Pokémon: The Prism League Chapter 15: Barry Impatient

Ash's POV
The first day of the second round was not what I was expecting. The day started out normal, I was out on my morning run with Pikachu, Riolu and Molly when from out of nowhere a Fearow swooped down and attacked us but not just any Fearow, the same Fearow that attacked me and Pikachu the first day of our journey back when it was a Spearow. The only thing that stopped it was its Trainer showing up, but this guy wasn't there to help us. He couldn't have cared less if we were hurt by Fearow and said if we weren't strong enough to stop it then we deserved what ever happened. I was defiantly glad to see the creep leave.
After that I had my battle with Georgia and I was actually pretty impressed with myself. Besides my usual roll with the punches tactics I had a clear plan that played off Georgia's biggest weakness, her over confidence and boy did it work. After that battle I started thinking Brock and Misty were right to tell me to use my head more back when I first started out.
I won the match with no trouble at all, but when I got to the Pokémon center afterwards I was met with a real shock. I found out that Conway had been knocked out of the competition but worse than that his Pokémon had been horribly brutalized by his opponent which put them in the intensive care unit in the Pokémon center. The last fact of this situation was what left me the most stunned, Conway's opponent was the same guy who's Fearow attacked me, Blake.
I have no idea who this guy is, but after seeing what he's done to his opponent's Pokémon I do know he's a danger to everyone in this competition.
Normal POV
On one of the many the training fields in Trainer's Village Ash and Brock were in the middle of an early morning warm-up battle between Riolu and Forretress.
"Riolu use Quick attack!"
"Forretress use Rapid Spin!"
Riolu charged forward leaving a sliver trail behind it while Forretress was spinning at high speeds. As both Pokémon collided Riolu was overpowered and knocked back by the force of Forretress's rotation.
"Now Forretress use Double Edge!" Brock ordered then Forretress shot forward leaving a yellow energy trail.
"Dodge it Riolu." Ash called out. Riolu quickly picked itself up then jumped over the bug type before it could make contact. "Use Force Palm!" The emotion Pokémon landed behind Forretress then pressed its paw to Bug and Steel type unleashing a yellow blast of energy on Forretress.
"Alright Brock I think that will do it for now." Ash told his sparring partner.
"Yeah your right, that was a pretty good workout." Brock said returning Forretress to it pokeball.
"Yep just the kind of warm up I need before a big battle." Ash replied as his excitement for his next battle filled him.
"And a tough battle, Barry's no pushover, you'll need another good game plan for this battle." Brock told his friend cautiously.
"I know that, battling Barry is defiantly going to be tougher than battling Georgia." Ash said getting the message. "Anyway I'm heading over to the stadium, the last thing I need is Barry fining me for being late."
"Right, the rest of us will be over in a little while, best of luck." Brock encouraged his friend.
"Thanks Brock, see you there." Ash said before rushing of with Pikachu and Riolu at his sides.
The trip to the stadium had been surprisingly quite on Ash's part. Instead of voicing his excitement on the upcoming match he seemed to be in deep thought. This unusual action did not go unnoticed by either of his companions.
"Pikachu Pii Pii Chu?" (Ash is something wrong?) Pikachu asked keeping pace along Ash's side.
"Oh, yeah everything's fine buddy." Ash replied quickly after being pulled from his thoughts.
"Master your mind dwells on something not related to your upcoming battle." Riolu told Ash knowingly.
Ash slowed to a stop as he knew the Emotion Pokémon had caught on to his deep turmoil. "Ok I guess I am a little worried about something ." Ash admitted to his companions.
"Pika PikaPi?" (What's wrong?)
"It's that guy Blake." Ash answered with great resentment as he uttered the name. "I have a really bad feeling about him."
"PiiPii Pikachu Pii ChuChu Pika." (Ash you shouldn't worry about him, he's a creep.) Pikachu tried to reassure his friend.
"It's more than that buddy, what he did to Conway's Pokémon, I can't understand who could do something like that, he's dangerous." Ash voiced his worries to the two tiny spectators.
"While I agree he is a danger to those who face him and defeating your rival Conway was surly no simple feat, there are many strong trainers in this competition, he will be defeated soon enough." Riolu tried to reason.
"Chu Pika Pika PiiPii Chu." (Yeah he'll be gone before you know it.)
"Yeah I guess you guys are right, I need to stop worrying and focus on my match." Ash replied sounding slightly more convinced but through his aura Riolu could tell he had not let the topic go. After their short exchange of words the trio continued on to the stadium.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the second round of the second stage of the Prism League." A familiar voice announced over the PA system. "I'm your voice to the action Don George, joining me today is the Gym Leader of Hearthome City, a woman known for her ghost types and lively personality Fantina."
"Bonjour everyone, I hope to see the most magnifique battles today!" Came the Gym Leader's reply in her think French accent.
"What did she say?" May asked confused by Fantina's native tongue.
"It seems a little counterproductive when you can't understand the person who's suppose to be the color commentator." Gary added also perplexed by her accent.
"A voice so sweet that it's incomprehensible to those of lesser ears, no truer word could be said about the lovely Fantina ." Brock said longingly with his gaze fixed on the Gym Leader depicted on the stadium big screen when his ear was taken hold of by another Gym Leader.
"The only thing incomprehensible around here is you." Misty stated pulling on the breeder's ear.
"Now for the first battle in the green stadium." Don George announced. "First we have the son of famed Frontier Brain Palmer its Barry!" The blond Twinleaf Town Trainer walked on to the field taking his position as the crowd cheered for his entry. "Next we have the Trainer who aced his first round match and is looking to do it again, it's Ash!" Ash and Pikachu took their place opposite to Barry as the crowds cheers only growing louder.
"Hey Dawn, Ash and Barry battled each other before in the Sinnoh region right?" Molly asked curiously.
"Yeah the two of them were major rivals but they never had a full battle like this before." Dawn replied.
"Alright Ash you better be ready for this." Barry warned his opponent.
"You don't have to worry about me Barry, I'm ready go." Ash shot back confidently.
"How very intriguing, I have had the pleasure of battling both of these fine Trainers and believe this will be quite the matchup." Fantina pointed out.
"Now we will decide the field that the competitors will battle on." Don George announced drawing everyone's attention to the big screen. The main screen displayed the environments used for battle then pulled them together and began shuffling until stopping on the image of a grassy field. "The meadow field it is everyone."
Ash and Barry's respective areas began to glow bringing a worried look to the Kanto Trainer's face. "Ooooh not this again!" Ash groaned just before he and Barry were enveloped in light and transported out of the stadium.
Moments later Ash and Barry now stood on a battlefield located in a scenic meadow. Once the had arrived Ash immediately began looking his body over then sighed with relief. "Oh man, I keep thinking I'm going to lose a body part in that thing."
"Pika Pika." (Me too.) Pikachu said his shoulders relaxing as he found his tail still intact.
"Both Trainers present your Pokémon." The stationed referee told both competitors bringing Ash back to the battle.
