Ch 66: The Indigo league winner
Ash stood on the balcony of his Condo in just his black shorts.
He had a lot on his mind about the battle he would have the next day.
He knew that so much would be riding on his victory, not just fulfilling his dream, but his future in the elite 4.
He took a deep breath as he stared out at the stars.
Serena came up behind him.
"Can't sleep." She said.
" Nope."
"You know Ash, I can understand how nervous you are. But you've been in life or death situations, this shouldn't phase you."
"It's my dream, and my future. How can I not be."
"Because, you know what's really important. Doing your best no matter what."
Ash smiled.
He turned and lifted her up before kissing her.
"You're right."
"Alright let's get to bed. There's something else we can do to get this off your mind." She said seductively.
The next morning, Ash stood on one end of the Indigo stadium battlefield while Gary stood on the other.
"This is it folks, the final battle of the Indigo league."
"I've come a long way for this Ash. The battle I finally wanted for my assertion to the elite 4." Gary said.
"I'm ready if you are."
"Both trainers are ready. Trainers choose you pokemon." The ref said.
Ash reached for his first pokeball and held it close to his face before hurling it forward.
"I choose you Talonflame!" Ash shouted as the fire bird came out and soared over him.
"Talon!" Talonflame squawked.
Gary reached for his first pokeball and hurled it forward.
"Go Nidoking!" Gary shouted.
Gary's large Nidoking came out and roared.
"A Nidoking, well he has the advantage type wise Robb."
"Still, anything could happen Stark."
"This is it Nidoking, we have to win here. Start off with Rock slide."
Nidoking smashed the ground and came up with several large rocks before hurling each into the air at Talonflame.
"Talonflame use Agility and fly in lower." Ash said.
Talonflame made several quick movements avoiding each of the incoming rocks before flying closer to Nidoking.
"Nidoking use Sludge wave."
Nidoking raised a wave of sludge in front of him before launching it at Talonflame.
"Talonflame use Flame charge through the sludge." Ash said.
Talonflame covered himself in fire and flew easily through the sludge, burning through it.
Nidoking raised another wave of Sludge , and another and another. Each time, Talonflame slowed down little and Nidoking saw his path.
Gary smiled.
"Now I've got you, Nidoking Stone edge!"
"Talonflame use Agility!" Ash shouted.
Talonflame tried to move , but he had been slowed to much and was too close to Nidoking.
The large poison-earth pokemon raised his arms and unleashed a furry of spiked rocks, head on into Talonflame.
"Talonflame!" Ash shouted.
Talonflame crashed into the ground with his fire extinguished and his eyes swirly.
"Talonflame is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Astounding folks, trainer Gary Oak takes an early lead without even taking a hit."
Ash grit his teeth as he returned Talonflame.
"Rest up Talonflame."
"Well well, Gary is off to a good start." Oak said.
"He's winning." Leaf said as Serena and the others in the group gave concerned looks.
"Come on Ash, this is only just a setback." Serena said.
Ash took out his next pokeball and held it close to his face.
"I choose you Crawdaunt." Ash said as his large Crawdaunt came out of his next pokeball.
"A Crawdaunt huh, I've got a better idea. Nidoking return, I'll need you later." Gary said as he took out his next pokeball.
" Go Scizor." Gary said as a large Scizor came of and hovered over the ground.
The two pokemon slowly opened and shut their claws at each other.
"A Scizor now. Alright we can still do this Crawdaunt, Start off with Swordsdance." Ash said.
Crawdaunt glowed blue as he sharply raised his attack power.
"Don't give him a chance Scizor , use X-Scissor."
Scizor quickly flew over and raised his claws.
"Crabhammer!"
"Craw!" Crawdaunt shouted as he knocked Scizor's arms aside.
"Scizor use Agility."
Before Crawdaunt could strike again, Scizor quickly flew up and over him, landing behind him.
"Leer!" Gary shouted as Scizor's eyes glowed blue and he lowered Crawdaunt's defenses.
" Crawdaunt use Bubblebeam!"
Crawdaunt quickly turned aimed his right claw.
"Double team Scizor!"
Scizor quickly made a dozen or so copies of himself all around Crawdaunt.
"Crawdaunt use Crabhammer with Bubblebeam."
Crawdaunt quickly sprayed the ground all around him with bubbles before smashing it with Crabhammer. The resulting force hurled the bubbles in every direction, destroying all of the copies.
"Scizor use Metal claw!" The real Scizor slashed each of the incoming bubbles with his claws, keeping him safe.
