Ch 68: Test of the elite 4
It was late at night in the Indigo Stadium as Ash stood in the center of the battlefield with just pokemon with him.
"This is it Pikachu, just one more battle and we're in the elite 4." Ash said.
"Pika."
Ash knew the next day everything they had ever worked for would come to pass. If he won, he would be known as one of the best trainers in the world.
"Nervous." someone else said.
Ash turned to see Daniel there.
"Daniel, what are you doing here?"
"I had a feeling you'd be here Ash. I was here the night I faced my first elite 4 member 2. I was 14 years old, guess who it was."
Ash already had an idea.
"Agatha."
"Yes, she was still the mentor then. But she was also my mentor."
"Agatha was your master?"
"Why do you think she wanted to be the first elite 4 member I faced. I was pretty nervous too."
"It just seems like so much Daniel. A member of the elite 4 and the Kanto Mentor, how do I beat her?"
"By remembering she's still just a trainer like you. No one is unbeatable, if you believe you can overcome her, then it could happen." Daniel said.
Ash smiled.
"Thank you Daniel, for everything."
"Do your best out there. I want you in the elite 4."
"We're going to get in." Ash said.
"Pika!"
The next morning Ash was standing on one side of the Indigo stadium and Agatha the other.
Neither said a word, Ash just stared at her with a serious expression and she stared back with a confident one.
"This is it. If Ash wins now he's in the elite 4." Red said.
"He can do this." Serena said.
"This is it boy, time to see what you're made of" Agatha said.
"Both trainers are ready to battle. Choose your pokemon." The ref said.
Ash held up his first pokeball close to his face before throwing it forward.
"I choose you Goodra!" He shouted. Goodra came out of his pokeball standing tall and looking serious.
"Ahh a Goodra. The slimy dragon of Kalos. But even dragons fear ghosts." Agatha said as she sent out a large Mismagius.
"The first match up will be Goodra vs Mismagius folks."
"Here we go." Ash said in a serious tone.
"Goodra use Dragon pulse!" Ash shouted.
"Dra!" Goodra shouted as he unleashed a massive pulse of Dragon energy that soared through the air at Mismagius.
"Mismagius use Double team." Mismagius made a dozen copies that surrounded Goodra as the Dragon pulse tore apart the one copy.
"Shadow ball." Agatha said.
All 11 of the Mismagius unleashed a sphere of ghost energy at Goodra from different directions.
"Goodra use Outrage!"
"Dra!" Goodra roared as he unleashed a furry of dragon energy around him in every direction.
The dragon energy tore through all the ghost energy and crashed into each Mismagius, including the real one.
"Goodra follow up with Dragon pulse!"
"So you want power boy, I'll give you power. Mismagius use Phantom force.
Mismagius's eyes glowed as she unleashed a large stream of ghost energy that easily tore through the Dragon pulse and crashed into Goodra, hurling him onto his back.
Ash grit his teeth and tightened his fist as Goodra tried to get up.
"Mismagius use Astonish."
Mismagius rushed forward as Goodra got back on his feet.
"Dragon pulse!"
"Double team."
As soon as Goodra's Dragon pulse left his mouth, Mismagius surrounded him with copies as he was still using Dragon pulse.
"Phantom force!" Agatha shouted.
Three of the Mismagius who were behind Goodra unleashed their Phantom forces and hit Goodra hard in the back.
"Goodra!" Ash shouted.
Goodra crashed onto his stomach with swirly eyes.
"Goodra is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Geez, just two hits." Ash said.
"Pika." Pikachu said just as concerned.
"Goodra return. Rest Goodra."
"Well it appears the haunting will continue." Agatha said as she and her Mismagius both gave confident expressions.
"My next pokemon is darker than your ghosts. I choose you Mightyena!" Ash shouted.
Mightyena came out of her pokeball and snarled at Mismagius.
"Time to make that dog sit, Mismagius use Double team." Agatha said as her Ghost pokemon surrounded Mightyena in copies.