"Alright lets do it!" Ash cheered as Pikachu and Riolu readied themselves at his side.
"Ok Ash your going to see just how strong I've gotten." Barry proclaimed holding out his Pokeball.
Back at the green stadium Ash's friends were dealing with the inconvenience of once again having Ash's battle take place outside their view. "Agggh what is the point of having front row seats if Ash get zapped out of the stadium anyway." Misty growled in frustration.
"Calm down Misty, I'm bringing the battle up right now." Gary told the fuming redhead as he opened his laptop to view Ash's match. There got it, and they haven't even called out their Pokémon yet. Immediately everyone tried to squeezes together in an attempt to get a better view of the screen nearly crushing the young researcher. "This is a little to close for comfort.
"Alright Skarmory lets get going!" Barry threw out his pokeball releasing what looked to be a steel plated bird Pokémon that appeared with a loud screech.
"Buizel I chose you!" Ash called out the Sea Weasel Pokémon who stood with its arms crossed having been waiting eagerly for a battle.
"And so the first battle is Barry's Skarmory against Ash's Buizel, an unusual match up but a promising one." Don George announced after a display of both trainers with six pokeball around them was displayed and Buizel and Skarmory's pictures appeared next to their respective Trainer.
"I faced that particular Buizel before and it is most certainly a powerful opponent but I do believe Skarmory should not be taken lightly." Fantina added.
"So a water type vs. a steel type." Gary stated.
"Seems pretty even." Iris pointed out
"Yeah, it'll really depend on what attacks they call." Max added.
"Trainers ready, Begin!" On the big screen Ash and Barry's pictures clashed with versus between them.
Skarmory use Spikes!" Barry ordered quickly. Skarmory took flight then spun its body rapidly shooting tiny bolts of energy into the ground around Buizel who stood unmoving at the steel bird's attack.
"And Barry makes the first move unleashing spikes, now anytime Ash switches out a Pokémon it will immediately take damage while Barry is free to switch his out as he pleases." Don George explained.
"Yep and that's just what I'm gonna do, Skarmory return." Barry held up his pokeball to recall his steel type then Skarmory's picture faded on the display.
"Not bad Barry, but it'll take more than that to beat us." Ash said in confident tone.
"We lets see you handle this, Roserade lets get going!" Barry took his next pokeball and threw it out releasing his grass and poison type that was instantly added to his roster under the faded Skarmory. "Roserade's got the edge against a water type like Buizel."
"We'll see." Ash said unfazed by Barry's choice of Pokémon.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Roserade start out with Razor Leaf!" Barry ordered. Roserade crossed its arms then opened them wide unleashing a barrage of razor edged leafs.
"Dodge them Buizel!" Ash commanded. Buizel stood its ground then began dodging the Razor Leaf with speed not seen in most water types. "Now Water Gun!" Once clear of the leafs Buizel fired a powerful stream of water from its mouth. Roserade fired another wave of Razor Leaf that collided with Buizel's Water Gun.
"Buizel use Sonic Boom!" Buizel cut its Water Gun then spun a full 360 with its tails glowing white that sent out a powerful shockwave cutting through both the water and leafs then smashed into Roserade.
"Roserade are you alright?" Barry asked as his grass type staggered back but steadied itself and gave a nod. "Good, now use Poison Jab!" Roserade's hands changed from red and blue to purple as they appeared to be secreting poison then in one moment charge Buizel throwing a flurry of punches at the Sea Weasel Pokémon. Buizel once again began showing its impressive speed as it easily dodged each jab from it opponent.
"Now Buizel Water Pulse!" While still dodging, Buizel formed a orb of blue energy between its paws then slammed it into Roserade's stomach which burst into a shockwave of water that blasted Roserade off its feet.
"Roserade!" Barry called out.
"This match is off to a fast paced start and it seems even at a disadvantage Buizel has the upper hand." Don George said observing the match.
"It's a good thing Ash went with Buizel this round." Said Misty.
"Why's that good Misty?" Molly asked curiously.
"What's giving Ash the edge right now is Buizel's speed and of all his water Pokémon Buizel is the fastest." Misty explained.
"That's right, if he had gone with someone else like Palpitoad or Corphish they wouldn't be able to keep up with Roserade." Tracy added.
"Ok Roserade use Poison Sting!" Barry commanded as his Pokémon as it stood up from the last attack. Roserade held out its hands shooting countless purple needles giving off poisonous energy.
"Aqua Jet!" A surge of water erupted around Buizel before completely covering it. The Sea Weasel shot from the ground into the air evading the needles then closed in on its opponent.
"Petal Dance go!" Roserade began spinning releasing pink petals from all around its body sending them at the incoming Buizel. The storm of petals smashed into Buizel knocking it from the air. "Nice job Roserade, now use Magical Leaf!" Roserade jumped up then held out its hands releasing glowing green leafs that instantly homed in on Buizel who was laid out flat on its back. "Yes, there's no dodging Magical Leaf!"
"Then we'll just have to block it, Buizel Counter Shield!" Ash ordered quickly. Buizel responded to the commanded then began spinning on it back while firing Water Gun creating whips of water that blocked the leafs while at the same time struck Roserade knocking it from one whip to another as Buizel continued to spin.
"There it is, the oh so magnifique Counter Shield!" Fantina squealed with excitement seeing the very move she had named for Ash.
"How could I forget Ash had that move?" Barry asked himself as Buizel secede its spinning releasing Roserade from the water whips. "Roserade use Giga Drain!" Roserade picked itself up once again then shot glowing vines from its hands that wrapped around one of Buizel's arms. The glow began to envelope Buizel as it struggled against the vines draining its energy.
"Buizel!" Ash cried out with worry.
"We're about to turn this battle around, Giga Drain is going to take Buizel's energy and give it to Roserade." Barry said with a smirk.
"I don't think so, Buizel use Ice Punch!" Buizel's free paw glowed blue, the Sea Weasel Pokémon drove its fist into the vines restraining it instantly freezing them. Roserade watched shock as ice began covering its vines extending back to its hands. With the grass type no longer stealing its energy Buizel pulled on the vines bringing Roserade within striking distance and delivered another Ice Punch to Roserade's midsection.
"Roserade no!" Barry panicked.
Sorry Barry, but we're not gonna fall for that one again." Ash said confidently.
"Well there's more than one way to get more energy, Roserade use Ingrain!" Roserade stood up then began releasing roots from its feet into the field. "Now Roserade will start to get its energy back."
"Just what I've been waiting for, Buizel jump up and use Sonic Boom on the field!"
"Bui!" (Right!) Doing as it was ordered Buizel leapt into air then fired a sonic wave at the field, as it hit tiny explosions burst from underneath the ground catching Roserade and its roots in the blast.
"What!" Barry said shock.
"Now finish up with Ice Aqua Jet!" Ash's water type once again surrounded itself with a water jet and rocketed towards Roserade but while flying through the air the Buizel used its Ice Punch holding it out at the tip of the water jet coating it in ice.