Ash was frustrated, Gary certainly wasn't the same as the trainers he faced earlier. He and his pokemon were much more professional.
"Scizor use Metal claw on him."
"What?" Ash said a bit confused why Gary wicked try a direct attack that wouldn't be effective. He was up to something.
"Crawdaunt use Crabhammer!"
Crawdaunt raised his claws and hurled them at Scizor.
"Now Agility!" Gary shouted.
"I thought he'd try something. Crawdaunt use Taunt!"
Before Scizor could use Agility, he saw the now cocky and mocking expression on Crawdaunt's face and became so enraged that he only wanted to attack Crawdaunt head on.
"Scizor!" Scizor shouted as he hurled his claws at Crawdaunt.
"Scizor no!"
"Ash saw Gary's strategy, try to use agility to hit from behind. But Taunt kept him from doing anything but attacking." Red said.
"Come on Crawdaunt!" Serena shouted.
Crawdaunt smashed his claws into Scizor's, hurling the metal bug back. However, Scizor's wings allowed him to stay in the air and avoid damage.
"These are some crafty trainers and pokemon folks."
"Alright Scizor use Razor wind!" Gary shouted.
"Scizor!" Scizor growled as he unleashed a powerful and sharp wind that Crawdaunt had to brace himself to endure.
"Now use X-Scissor!"
"Crawdaunt let the wind take you." Ash said as Crawdaunt stopped fighting the wind and let it carry him back and away from Scizor's Strike.
"Scizor ride the wind!" Scizor rode his own wind and was carried all the way to Crawdaunt.
"X-Scissors!"
"Scizor!" Scizor growled as he slashed across Crawdaunt's head.
"Crawdaunt!" .
"Craw." Crawdaunt groaned as he lay on his side with swirly eyes.
"Crawdaunt is unable to continue." The ref said.
"Alright Scizor!" Gary shouted with his arm raised.
"Yes two down." Leaf said.
Serena has now very scared, she had never seen Ash losing like this in a long time.
"Come on, don't give up Ash." Red said.
Felix watched his son intensely.
"He can do it. He will."
Unknown to Ash, in the private box, Daniel and Lance were watching as well.
"I told you the Oak boy would win." Lance said.
"The battle isn't over yet Lance." Daniel said as he stared at Ash.
Ash grit his teeth as he returned Crawdaunt and slowly lowered his head.
"This is exactly how I wanted this to be going. I just need to keep it up." Gary said.
"Pika." Pikachu said as he turned to Ash with his first tightened.
"It's now or never." Ash said as he took out his next pokeball.
"I choose you , Lucario!" He shouted as Lucario came out and took an aggressive stance in front of Ash.
"Grouu!" He growled with a fierce look.
Gary's confident expression changed to a slightly more serious one now.
"Trainer Ash Ketchum how now brought out his Lucario, could this be what he needs to turn it around?"
"Alright since Taunt's over, Scizor use Agility with Leer."
Scizor made several very fast movements around Lucario as he also lowered his defenses with several consecutive Leer attacks.
"How many Leers was that?" Sam asked nervously.
"I counted at least 3." Ritchie said.
"Lucario's defense's have to be pretty weakened by now," Brock said in a worried tone.
Serena didn't say anything, she just kept watching closely.
"Lucario lock onto him and use low Sweep."
With his aura enhanced senses, Lucario was able to feel, hear, and see where Scizor would be.
In a single motion, he hurled his leg up and smashed it into Scizor's face.
Gary and the audience could almost feel the kick themselves watching it as Scizor was hurled back like a rag doll.
"Swords dance into Focus punch!" Ash shouted.
With unbelievable speed, Lucario glowed blue and sharply raised his attack before sprinting forward while also gathering focus.
Before Gary could even call anything out, Lucario was now glowing red and leapt over Scizor as he got up and saw Lucario's right fist crash into his face, nearly digging his head into the dirt from the Focus punch.
When Lucario got up he saw Scizor's eyes swirly.
"Scizor is unable to battle." The ref said.
The crowd began applauding much louder now.
"Amazing folks, Ash's Lucario is simply amazing."
"Alright Ash!" Red shouted.
"Go Lucario!" Korrina shouted.
Serena let out a breath of relief.
"Grouu!" Lucario roared.
Gary grit his teeth as he returned Scizor.
"Alright I should have known his Lucario might be a problem. Lucky for me Nidoking is good against fighting types. Go!" Gary shouted as Nidoking came back out.