"Dark Pulse!" Ash shouted.
"Yena!" Mightyena shouted as she unleashed a pulse of dark energy around him that hit every Mismagius.
"Protect."
Before the dark pulse could hit her, Mismagius formed a barrier around herself.
"Crunch!" Ash shouted as Mightyena sprinted forward at Mismagius.
"Double team." Agatha said.
Just before Mightyena could hit Mismagius, she made another dozen copies of herself around Mightyena.
"Geez, her and that double team." Ash said as he tried to figure out a plan.
"Mightyena use Dark pulse!"
Once again Mightyena unleashed a pulse of dark energy around her.
The darkness destroyed all of the copies, but once again Mismagius used protect.
Ash smiled.
"Dark pulse!"
"Yena!" Mightyena shouted before she unleashed another pulse past the protect.
"A valiant effort, but no. Dazzling gleam." Mismagius unleashed a very powerful blast of fairy type attack that tore through the dark pulse and crashed right into Mightyena, dealing immense damage from the super effective move.
"Mightyena!" Ash shouted.
Mightyena hit the ground with swirly eyes.
"Mightyena is unable to battle."
Ash grit his teeth again as Pikachu gave a very concerned look.
"You're good boy, but I'm starting to see you may be out of your league." Agatha said.
"Mightyena return. Take it easy. We're not out of this yet." Ash said as he took out his next pokeball and held it up to his face.
"I choose you Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted as his massive dinosaur pokemon came out.
"Grouuu!" Tyrantrum roared.
"Size doesn't matter to a ghost. Mismagius use Phantom Force."
"Tyrantrum use Head smash!" Ash shouted.
Tyrantrum lowered his head and sprinted forward through all the ghost energy without even slowing down.
Even Agatha was impressed at his Tyrantrum didn't even flinch upon taking the attack head on.
"Impressive, but not good enough. Double team." Mismagius made a dozen copies of herself around Tyratrum.
"Drop and use Dragon tail!" Tyrantrum's tail glowed violet as he got low and swung it around in a circle, destroying all of the Mismagius copies and hurling the real one back.
"That's it, hurry Tyrantrum use Crunch!" Ash shouted.
"Mismagius use protect."
Mismagius hit the ground and tried to use protect, however, just before she could Tyrantrum reached her and snapped his massive jaws around her.
"Mismagius!" Agatha shouted. When Tyrantrum opened his jaws, Mismagius was on the ground with swirly eyes.
"Mismagius is unable to battle."
"Yes, we got one." Ash said.
"Hmp, not bad. Mismagius return. Spiritomb time to put that dino in perspective." Agatha said.
A large Spiritomb came out and gave Tyrantrum an evil smile.
"A Spiritomb. Alright no celebrating yet." Ash said.
"Spiritomb use Curse."
Spiritomb smiled as a large blade shaped shadow formed above him before it stabbed down into him as he gave an incredibly painful expression.
"Oh no." Ash said as Spiritomb smiled again. A blue ghostly energy surrounded Tyrantrum as the curse did a lot of damage to him.
"Group!" Tyrantrum cried out in pain.
"Confuse ray." Agatha said.
"Tyantrum move!" Ash shouted.
Tyrantrum tried to move, but the confuse ray hit him and made him confused.
"Pika." Pikachu said concerned.
"Rest." Agatha said as Spiritomb closed his eyes and began to regenerate his health.
"No, Tyrantrum try to focus, and use Dragon Pulse."
Ash tried to strengthen his connection to Tyrantrum to help him focus. Tyrantrum was able to take aim at Spiritomb , but it took him a minute and then the pain of the curse as well.
Ash sweat dropped nervously as Tyrantrum unleashed Dragon pulse.
"Group!" He roared.
Spiritomb's eyes opened as he moved out of the way just in time.
Ash grit his teeth.
"She doesn't even have to beat Tyrantrum. Just wait him out." Ash said nervously.
"Now to finish him off. Use Psychic."