Barry watched as the jet of ice smashed into the Roserade leaving his Pokémon knocked out. Roserade is unable to battle, the winner of the battle is Buizel!" The referee declared before Roserade's image became completely black on Barry's roster.
Back at the stadium the crowd burst into cheers at the first victory of the match. "How did Ash do that?" Bianca(Jhoto) asked still in aw of Ash's last two moves.
"He used Buizel's Sonic Boom to trigger Skarmory's spikes causing them to deal damage to Roserade instead of his own Pokémon, brilliant." Brock said truly impressed.
"Using the field itself to catch an opponent off guard as only Ash can, well done." Cilan said equally impressed.
"That Ice Aqua Jet sure has come a long way since the last time I saw it." Zoey noted.
"Ash found out that by having Buizel use Ice Punch while using Aqua Jet he wouldn't need an opponent's attack to create Ice Aqua Jet." Dawn explained the moves evolution during Ash's training.
"The first battle goes to Ash, after a number of impressive moves utilizing Buizel speed and type." Don George commentated. "Fantina your thoughts?"
"It was marvelous, both Trainers are have grown quite strong since my last battle with them and I look forward to what else they have to show us." The French woman said as her accent ruled most of the sentence.
Gary remained focused on his laptop seeing back on the meadow field Barry returned Roserade to its pokeball. "looks like the next battle's about start." Gary said only to have the group once again crowd around him.
"Now with those spikes gone Ash is free to switch out his Pokémon again." Max reminded everyone.
"Yeah but should he switch for someone else or stick with Buizel?" May thought out loud.
"Ok Empoleon lets get going!" Barry threw out his next pokeball releasing what looked to be a blue, black and white emperor penguin with a metal body that was then added to his roster.
Ash took out his pokedex and scanned Barry's partner Pokémon. "Empoleon the Emperor Pokémon, Empoleon is able to swim as a jet boat and its wings are sharp enough to slice through a block of ice."
"Buizel I'm keeping you in." Ash told his water type.
"Bui Bui." (Got it.)
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Alright Empoleon use Bubblebeam!" Barry ordered right away then Empoleon fired energized bubbles at its waiting opponent.
"Buizel stop it with Sonic Boom." Buizel gave a quick spin and released another sonic wave that cut through the bubbles.
"Now use Flash Cannon!" Empoleon held out its wings and formed an orb of light that that quickly fired a beam overpowering the Sonic Boom then smashed into Buizel.
"Buizel!" Ash cried out as his water type was knocked into the air then crash back on to the field.
"Now use Metal Claw!" Barry commanded. The tips of Empoloen's wings glowed silver and appeared to become harder, it then went on the attack ready to strike Ash's downed Pokémon.
"Buizel quick get up!" Ash warned as Empoleon was about to land a blow. Buizel saw its larger opponent standing over about to attack then quickly jumped out of the way as its wing sank into the field. "Now use Ice Punch!" Buizel's paws began emitting a chilling aura as it jumped at Empoleon.
"Empoleon block it with Steel Wing!" Barry advised. The glow at the tip of Empoleon's wings spread covering all of its arms. Empoleon raised its wings protecting itself as Buizel unleashed a flurry of punches none breaking through its steel coating.
Have successfully blocked the attack Empoleon spread its wings knocking Buizel away. The Sea Weasel Pokémon quickly corrected itself in the air landing on it feet. "Buizel use Water Pulse!" Buizel formed an orb of water between its paws and fired it at Empoleon. As the orb neared Empoleon gave a single vertical slash with its Steel Wing cutting it in two. "What!"
"Great job Empoleon, now use Aerial Ace!" Barry praised before his next order. Empoleon charged forward with such speed it appered to be flying leaving a silver trail behind it.
"Buizel, Aqua Jet!" Buizel covered itself in a jet of water and shot forward to meet Empoleon. As the two collided Empoleon smash into Buizel overpowering its Aqua Jet and knocking it across the field.
"Now Flash Cannon again!" Empoleon created another sphere of light and fired another beam that hit Buizel before the dust from its impact could settle. "Finish up with Hydro Cannon!" Barry commanded with added confidence. Empoleon opened its mouth and created a large sphere of blue energy then fired it powerful force.
Buizel slowly stood to its feet just in time to see the blast headed its way exploded. "Buizel!" Ash called out as his Pokémon became surrounded in dust. As the cloud settled Ash felt a knot form in stomach as he saw Buizel passed out on its back.
"Buizel is unable to battle the winner is Empoleon." The referee declared then Buizel's picture was blacked out.
"YES, way to go Empoleon!" Barry cheered as he and his partner Pokémon celebrated their first victory while at the stadium a large group of spectators where left in shocked.
"An impressive come back from Empoleon and Barry is back in this match." Don George said surprised by the quick shift in Power.
"No way, what just happened? Iris was the first to speak.
"Empoleon swept through Buizel like it was nothing." Bianca(Jhoto) stated in disbelief.
"I can't believe Ash lost that battle." Molly said in a saddened tone having watched Ash's first defeat of the competition.
"Barry's Empoleon has really gotten stronger." Dawn said thinking back on the past battles she had seen Barry in.
"It more than just that, Barry had Empoleon keep up the pressure on Buizel so that it didn't have a chance to properly counter attack." Brock pointed out with a hint of concern.
"Right, although Buizel is faster Empoleon is stronger, so by keeping Buizel pinned down Empoleon was able to overpower it." Max added also understanding Barry's plan.
"Well I hope Ash has a plan because Empoleon hasn't taken a single hit yet." May said also worry for the Pallet Town Trainer.
"Will everyone relax, even Ash is gonna loss a few battles here and there but it will take a lot more than that to slow him down." Gary said surly as he watched the screen to see a look of confidence still surrounded Ash.
"Buizel you did great now take a good rest." Ash said as he held out Buizel's pokeball and returned it to the sphere.
"Empoleon come back." Barry said doing the same as Ash. "Were tied up now Ash but not for long, Rapidash lets get going!" Barry threw out his pokeball releasing a white horse with a horn on its forehead and a mane of burning fire. Rapidash reared up on its back hooves and gave a nay to show its readiness for battle.
"Your right Barry not for long, go Donphan!" Ash replied as he released his mighty Armor Pokémon. Donphan let out a strong bellow and stomped its foot to match its opponent.
Barry recognized Ash's chose of Pokémon from the Lily Of The Valley Conference then took out his pokedex to gain further information on it. " Donphan the Armor Pokémon, Donphan has hard sharp tusks that show its rank in the herd and is strong enough to knock down a house with one charge."
"And the next battle is Donphan vs. Rapidash who will take the victory and the lead?" Don George announced.
"While Rapidash is swift and graceful, Donphan is powerful and sturdy, a most interesting match to be had." Fantina said with excitement.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Rapidash lets go, use Quick Attack!" Barry commanded. Rapidash galloped off leaving a silver trail behind itself.
"Donphan use Rollout!" Ash countered. Donphan tucked itself into a wheel and began rolling at high speeds headed for Rapidash.