"Let's see him beat Nidoking when his defenses are as low as they are. Nidoking use Stone edge!" Gary shouted.
"Lucario close combat!" Ash shouted.
Lucario raised his arms and held them out in a fighting stance as the sharp rocks flew at him. Luke a kung fu master, Lucario unleashed lighting strikes on each rock before it could hit him.
"Earth power!" Gary shouted.
"King!" Nidoking roared as he unleashed a massive wave of seismic energy that tore through the ground and hit Lucario dead in the center of his chest, hurling him back.
"Lucario!" Ash shouted.
"Ground type moves are quite effective on Lucario, and he took 3 leers, so that had to do some damage." Oak said.
Despite this, Lucario got right back up and growled.
"Geez that's one tough Lucario. But his attacks can't hurt Nidoking, he's resistant to fighting type moves. Nidoking use Earth power!"
"Lucario use Extremespeed to dodge it!"
Lucario sprinted far ahead of the incoming Earth power.
"Horn attack!"
Nidoking sprinted forward with his horn lowered.
Lucario acrobatically leapt up and over Nidoking, pushing off his back and doing 2 front flips before landing behind him.
"Swords dance."
"Double kick."
Just as Lucario finished gathering more attack power, Nidoking leapt up and tried to kick him.
Lucario dodged each strike and leapt back.
"Earth power!"
As soon as Lucario landed, he was hit with Earth power again and knocked onto his back.
"Finish him with Focus punch!"
Nidoking's fist glowed red as he charged forward and gathered focus.
"Lucario Focus Punch!" Ash shouted.
Lucario grunted as he slowly got up and gathered focus.
As soon as his first began to glow red, Nidoking reached him and crashed his focus Punch into his face.
Ash grit his teeth as he felt the pain Lucario was in.
Everyone in the stadium watched in disbelief as Lucario stood his ground.
"What?"! Gary said in utter disbelief at what he was seeing.
Even Nidoking had a frightened expression as he saw Lucario's determined face.
"Grouuu!" Lucario roared as he smashed Nidoking across the face with Focus punch and hurled him back.
Nidoking landed on his back with swirly eyes.
"Nidoking is unable to battle!" The ref shouted.
"Folks I've seen a lot of things in my life, but this is one of a kind." The announcer said.
The crowd was now in an uproar of applause for Lucario.
"Great work Lucario!" Ash shouted.
Felix smiled.
"That's my boy."
"Yes! You did it!" Serena shouted.
Oak and Leaf were just as shocked as Gary was, who's mouth was still hanging open.
Lucario's vision began to grow blurry as he also began to stumble before he fell over with swirly eyes.
"Lucario is also unable to battle." The ref said.
"It looks like all those super effective attacks and lowered defenses were too much for even Lucario folks."
"Lucario return, you were like a legendary out there Lucario." Ash said.
"Nidoking return. Alright at least we got that Lucario out of the fight. I mean geez. Ok Ashy boy, don't think that your Lucario's skills are going to win you the match. I'm still ahead by one and I've yet to reveal my toughest pokemon. " Gary said as he took out his next pokeball.
"Go Arcanine!" Gary shouted.
Gary's Arcanine came out and roared.
Ash took out his next pokeball and held it close.
"I choose you Tauros!" Ash shouted.
"Moahh!" Tauros shouted as he came out and held his horns up high.
"Tauros use Take down!" Ash shouted as Tauros charged at Arcanine.
"Extreme speed with Fire blast."
Before Tauros could reach him, Arcanine sprinted at an angle so he was facing Tauro's side when he unleashed a symbol shaped burst of fire and hit him dead on in the side of his body.
"Moahh." Tauros grunted.
Ash grit his teeth.
"That's not gonna work Ashy boy."
"Tauros use Take down, but don't use a clear path." Ash said as Tauros charged forward on a sporadic path difficult for Arcanine to track.
"Not gonna work, Double team with fire blast."
Arcanine made a dozen copies of himself that surrounded Tauros before they each launched a Fire blast and the real one hit Tauros.
"Moahh!" Tauros shouted in pain.
"It seems Tauros can't land a hit on Arcanine." The announcer said.
"Gary's Arcanine is well trained." Lucy said.
"Come on Tauros." Serena said.
"Tauros use Earthquake!" Ash shouted.
"Moahh!" Tauros shouted as he unleashed a large ground quake.
"Arcanine Wild Charge!" Gary shouted.
Arcanine covered himself in electricity before Spring forward and leaping off the ground just before the ground quake could reach him.