"Tyrantrum Earthquake!" Ash shouted.
Tyrantrym smashed his feet into the ground causing a massive ground quake that shook the entire stadium and forced Spiritomb off balance.
"Head smash!" Ash shouted.
Tyrantrum sprinted forward glowing red as he smashed his head right into Spiritomb, plowing him into the ground.
"Spiritomb." Agatha said.
When Tyrantrum got up everyone in the stadium saw Spiritomb laying on his back with swirly eyes.
"Spiritomb is unable to battle."
"Alright that's two." Ash said.
Moments later the curse returned to Tyrantrum and took its final toll on Tyrantrum causing him to faint.
"Tyrantrum is also unable to battle."
Ash grit his teeth as Agatha smiled.
"Looks like even dinosaur's can't escape a dreaded curse." Agatha said.
"Tyrantrum return, you battled very well. I knew this would be tough, but this is something else. I can see how she became mentor and has been in the elite 4 all these years " Ash said as he took out his next pokemon.
"I choose you Lucario!" Ash shouted as Lucario came out and took an aggressive stance.
"Lucario? Why would he use a fighting type?" Shauna asked.
"Lucario knows more than fighting moves." Korrina said.
"Not to mention he's one of Ash's best pokemon." Serena said.
"Spiritomb return. A fighting type, how interesting. You're bold boy, I'll give you that." Agatha said as she took out her next pokeball.
"Go Trevenant." Agatha said as the large Ghost tree came out.
"Trevenant." Ash said nervously, knowing first hand how dangerous a Trevenant could be.
"Don't get intimidated by him Lucario." Ash said.
"Grouu!" Lucario growled.
"You should be scared. Trevenant use Phantom force." Trevenant's eyes glowed violet as he unleashed a pulse of ghost energy right at Lucario with pin point accuracy.
"Lucario dodge it!" Ash shouted.
Lucario used his incredible speed and agility to avoid the incoming Phantom force.
"Phantom force again!" Agatha shouted as Trevenant charged forward with surprising speed and unleashed another Phantom force.
"Lucario dodge it!" Ash shouted. As soon as Lucario hit the ground again, he narrowly avoided the incoming Phantom force. Unfortunately Trevenant was now right on top of him.
"Again." Agatha said smiling.
"Trev!" Trevenant shouted as he unleashed a powerful pulse of ghost energy with great accuracy right into Lucario's chest.
"Hold on Lucario!" Ash shouted as Lucario got up.
"Shadow claw!".
"Lucario move!" Ash shouted.
Lucario quickly dodged and evaded each of Trevenant's surprisingly fast and accurate strikes.
Ash wanted to counter attack, but Trevenant was moving too fast and since he was a ghost Lucario's options were limited.
"Phantom force!" Agatha shouted.
Lucario was too close to Trevenant and the Phantom force hit him , dead in the center of his chest again.
"Grou!" Lucario grunted as he stumbled backwards.
"Shadow claw!" Agatha shouted.
Trevenant crashed his claws across Lucario's face repeatedly.
"Lucario!" Ash shouted.
He could feel how powerful Trevenant was just by his connection to Lucario.
"Lucario use foresight!" Ash shouted.
Lucario's eyes glowed blue as he found Trevenant's true form with his aura.
As Trevenant came in for another strike, Lucario hurled his left forearm and was able to block Trevenant's strike.
"Power-up-punch!"
With his free hand, Lucaro hurled it forward as it glowed red. Lucario then smashed his free paw into Trevenant's face.
Trevenant stumbled backwards as Lucario rushed forward.
"Power up Punch!" Ash shouted.
Lucario's other hand glowed red before he crashed it into Trevenant's face again.
"Swords dance!" Ash shouted as Lucario got in an aggressive stance as he glowed blue.
"Close combat!" Ash shouted.
Just as Trevenant tried to regain himself, Lucario leapt up into him before crashing his paws relentlessly across his face.