Both Pokémon landed a glancing blow as they passed each out and prepared to attack again. "Rapidash use Flame Wheel!" Rapidash took another running start this time covering itself in flames.
"Donphan dodge it!" despite it large and heave body Donphan was able to quickly jump out of the horses path as it charge in. As Rapidash turned around to try again the Armor Pokémon evaded its Flame Wheel again with ease. Rapidash corrected its course once again and charge. "Use Stone Edge!" Two rings of light surrounded Donphan then shined brightly before shrinking into sharp stone that were sent hurtling towards Rapidash passing through the flames striking the Fire Horse Pokémon hard. "Great now use Take Down!"
"Rapidash get up quick!" Barry warned the fire type as Donphan began to charge while Rapidash was just now getting to its feet with its back to the Armor Pokémon. "Use Stomp!" With its back still turned Rapidash raised its back leg and delivered a powerful kick to Donphan's head knocking it back.
"Donphan are you ok?" Ash asked as the armored elephant shook its head then stood ready. "Alright then, use Stone Edge again!" Donphan created another batch of sharp stones and hurled them at Barry's fire type.
"Rapidash use Fire Spin!" Rapidash dodged the incoming stones then began running in a large circle. Rapidash's pace quickened leaveing a trail of fire behind it after each full lap the fire grew stronger until it was a roaring flame. Rapidash ceased its circling and now stood before Donphan both trapped in the ring of flames.
"This looks bad." Ash whispered to himself knowing his Pokémon was the one at a disadvantage in the fire.
"Rapidash use Furry Attack!" Barry ordered.
"Donphan counter with your Furry Attack." Already in close quarters Rapidash began jabbing a Donphan with its horn while Donphan defended itself with its twin tusks. The rings their colliding attacks ran through both trainers ears as the were locked in combat surrounded by flames.
"Wow look at them go." Misty said watching the intense battle between Furry Attacks.
"It looks like they're even." Tracy suspected as both Pokémon match one another strike for strike with nether showing signs of weakening.
"They are for now but Ash has to get Donphan out of that Fire Spin before it gets worn down." Brock said taking account for the flames.
Rapidash and Donphan continued to attack before locking horn and tusks respectively then quickly broke apart ending their Furry Attacks. "Fire Blast! Barry ordered then Rapidash's mane began to bend and twist into the shape of a star that flew at Donphan.
"Use Hidden Power Donphan!" Two rings of white orbs began spinning around Donphan spinning faster and faster until the orbs formed a solid ring. A single orb formed where both rings intertwined then fired a bright beam of light. As the two attacks met Donphan's hidden Power blew through Rapidash's Fire Blast and hit the Fire Horse Pokémon dead-on.
"No way!" Barry said shock to see Fire Blast be defeated.
"Alright now Earthquake!" Ash ordered. Donphan rose up on its back legs then dropped down with a mighty bellow and crushing force shaking the field disrupting the Fire Spin and kept Rapidash from regaining its balance. "Use Rollout!" Donphan took a running start then tucked itself into a wheel and rolled into Rapidash knocking it into the air.
"Rapidash quick use Bounce!" Rapidash recovered in midair and corrected itself then dropped back down to the ground as Donphan stopped rolling landing on top of the Armored Pokémon driving it into the field then jumped off all in one graceful movement. Great job Rapidash, nice one."
"Nice move Barry." Ash admitted to his opponent.
"If you think that's good then get a load of this, Rapidash use Megahorn!" Barry replied. Rapidash's horn suddenly turned gold and grew in length. The fire horse titled its head down and charged.
"Donphan use Take Down!" Donphan took off at full speed and smashed into Rapidash both Pokémon meeting in a stalemate between Rapidash's horn and Donphan's armor. Both the fire horse and the armored elephant pushed with all their might to overtake their opponent each pushing the other back only to be pushed back themselves. "Switch to Rollout!" Donphan began rolling catching Rapidash off guard as it was being pushed back then quickly jumped out of Donphan's path letting it roll on. Donphan turned around taking another pass at Rapidash only to be dodged.
"Ok Rapidash it's time for Flare Blitz!" Barry said determinedly. Rapidash gave a nay as it leapt into the air.
"Donphan stand your ground." Ash commanded causing the Armored Pokémon to stop rolling then plant feet deep into the ground bracing itself. While in the air Rapidash became surrounded by red and orange fire then launched at Donphan like a rocket. "Now Fire Fang!" Donphan's tusks became covered in fired as Rapidash closed in Donphan raised its tusks stopping Rapidash from advancing. Rapidash poured its energy it fire attempting to break through Donphan's fire incased tusks. Donphan dug deeper into the ground as it was pushed back slightly. "Now throw it!" With all its might Donphan use its tusks to throw Rapidash high into the air dispelling its Flare Blitz!
"Rapidash!" Barry paniced.
"Ok use Rollout!" Ash commanded. Taking its running start Donphan tucked into a wheel then followed Rapidash as it fell then just before Rapidash could hit the field Donphan smashed into knocking back into the air before dropping back down completely unconscious.
"Rapidash is unable to battle the winner is Donphan!" The referee made the call.
"Yes, nice job Donphan!" Ash praised his Pokémon who began swinging blowing its trunk in happiness.
"And the third battle goes to Ash and Donphan." Don George announced as the crowd cheered.
"Alright, Ash is back in control." Dawn said with relief.
"No way he was going to get caught off guard twice." Molly said with joy seeing Ash regain his lead.
"Yeah I think we all got a little to worried there for a second." Zoey admitted.
"Rapidash return, you did great out their get a good rest." Barry said returning Rapidash to its Pokeball. "Now lets see how you handle this Ash, Rhyperior lets get going!" Barry said releasing the Drill Pokémon who appeared with a fierce roar.
"Wow a Rhyperior?" Ash said surprised to see Barry utilizing the same Pokémon as his father while taking out his pokedex to scan it. "Rhyperior the Drill Pokémon, Rhyperior can launch a rock held in its hand like a missile by tightening then expanding its muscles instantly."
"Yep, I decided that if Rhyperior is a strong enough Pokémon for my dad to use then it's strong enough for me so I went out found myself a Rhyhorn and before long I had a Rhyperior." Barry explained proudly.
"Ok then, Donphan return." Ash called back his ground type returning it to its pokeball then took out another. "Go Bayleef!" The next Pokémon released was a yellow dinosaur with green buds around its neck and a leaf on its head that took the third pokeball slot on Ash's roster.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Rhyperior use Stone Edge!" Rings of light spun around Rhyperior then formed into sharp rocks that were sent flying homing in on Bayleef.
"Dodge them Bayleef!" Charging forward Bayleef weaved its way through the incoming stones. "Now use Razor Leaf!" With a quick whip of its neck Bayleef released a flurry of sharp spinning leafs from the one on top of its head. Rhyperior raised its think arms up to block the damaging leafs. "Follow it up with Petal Dance!" Bayleef ended its leaf based attack and switch to showering Rhyperior with pink petals from its collar of flower buds.
