The color scheme of the evening was as simple as it was elegant, men were in black and the woman were in light colors such as a soft tone of pink or the simple ghostly white. Both Eve Torres and Mike Mizanin seemed to match the dress code perfectly.
The tone that Mike was setting showed clearly that Mike wasn't familiar with these type of things. "What's the whole 'Mask thing' for anyways? I feel corny."
Eve smirked his way as she poured them both a glass of champagne. "I'm not sure actually but I've always wondered… Ooh, maybe we could Google search it back at home."
"One of those famous smirks spread across his mouth at her comment, he sipped some champagne and nodded along.
"Thank you again for coming, I needed you big time… we've been here an hour or so and we've schmoozed enough people…we'll be able to leave really shortly."
"So Eve, let me get this straight… you've been stressing about this thing for months on in and it comes and all you've done is schmooze a bunch of old ass high-end people and that's it? We're done. We go home?"
"Well yes, but because of you I didn't have to deal with old ass high-end people hooking me up with their sons." Eve smiled while simultaneously poking at his chest. The chiseled man looked down at her finger and then back up at her with one of those soft, settle smirks.
"Yeah, I don't know that sounds pretty boring to me."
The brunette smiled at his smirk then shrugged softly and cutely, "That's because it is, but whatever to make my mom happy."
The pair talked for another half an hour about random things. Those two could talk about anything, anywhere, at any time of the day and it just be a natural thing. Approximately half a dozen relatives would come over to chit chat for a minute and then find other people to soak up old memories too or indicate how young and small the young adults were when they last saw them even though it was just a year ago and they were still around the same height and around the same age.
It didn't take long for them to hear a thick French accent join into the mix. Both Mike and his date, Eve turned their head to see Maryse standing there; she wore a long, beautiful black gown that touched the floor. Her blonde hair was tamed into a big round bun that was placed on the top of her head wrapped around with a black sparkly inch long tie. The woman's stature was intimidating, arms were crossed and her foot was tapping repeatedly on the polished ball room floor, you could hear the tapping even over the loud music surrounding them.
Oh yes, Maryse was intimidating but Eve Torres met her match, as a way of mocking she crossed her arms and tapped her foot just as so; this was amusing to Mike but not even close to amusing to Maryse and her date, whoever her date even was.
"Mike what are you even doing here? You said things like this ruined your cred; whatever that meant and I accepted that because I am a damn good girlfriend. I cared for you, I took care of you, and I even paid attention to your emotions… Now this little tramp drags you here against your will but she's the good guy? I never win."
The gentlemen let out a laugh before even thought about responding; "You paid attention to my emotions? You didn't even talk to me…besides we weren't even dating you said labels were for the unavailable; which by the way was fine with me because I had other girls in my back pocket too."
"Like this tramp." Maryse pointed at the woman across from them, returning her arms back to a crossed formation.
"Okay hold up, you have stood there for approximately 45 seconds and you've called me a tramp twice and I'm yet to figure out what I actually did to you besides be seen with your little obsession over here." The brunette scowled, signaling with her head that she was indicating Mike.
With an inability to answer the question Maryse sighed in an annoyed fashion, the four people just stared at each other for a few seconds waiting for someone to comment, but no one did.
Eve laughed softly at that and nodded along, finding an opportunity to change the subject Eve turned to Mike with a small smile and asked him to dance, he nodded leaving Maryse in the dust to banter to herself about how unfair life is.
The two settled on the dance floor, the music was soft just like everything else they were playing; Eve's arms were wrapped loosely around her dance partner's neck while her brunette waves were flowing off of her left shoulder blade. Meanwhile Mike's arms were wrapped around her waist diligently. Their faces were the perfect length apart, she could lay her head on his shoulder with no problem but they could also look up at one another with the perfect length of space between them – not too far but not too close.
"I'm sorry that she's everywhere… I know it probably gets on your nerves a little more than you let on."
"Well sure I might not want to see her face everywhere I look but what are you going to do, people have crazy exes… she's just yours. I understand, I promise." The brunette smiled, looking up at him before laying her head on his shoulder as they swayed.
There they were; the feelings that swarmed over Mike at random times when he was around her. Normally he would pull away in an effort to shake it off but damn it he didn't want to shake it off… He realized it was weird because this was supposedly Punk's girl and if he told her his feelings and it didn't work out then that was it… the foursome was all over. No More Maria/Mike/Eve/Phil hang outs, no more movie nights or club scenes or boxing ppv nights.. It was it, the foursome was finished, departed, gone. At this moment Mike didn't care though, he continued to sway with her through the next few songs in just an equal, comfortable silence.