Arcanine then soared through the air before crashing into tauros and unleashing all the electricity he had stored.
"Tauros!"
"Moahh!" Tauros shouted in pain before he fell over with swirly eyes.
"Tauros is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Ha chalk up another one for Gary Oak!" Gary shouted.
"That's it folks, Gary is now ahead 4 to 2."
"Ash is in trouble now. If he's going to win, both of his pokemon have to take down 2 of Gary's pokemon." Red said.
Serena was back in a very fearful state as she clasped her hands together.
"Tauros return, rest Tauros. Alright we need to turn it around here." Ash said as he turned to Pikachu and he turned to him.
"Pika!" Pikachu said nodding.
Ash turned back to Gary.
"I choose you Pikachu!"
Pikachu leapt down from Ash's shouter and stood in front of him with his cheeks sparking.
Gary gave another serious expression.
"Alright, Arcanine use Fire blast!"
"Aroow!" Arcanine roared as he unleashed a large symbol shaped burst of fire.
"Pikachu dodge and use Thunder!"
Pikachu dodged the symbol shaped burst of fire like a pro and unleashed a massive blast of thunder.
"Dig." Gary said.
Arcanine quickly burrowed his way underground and narrowly avoided the incoming Thunder.
"Pikachu get ready to move." Ash said as Pikachu tried to feel the ground movements.
However, Arcanine's movements were sporadic and uneasy to track.
Arcanine burst up and out of the ground , crashing into Pikachu with the super effective attack.
"Pikachu!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu landed on his feet and kept a determined face.
"Pikachu use Electroball close to the ground!" Ash shouted.
"Pika chu!" Pikachu shouted as he hurled his tail and unleashed a ball of electricity.
The ball hit the ground near Arcanine and sparked the electricity around the ground.
Arcanine leapt up and over the sparks as they shot across the ground.
"Arcanine use Double team."
Arcanine quickly made a dozen or so copies of himself around the battlefield.
"Pikachu quick attack!"
Pikachu shot forward like lighting and tore through several of the copies.
"Now I've got you, Bulldozer!" Arcanine smashed his feet into the ground , unleashing seismic quakes across the ground that hit Pikachu as soon as he landed.
"PIkachu!" Ash shouted as Pikachu crashed across the ground.
"Yes! You see Ash, I've been studying you Pikachu well. I know how to beat him." Gary said.
Ash tightened his first as Pikachu slowly got up.
"Two super effective attacks, how much more can Pikachu take?" Sam asked.
"He can take anything Gary has." Serena said in a more serious tone.
Pikachu got up and growled at Arcanine again.
"We're not giving up! Pikachu Thunder!"
"Pika , chu!" Pikachu shouted as he unleashed another blast of lighting at Arcanine.
"Dig." Gary said as Arcanine burrowed underground.
"Wait for it." Ash said as he waited another 3 seconds.
"Iron tail on the ground!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu turned his tail metal before smashing the ground and causing it to shake.
Arcanine burst out of the ground just in front of Pikachu. His path had been altered from the shaking of the ground.
"Thunder!" Ash shouted.
While Arcanine was still in the air, Pikachu blasted him with Thunder at very close range.
"Arcanine!" Gary shouted.
"Aroow!" Arcanine shouted in pain before landing on the ground with swirly eyes.
"Arcanine is unable to battle." The ref said.
"And just like that folks Ash comes back."
Serena let out some more relief.
"There's Pikachu for you. So small, but so powerful." Red said.
"Arcanine return. Ok he's got the speed and power of a lightning strike. Too bad for you Ash that my next pokemon is immune to electric attacks. Go Nidoqueen!" Gary shouted as a large Nidoqueen came out and roared.
"Trainer Gary Oak has now chosen a Nidoqueen."
Ash and Pikachu kept their determined expressions.
"That's not good, Nidoqueen is immune to electric attacks." Brock said.
"Gary made a smart choice." Leaf said.
"Type match up doesn't matter to Ash, or his pokemon." Serena said.
"Nidoqqueen use Earth Power!"
"Pikachu use Agility!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu sprinted forward across the ground and leapt up before any of the ground quakes could hit him.
"Nidoqueen use Stone edge!" Gary shouted.
Nidoqueen unleashed Stone edge in a wide range.
"Pikachu Iron tail!" Ash shouted as Pikachu leapt up and smashed through any of the incoming rocks.
"Now I've got you, Earth power!" Gary shouted.
Before Pikachu could hit the ground, Nidoqueen unleashed another ground quake that hit Pikachu the moment he landed.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted as he was hurled back and landed on the ground.