Rhyperior stood its ground allowing the petal to rain down on it. As the storm of petals stop Rhyperior appeared unfazed by both of the previous attacks.
"What?" Ash said in disbelief.
"HA, sorry Ash but my Rhyperior has the ability Solid Rock, same as my dad's." Barry explained.
"Which reduces the amount of damage a super effective attack does." Ash said as his brow furrowed as he realized the situation.
"You got it, now its time for Rock Polish!" Barry commanded. Rhyperior slammed its fist together then the orange plates on its body glowed red.
"Bayleef quick use Vine Wipe!" Ash ordered with urgency. Two vines shot from Bayleef's buds to wrap around Rhyperior but the Drill Pokémon moved with speed that contrasted its massive size.
"Good try Ash, alright Rhyperior use Hammer Arm!" Before Ash could react Rhyperior's swiftly rushed Bayleef and clotheslined her with it arms glowed orange.
"Bayleef!" Ash called out as his grass type was struck.
"Keep it up Rhyperior!" Barry told the Drill Pokémon who turned around then dashed off to deal another blow to Bayleef.
This is bad." Misty said as she and the others watched Rhyperior swiftly moved around Bayleef striking her with repeated Hammer Arm.
"How is Rhyperior moving so fast?" Iris asked baffled by the large Pokémon's great speed.
"By using Rock Polish, Rhyperior's speed rose dramatically." Cilan explained.
"Rhyperior already had a strong offence and defense and now it has speed to, Ash has to do something quick." May thought aloud.
"Now use Megahorn Rhyperior!" Rhyperior horn glowed orange before it charged Bayleef.
"Quick Bayleef try Petal Dance again!" Bayleef slowly picked itself up and managed to create another storm of petals that seemed to do little to slow Rhyperior down. Unhindered by Petal Dance Rhyperior struck Bayleef with its strengthened horn knocking her into the air. "Bayleef!" The Leaf Pokémon landed back on the field with a painful thud.
"Use Stone Edge!" Rhyperior was once again surrounded by rings of light that formed into sharpened stones then hurled them at Bayleef.
"Use Razor Leaf to knock them down!" Ash ordered thinking quickly. To injured to dodge Bayleef swung her leaf releasing anpther barrage of razor sharp leafs that collided with Rhyperior's stones both attack canceling each other out. "Now Sweet Scent!" A pleasant aroma suddenly filled the air coming from bayleef's buds seeming to put Rhyperior in a happy daze.
"Rhyperior what's wrong with you?" Barry asked confused by his pokemon's odd behavior.
"Ok Bayleef return." Ash held out Bayleef's pokeball and withdrew her from the battle resulting in her image becoming faded.
"After an intense round of battle with Rhyperior and Ash has made a withdraw what will be his next choice." Don George wondered.
"Yes he will have to chose wisely to combat Rhyperior's strength." Fantina pointed out.
So Ash, have you got a Pokémon that can got toe to toe with my Rhyperior?" Barry asked smugly.
"Yep, I've got just the fighting type for the job, go Primeape!" Ash replied then threw out a pokeball releasing a monkey-like Pokémon with a pig nose and boxing gloves who's image joined Ash's other Pokémon on the display.
"And Ash calls on the furry fueled Primeape to go against Barry's powerhouse Rhyperior, who will come out the victor?" Don George commentated.
"Who's that Pokémon?" Barry wondered reaching for his pokedex. "Primeape the Pig Monkey Pokémon, when primeape become furious its blood circulation is boosted strengthening its muscles as a result while also making it much less intelligent." The pokedex explained."Come on Ash, it'll take more than a plain old fighting type to take on Rhyperior." Barry said confidently.
"My Primeape is no plain fight type." Ash shot back as the monkey-like Pokémon bounced on the balls of its feet with its gloves raised in a fighting stance.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Well you still can't beat us, Rhyperior use Hammer Arm!" Rhyperior once again utilized its enhanced speed and charged Primeape with its arms glowing orange.
"Primeape use Focus Punch!" Ash ordered calmly. Primeape stood its ground and focused its energy into its fists.
"Nice try Ash but that's not gonna work, do it Rhyperior!" Rhyperior closed the distance between itself and Primeape and swung its Hammer Arm but felt no contact. In swift movement Primeape ducked under Rhyperior's swing then drove its glowing fist into the Drill Pokémon stomach visibly knocking the wind out it as it slid back across the field. "What the, what happened!"
"Rhyperior may have some resistance to super effective attacks, but Primeape can still pack a pretty good punch." Ash said as Primeape was shadowboxing waiting for its next order.
"How did Primeape get the energy for that Focus Punch together so fast?" Zoey wondered.
"Ash worked with all of his Pokémon that knew Focus Punch on controlling their energy easier to attack faster." Dawn explained.
"Ok Ash you got a lucky shot I'll give you that but that's the only one you get, Rhyperior use Stone Edge!" Rings of light spun around Rhyperior before forming into sharp rocks that were sent flying at Primeape.
"Dodge Primeape!" Primeape rushed forward through the flying rocks easily dipping and ducking through them.
"Follow up with Megahorn!" Rhyperior's horn extended glowing orange as it charged to meet Primeape.
"Low Sweep Primeape!" Once clear of the stone Primeape drop to the ground and slid across the field avoiding Rhyperior's Megahorn and landed a hard kick into the ground and rock type's leg.
Rhyperior roared in pain as its leg throbbed. "Rhyperior use Horn Drill!" Fighting through the pain in its leg Rhyperior's horn began spinning like a drill then looked down to strike Primeape. See the imminent danger the Pig Monkey Pokémon rolled out from under Rhyperior narrowly dodging its drill. "Go after Primeape with Hammer Arm!" Rhyperior fallowed Primeape swinging its glowing arms easily being dodged by the Pig Monkey's Boxing-like movements. "Rhyperior why are you moving so slow?" Barry said seeing his Pokémon's diminished speed then took notice of the mark on Rhyperior's leg. "Oh no that Low Sweep."
Rhyperior took another swing at Primeape but instead of dodging this time Primeape blocked and caught its arm, Rhyperior attack again with its free arm only to have that blocked as well "Now Primeape use Close Combat!" Primeape knocked away Rhyperior's limbs leaving it open to attack then began a furious onslaught of punches, kicks and any other techniques in its repertoire.
Barry watched in frustration as Rhyperior was slowly being moved back by the force of Primeape's attack. "We've got to try and end this in one shot." With one last powerful punch Primeape knocked Rhyperior back leaving a good distance between them. "Now Rhyperior use Rock Wrecker!" Barry ordered then Rhyperior formed a large rock between its hand then launched it at Primeape.
"Primeape Focus Punch one more time!" Ash commanded with no loss of confidence. One again Primeape gathered energy around it fist strengthening in punching ability the watched at the boulder sailed across the field with a single well time punch shattered it to pieces.
"No way!" Barry Panicked as Rhyperior was no left breathing heavily.
"Go Primeape use Cross Chop!" Primeape leap into then come down over the exhausted Rhyperior with its arms crossed and landed a powerful chop to Rhyperior's shoulders before jumping back."