Once Lucario finished he landed on his feet as and saw Trevenant with swirly eyes before the ghost tree fell backwards.
"Trevenant is unable to continue."
"Alright Lucario!" Ash shouted before he felt all the damage he took from the battle catch up with him as he fell backwards and hit the ground with swirly eyes.
"Lucario is unable to battle."
Ash grit his teeth as he saw Agatha smile.
"Hm, it looks like your Lucario can't withstand a ghost."
"Lucario return. You gave it your all Lucario." Ash said as he took out his next pokeball.
"I do warn you Ash, my next 3 pokemon are my most powerful 3. I hope your last 2 pokemon are up to the challenge. " Agatha said as she hurled her next pokeball forward and a very large Dusknoir came out.
The Dusknoir gave Ash a very creepy expression.
Ash held his pokeball up before hurling it forward.
Charizard came out and roared.
Agatha raised en eyebrow.
"I had a feeling you'd bring that Charizard out eventually. Now this is getting interesting. Dusknoir use Gravity!"
Dusknoir raised his hands up as he increased the intensity of the gravity in the field.
Charizard felt the increased pressure and felt it harder to fly up.
"Now use Shadow ball."
Dusknoir raised his arms and formed a large sphere of ghost energy. The sphere broke into dozens of smaller shadow balls that flew at Charizard.
With the Gravity, Ash knew Charizard would have trouble evading the incoming attacks. Instead he decided to overpower them.
"Charizard Flamethrower!" Ash shouted.
Charizard's tail flame grew larger as he roared, unleashing a massive jet of fire that burned up all of the incoming Shadow balls.
Dusknoir didn't let up as he slowly moved closer.
Ash wanted to have Charizard move, but as soon as he did he would likely be exposed and get hit.
Eventually Dusknoir got close enough and sparked his right fist with electricity.
"Thunder punch." Agatha said as Dusknoir slammed his electric fist into Charizard's stomach.
Ash tightened his fist as Charizard took a step or two back.
"Again." Agatha said.
Dusknoir raised his other fist as Charizard regained his footing.
"Charizard Air slash!" Ash shouted.
Charizard snarled as he kicked off the ground, despite the harsh gravity, and slashed his claws and wings across Dusknoir's body.
Dusknoir cringed but turned to face Charizard's back.
"Shadow ball!" Agatha shouted as Dusknoir unleashed another furry of Shadow balls at Charizard from behind.
"Flamethrower!" Ash shouted.
Using his wings, Charizard made a sharp turn and blasted the shadow balls again with fire.
The fire burned up the shadow balls and Charizard aimed it down at an angle.
"Get up!" Ash shouted.
Charizard kicked up and violently flapped his wings as the force of the flamethrower propelled him up, against the intensified gravity.
Dusknoir aimed his shadow balls up at Charizard, who continued to burn them away.
"Air slash!"
Charizard then flew down at Dusknoir , continuing to burn away the shadow balls.
"Dodge it!" Agatha shouted.
Dusknoir tried to move fast enough, but now his own gravity was working against him. The extra force brought Charizard down even faster and allowed Charizard to slash Dusknoir across the body before landing close behind him.
"Don't let him make a fool out of you Dusknoir . Thunder punch!"
Dusknoir turned around and faced Charizard with his fist sparked.
"Dragon pulse!"
Charizard turned just in time open his mouth and unleash a massive pulse of Dragon energy that crashed into Dusknoir's chest and hurled him back into the ground.
"Dusknoir is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Great work Charizard." Ash said.
Agatha raised her eyebrow again.
"I suppose I should have expected no less from your Charizard. But I still have to pokemon left, which means you still have 2 more pokemon to beat before you can enter the elite 4." Agatha said as she took out her 4th Pokeball.
"Go Gengar." Agatha said as a large Gengar came out and gave an evil smile at Charizard.
That is when Charizard felt the extra gravity go away.
He smiled as he flew up easily and roared.
"Charizard can't run. Use Mean look."