At Covington the atmosphere was a little different; John Cena was throwing the party of the year like he always does around this time. The music was loud, the beer was loaded, and the crowd was wiled. John Cena had his way with the cash, each year he rented out the auditorium for this special party and no one would dare miss it.
Barbie Blank was usually the life of the party; she would either be mingling, dancing, even doing a few keg stands but this year she was sat at the bar drinking away. The perfect beauty just wasn't in the mood for any partying at the moment she would rather just drink her martinis with a smile on her face and observe her classmates dancing the night away.
The blonde looked at the seat to her right then at the seat to her left, causing her to let out a heavy sigh. Barbie's partners in crime Maryse Ouellette and Maria Kanellis weren't around this evening, Maryse was out at this ball because she was convinced that she was a queen and needed to go to things with royalty and Maria was well…Barbie didn't quite know where Maria was, how strange. Instead of her two best friends on her right sat one guy who went by the name Ambrose, Barbie didn't know too much about him besides the fact that his air was usually wet and that he was a high classified drug dealer – gross. On her left side wasn't anything prettier, it was a guy who went by the name of Brock, he was this gigantic body builder with very little eyebrows… he obviously didn't know about eyebrow tinting.
Barbie sighed and put down her empty glass and brought herself back into the scene, her blue eyes scanned the room at all her class mates to see what was what. Randy and Brie were beside one of the kegs talking, of course – oh wait! That's not Brie; it couldn't be… this girl's front was too stacked for it to be Brie Barbie thought to herself. The blonde looked a few feet to the right and saw Brie standing by herself watching them, there's two of them she thought.
The woman shook it off and looked around a little more, a minute later she saw her ex Phil Brooks glued to his cell phone near one of the speakers and next to him was Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater holding up Tyson Kidd while he was doing a keg stand – strange sight. Suddenly she found herself at a halt when Dolph Ziggler came into her viewpoint; Barbie hadn't seen Dolph since the incident involving her spilling the beans about AJ. Billions of questions flooded the woman's mind in that one moment, should I talk to him? Should I leave him alone? Should I just give him a simple wave? Should I just turn around and pretend like I didn't see him here? I don't know!
Unfortunately for Barbie he didn't really get the chance to make any decisions, Dolph had spotted her. She felt as if she was a hunter's prey, held at gunpoint – now she had to confront him, but how?
"Hey Dolph… Enjoying the party?"
Dolph's eyebrow was raised in an annoyed matter as Barbie made her way over to him.
"Um yeah, I'm having a great time."
"That's good."
"It is."
The blonde bit her glossed lip and sighed, he wasn't really following the social protocol of conversation which made this even more uncomfortable, if that was possible.
"So, how's AJ doing?"
"I don't really know, she's not answering any of my calls. Thanks for that."
"She's acting like a child, so what I spilled the beans it doesn't mean she has to ignore you like a little girl."
"Are you really one to talk about someone acting like a child?" Dolph snarled while taking a sip of his drink.
Barbie looked up shocked at his comment, she's never heard Dolph speak to her like that before… all she's really heard was compliments and worshipping comments – she liked it better that way.
"Well no…I guess not." Barbie sighed while simultaneously crossing her arms. "But to be fair your friend was and has been talking a lot of shit about me so I'm not completely the bad guy here!"
"I know you're not…" The chiseled man spoke through the paper cup he was sipping on.
For a little while the atmosphere between just the two of them was silent, neither of them knew what to say or how to say it. Their brains were scattering in their heads trying to conduct a few sentences before a conversation came back to place. The first half of the silence was spent looking at their shoes while the second half was spent with their blue eyes looking into the others.
Finally, the silent streak was broken "I'm still really sorry though, I don't know if I made that too clear… I shouldn't have messed with your friendship it wasn't right."
"Don't apologize for that…In a way I guess she had it coming to her."
At that comment Barbie giggled, it was the first time this whole party that a smile that was plastered on her face was genuinely real. "Okay well…good."
"I'll see you around then, Barb."
"Yes you will, Zig."
Maria was currently ditching the biggest party of the year to handle some unfinished business. The redhead needed to get her skanky roommate Eve out of here, now! Dozens of Eve's books, magazines, clothes, pictures, makeup, and miscellaneous items were getting stuffed into brown cardboard boxes and then getting thrown outside into the hallway.
Eve's bed and closet were stripped down just like their friendship. How dare Phillip like her ex best friend and not her it was ridiculous.
Maria let out a relieved smile when she looked across the room to see a bare room while her side of the room was in tip top shape. The Latina walked over to her laundry basket and picked it up with a smile.
"It's time to do some laundry." Maria smirked while walking out of her bedroom
