It was 4 AM on a cold Wednesday morning when the Covington Football players, coaches, cheerleaders and a few of the faculty stood outside piling into busses. It was 31 degrees outside and everyone was covered from head to toe in sweatpants or jeans, sweaters, coats, and toboggans. These California natives weren't use to this weather.
Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, John Cena, and Cody Rhodes were in good spirits this morning. While most of the people boarding the bus were ready to go back to sleep at this ungodly hour, the foursome were ready to make this road trip as fun as possible. "Sleep when you're dead" as Cody liked to say.
The girls seemed to be pretty crabby this morning, especially Maryse. The girl loved her beauty sleep. It was also easy to be uptight when you had to carry a couple hundred pounds of luggage with you. The French Canadian had two filled up suitcases (one containing clothes and the other containing beauty items) the poor girl was struggling to even get one past the first step.
Cody Rhodes walked up behind her and couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. He looked the woman up and down and laughed once more. "Ryse do you know what traveling light is?"
"Very funny. Now help me."
"Very well princess." The young man grabbed ahold of her suitcases and carried it inside the bus. He placed them right next to each other on one of the top shelves. He scanned around him and saw a certain brunette stumbling her way in. His signature smirk spread across his features as he made his way over.
"Ah, and do you need help with your luggage?"
Eve looked up at him with a raised brow and a small smirk. The woman shook her head and brushed past him. "No but thanks."
"You sure? I know a small woman like yourself can't pick up all those clothes."
A sigh of disgust came from the woman's glossed lips, she glanced his way before picking up the bag. "Is your way of flirting belittling me?"
"Oh come on Eve it's not belittling."
"Mhm." The Latina stood on her tippy toes and placed the bag in place. She blew a few strands of hair out of her eyes and then turned around to see a smirk on Cody's face. It didn't take long for her to figure out he was staring at her backside. A sigh of disgust was released while she avoided the confrontation and walked towards the seat next to Barbie.
As Eve went to take a seat she was pushed out of the way by a certain blonde. Maryse sat down in the seat she was aiming for with a smirk plastered on her face. An annoyed sigh came out of Eve's newly glossed lips; in a way she wasn't even surprised.
"Oh I'm sorry Eve. Did you want to sit here?"
In a lot of ways Eve was tired. She was tired physically after only 2 hours of sleep, she was tired emotionally with all the drama that was going on, but she was also tired of Maryse's bullshit. All the woman could come to do was flash a little smile and walk her own way because she wouldn't fight with her this early over a stupid seat.
Maryse sat down next to her friend with a small smile. She glanced over at Barbie who currently had two headphones in and her eyes close. With little consideration Maryse took the headphones out of Barbie's ears and began to speak. That moment forward the blonde knew that this was going to be a long ride.
Meanwhile back at Covington classes were still on, heads were still laying on pillows and alarm clocks were set. Around 8 AM everyone began to awaken and secrets began to uncover early this morning That's the price that comes with being around fewer people, less distractions more secrets to spill.
Mike Mizanin was laying on his bed flipping through songs on the Pandora app on his iPhone. Music was one of his key motivations in the morning (besides a quickie.) In a little less than an hour was his least favorite class, AP Statistics. Words could not express his hatred for that class and for so many different reasons. The professor was crabby, the class was too overpowering, the room smelled like something died and the work continuously piled on each other.
By the time The Miz leaned over and grabbed his socks from his dresser drawer the door began to creep open. Behind the woodened door stood a very shocked Phillip Brooks. His hair was messy and his sleeves were ruffled. A smirk came across Mike's face as he looked at his roomies blankless expression.
"What are you doing here? You always stay over at Eves."
"She's out of town for the weekend. Now who'd you spend the night with?"
"Doesn't matter."
A smirk spread across the blondes lips. His imaginary investigation cap was now placed on his head and he was ready to crack the code.
"I see someone didn't expect to see me here this morning."
"No, I didn't. Are you surprised that I'm a little shocked to see you here? You're whipped by some girl and you're never here."
The Miz took a few seconds to respond but in the meantime he let out an amused bitchy chuckle.
"I'm whipped? Well if sleeping in bed with a girl every night then shacking it up with you means I'm whipped then so be it, I'm whipped. But the only reason a college guy lies to his friend about sleeping with a girl is because she has so much control she made him keep it a secret or he actually likes her and doesn't want to admit it yet, especially not to himself. Take your pick."