Rhyperior stood unmoving for a mere seconds before toppling over landing with a loud slam that echoed across the meadow. "Rhyperior is unable to battle the winner is Primeape!" The referee declared.
"No way, Rhyperior." Barry said still in shock.
"Way to go Primeape, nice job!" Ash said encouragingly as the Pig Monkey raised its fists in victory.
"The tables turn as Primeape takes the win against the fierce Rhyperior." Don George commentated.
"Marvelous, Primeape's moves with the skill and precision of a well rounded dancer!" Fantina squealed.
"Primeape came through big time in that battle." May said still in aw of the fighting type's decisive win.
"For a second it looked like Rhyperior was going to be a big problem for Ash." Said Tracy.
"Yeah but know Barry's down to his last three Pokémon and Ash still had five." Bianca(Jhoto) reiterated the battle so far.
"Ash is doing well but he still needs to carful, Barry's not beat by any mean." Cilan assessed the situation.
"Rhyperior return, you were awesome Rhyperior take a good rest." Barry said to the pokeball in his hand then reached for another. "Primeape may be tough but its still weak against a flying type, lets go Skarmory!" Barry cried out as he called his steel and flying Pokémon back to battle who image was relit on the display.
"And Barry recalls Skarmory, will the Armored Bird Pokémon be able get the drop on Primeape, or will this fighting type clip Skarmory's wings." Don George announced.
"Now Primeape return." Ash quickly withdrew the Pig Monkey Pokémon.
"What's the matter Ash, running scared?" Barry taunted.
"Nope, I've just got someone else in mind to handle Skarmory." Ash shot back. "Go Pignite!" Ash released the Fire Pig Pokémon who immediately let out a snort of fire.
"And Ash has chosen his Pignite, this battle should prove to be an intense one." Don George gave his input.
"Since Skarmory's a steel type Ash has the advantage using Pignite." Dawn said observing both Pokémon.
"Actually they're evenly match." Cilan corrected. "Skarmory is a steel and flying type while Pignite is a fire and fighting type."
"So they both have an advantage over each other." Dawn replied now understanding the situation.
"It comes down to who can exploit the other's weakness better." Misty added.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
Ok Skarmory start out Air Cutter!" Skarymory responded by flapping its wings and releasing blades of wind that resembled a circular saw at Pignite.
"Pignite knock them down with Flamthrower!" Pignite fired a stream of flames from its nose knocking the incoming blades out of the air. "Flamethower once more!" Pignite released another blast of fire this time directly at Skarmory.
"Dodge it and use Metal Sound!" Skarmory flew out of the Flamethrower's path then opened its mouth and let out an ear piercing screech.
Pignite covered its ears in an attempt to block out the sound but still cringed as Skarmory's screeching grew louder. "Pignite use Flame Change!" Ash ordered over the piercing noise of Metal Sound. Pignite dropped its hands and began stomping the ground violently until fire surrounded it allow Pignite to launch into the air and smash into Skarmory silencing the Metal Sound.
"Skarmory use Steel Wing!" Barry ordered. With Pignite still in it range Skarmory struck the pig with its glowing wing knocking it away. "Now Swift!" Skarmory opened its mouth releasing star shaped rays that homed in on Pignite.
"Use Flamethrower!" Pignite fired another stream of flames past the stars that struck Skarmory just before stars hit their mark as well.
"Skarmory!"
"Pignite!"
Both Pokémon picked themselves up from attack and stood ready for their next assault. "Alright Skarmory use Aerial Ace!" Barry ordered. Skarmory took flight once again and flew in a circle to build up speed.
"Pignite, Fire Pledge!" Ash retaliated. As Skarmory flew in low at the fire type Pignite slammed its fist into the ground causing pillars of fire to erupt from the field that struck Skarmory stopping it in its tracks.
"Skarmory hang in there and use Air Slash!" Barry encouraged the flying and steel type. While still trapped in the fire Skarmory created an orb of wind and energy and threw it dispelling the flames before it hit Pignite. "Now Dark Pulse!" Next Skarmory created an orb of purple energy that started releasing waves of energy.
"Pignite counter with Flamethrower!" Pignite fired flames from its nostrils that cut through the dark energy waves and struck Skarmory directly.
"That's it, Skarmory use Brave Bird!" Barry order. Skarmory broke away from the fire then charge Pignite and pulled in its wings as its body burst into flames.
"Use Flame Charge Pignite!" Fire began to gather around Pignite's body before completely surrounding it.
Skarmory opened its wings becoming surrounded by a blue aura while Pignite launched itself at Skarmory wrapped in flames. "GO!" Both Trainers cried as their Pokémon closed in crashing into one another covering the field in smoke.
As visibility returned both Trainers could see Pignite had won and Skarmory had been knocked out. "No Skarmory!" Barry gasped.
"Skarmory is unable to battle the winner of the battle is Pignite!" The referee declared.
"Ash and Pignite secure another win with relative ease." Don George announced.
"Yes this is a most marvelous display of battling prowess." Fantina said very impressed.
"Awesome, Ash is on a roll and Barry only has two Pokémon left." Molly said with excitement.
"Now Ash just needs a plan to deal with Empoleon and whatever Barry's last Pokémon is." Max said watching as Barry returned Skarmory to its pokeball.
"Ok Hitmonlee lets get going!" Barry threw out another pokeball releasing his fighting type who took the last spot on Barry's roster. "Hitmonlee and I are about to turn this battle around." Barry said surly.
"Well Pignite and I have something to say about that." Ash shot back.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Go Hitmonlee use Rolling Kick!" Hitmonlee rushed forward and began spinning with its leg extended.
"Pignite use Flamethrower!" Pignite unleashed a stream of fire at Hitmonlee but the fighting type continued spinning passing easily through the flames to land several kicks on the fire type.
"Great job now use Mega Kick!" As Hitmonlee stopped its spinning its foot glowed blue before driving another kick straight into Pignite knocking it across the field.
"Pignite!"
"Keep it up with Close Combat!" Hitmonlee rushed in ready to continue its assault.
"Quick use Flame Charge!" Pignite shot forward surrounded by fire intercepting Hitmonlee knocking it back. "Now Fire Pledge!" Pignite punched the ground causing pillars of fire to erupt from the ground and surround Hitmonlee. "Flame Charge again!" Charging in surrounded by flames Pignite prepared to strike the trapped fighting type.
"Hitmonlee use Jump Kick!" As Pignite was about to reach the pillars of fire Hitmonlee burst from the flames striking Pignite with its knee driving it into the air then dropping down on Pignite.
"Pignite are you alright?" Ash asked as the fire type picked himself up.
"Sorry Ash but Hitmonlee's speed and strength is more than anyone can handle." Barry said confidently.
"We'll see, Pignite use Fire Blast!" Pignite unleashed fire from its nostrils that took on the shape of a star.