Gengar's eyes glowed red as he stared at Charizard and made it impossible for him to escape.
"We weren't planning on running anyway. Charizard use Flamethrower!" Ash shouted.
"Dark Pulse."
Gengar unleashed a pulse of darkness around him that impacted the fire. The darkness ignited and surrounded Gengar, but kept him safe.
"Air slash!" Ash shouted.
Charizard flew in fast as Gengar stayed where he was.
"Night Shade."
Just before Charizard could reach him, Gengar's eyes glowed violet as he unleashed a powerful wave of ghost energy that forced Charizard onto the ground and away from him.
Ash and Pikachu gave frustrated looks as Agatha smiled.
"Charizard Air slash!"
Charizard felt invigorated by his own fire and quickly caught himself with his claws before propelling himself forward and slashing across Gengar's back.
"We got him!" Ash shouted.
"Hmp, not bad. Gengar use Hypnosis." Agatha said.
"Charizard close your eyes." Ash said as Charizard closed his eyes and avoided the Hypnosis.
"Now Fly down in the pattern I'm describing." Ash said as he gave Charizard directions via aura.
Charizard flew down as the Hypnosis continued to move harmlessly past him.
"Night shade."
Charizard opened his mouth and unleashed a powerful blast of fire and re-angled his wings flying up above the rest of the night shade.
Agatha smiled.
"Dark pulse." Just as Charizard came back in, he was hit by the darkness and forced back.
"Follow up with night shade."
"Dragon pulse!"
Charizard held up his wings to halt himself before opening his mouth and unleashing a massive pulse of Dragon energy that tore through the Night shade and hurled Gengar back.
Still, despite this, Gengar slowly got up.
"Let's finish this. Charizard use Blast burn."
Charizard's tail flame exploded in size as he formed the explosive force in his mouth.
" Grauuuu!" Charizard roared as he unleashed his own attack.
Agatha smiled as Gengar turned to her and nodded.
"Destiny bond."
Gengar's eyes glowed red just before the Blast burn hit Gengar and exploded.
When the smoke cleared, Gengar was unconscious, but a ghostly energy surrounded Charizard.
"Grauu!" Charizard roared in pain before the destiny bond knocked him out as well.
"Charizard and Gengar are unable to battle."
"Well done Gengar. Now Ash, your most powerful pokemon is out of the match." Agatha said as she returned Gengar.
"Charizard return. You were awesome Charizard. I've still got my starter pokemon. My oldest friend and closest partner." Ash said as Pikachu leapt down from his shoulder and sparked his cheeks.
Agatha smiled.
"Ah yes, your Pikachu. Arthur told me how he was able to break through Mewtwo X's defenses. I've been hoping you'd send him out. Unfortunately I have also saved my most powerful pokemon for last. My first and oldest pokemon." Agatha said as she hurled a very old looking Pokeball forward.
Ash and Pikachu's eyes widened as they saw yet another Gengar, this one was a female and was even larger than her last one.
"Gar." She said with an even more evil expression.
"Another Gengar?" Ash said.
"She was my first, the one you just fought is her lover. She's my most powerful pokemon, and unfortunately for you, I need to make sure you're truly worthy of my position." Agatha said.
Ash then saw her roll up her right sleeve , revealing her hidden blade bracer.
His eyes widened.
"No." He said as Agatha smiled and she touched her mega evolution stone.
Agatha's Gengar's Gengarite that she wore in a bracelet around her wrist began to glow before a colorful sphere formed around Gengar before she fully transformed into Mega Gengar.
"Gar!" She shouted.
"Pika." Pikachu said nervously sweat dropping.
"We have to fight the mentor's Mega Gengar. Plus since she's her first pokemon, doesn't that make her the pokemon mentor." Ash said.
"Give us your best shot." Agatha said.
"We can't let this stop us Pikachu. We faced Mewtwo X, we can face her."
"Pika!"
"Gengar show these youngsters how we battle. Shadow ball!"
"Pikachu dodge and use Electroball!" Ash shouted.
