The weather in California today was chilly. All Covington students were wrapped up in several articles of clothing to keep themselves warm. Scarfs, hats, mittens, coats, and boots were being taken out of their suitcases hid away from underneath their bed. Some students hated the weather and AJ Lee was no exception. AJ was a strong supporter of the warm weather and this was too cold for her liking.
April was currently walking throughout the courtyard with a Starbucks hot chocolate in hand. The woman was hoping that this cup would warm her up and for the most part it did, but still she was hoping for a little more. The reason that she was staying outside in the courtyard this afternoon was because of her desperate need to get away; to get away from all the books and papers along with any other stressors that were present in her life.
How'd I get like this? April thought to herself. How did her whole life suddenly revolve around all this stress and pressure? Then it clicked to her, Dolph Ziggler happened. When you put all your faith in one thing, one person, it should be no surprise when your world begins crashing down when that one person is taken away. Now all she had to do was focus on the rebuilding.
A heavy sigh came from the brunettes pink lips, it was so icy outdoors that the breath was visible within the air. As AJ turned around to hed back into her dorm room a certain individual was standing a few feet in front of her, it was Dolph himself.
The two were quiet for a while, it was the first time the two had encountered in weeks. What could you really say in this moment? His blue eyes were locked on her brown ones; until she looked down at her shoes.
"Well, well, well….Dolph Ziggler alive in the flesh. I shouldn't be so surprised."
"No probably not. You look amazing…"
"You don't need to flatter me out of pity."
"Who said anything about pity?"
Her brown eyes began to rise, she connected with his lovely features. A faint smile came across AJ's lips, seeing him again provided her with a different feeling than she thought. The woman was preparing herself for a feeling of hatred but instead came the one thing she feared most, love.
An overwhelmed feeling came over AJ which resulted in her quickly turning her head back to the stone pathway beneath her. After this time apart she was expecting her feelings to have faded somewhat but they haven't, they were still as present as ever. And his feelings were still nonexistent.
"Oh okay."
"Is this how it's going to be? Awkward and quiet." The blonde spoke, you could hear the sadness in his tone.
"Well I told you I didn't want to see you. You should have listened to me and once you saw me here you should have just turned around and walked your separate way."
"What if that's not what I want?"
April's eyes began to water. It shocked her how weak she had become. The two hadn't even spoken 50 words to each other and she was on the verge of breaking down in front of him. This wasn't her, she was strong, way too strong to be crying in front of him.
"Excuse me." The woman spoke while she desperately pushed her way past him. The tears began to flood down her cheeks, the brisk weather made her cheeks feel frozen. April's nose became red due to her constantly sniffling.
After AJ walked a decent distance from the man she was quick to pull out her phone. It was almost like a reflex, a much unexpected one. Her fingers came to dial Phillip Brooks number. The few seconds she had to wait for him to pick up felt like decades.
"Lee." A smirk was present on Phil's face and AJ knew that too, it was as if she could see his expression over the phone.
"Hey. So, we're friends right?" April was stuttering, it then became very clear to Punk that something was wrong.
"Of course we're friends."
"Okay, and friends help each other out right?"
"I'd assume so."
"Come see me."
Eve Torres and Mike Mizanin decided to stay home this Friday night unlike other students. Instead of going out the two decided on relaxing on Eve's bed with tons of snacks scattered around and Netflix playing in the background. Mike was wearing a grey Covington sweatshirt with a pair of black Nike shorts while Eve wore a pair of loose black sweatpants and a red t-shirt; they were definitely going for something more cozy than stylish.
The brunette laid her head on the man's chest while cuddling up to him. Her left leg was laid across the tops of his legs. A smile pursed across Mike's lips as he played with the string on her sweatpants, the feeling that he had in these small moments were indescribable.
"You're so comfy." Eve muttered softly as she got even closer to him.
Miz began to chuckle at that while he continued to play with her sweats string, he placed a small kiss on the roof of her head before responding. "Well, thank you."
"You're welcome... Are you thinking about going to the game tomorrow? It's the last one before the big homecoming one."
"I was not…but I wouldn't be opposed to it."
"I'm thinking about buying a few tickets. Come with me."
"Well I guess I'd have to fit you in my schedule... but I guess so." Mike began to chuckle, his hand still stroking the woman's backside.
"Thank you, thank you." A smile came across Eve's features as she adjusted, she was now laying on top of him. She gave him a few lasting pecks with her smile still present.
"God, I love your lips." The blonde man smiled while kissing her softly.
Suddenly a knock approached the main door, interrupting their embrace. A groan was released from both of their lips.
"I'll go get that." Eve pulled herself away and sluggingly got up off the bed; after having been laid down for a couple hours the walk from her room to the front door seemed like forever.
When she had finally pulled the door open who was behind it was definitely shocking, if Eve had had a million guesses on who'd be behind that wooden door she would've never gotten it.
In front of her stood none other than Cody Rhodes, Eve's ex-boyfriend. He was clean cut with a fresh new hairstyle, his pearly whites were shown through his widened smile. Cody was dressed in a nice pair of American eagle jeans and a grey buttoned up shirt, definitely more fashionable then Eve's attire.
"Eve…."
Their expressions were completely different. While Eve's jaw was dropped completely to the floor his smile was spread wider than ever. His expression matched as Mike Mizanin made his way to the door that was something he definitely didn't expect.
"And….Mike."
"Cody…" A bitchy laugh was released from Mike's lips before responding, "Great."
