Hey guys and gals CowboyK here with a soulmate au oneshot, I've got a pretty bad case of writer's block on my other story The Favor and this idea popped into my heads in advance thanks for reading! (btw this is real life au too)

Ruby Rose lived her life surrounded by gray. Gray friends, gray clothes, gray grass, but she didn't mind as much as some of her friends. She knew that one day the color would come to her eyes, when she touched her 'soulmate'. Even at the age of seventeen her friend Nora had found her Ren a couple weeks ago, now basking in the pinks and greens that they loved to tell her about whenever they had the free time. Not that she was complaining too much, her best friend Jaune has broke down in AP Chemistry the other day. It wasn't until she asked Jaune later why, and he responded with three heartbreaking words "Black and white"

Even though she had grown to resent the color gray, she still valued the fact that she didn't see what Jaune saw. Because when your vision goes black and white that means you're soulmate died, She was just glad she still saw the bland color, but it still reminded her everytime she saw Jaune that her soulmate was still alive, at least she was right now.

Ruby would have kept wallowing in her own self pity but a knock on her door brought her back to reality. Ruby had been staring at her bedroom ceiling when a masculine voice carried through the door.

"Hey Ruby, you're gonna be late for work honey, might want to get moving" said her father before she heard his heavy footsteps walk away. Wait work? Ruby glanced down at her phone which said 9:40. Damn work started at 10:00, she only had 20 minutes to get dressed and make the 15 minute drive to the mall and run to the food court that was near the back, no problem she could do this.

There was no way she would make it on time, she ran past her father yelling.

"Bye dad! Say hi to mom for me when she gets home from her mission!" She didn't even hear her father's reply of.

"Bye Ruby… Have a good time today… I don't think anyone will be saying hi to your mother anytime soon."

It was 9:58 when she ran into the mall, once she got through all the doors she was at a sprint. She couldn't be late again, she'd already been late two times this week and she didn't want to add one more mark against her, she was definitely going to be fired if she was late again, so she increased her already breakneck pace.

Ruby could see the food court now, she hurdled a bench and continued her crazy speed towards it. Fate however had other plans for the girl and she crashed head first into the chest of someone who had also been running somewhere, they hit hard and ended up sprawled across the ground.

"Oh God oh God I'm so sorry are you okay!" Ruby exclaimed worried she hurt whoever she ran over as she dusted off her clothes and stood up noticing it was a girl by the long hair she could see since the girl was on her back. The unnamed girl spoke.

"I'm fine, just watch where you're going next time! And help me up, it's the least you could do" The girl sat up,and Ruby grabbed her hand and pulled her up. Her parents always told her that when she saw colors she would know what they were, and they were right. Suddenly, her vision lit up and she was almost blinded by the green interior of the wall, and when she looked at the girl she saw the most beautiful blue eyes, whose beauty was only matched by the white hair that seemed to flow with the beautiful blue dress she was wearing. She couldn't find any words besides.

"Hi, my name's Ruby. I guess we're soulmates now" The other girl chuckled and stood up, she looked Ruby in the eye's and said.

"Y'know I never imagined I'd like the color gray after I found my soulmate, but your silver eye's are gorgeous. The names Weiss, soulmate."