"What about the 3rd option? The one where I don't owe you a damn explanation."
"A mixture of both than I suppose?"
The tatted man gew even more irritated. He walked over to the dresser to grab what he came for (which was his axe and phone charger) and then stormed out of the room. This left Mike to a smirk that he wore in pleasure. He always knew that Punk was dramatic but what he didn't know was that AJ Lee was standing outside his door at the end of the hall waiting.
Although Phil was irritated when she came to his view point a small smile couldn't help but form on his face.
"Did you get what you need?"
"Yes. Let's get going."
"Okay. Where to next? Jupiter's ascending movie or lunch at Little Ceasers?"
"Your choice today." Smiled punk as he wrapped an arm around her neck as they walked. She held onto his gigantic paws with both of her hands. The smile from his features was duplicated onto hers.
On the Covington activity bus 18 hours later so many heads were dropped down to sleep. The only people who were actually awake were Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, and Eve Torres.
Ziggler and Orton were night owls. That was one of the things that made them ideal roomies. Randy's eyes were stuck on his phone whether he was swiping candy pieces on Candy Crush or scrolling through his twitter timeline he kept himself entertained.
He looked over at his neighbor Cody who was in deep sleep. Randy never though he'd see the day, the entire ride all Cody did was talk and talk. Cody assumed that because the two were apart for so long that they needed to catch up on everything but in reality they didn't. Randy didn't mind too much though in all honesty he missed his friend. Cody Rhodes was one of those people where their company was a pleasure to anyone because no matter what you always knew he meant well.
Randy Orton was actually really calm in this fleeting moment. For as long as he can remember life was stressful if it was because of drugs, school, social aspects, Brie… it didn't matter this weekend was going to be stress free. No thoughts of Brie, no worries about Brie, just nothing. All this weekend was about was hanging out with some good friends, getting drunk, and playing some kick ass football.
Dolph Ziggler was focused on much different things. His blue eyes scanned around the bus before he lay a heavy stare on Barbie Blank. She was laying back in her seat with closed eyes.
A faint smile approached his lips as he watched her sleep. Numerous blonde locks covered over face; so much that you couldn't even see her eyes but for some odd reason that brought Dolph a bit of peace.
His stare was broken up when the brunette sitting next to him began to speak up.
"You still like her a lot. Don't you?"
Eves green eyes saw the blonde's unwillingness to speak and giggled faintly before adding on.
"It's fine. Besides it wasn't really a question I already know. But don't worry too much, she's starting to like you too."
A small chuckle came out of Dolph's lips as he scratched the back of his head. "Eve, Barbie Blank doesn't have feelings for me okay. Catch up."
"No, you catch up. Do you really not see the effect you have on her?" Dolphs smirk began to fade as she expressed herself.
"Dolph, the moment you stopped obsessing over her is when she became intrigued. The day you began to look at her as some average girl that you were going to get over was the day she stopped seeing you as the typical guy."
A bitchy chuckle came from the chiseled man's lips. "I see so it's just a game."
"No, Dolph, until then she didn't want to know you. She didn't care. To her you were like every other Covington guy. A jock who was compelled by "Barbie Blank" and not actually her. She's been there, done that and got hurt. Which is why she dated Phillip, which is why she was so obsessed over John who wouldn't give her the time of day. She wanted to be with someone different…"
"But that's ridiculous she's perfect. It'll be hard to find a guy who hasn't fallen for her."
"She likes being popular Dolph. It's a good way to hide so people won't see."
"See what?"
"Her."
That left the blonde a bit speechless and once again was left without knowing a way to respond.
"She's scared to let these guys who think she's so perfect in because you can only go down from perfect… And that's why you scare her but also the reason you intrigue her. You've seen her faults but still view her as perfection."
Dolph stroked his chin in awe as he processed Eve's words. The man let out a heavy breath and turned his head over to the woman. "And how do you know all this?"
"I read people well Dolph, not to mention I've known her since day one of freshman year and we're roommates."
"So I can probably trust you on this huh."
A smile came across her lips as she giggled. "I would." Before anymore could be said her phone began to buzz, it was Mike calling. This was what she was waiting up for. Her conversation with Dolph came to an end and all this left him with was his own thoughts racing through his mind.
