A/N- Hey, guys! Um... so it's been a while... And I'm really sorry about that! I know that some of you were concerned that I had abandoned this story, but I haven't. I got really caught up in school and couldn't update whether I wanted to or not. Anyways, I now have a lot of freetime since it's the Summer, so I will really try to update faster.

I hope you guys like it :)

Klaus felt the corners of his lips widen when he heard Caroline repeatedly scream his name down the dark corridor. He could hear her voice and her rapid footsteps echo behind him, not that he was surprised in the least bit.

"Is there something I can do for you, sweetheart?"

Caroline finally stopped to catch her breath after she was able to walk alongside the Mikaelson. "Oh, I will tell you what you can do for me, Mister!" Caroline inhaled another deep breath before grasping Klaus's forearm and forcing him to look her in the eye. "How about this thing called manners where when someone tells you to stop, you stop! You do not ignore them and make them run after you in designer high heel shoes!" Caroline froze when she realized who she just scolded for ruining her expensive footwear.

She felt his icy blue eyes bore into her own, imagining that the feeling she felt right now was what all his victims felt right before he killed them. Curse her mouth for having a mind of its own.

Klaus cocked his head to the side. "Who are you to take up such an insolent tone with me?"

Caroline felt her heart begin to pound against her chest as her palms began to sweat. She stood tall, meeting Klaus's cold stare with her own.

Klaus raised a brow, fully expecting to see the blonde fall to her knees begging for her life or resorting to trickery through the use of female persuasion. However, here was a human girl matching his intense stare, or dare he even think it, surpassing it.

"You're cheeky, Miss Forbes," Klaus stated, "fortunately for you, I appreciate boldness and anyone who has an appreciation for fine manners."

Caroline halted, furrowing her brows. "I'm sorry, 'fortunately' for me? Seriously? Are you trying to threaten, insult, or be nice to me?"

"I don't know, Miss Forbes, but perhaps it is you who needs to make up your mind." Klaus responded without turning back or stopping his footwork.

"Excuse me?" Caroline caught up with him. "What the hell are you talking about?"

"I'm referring to your palpable confusion as to whether you feel odiousness, fear, or attraction towards me." Turning to Caroline, he raised his brows with a knowing look.

Caroline's jaw dropped and then stood in front of Klaus, blocking his path. "Whoa, there, buddy!" She folded her arms across her chest, her cheeks looking flushed. "Let's get one thing straight: I don't date serial killers. I'm not that desperate; therefore, you're not my type."

Klaus and Caroline stared back and forth, not uttering a word.

Caroline felt her throat run dry when she heard the words echo inside her head a few dozen times. Serial killer.

Klaus licked his lips in the most threatening way Caroline thought possible. "I see you like stories, Miss Forbes." Caroline could only gape at him. "Since it seems that you enjoy listening to what the riff raff have to say. Would you like to hear another story?"

Klaus didn't wait for her answer and began to walk. "There was a commoner who was sent here by her foster parents about four years ago and not just her but her sister as well. She met my sister, became real good mates and then... a new student was enrolled. He was still healing from a deep wound to the rib cage. My sister's mate became infatuated with the boy from the moment they met, describing to my sister that it was... 'love at first sight.'" Klaus rolled his eyes.

"What happened?" Caroline asked.

"The two dated and they seemed happy, that is until... the boy's wound ceased healing. Instead, it became infected. The nurses did everything they could but the infection was relentless."

Caroline gasped. "Why didn't they get him to the hospital?"

Klaus chuckled darkly. "Funny thing about this place is that there is no getting out without your parents' approval, but... the boy's parents were unreachable. It seemed as if they'd disappeared off the face of the Earth after they dropped him off, meaning that it was the end of the line for him."

"That's insane!" Caroline screamed. "That is a medical emergency. You can't just deprive someone of their medical needs."

Klaus smiled arrogantly. "I continue to forget that you're new here. Well, you should know that the nurses here do not care about you or any of the belligerent twits who roam these halls. If the nurses had the choice of being sued for allowing a student to die where their parents did not permit them to die, or watching you die. Guess which one they would choose."

Caroline stayed silent.

"Now, where was I?" Klaus asked himself. "Ah, yes. The infection only continued to fester inside the wound. The boy and my sister's mate knew the boy didn't have many days left. As the end drew near, my sister's mate tried to take care of her lover as best she could, tending to all his needs, ensuring he would not die feeling alone. However, little did this girl know that my sister was growing closer to the boy with every day that neared his death.

"My sister and the boy had always been good mates, but they had never been as close as they were then. My sister had some experience nursing, so she went and gave him some herbal remedies to alleviate some of the pain. Of course, she could not cure him with these concoctions, but these private meetings changed their relationship significantly. A few days later, the entire school was certain the boy wouldn't live to see noon of that day. He was the face of death; the boy's skin was white as a ghost, his eyes turned a pale yellow color, sweat dripping down his face from his fever but his skin was cold to the touch.

