining Trainers were now gathered to learn their next opponents.
"Congratulation to the winners of the first round you have all down well and it is now time to see the second round matchups." The Champion Lance announced to the trainers as their pictures appeared on the big screen and began to shuffle wildly until finally stopping.
"Ok now where am I?" Ash scanned the board to find his picture. "There I am!" Ash said finding his picture matched up with Barry's. "Awesome I get to battle Barry."
"Boy you sure have some lousy luck Ash having to battle me this soon and get knocked out of the Prism League." Barry said coming up behind Ash sounding very sure of himself.
"Geese thanks Barry." Ash laughed sarcastically.
"But don't think that's an excuse to give it your all, because if we don't have a totally awesome battle I'm fining you."
"You don't have to worry about, cause I'm looking forward to a great battle to." Ash said shaking his next opponent's hand.
Ash entered the Trainer's Village Pokémon Center finding it filled with Trainers being assisted by an abundance of Nurse Joys. "Brock would have meltdown if saw this." Ash said walking up to the front desk.
"Welcome to the Pokémon Center, how may I help you?" The nurse at the desk greeted.
"High Nurse Joy, my Pokémon need to rest for awhile." Ash said holding a tray that held the five pokeballs of the Pokémon he had used in his last battle.
"Of course, we'll have you Pokémon back to full health by tomorrow morning." Nurse Joy replied taking Ash's pokeballs when another nurse's voice came over the intercom.
"All available nurses report to the intensive care unit immediately." The nurse announced with urgency.
"Oh no." Nurse Joy said worriedly as members of her family rushed to the ICU.
"What's the matter?" Ash asked.
"There are several Pokémon in the ICU that were severely injured in the preliminaries yesterday and first round today." Nurse Joy answered sadly.
"How'd it happened, was there an accident?"
"No, they all faced the same opponent and he was the one who caused their injuries." Joy explained grimly.
"What?" Ash said in disbelief.
"The damage done to them was horrifying, they had to be transported here immediately after their battles."
"That's awful, are they going to be alright?" Ash said as his caring nature showed itself.
"We're still not sure." Nurse Joy said with worry.
Ash left his pokeballs and Pikachu with Nurse Joy then took off for the ICU to see the condition of the injured Pokémon when here arrived at the viewing window he found he would not be alone, standing at the window was a grim looking Conway.
"Conway?" Ash said surprised.
"Ash, what are you doing here?" Conway asked but with great sorrow weighing in his voice.
"I heard some Pokémon were hurt so I came to see them." Ash replied.
"Well unfortunately that's true and mine are among them." Conway said handing his head low.
"What!" Ash rushed to the window and gasped at what he saw. Pokémon lay on stretchers terribly wounded in one was a Crawdaunt that had cracks running all over its shell. Another was a Beedrill with both of its stingers snapped off. The next was a pidgeotto with its wings bent and broken in awkward angles and a Sentret with its tail smashed and several other injured Pokemon. Ash finally came on three Pokémon he recognized as Conway first was his Heracross that had its horn chipped and bent, next to it was his Aggron which had suffered a worse fate of having its horns snapped off completely and last was Slowking who's crown was missing several chunks. "Conway what happened to them?" Ash asked in shock.
"They were brutalized by the most ruthless Trainer I've ever seen." Conway said grimly. "I wish I could say he didn't care how badly he hurt my Pokémon and the other but it's much worse, he enjoy what he did to them."
"Who could do such a thing?"
"His name was Blake."
"Blake." Hearing the name Ash thought back to his run in with the Trainer from this morning. The blond boy stopped for a moment then turned back to Ash. "If you stand in the way of something stronger than you and get crushed its your weakness that got you hurt, I hope you and I get to battle, I love the looks on Trainer's faces like you when they see I do to their Pokémon." The words from earlier that day rang in his head. "Who is this Guy?"
In the shadow of his first victory of the second round Ash has discovered a new and far more threatening challenge, a Trainer by the name of Blake who also aims to win the Prism League and it appears this Trainer will devastate all those in his path to do so. How will Ash face this new foe?
Before someone asks me later I will say it now that Ash will not win all his matches with a full team. I just figured with Ash using all of his Pokémon, after sixteen months of trainer and with a solid strategy he could definitely beat Georgia at the very least without losing a Pokémon.