"Another direct hit folks. I don't know how much more Pikachu can take."
Pikachu got up and began breathing deeply.
"Keep up the pressure Nidoqueen use Stone edge."
Nidoqueen smashed the ground before hurling dozens of rocks at Pikachu.
"Pikachu dodge it!" Ash shouted.
Despite his fatigue, Pikachu sprinted forward and used his unbelievable agility to move forward and avoided each rock.
"Nidoqueen use Bulldoze!" Nidoqueen sprinted forward with seismic energy behind her.
Despite her speed, Pikachu was able to leap around her and landed.
"Nidoqueen Stone edge!"
Nidoqueen made a sharp turn and unleashed more sharp rocks.
"Iron tail!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu then smashed the incoming rocks the best he could, but the fatigue was starting to get to him.
"Nidoqueen use Earth Power!"
"Jump!" Ash shouted
Pikachu leapt up just before the Quake could hit him.
"Bulldoze!" Gary shouted.
Before Pikachu could hit the ground, Nidoqueen sprinted forward and smashed into Pikachu, unleashing all the seismic energy.
Pikachu crashed into the ground with Gary and Nidoqueen smiling excitedly.
Serena and the others all gave very afraid expressions as well.
Ash kept a calm expression as he took a deep breath.
He then opened his eyes.
After hitting the ground, Pikachu got back on his feet with a very determined face.
"Iron tail!"
With Nidoqueen right in front of him. Pikachu leapt up and smashed his metal tail right between Nidoqueen's eyes.
After Pikachu landed, Nidoqueen stumbled backwards before landing on her back with swirly eyes.
"What?" Gary said sweat dropping.
"Nidoqueen is unable to battle."
"Unbelievable folks. Trainer Ash turns it around again."
Serena's eyes lit up.
"He did it." She said.
"How?" Leaf asked.
"That's Ash and Pikachu for you." Red said.
Pikachu's vision began to grow blurry as he struggled to stay on his feet.
Ash could feel how hurt and tired Pikachu was feeling and knew he had enough.
He ran out onto the field and picked up Pikachu in his arms.
"You've done enough Pikachu." Ash said.
"Trainer Ash Ketchum's Pikachu has beaten 2 of Gary Oak's pokemon. But he is too tired and hurt to continue, thus he is taken out of the match."
"Nidoqueen return. Go Golem!" Gary shouted as the large rock pokemon came out
" Ok just one more Pokemon, we can do this Golem." Gary said.
"This is it Robb, Ash is down to his last pokemon. His last chance to win."
"Well Stark he already chose his 6 pokemon before he came here, which means if he made the wrong choice then it could cost him the match now."
"His last choice. Who did he pick?" Brock asked.
"I don't know." Lucy said.
Serena already knew who Ash had picked, he hadn't used this pokemon since he got to the Indigo Plateau.
She also knew that if any of Ash's Pokemon could finish this match, it was him.
"You can do this Ash. Never give up until the end." Serena said.
Daniel also watched closely as Ash took out his last pokeball.
"It doesn't matter who you pick Ash, I've already won." Gary said.
"Not yet." Ash said as he held up his last pokeball.
"I choose you Charizard!" Ash shouted.
Charizard flew out of the pokeball and roared as he landed in front of Ash.
One again Gary sweat dropped upon seeing Charizard.
"Charizard, why did it have to be him." Gary said hearing all to well about Ash's Charizard.
"Well folks it seems trainer Ash Ketchum has saved his best for last."
"I agree Stark, I've heard legendary stories about this Charizard. I hear he even defeated the legendary Tarvel city gym leader's Salamence."
"He's still at a disadvantage type wise Robb."
"That hasn't stopped Ash yet."
"I knew he'd pick him." Daniel said.
"I don't care how strong that Charizard is. He's not going to beat both of Gary's pokemon." Lance said.
Daniel smiled.
"You shouldn't underestimate a motivated young trainer and his Charizard. I remember another young trainer's Charizard knocking out all 3 of your remaining pokemon in a battle many years ago."
"He's not you." Lance said.
"He's more like me than you think. Who nows where he'll be some day."
Charla came out of her Pokeball when she heard Ash send out Charizard and took up several seats.
" Uh I can't see." Clemont started before Charla turned her head and growled on him.
"Ok I'm sorry." Clemont said sweat dropping before Charla turned back to Charizard.
"We'll put out this lizard with some good old fashioned rocks. Golem use Stone edge."