"My sister's mate refused to leave his side, staying until she claimed to watch him die. My sister joined the other nurses to begin preparations to put his body into a casket while the school had a moment of silence for the boy. A few moments later, my sister brought the boy out... alive."

"What?!" Caroline expressed a look of disbelief.

"He was alive and was then quarantined for about two weeks. The amount of time it took for the infection and the wound to disappear. His girl was only permitted to send him cards which were sent through my sister, but I believe he had other distractions to occupy him...

"Wait... what exactly happened between the two of them?" Caroline scrutinized Klaus.

Klaus flashed Caroline a mischievous smile. "You seem intelligent, love. I'll let you put the pieces together."

Caroline's eyebrows knitted together as she thought intensely. "Rebekah stole her friend's boyfriend and her friend hates her now, but where's the guy since she's with... Oh, my God!" Caroline's eyes widened. "Stefan Salvatore!"

Klaus gave her a look of approval. "I knew you would figure it out, love."

"Wait. Then who's the friend?"

Klaus feigned a look of surprise. "You mean she didn't tell you? I suppose that tells you a lot about her true colors."

"Tell me what? What do you mean 'she?'"

"Why your dear friend, who was happy enough to fill your head with stories about me and my family, of course. Elena Gilbert. Convenient, isn't it? That she decided to keep the ones about her from you."

"I don't care if Elena didn't tell me that your sister was a backstabber," Caroline spat.

"You should," Klaus stated darkly. "Elena wasn't a complete fool. After Stefan was released from quarantine, she could physically feel the changes in him. He'd begun ignoring her, spending every second with my sister and our family. She had become obsessed with him and ended up confronting him about the physical changes in their relationship. Stefan did not hesitate to confess about his activities with my sister in quarantine. Elena was humiliated and turned on my sister. She accused Rebekah of witchcraft to both heal Stefan and make him fall in love with her. She became the joke of the school; the nurses deemed her mentally unstable.

"After her obsession with Stefan, the boys harassed her like a harlot, and the girls teased her for believing in witchery. When she couldn't take it anymore, she claimed to have seen me, along with my brothers, with fangs, white as the full moon and a face that resembled the devil. She called us 'Servants of the devil.'"

Caroline shook her head. "I don't believe you. Elena is-"

"Normal?" Klaus chuckled. "Sweetheart, open your eyes. Look around you. How do you suppose that one gets thrown into a school filled with malicious adolescents? Every single one of us deserves to be here. That includes you. It's time you've accepted it." Klaus increased his pace, taking a sharp turn.

Caroline began to run to catch up. "What do you mean deserve to be here?"

"Well, isn't it obvious? We're all killers," Klaus replied nonchalantly. "You look me in the eye, love, and tell me that you've never harmed anyone."

Caroline stared intensely into Klaus's deep blue eyes before letting her gaze fall.

Klaus pushed a strand of blonde hair behind Caroline's shoulder, causing her to flinch at his touch.

"Why do you shy away from your darkness?" Klaus analyzed her.

"What are you talking about?"

"You do not wish to speak of your sins. You act as if they never happened," Klaus told her.

"Maybe there's a reason for that," Caroline snapped.

"What are you hiding?"

"Why are you so nosy?"

"It's my school," Klaus claimed, "I have a right to know."

Caroline scoffed. "Elena was right about you and the rest of you Mikaelsons. You think the entire planet revolves around your beautiful heads. Well, I don't live in that world, Mister." She stormed ahead in a fit of rage.

"Of course, more tales from the girl who cried witch," Klaus quipped.

Caroline turned on her heel and walked back up to Klaus, fuming. "You know what? After all that time you spent trying to convince me that Elena was insane, you failed to mention your own story. If Elena is crazy and you're not a lethal werewolf person, or a serial killer then who are you?"

Klaus's lips quirked up into a small grin. "Perhaps one day I'll tell you."

Caroline grasped Klaus's strong arm. "What? You can't do that."

"Alright, love. I'll tell you who I am... if you tell me who Caroline Forbes is."

Caroline gritted her teeth together, wanting to slap the smug look off his face.

Klaus and Caroline finally stepped into the hallway with a reasonable amount of light emitting from the ceiling. They stopped right outside Caroline's classroom.

"Oh, thank Jesus!" Caroline whispered.

"You can just call me Klaus, but I will accept that as well," Klaus smirked.

She rolled her eyes. "I suppose I should thank you for taking me back."

Klaus quickly leaned in close enough for Caroline's heart to skip a beat, thinking he was leaning in for a kiss. "Just so we're clear, I am exactly your type. You may not admit it now, but you love the danger and the thrill, and I enjoy the thrill of the chase."

Caroline closed her eyes as she tried to catch her breath.

Ring! Ring!

Caroline's eyes shot open, realizing that Klaus had disappeared and the hallway was once again filled with loud, deadly adolescents.