Mega Gengar formed a massive ball of ghost energy in front of her mouth and in his arms before she hurled it at Pikachu.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted as he used his lighting speed and agility to avoid the incoming Shadow ball. However, the shadow ball was so large and powerful that when it hit the ground , it created a shock wave that knocked Pikachu off balance.
"Pika!" He shouted in surprise as he tried to unleash Electroball. Because of this, he missed Mega Gengar.
"Excellent. Confuse ray Gengar."
Mega Gengar's eyes glowed red as she unleashed a massive wave of ghost energy.
"Pikachu eyes shut. Listen to my directions." Ash said.
Pikachu closed his eyes and avoided being effected by the Confuse ray.
"Now move forward quickly, but not in a linear path." Ash said via aura.
Pikachu did as Ash said and sprinted forward.
"Dark Pulse."
Mega Gengar hurled her arms forward and unleashed a massive pulse of dark energy.
"Jump Pikachu."
Pikachu leapt up incredibly high, but only narrowly avoided the top of the Dark Pulse.
"Shadow ball."
Mega Gengar formed another massive shadow ball that then burst into dozens of smaller Shadow balls.
Mega Gengar unleashed them like a machine gun , spraying them around the field at Pikachu.
Ash gave quick instructions to Pikachu, who followed them to the letter. This allowed him to avoid every one of them.
"Thunder!" Ash shouted.
"Dark Pulse."
Just before Pikachu landed and charged up his electricity, Mega Gengar unleashed another massive pulse of dark energy that crashed into Pikachu and hurled him back.
Ash grit his teeth and tightened his fist.
Pikachu couldn't' believe how powerful Mega Gengar was. Gary's pokemon's ground attacks felt less painful, and he was weak to them.
Still, despite this he landed on his feet and faced Mega Gengar.
"Gengar use Smog."
Mega Gengar opened her mouth before unleashing a thick cloud of poison gas around the battlefield.
"Pikachu move to clean areas." Ash said.
Pikachu used Agility to sprint across the battlefield narrowly avoiding being poisoned.
"Don't let him breath."
Mega Gengar formed a massive shadow ball in her arms before bursting it into dozens of smaller shadow balls, before hurling them at Pikachu, aiming at clean areas.
Ash tried to figure a way out, but then had an idea.
"Pikachu Thunder!"
As soon as Pikachu landed he aimed at Mega Gengar.
"Pika , chu!" Pikachu shouted as he unleashed a massive bolt of electricity that tore through 3 of the incoming shadow balls and crashed into Mega Gengar.
"Gar!" Mega Gengar shouted out. She had not expected the attack to be so powerful.
"Hm, not bad. But you can't stop us. Gengar use Confuse ray."
Mega Gengar's eyes glowed red as she unleashed ghost energy.
"Close your eyes again Pikachu." Ash said.
Pikachu closed his eyes and waited for Ash's instructions.
"Gengar use Dark Pulse."
Mega Gengar unleashed another wave of dark energy around the battlefield.
"Pikachu dodge it." Ash shouted as he gave some instructions.
Pikachu narrowly avoided the incoming attack before Mega Gengar sped across the battlefield surprisingly fast.
"Shadow ball!"
Mega Gengar unleashed another furry of Shadow balls before Pikachu did his best to avoid them with his eyes closed.
Mega Gengar locked onto Pikachu as he leapt up into the air.
Mega Gengar then unleashed a massive Shadow ball that crashed into Pikachu just before he hit the ground.
"Hold on Pikachu." Ash said.
Pikachu grit his teeth as he tried to endure the attack.
"Thunder!" Ash shouted.
As soon as Pikachu hit the ground he sparked his cheeks.
"Chu!" He shouted as he unleashed a massive bolt of thunder that tore through all of the incoming Shadow balls and crashed into Mega Gengar.
"Gar!" Mega Gengar cried out again.
"He did it again." Agatha said showing some real concern this time.
"No more. Shadow claw."