"Charizard use Dragon pulse and Air slash!" Ash said.
Charizard flew forward and with deadly power opened his mouth and blasted most of the Stones with dragon energy, during them to dust. He then slashed through the rest with his wings and claws without taking any damage.
Gary sweat dropped and gave a frustrated look.
"Golem use Rock tomb!"
Golem hurled several massive boulders into the air above Charizard.
"Charizard again." Ash said.
Once again Charizard blasted 3 of the rocks with Dragon pulse before slicing clean through the last 2.
He then turned to Golem who was now looking a bit scared.
"Air slash!" Ash shouted as Charizard flew down right at him.
"Golem use dig!".
Golem burrowed his way underground leaving a large hole in the battlefield.
"Charizard use Airslash!" Ash shouted.
To everyone's great surprise , Charizard tucked his wings in and actually flew down the hole in the battlefield Golem made.
"What? You're crazy!" Gary shouted.
A few moments later the ground burst open as Golem flew out of it with Charizard slashing across his body.
"Amazing folks, Charizard has forced Golem out of his own hole."
Golem landed on the ground and struggled to get to his feet.
Charizard then flew right over Golem.
"Dragon Pulse!"
Charizard opened his mouth and roared as he unleashed a massive pulse of dragon energy.
The Dragon pulse soared through the air and crashed into Golem.
"Goooo!" Golem shouted out before he fainted.
"Golem is unable to battle." The ref said as the crowd broke out in applause.
"Ash's Charizard has taken down Golem. It's come down to one on one folks, one on one."
"Alright Charizard!" Red shouted.
"Yes, yes." Serena said as Charla roared in excitement.
"It appears it has come down to the last pokemon." Oak said.
"I had a feeling it would." Felix said.
Gary returned Golem before he took out his last pokemon.
"I've come to far Ash. I wanted to be the one who beat you to get into the elite 4, and I will. I have a lot of respect for you as a trainer. How else could you have come this far and beaten 5 of my pokemon. But I am still better."
"That's your problem Gary, it's all I and you. I didn't do this alone, I had and have all my pokemon beside me." Ash said.
"I trained my pokemon,I made them strong, I took care of them, and I got them here. Everything they accomplished , so did I. You may have you strongest pokemon here, but unfortunately for you, I have one more pokemon, and that pokemon happens to be my most powerful. My first and oldest pokemon. I wanted to win with him, and now I will."
Gary said as he took out his last pokeball and threw it forward.
Ash and the others saw as Gary's Blastoise came out.
"Blast!" Blastoise roared.
"Gary's Blastoise." Sam said sounding afraid.
"That's Gary's best pokemon. This will be the best battle of the league." Oak said.
Ash and Charizard noticed something around Blastoise's neck.
Daniel smiled when he saw Blastoise.
"I knew it would come down to this."
"His Blastoise and his Charizard." Lance said.
"Yes, which is why I have Gary something before he left for the Indigo plateau that would truly prove who between these two is worthy."
"I also have one last surprise for you Ashy boy." Gary said as he smiled as he revealed a bracelet around his wrist with a mega evolution stone in it.
"A Mega evolution stone." Ash said before Gary pressed it.
His Blastoise began to glow as a colorful sphere formed around him and he transformed into Mega Blastoise.
"Blast!" He roared.
"Mega evolution?" Serena said.
"When did he get the stones?" Oak asked.
Felix looked up at the private box.
"Daniel, you wanted a real match."
Ash and Charizard smiled.
"Can't think of a better way to end this battle."Ash said as he raised his right hidden blade bracer and touched his own stone.
Charizard Mega evolved into Charizard Y and roared as he flew over Ash.
"Two Mega evolutions,the two of the strongest pokemon in the league, from the two strongest trainers. This is how you end a pokemon league."
Ash and Gary stared intensely at each other as their pokemon did the same.
"Charizard, use Air Slash!"
Charizard Y flew like lighting at Mega Blastoise with his claws held out and his wings ready.
"Blastoise Iron Defense."
Mega Blastoise tightened his defenses as his shell turned metal and he readied his stance.
When Charizard Y slashed him, he took little damage and stood his ground.
"Hydro pump!" Gary shouted.
Before Charizard Y could get away, Mega Blastoise aimed all 3 of his cannons at Charizard Y and blasted him with a massive jet of Water that hurled him back.
"Direct hit." Brock said nervously.
"Hold on Charizard!" Serena shouted as Charla gave a concerned growl.
"Charizard drop and go in low!" Ash shouted.
