Tuesday 13th January:
Aaron Kim's POV:
Aaron was surprised that he wasn't more upset over his break-up with Avalon. He knew it was coming. Their relationship was getting a bit... boring if he was being honest. He just hoped Avalon and himself could still be friends.
Aaron had decided straight after leaving Valery's apartment that he was going to stand up to his father. Aaron thought that his only reason for staying in Lima was Avalon, but there were other people he couldn't bare to be away from; Austen, Blake and Tayla to name just a few.
Luckily, Aaron's father was flying in for a convention today. Aaron asked to meet with him at the airport.
Aaron arrived outside the airport and climbed out of his car. He spotted his father, Kim, standing outside the entrance. Aaron walked up to him and held up a hand before his father could say anything.
"I'm staying in Lima. I'm finishing my next two years of school here. I'm going to college here. And then when I'm good and ready, I'll come to Korea to work for the family hospital. I don't care if you disapprove. It's my life and you can't dictate what I do." Aaron announced with as much confidence as he could muster.
Kim cleared his throat and nodded his head slightly, 'Fine.'
Aaron looked up at him, a surprised expression on his face, 'What?'
"You can stay here. I see now that I have raised you correctly, and you're more of a man than I ever was at your age."
"Really? Thank you!" Aaron said, wrapping his arms around his father.
Reluctantly, Kim returned Aaron's hug and Aaron enjoyed his first hug with his father in eleven years.
Charlotte Hudson's POV:
Charlotte leaned into Jonas' side, her hair wiping around her from the wind.
"Penny for your thoughts," Jonas said.
"I'm just thinking about how lucky I am to have you." Charlotte lied.
Not that she wasn't happy with Jonas, she was. It's just that Lyssa had occupied most of her thoughts for the past few days.
Happy with her answer, Jonas smiled and wrapped his arm around Charlotte's shoulder.
Charlotte sighed and sat up straight so that she could look directly at Jonas.
"I think we should break up."
Jonas furrowed his eyebrows, 'Why?'
Charlotte shrugged, 'Lyssa...'
Jonas focused on the floor, 'Do you like me?'
Charlotte blushed, 'Yes...'
"Well, then we shouldn't break up. Lyssa will get over it soon. She has half of the school drooling over her."
Charlotte smirked, 'How is it you always know what to say?'
"Some might say I'm a genius," Jonas smiled.
Charlotte scrunched up her nose, 'Nah, I don't think that's it.'
Jonas stuck his tongue out at her and Charlotte returned to cuddling into Jonas' side.
Valery Crane's POV:
Valery took the paper bag from her backpack and unwrapped it. She removed the bread from inside and began breaking it up into small, bite-sized pieces. Valery threw the bread into the pond and watched as the ducks swam to eat them. She was about to throw the last few pieces in when she noticed two ducklings tangled in some water-weeds at the edge of the pond.
Valery rushed over and quickly untangled them. They quacked in appreciation and Valery smiled. She fed them the last of the bread and returned to her bench under the big oak tree. She put her head-phones in and closed her eyes. A few seconds later, she felt something tugging at her jeans. She looked down and smiled when she saw that the two ducklings had followed her.
"I don't have anything!" Valery laughed, holding her hands up, 'Go back to your families you greedy fluff-balls.'
The ducklings quacked and waddled back to the pond.
"Finding company in animals now, are we?"
Valery looked up and jumped to her feet when she saw Kylie standing a few feet in front of her.
"I...uh..." Valery stuttered.
"I'm just messing with you," Kylie chuckled.
Valery smiled and sat back down on the bench. Kylie joined her.
"I'm sorry about the last time we met..." Valery said after a while.
Kylie shook her head, 'Don't be. You had every right to act how you did.'
Valery nodded slowly.
"I... I'd really like for us to start seeing each-other again, Val."
Valery's head snapped up, 'What?'
"Just as friends at first! But... if your feelings for me return..." Kylie trailed off.
Valery stared down at the floor, 'Sure... Okay.'
Kylie smiled, 'Great! I'll call you. I have to get back to work now.'
Valery nodded and gave her ex-girlfriend a half-hearted hug.
Tayla Mallory's POV:
"Are you sure you're ready for this?" Tayla asked Avalon.
Avalon nodded, 'It feels like ages since I've been in this uniform.'
Avalon ran a hand down her familiar Cheerios uniform. Tayla glanced at McKenna in the back-seat. All three of them were donning their Cheerios uniforms. After Avalon had a word with Coach Roz, Tayla was offered to return to the squad.
"Remember what I told you," Tayla said, 'Hands on your hips, heads high and narrow your eyes. We need to look fierce.'
Avalon and McKenna nodded and the girls climbed out of the car and headed towards the school. Tayla stopped briefly before pushing open the doors to the school. She put her hands on her hips, raised her head and narrowed her eyes.
All eyes were on the three girls. The sea of students parted for them and all eyes were trained on them. Tayla felt powerful. She felt like herself, Avalon and McKenna were some kind of holiness... like a holy trinity or something.
Sibyl Turner's POV:
Sibyl narrowed her eyes at Tayla, Avalon and the new girl as they marched past her. She turned to her friends; Conor Fitzroy, Noel Daring, Mira Magana, Eloise Summers, Riley Slater and Ava Flores.
"Look at them! They think they're royalty. Everyone here is basically kissing their feet, and we don't get so much as a second glance."
Noel clutched Sibyl's hand and smiled. She calmed down and turned to look at the three Cheerios again.
"Things are going to change around here."