"Hitmonlee use Blaze Kick!" Hitmonlee jumped at the incoming Fire Blast feet first as they became covered in flames allowing it to drive through Pignite's attack to land a direct hit. "Now Close Combat!" Hitmonlee began striking with punches kicks elbows and knees knocking pignite away.
"Pignite Flame Charge!" Pignite surrounded itself in flames and charged Hitmonlee.
"Hitmonlee use Reversal!" As Pignite was about to strike Hitmonlee grappled the Fire Pig Pokémon through the fire then used Pignite momentum to slam it into the ground.
"Pignite!" Ash said with worry as he saw that the attack knocked it out.
"Pignite is unable to battle the winner is Hitmonlee!" Came the referee's verdict.
The crowd broke into cheers at battle's end Barry's comeback. "And a swift turn around from Barry in this battle, very impressive." Don George said greatly surprised.
"Yes Barry is a most resilient battler to say the least." Fantina added.
"Wow Barry's a lot better than we gave him credit for." May was the first to speak after the battle.
"Yeah he's put up more of a challenge than anyone else Ash has battled so far." Misty agreed.
"He's gotten much stronger since the Sinnoh League, that much is clear." Brock observed.
Back on the meadow Field Ash had returned Pignite to its pokeball. "So Ash think you got a Pokémon that can match up with Hitmonlee?" Barry asked tauntingly.
"Yep, go Swellow!" Ash replied calling out the vividly colored flying type that appered with a shrill cry
"Alright, there's not a fighting type around that can match Swellow in speed." Molly cheered for Ash's choice.
"And Ash has got the type advantage now to." Iris pointed out.
"Ok lets do it Swellow." Ash told his flying type.
"Swellow!" (Right!)
"Hitmonlee we've still got this." barry said surly.
"Mon lee." (No doubt.)
"Trainers ready, begin!"
"Hitmonlee use Blaze Kick!"
"Dodge it!" Hitmonlee's leg extended to an amazing length with its foot ablaze narrowly missing Swellow who then flew down the length of Hitmonlee's leg. "Use Wing Attack!" Swellow closed in then swung at the fighting type with its wing glowing white knocking Hitmonlee back.
Hitmonlee slide to a halt in front of it Trainer. "Hitmonlee counter back with Rolling Kick!" Barry ordered then Hitmonlee extended its leg and began spinning.
"Swellow charge in with Ariel Ace!" Ash commanded. Doing as Ash said Swellow flew at the still spinning Hitmonlee and flew extremely low to the point its underbelly brushed against the field and flew under Hitmonlee's kick and struck its standing leg knocking Hitmonlee off balance.
"Hitmonlee!" Barry gasped.
"Great now use Air Slash!" Ash ordered. Swellow circled around then formed an orb of wind in its wings and threw it at Hitmonlee who was unable to dodge in its unbalanced state taking the hit directly.
"Hitmonlee hang in there." Barry told the fighting type as it stood up from the last attack. "Now use Mega Kick!" Hitmonlee's leg extended rapidly with its foot glowing white narrowly missing Swellow. "Double Kick!" Hitmonlee's leg retracted only to shot out once again catching swallow by surprise allowing the fighting type to land a solid kick on the Swallow Pokémon then fallow it with another powerful kick knocking Swellow from the air. "Keep it up with Close Combat!" Fallowing Barry's command Hitmonlee went on the attack striking Swellow with a flurry of punches and kicks.
"Swellow use Peck then Wing Attack!" Swellow managed to stop Hitmonlee's assault by pecking its face then struck the Kicking Pokémon with its wings knocking it back.
"Hitmonlee use Blaze Kick!"
"Block it!" Ash commanded. Hitmonlee shot its leg out with its foot ablaze but was blocked by Swellow's Wing Attack. "Now Ariel Ace!" Swellow deflected Hitmonlee's kick before flying in close landing a powerful strike on the fighting type.
"Use Close Combat Hitmonlee!"
"Get out of there Swellow!" Ash advised. Swellow quickly escaped from within Hitmonlee's guard before a blow could be landed. "Now use Air Slash!" Swellow created another orb of wind and energy and threw it at Hitmonlee."
"Send it back with Mega Kick!" Hitmonlee took a fighting stance then kicked the incoming orb sending it with increased force back at Swellow narrowly missing the flying type but force it to climb higher into the air. "Now use High Jump Kick!" In one swift movement Hitmonlee leapt into the air jumping well over Swellow then dropped down knee first at its opponent.
"Swellow use Double Team to dodge!" Swellow's body flashed then just before Hitmonlee's attack connected Swellow seemed to split apart creating three Swellow leaving Hitmonlee to Strike the one in the middle that vanished on contact that did nothing to stop Hitmonlee from crashing knee first into the ground. As the dust from the impact settled the fighting type was seen cringing as it held its knee in pain.
"Hitmonlee!" Barry gasped seeing the damage his failed attack had done.
"Ok Swellow Sky Attack!" Ash ordered. Swellow's body became surrounded by a white aura as it rose higher into the air the dived down into Hitmonlee leaving the fighting type knocked out.
"Hitmonlee is unable to battle the winner is Swellow!" The referee announced then Hitmonlee's image was blacked out.
The crowds cheered as another victory was claimed. "And the swift a wind Swellow has taken down Hitmonlee." Don George commentated.
"Swellow soared with the utmost grace, so magnifique!" Fantina cheered.
Meanwhile Ash's friends were in a state of excitement. "Just one more win and Ash is off to the next round." Said Tracy.
"And he still has four Pokémon left while Barry only has Empoleon." Bianca (Jhoto) added.
"Without a doubt Ash is about to serve Barry quite the final course." Cilan said surly.
"Hopfully." Gary said getting everyone's attention. "Empoleon is clearly powerful and it didn't take any damage in its battle with Buizel but all of Ash's Pokémon have." The young researcher continued on. "If he's not carful Barry could comeback from this." Hearing his words everyone looked to the screen with feeling of mild concern.
"Great job out there Swellow return." Ash held a pokeball returning his flying type to the sphere as Swellow's image faded from the roster. "Go Primeape!" Ash threw out another pokeball releasing the Pig Monkey Pokémon once again. "You still ready to go Barry?" Ash asked his opponent eager for the last battle.
"You bet Ash, because if anyone can turn this around it's Empoleon!" Barry replied throuwing out Empoleon's pokeball. The water and steel type appered with a loud cry signaling its readiness for battle.
"Trainers ready, begin!"
Alright Empoleon use Bubblebeam!" Barry odered then Empoleon opened its mouth and fired a stream of energized bubbles.
"Dodge it Primeape and use Karate Chop!" Primeape rushed forward before slipping out of the bubbles path and continued on to Empoleon.
"Empoleon use Steel Wing!" As Primeape swung its arm to deliver a hard chop to Empoleon's midsection the water type blocked it with its glowing steel encased wing.
"Now Brick Break!" Ash commanded unfazed by Empoleon's block. Primeape jumped up and came down with a vertical chop that Empoleon blocked with its Steel Wing but took visibly damage as it cringed from the force of the strike that made the ground under Empoleon give way and crack.