Mega Gengar rushed forward with her claws up and began furiously slashing at Pikachu.
"Pikachu use Agility!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu had to close his eyes again to avoid being affected by the Confuse ray, and did his best to avoid the lighting fast strikes.
"Keep it up Pikachu." Ash said as he stared intensely at them.
"How fast is that little Pikachu, Dark pulse!" Agatha shouted as Pikachu was still in the air.
"Gar!" Mega Gengar shouted as she unleashed a pulse right in front of Pikachu that hurled him up and back.
"Now I've got you. Shadow claw."
"Gar!" Mega Gengar shouted as she slashed him across the face.
"PIkachu!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu landed across the battlefield and tried to get up.
"Come on PIkachu." Serena said as she watched intensely.
"Get up." Red said.
"Pika." Pikachu said feeling nearly more pain than he had ever felt before.
Agatha's Gengar was almost on par with Mewtwo X.
His vision began to get blurry as he got a few inches off the ground before he collapsed back on his stomach.
"Pikachu." Ash said in a soft tone.
"No." Serena said.
"He actually lost." Brock said.
"Aww Ash." Gary said.
Red, Korrina, and the others said nothing.
"Hmp, you put up a good fight boy." Agatha said.
Lance stared at Daniel.
"He failed."
Daniel said nothing, he just stared at Ash.
"Pikachu is unable to battle." The ref started.
Ash said nothing , he just closed his eyes.
"Never give up, never give up until the end." Pikachu heard, but it wasn't Ash's voice alone. It sounded like 3 voices, Ash's and 2 others. It was then he realized who they were.
Pikachu felt his bond with Ash give him strength. Like it did when he faced Mewtwo X.
"The winner is." The ref started.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.
"What?" Agatha said.
The ref and everyone else saw Pikachu back up in an aggressive stance.
Daniel smiled.
"That's it." He said.
"Folks it's like some kind of movie here, he's back up."
"Finish him! Use Shadow ball!"
Mega Gengar gave a very serious expression before she formed a Shadow ball in her arms larger than any she ever conjured.
Ash took a deep breath before his eyes glowed blue and Pikachu's did the same.
"Volt Tackle!" He shouted when Agatha heard the 3 voices as well.
"What the?"
Pikachu glowed blue with electricity as it formed around him.
"Pika! Chu!" He roared as he sprinted forward.
"Gar!" Mega Gengar shouted as she unleashed the massive Shadow ball.
Pikachu made no attempt to avoid it. He simply kept running and smashed through it like it was nothing.
Agatha and Mega Gengar's mouths dropped.
"No! Use Shadow Claw!" She shouted as Mega Gengar desperately raised her arms.
"Chu!" Pikachu shouted as he made contact, smashing into Mega Gengar and unleashing all his electricity.
"Gar!" Mega Gengar screamed in pain. She had never felt such power in a single attack before.
Agatha could feel Mega Gengar's pain before there was an explosion around them both.
Everyone watched closely as the smoke began to clear.
When it cleared both Pikachu and Mega Gengar were standing there covered in burn marks and bruises.
They were also both breathing deeply.
"They're both still up." Ash said. He felt Pikachu had used up everything he had left in his last attack. He couldn't make another move.
"End this, Shadow claw."
Mega Gengar's claws glowed as she raised them in the air.
"No." Serena said.
Pikachu closed his eyes , even after what he had just done it wasn't enough. How, why?
That is when he realized Mega Gengar hadn't hit him yet. He looked up and saw Mega Gengar's claws stop glowing. She reverted back to her normal form before falling onto her back with swirly eyes.
"Gengar!" Agatha shouted.
"Gengar is unable to battle. The winner is Ash Ketchum." The ref said.
Ash and Agatha didn't move for almost a minute before Ash smiled and sprinted over to Pikachu who was about to collapse.
Ash scooped Pikachu up in his arms and held him close to his head.
"We did it, we won. We beat Agatha!"