Charizard Y brought his wings in and fell straight to the ground out of the water.
When he was close enough he brought his wings out and flew right at Mega Blastoise's legs.
"Blastoise move!" Gary shouted , but was too late.
Charizard Y slashed Mega Blastoise's unprotected legs and hurled him forward.
He then made another sharp turn around and time this head at Mega Blastoise's unprotected head.
"Dragon Pulse!" Ash shouted.
"Grauuu!" Charizard Y roared as he blasted Mega Blastoise's face with a pulse of Dragon energy.
"Just like that folks, Charizard comes back."
"Blastoise use Flash cannon!"
Blastoise let out a wave of blinding light at Charizard Y.
"Charizard look out!"
Charizard Y managed to avoid most of the attack, but part of it hit his face and let him temporarily blinded.
"He's hit." Serena said concerned.
"Grauu!" Charla roared at Charizard Y.
"Charizard, listen to my voice and feel my aura." Ash said to Charizard Y via aura message.
Charizard Y steadied himself as his eyes began to glow blue.
"Blastoise use Hydro pump."
Mega Blastoise aimed all 3 of his cannons and unleashed a massive jet of water at Charizard Y.
"Charizard move forward and down." Ash said.
Charizard moved as Ash said and avoided the incoming attack like he saw the attack and flew down with incredible speed.
"Rapid spin."
Mega Blastoise got inside his shell and hurled himself forward at Charizard Y.
"Move at an angle to the left."
Once again, Charizard Y's speed and agility allowed him to easily move around and behind Mega Blastoise.
Mega Blastoise landed and came out of his shell before facing Charizard Y.
"He's too fast, use Blizzard. Aim for his wings."
"Charizard fly in low." Ash said.
Charizard Y tried to fly in low but Mega Blastoise unleashed his attack fast and hit the upper parts of his wings, causing him to slow and fall.
"Got him, Hydro pump!"
"Charizard fire around you and move up."
Charizard Y quickly unleashed unbelievable hot fire around him as he spun around and brought the fire around his wings. The fire easily melted the ice away and allowed him to fly up and above the Hydro pump.
" Air slash!"
"Grauu!" Charizard Y roared as he flew forward and slashed Mega Blastoise across the face.
Mega Blastoise stumbled backwards before regaining himself.
"No more. Blastoise use Blizzard in the air."
Mega Blastoise unleashed another thick Blizzard into the air.
"Flamethrower into Dragon Pulse!" Ash shouted.
Charizard Y flew down and used fire to burn his way through the ice and snow before seeing Mega Blastoise close to him.
"Hydro Cannon!" Gary shouted.
Mega Blastoise's cannons glowed before he unleashed a jet of water like none other that hit Charizard Y and hurled him up.
"Hydro Cannon?" Ash said as he felt the power of the attack when it impacted Charizard.
"That's the most powerful water move in existence." Oak said.
"He did it then!" Leaf shouted.
Charla saw Charizard Y and nearly broke down as she saw him fall from the sky.
"No." Serena said.
Lance smiled.
"Game, set, match." He said.
"Not yet." Daniel said.
Ash took a deep breath before he reached out to Charizard Y as he fell.
"Never give up, never give up until the end." He said.
Charizard began to see himself loosing to Red's Charizard X 6 years ago. The feeling of failure, and disgrace. He was ready to let it end, when he realized everything Ash and him had been through. From Kalos to Kanto.
From Lysandre, to Mewtwo X.
It wasn't going to end like it did 6 years ago.
Just before he hit the ground , Charizard Y's tail flame exploded around him as blaze took effect and he was covered in fire.
He hurled his wings out and caught himself as he flew up and over Mega Blastoise.
"Grauuu!" He roared.
"He's still in this?" Gary said sweat dropping.
"We're not done yet." Ash said.
"He's still fighting!" Serena shouted.
"Grauu!" Charla roared.
"He just won't give up." Red said smiling.
"Trainer Ash Ketchum's pokemon just keep refusing to go down."
"Put out that fire, Hydro cannon!" Gary shouted.
Mega Blastoise aimed his cannons at Charizard Y.
"Blast Burn!" Ash shouted.
"Grauuu!" Charizard Y roared as he unleashed every bit of fire energy he had left.
The wave of energy hit Mega Blastoise and exploded , knocking the Hydro cannon off and hurling Mega Blastoise back.
"What?" Gary said.
"Seismic toss!" Ash shouted.