"Use Drill Peck!" Empoleon threw Primeape off its wing then its beak and crown glowed gold before jumping at Primeape spinning like a drill.
"Dodge and then use Focus Punch!" Primeape quickly evaded the spinning Empoleon and gathered energy in its fist. Empoleon turned around taking another pass at Primape who waited with its glowing fist. As Empoleon was about to hit Primeape met the Drill Peck with its Focus Punch cause sparks to form between them. Both Pokémon fought to overpower the other but neither giving an inch until they were forced apart by the sheer power of their attacks.
"Now Empoleon Aqua Jet!" Empoleon surrounded itself with water before launching itself like a torpedo at Primeape who was caught of guard by the speed of the attack and had little time to brace itself from the impact.
"Primeape are you ok?" Ash asked after the Pig Monkey Pokémon had been knocked back by Empoleon.
"Prime!" (Yeah!) Primeape replied quickly ready to retaliate.
"Good, now use Cross Chop!" Primeape charge forward crossing its arms preparing to strike.
"Empoleon use Hydro Pump!" Empoleon opened its mouth and fired a high pressured blast of water.
Primeape swiftly jumped over the Hydro Pump then came down over Empoleon and dealt the Emperor Pokémon two powerful chops upper body.
"Use Bubblebeam!" Barry ordered. Fighting through the pain Empoleon fried another storm of bubbles with Primeape still in close range blasting the fighting type away. "Now Flash Cannon!" Empoleon created a silver orb of energy between its wings then fired a beam of light from it.
" Quick Primeape use Low Sweep!" Priemape quickly picked itself up then ran at the beam head on then ducked under it sliding into Empoleon dealing a hard kick to one of its legs causing the water type to groan in pain. "Now Mega Kick!" Primeape then drove its energized kick into Emopleon's stomach knocking it back.
"I have to end this now." Barry said to himself. "Empoleon use Hydro Cannon!" Empoleon opened its mouth this time creating a giant blue sphere of energy that was fired all at once.
Brace yourself Primeape!" Ash advised. Doing as its Trainer instructed Primeape stood its ground and prepared to take the hit dead on. When the sphere hit Primeape became surrounded in the resulting smoke.
"HA, see Ash, Empoleon is going to turn this battle around." Barry said with confidence.
"Sorry Barry but your defiantly wrong." Ash said with a smirk on his face as the smoke clear revealed Primeape to be standing and by the look on its face nothing short of furious.
"What the!" Barry said in shock. "But how?"
"You just activated Primeape's ability Anger Point, when Primeape takes a critical hit its attack get a mager boost." Ash explained.
"This isn't good." Barry panicked seeing Empoleon suffering from the after effects of Hydro Cannon.
"Alright Primeape time for you to do what you do best, use Thrash!" Ash commanded. Primeape took its order with great pleasure and rushed the exhausted water type and began a flurry of brutal strikes however unlike moves like Close Combat this attack did not rely on Primeape knowledge of fighting but on its desire to pound on something.
Primeape's vigorous thrashing finally came to a stop leaving Empoleon to fall forward knocked out by Primeape's pounding. "Empoleon is unable to battle, the winner of the battle and the match is Primeape and Ash!" The referee declared causing the crowds to break into cheers. On the big screen display Ash's image pushed Barry's to the side take over screen now joined by the image of his six Pokémon underneath his own.
"And there you have it ladies and gentlemen, Ash has claimed victory in this intense battle. "Don George announced.
"Both Ash and Barry gave us a most wonderful battle that has given me chills." Fantina cheered still thrilled by the battle.
"He did it, he did it, he did it!" Molly chanted in excitement.
"Ash was awesome today." Said Dawn.
"Yeah and so was Primeape." May agreed.
"You can always count on Primeape to give a good Thrashing." Tracy added.
"Another opponent served Ash's oh so memorable brand of battling." Cilan evaluated.
Back on the meadow field Ash Pikachu and Primeape were dancing in celabration of the win. "You did great out there Primeape!"
Pika Pika Pikachu!" (Round three here we come!) Pikachu sang.
After their dance had come to an end and Ash had returned Primeape to its pokeball the Pallet Town Trainer looked to Barry who had recalled Empoleon. "You did awesome Empoleon take a good rest." Barry told said to the pokeball.
"Hey Barry that was great match." Ash said walking over the Sinnoh trainer.
"Yeah it was, but I can't figure out how you beat me." Barry said curiously.
"Well did half the work for me." Ash replied.
"Huh, what are you talking about?" Barry asked now more confused than curious.
"I knew if I let you, you would make the first move every chance you got so after letting you make each move I just had to counter them." Ash said as a matter of fact.
What, seriously you planned it out?" Barry gasped.
"Yep."
"Well then Ash since you beat me I expect you to go on and win the whole tournament because I refuse to tell people I lost to someone who couldn't win and if you don't I'm fining you." Barry told Ash in a single breath.
Ash stood bewilder for a moment before breaking into a big grin. "You got it Barry." Ash told his friend holding out is hand.
Barry looked to the offered hand giving it a firm shake. "Glad to hear it."
"Both Trainers please return to your respective boxes." The referee said breaking up the Trainer's post battle interaction.
Doing as they were told both Ash and Barry returned to their boxes and stood waiting for further instructions when the ground beneath then began to glow. "Oh man!" Ash groaned before the teleportation took place.
Moments later Ash now found himself at Trainer's Village date center that was currently filled with other competitors. "I am never gonna get use to that." Ash sighed happy to have made it through another teleportation in one piece.
"Pika Pii." (Me neither.) Pikachu agreed from his partner's shoulder.
"Trainer Ash Ketchum?" Asked a referee coming up to Ash.
"Yes that's me." Ash replied.
"It is my duty to inform you that the third round of the second stage will begin in two hours." The referee explained.
"What, two hours, that soon!" Ash said surprised.
"Yes, your next opponents data has been brought up for you." The referee said directing Ash to an active computer.
Ash took a seat at his designated terminal and opened the file of his next opponent. "Cameron!" Ash and Pikachu stared at the picture of their next opponent showing the Unova Trainer. "Looks like we've got another tough battle coming." Ash said smiling as thoughts of his next battle ran through is mind.
The battle between Ash and Barry has ended in victory for Ash but now the third round is set to begin shortly and Ash's next opponent is Cameron. Is this Ash's chance to settle the score from the Unova League.
I'm really sorry for the long wait on this one, I had to go through a lot trail and error with things in this chapter as well as a seemingly endless amount of writers block.
Lucky now I can focus on this next chapter which is one I am very excited to be doing. The battle between Ash and Cameron has bugged me since I watched it, Cameron seems like a strong Trainer at least stronger than Barry in my opinion but I just can't see him beating Ash. Everyone else Ash lost to in tournaments all seem to be evenly matched or stronger than Ash while Cameron seemed to me like someone that was meant for an interesting battle. I actually thought Virgil was going to be the one to beat Ash. Anyway if Cameron and Ash's battle bugged you as well check out the next chapter.