"Pika." Pikachu said sounding very happy, but very tired.
"He actually did it! He actually won!" Serena shouted.
Agatha smiled before she walked over to her Gengar and helped lift her up.
"Well, it looks like we've been beaten old girl. It was about time." Agatha said.
"it's over folks, trainer Ash Ketchum has defeated Agatha of the elite 4!" The announcer shouted.
"Robb I seem to have wet my pants." The other announcer said.
Daniel smiled again.
"It was quite a match." Lance said.
"I knew he had it in him." Daniel said.
"Looks like I have a new elite 4 member to swear in." Lance said.
"I'll be there for that."
Felix smiled as Oak did the same.
"I still can't believe this. That boy of yours has defeated Agatha. Now he's in the elite 4."
Felix didn't say anything, he just smiled.
Agatha returned her Gengar before she walked over to Ash.
"Well done Ketchum, you remind me too much of your father, and your grandfather. You're just as handsome as Arthur was at your age."
Ash and Pikachu got a little creeped out.
"Uh thanks Mentor." Ash said.
She gave a mischievous smile.
"Don't be like that, I was almost your grandmother before that tramp Susan came alone and stole him from me." Agatha said as Ash and Pikachu sweat dropped.
"But enough of that. You performed very well young guardian, I think you and your pokemon will be excellent replacements in the elite 4."
"Thank you mentor." Ash said.
"He did it Red, he's in the elite 4." Korrina said before she saw Red give Ash a very interesting smile.
"Red?" She asked.
Red didn't say anything.
Later that night, Ash was inside a large ball room in the main pokemon league building.
A massive crowd of people had gathered around, including Ash's friends and family.
Ash stood with Lance, Daniel, Bruno, Agatha, and Koga.
"This is it, Ash is about to become a member of the elite 4." Oak said.
"Oh I'm so proud of him." Delia said.
Paul was also there as well standing next to Felix.
"So when are we leaving for Jhoto?" He asked.
" Tomorrow morning early, we're going to find that boy." Felix said.
"For Kal." Paul said.
Serena gave Ash a very proud expression as a few tears of joy came down her face.
Korrina then noticed Red wasn't beside her.
"Hey , where's Red?" She asked.
Agatha stood in front of Ash and Pikachu.
"As of this moment, I officially retire from the Pokemon league." Agatha said.
Lance stepped up.
"Ash Ketchum, as Champion of the Indigo league elite 4. I hereby appoint you to be the 4th member of the elite 4 to replace Agatha." Lance said as he handed Ash his official elite 4 badge in one hand and then shook his hand with the other.
The crowd began to clap and cheer.
Ash then stared at the badge with Pikachu for almost a minute. They couldn't believe that this was actually happening. All of their hard work had finally paid off. They had made it into the elite 4, everything was coming together.
He still had his whole life ahead of him with Serena and his pokemon, and now he was in the elite 4 too. Where would this lead him next.
That is when Ash also noticed Red wasn't with his family.
"Huh? Where's Red?"
"You know Ash, it's customary new members of the elite 4 face a worthy trainer not long after they get in to show people what they're made of." Koga said.
"I think he already faced a worthy trainer." Daniel said.
"He wasn't in the elite 4 then." Bruno said.
"Hello friends. I'm your savior , I found a great trainer for Ash to face." Will said as he walked up.
"Who?" Ash asked.
"He's about your age, apparently he won the Kalos league a few years ago and wants to show his face again." Will said before he moved to the side.
Ash and Pikachu didn't believe who they saw standing there.
Korrina also couldn't believe who it was.
Ash then smiled.
"So you want to battle the newest member of the elite 4." Ash said.
"Bring it on little bro."

Well it only took one day, but the poll results are in,
You guys really don't want me straying outside this story arc do you.
It was almost unanimous but the next story will be the third of this arc.
Now I just need to decide if it will still be in Hoenn or somewhere else,
I put up a new poll for where it will take place,
As for the final battle, it only seemed fitting that those to battle again.