Charizard Y flew in as fast as he could, through the fire and snatched Mega Blastoise in his arms before soaring into the air.
"Oh no." Gary said.
Charizard Y carried Mega Blastoise almost half a mile up before doing 3 circles.
After doing the 3 circles, he and Mega Blastois's eyes met.
They stared at each other for another moment before he aimed him toward the ground and soared towards the ground.
Every moment they picked up more speed and momentum as they got closer and closer.
Ash and everyone in the stadium watched closely as they finally hit the ground and shook the entire stadium.
A massive cloud of dust formed over them.
None spoke as the dust slowly cleared.
When it cleared, Charizard Y stood over and unconscious Blastoise.
Ash felt his own heart beat as he saw this.
Charizard Y was now breathing deeply before he raised his head.
"Grauuuuu!" He roared like he never had before.
"It's over folks, it's over. Ash Ketchum has won this years Indigo league!" The announcer shouted.
"We did it, we actually won. We won the Indigo league!" Ash shouted before he ran out to Charizard Y so fast that Pikachu almost fell off his shoulder.
Charizard reverted to his normal form before he wrapped his arms around Ash.
"Grauu!" He roared again smiling.
"We actually did it." Ash said.
"He won! He won!" Bonnie shouted.
"Alright Ash!" Red shouted.
Serena didn't say anything. She just smiled with a few tears coming down her face.
"Grauu!" Charla roared.
"Our boy won." Delia said.
"Well, I suppose Ash did win. Nothing more to it." Oak said.
Leaf sighed.
Daniel smiled.
His Charizard now revealed himself behind him as they both smiled at Lance, who had a disappointed look.
"Looks like you were right Charizard. Ash won." Daniel said.
"I can't deny it. He's the best trainer here, you knew it from the beginning didn't you."
"I did, I just needed to give him the ultimate test."
"Well, I never liked you Daniel. But I'd be an idiot not to listen to you here. I'll let him into the elite 4, but there's someone else he has to prove himself against first." Lance said.
"I'll tell her then." Daniel said.
Gary dropped Blastoise's pokeball before he slowly walked over to him.
Blastoise looked up at his trainer and saw tears in his eyes.
"Well, I guess that's that." He said.
Ash and Charizard saw this and went over to them.
"Gary." Ash said.
"I was wrong. You are the better trainer, I guess it just took me this long to realize it."
"Gary, you can't give up just because of this." Ash said.
"Give up. Who the hell do you think I am. I'm going back to the KPTL. I'm gonna get more experience, then I'm going to get into the elite 4 one way or another. I'm 21 years old, I've still got time." Gary said.
Ash smiled as Gary raised his arm up.
Ash locked arms with him as they both smiled.
"We'll battle again some day. The outcome won't be the same." Gary said.
"We'll see." Ash said.
Later that night, Ash stood in the center of the Indigo stadium on place podium. He was on the middle and highest section, with Gary to his right , and Ritchie to his left.
Fireworks were going off as Daniel and Lance stepped forward.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Presenting our Third place trainer." Daniel said as he placed a silver medal on Ritchie's neck.
"Presenting the runner up." Lance said as he placed a gold medal around Gary's neck.
Daniel walked up to Ash, who was almost shaking. He had let all of his pokemon out around him to bask in the victory as well.
Daniel smiled.
"Now presenting the winner of this years Indigo League. Ash Ketchum!" Daniel shouted as he placed a platinum medal around Ash's neck.
As the crowd cheered Ash looked around with Pikachu and his other pokemon. He had finally won the Indigo league. His childhood dream, what he had wanted for so long.
He was married to the love of his life, and he might soon be on the elite 4. Everything had come together.
Moments later the crowd and Ash saw as Agatha slowly made her way over to Ash.
She smiled confidently as she stood in front of him.
Daniel handed her the microphone.
"Ash Ketchum, winner of this years Indigo league. I've been watching you for a long time now. I have also been considering retiring from the elite 4. The thing is, I need to pick a replacement." She said as Ash felt his heart beat again.
"The thing is, you may have won the Indigo league. But are you elite 4 material. I want to find out the best way how. I want you to battle me for my spot on the Kanto elite 4." Agatha said.
The audience went silent.
Ash smiled.
"I accept."
"Good, I look forward to our battle."

So Ash wins it, I'm sure many of you saw it coming, but I wanted to make it intense enough.
Like I said the battles wouldn't end here, Ash still has to prove himself against a member of the elite 4.
As for the poll, the winner is more ancestor memories. However, I will say there won't be as many in future stories.