To say these two didn't like each other would be an understatement. Cody Rhodes came from money while The Miz definitely did not. Rhodes was also like a John Cena 2.0 or his sidekick as Mike would like to call him; that was another thing that got under The Miz's skin. Although they already had money, popularity, and sports to fight each other for they now had a new piece to the puzzle, a woman.
The dark haired man stood for a second in silence as he tried to recap his emotions. He was shocked to say the least, also very confused. Cody scratched the temple of his head before finally finding words to respond with.
"Mike, I'm guessing you're here to see Barbie…"
"Well, I'd guess again."
Yet another awkward pause came into the mix, this time Eve found her opportunity to intervene.
"Cody, what are you doing here? I thought you left to work for your dad… Remember that little note that you left me before you ditched?"
"You thought right, I guess I just missed the college experience, the sports, the people…you."
Chills ran through Mike's body, seeing them together caused him to have a feeling he's never felt before, jealousy. His fists began to react by balling up firmly. If there was one thing for sure it was that Miz didn't like that feeling. "So that's just it? They let you come back in the middle of classes? How's that even possible?"
"Oh come on Mikey. Do you really think they wouldn't let the best wide receiver in Covington history whose dad also funds the schools thousands come back whenever he feels like?"
"Oh yes, I forgot you got everything handed to you on a silver platter."
"Everyone makes mistakes. I won't hold that against you." A bitchy chuckle came from Cody as he glanced back at his ex before continuing, "Now Evie, I've had my fair share of downgrades since I left because in all honesty no one compares to the great Eve Marie Torres but you resort to Mike "The Miz" Mizanin? I'm insulted."
"Cody, please. Mike is not anything close to a downgrade, in all honesty he's a massive upgrade."
A smile pursed across Mike's lips as the brunette wrapped her arms around his one to snuggle up to him. The look on Cody's face at this moment was like it always was, plastered with a smirk. "Did you only come here to insult me? If so then just leave."
"No actually. I stopped by at your old place Eve, I asked Maria where you were and she said you moved in with Miss. Barbara Blank. So I came here to see you Eve… see if you wanted to go catch a bite to eat and catch up, that way I could apologize."
Cody's blue eyes stared at the woman, it was as if his stare paralyzed her. Both men in the room right now were very aware of that.
"No, I'm busy right now…"
"Alright I understand you not really wanting to see me right now-"
Mike wouldn't even allow Cody to finish, it was as if cutting him off was a reflex. "So, see you then."
A chuckle released from the opposing man's lips. Seeing his structure and tenseness only amused him more. It made Cody feel good to have such an impact on him.
"Yeah, I guess so. Bye Eve, Mike."
Eve couldn't help but watch him as he walked away, her eyes held a heavy stare. What just happened?
The walk from Randy's dormitory to Brie Bella's room was long enough but with the added suspense it felt like forever. His palms were sweaty and his whole body was tightened up and tense. Randy didn't know if he was going to live to regret this; after all he was listening to Nikki Bella.
He wasn't quite sure on why Nikki seemed to use him as a pawn in every game she played involving her sister but he didn't like it. The relationship between Brie and him was amazing, there was nothing between them that involved his past which was the way he liked it. It was hard for him to return to Covington with all the glares and talk from all other Covington students so for the two of them to have a fresh platform was relieving.
It only brought him back to remember the first time the two had met and how much Brie had hated him. Not because of what she heard or thought just for the soul reason that he got under her skin – it didn't make much sense on why that enticed him but it just did.
Brie's door and Randy had now come face to face. It took a while for him to finally built up the nerve to place a knock on it but he did, which led Brie to open it with a smile pursed across her lips.
"Randy, I didn't expect to see you."
"Yeah… are you busy?"
"No, I'm not. Would you like to come in?"
All Randy did was nod and the woman let him in. It didn't take long for Brie to see how tense the tatted man was. He hadn't even sat down, he just stood in the middle of her room rubbing his hands together while glancing around.
"What's wrong?" Randy saw the worry on his friends face, he knew he had to say this fast.
"Um, nothing's wrong. Nikki just wanted me to come here and ask you about Daniel…."
Randy's words came out in an anxious form; he spoke softly with a couple stutters. The brunette's reaction didn't make this any easier on him. Brie looked breathless, like a deer caught in headlights. The woman cleared her throat before responding in the same tone he did.
"What? Why would she do that…?"
"You tell me."
And there it was, that awkward atmosphere that seemed to always be present with them. The two stood in silence for a long time. It took a lot of effort and courage for the twin to break through and speak.
"Daniel was my ex-boyfriend. We broke up due to his problem…"
"Problem? What problem?"
"That's personal…"
Then it all made sense to him. "Was it a drug problem?"
Even more confusion rushed over Brie, maybe she wasn't as vague as she thought she was when addressing it. "Yes- how did you know?"
Randy was quick to ignore her question and continued on with his. "You broke up with him because he had a drug problem?"
"Well yeah but it-"
"I've got to go."
"But-"
Before Brie could even speak the man was already out of the door. Randy was facing a lot of issues at the moment. It was obvious that because Brie had already been through all the drama that came from drugs she wouldn't want to deal with him anymore. Not only that because of his question and reaction his past wasn't a top secret to Brie anymore and if she hadn't cracked the code yet she was going to ask around and scoop up the dirt herself.
Randy would like to think that it would've been different if his drug problems were only in the past. But that wasn't always the case. Besides, it wasn't a problem that was in the past anymore he was back on it, he was hooked.
Well Covington is definitely facing some problems, like always.
