Guest: Thank you for the praise! I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for reminding me that Tsubaki is one the most perverted people. It's always the quiet ones, eh? No, I won't do rape, or sexual assault as a plot. I've improved? Well I'm glad you noticed because I didn't notice, so I am very happy! Thank you again!
Guest 2: Sorry for disappointing you, to each his own. But that's the route I go. I hope it hasn't deterred you from my fics.
1rockerchic: I'm glad you like this fic, me too!
Mad Rollinstone: Thank you for your praise, I appreciate it so much.
Little SunDargon-Chan(Jeez still with the long name!): Yes your name does mean yang(sun) Xiao(Small) Long(Dragon), I can still use my mandarin! Stein in a dress is indeed a very appealing image. Yes, TsuStar ftw! Unnie? What does that mean? I know "noona" is sister(honorific as well as females that are slightly older than you) in Korean. YES KOREAN DRAMAS FOR THE WIN. They are the best, well all the asian dramas are! I tried to get into Flower Boy Next Door, But Boys Over Flowers is still in my heart. Along with "To The Beautiful You." I will always love Lee Hyun Woo. *Swoon*
Angel-of-Darkness421: Well if you love it, then keep on reading!
And thanks to the rest of you for reading, Hope you enjoy it!
"Neh, Soul-kun, who's your partner for the project? You should be paired up with someone who isn't so good at science. I know I would want someone as handsome as you teaching me." The young beauty intertwined her arms around Soul's relaxed one. Soul indifferent was engrossed with another activity, completely ignorant to the girl stuck to his arm.
'That's the 10th one today' Maka chucked to herself. Leaning her head on the cool metal of the locker, she pouted her mouth, speaking to herself.
' What should I have for dinner? I could have pork, but I need some vegetables. Maybe if I work quickly at Soul's house I can make it to the market…'
"A penny for your thoughts?" A sudden, warm voice interrupted her train of thought.
"Eh? No, just daydreaming…" Maka lied, why? The overwhelming sense of guilt washed over, Maka couldn't understand it. Nothing spectacular happened. "Daydreaming how to murder Soul in the most elongated way, but not so long that it bores me so I kill him quickly and mercifully, when I'm too lazy."
"Ahh, the usual then. Is that the 20th slug on him today?"
"Nope, 10th, his charm isn't as strong today, but the slugs are getting more clingy. You owe me 10 bucks."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm waiting for Black*Star for my money. We have a bet on you and Soul. Can you wait for about 45 minutes before you kill him?" Kidd whipped off his blazer, his shirt loosely hung around his broad shoulders, from the afternoon sun he seemed to be glowing. A humongous, tall, glowing statue. Maka quickly stole a glance at Kidd, jeez, boys seemed to growing like weeds.
"I can't promise anything." Maka huffed, hugging her folders and books to her chest. "Kidd are you on steroids or something?" she inquired, so bluntly. Maka was so straight-forward Kidd caught his breath the wrong way and started to cough, his lean figure crouching over.
"WHAT?"
"Gee, don't need to get your panties in a twist. I was wondering how you got so tall. I remember you were a few centimetres below me then before I know it, you're as tall as the ceiling." Gesturing her hand above her head.
Kidd smiled brightly, looking down at Maka's ashy blonde head. "Nah you've just grown shorter, it's just in my genes. As well as my looks." Kidd smirked, his brain short-circuited. (So this must what Black*Star's brain must be like.)
"Or maybe people have lower standards" Maka jested. Kidd playfully shoved Maka, so she stumbled along the lockers.
"Come on, let's play some ball. I like having a midget play, makes life easier." Kidd pulled up Maka, with the bright orange ball on one hand, and his other hand around Maka's neck. His long slender fingers barely grazing the neck of her t-shirt.
Maka was too embarrassed to notice the people watching her.
SOUL'S HOUSE
They met the familiar, pristine white door. Maybe the Evan's family colour was white? Who would've guessed? Maka sardonically rolled her eyes, as she trailed after Soul. Not that she had been dreading this, she just wanted this over so she had enough time to get to the supermarket, or she was going to have very little dinner tonight. Oblivious to her surroundings, she bent over to undo her shoes, so her skirt rose up. Soul who was fortunate enough to turn around to get his bag from the floor, got a flash, before whipping around with shock. Soul's mind was whirling, his mind was imprinting that image until he would pass out.
"Come on, we don't have all day" he grumbled, stalking into the living room. Maka felt relieved, that Soul also wanted this to be over. Well something they could agree with, for once.
They spread out all their sheets and notes, in an organised way. Sat opposite each other and put pen to paper. For a few moments silence, there was peace, only the scratching of pens was heard.
"Feel sorry for you." Maka stated, disinterested.
"Why?" Soul was completely bamboozled, what could he want more than this?
"You didn't get to be with one of the hottest girls in the year. You know Liz. Since you go on about my two friends being the hottest girls in the year, but stuck with little ol'me." Maka explained, in a plaintive voice.
Screw being the gentleman and kindness.
"Yes, I get the yappy little dog. That just won't shut it's damn mouth." Soul hissed out, gripping his pen harder, so hard he accidentally made a hole in his paper. Maka's head was still turned to her books, merely glancing at Soul. More interested in her work. Well Soul was going to grab her attention whether she liked it or not.
"Hmm, and I get the big playboy. How lucky am I?" Maka's tone dripping in sarcasm.
"Well most girls would kill to be where you are now."
"Well I am not most girls." Maka, slammed down her pencil, finally challenging Soul's arrogant gaze.
"Indeed, you see most girls I know, actually have a figure, a character, something that is noteworthy of them." Right back into his comfort zone. His long, slim fingers clasped each other, holding his chin up. A cruel smile flashed at Maka, with those amazing teeth, that she could not stop thinking about. They haunted her dreams, they were just so fascinating.
"Oh, noteworthy? So their low self-worth. Well low enough to sleep with you." Maka fired back, once again, his words were becoming little pricks, but they would soon turn into lethal daggers.
"Well they know how to have fun, a little adventure. Something I think you are unfamiliar with." Soul commented, the blood rushing around his body, his breath becoming small pants. His mind had gone onto auto-drive; he barely knew what he was doing.
"I really wish this was a detention. The time span that I spend with imbeciles like you would definitely be limited, so I don't go mad." Maka sighed, picking up her pen, leaning her cheek on her hand. "Maybe it would be better if I was with Kidd, he wouldn't be such an arse." Maka, shook her head in disappointment and carried on.
Soul, on the other hand was furious on the inside, she always mentioned Kidd, it was Kidd this and Kidd that. She must be fucking in love with him, Soul didn't know why but it drove him crazy.
"I see, you've got the hots for your friend. Don't you feel their pity for you, the ugly duckling, surrounded by these beautiful swans?" Soul babbled out, already starting to feel the numbing effect of regret. "We only do it for charity." Maka had never seen that look, sure she had seem anger, confused, bored, but not sadistic and cruel. It was altogether too creepy and soul-crushing at the same time. Those daggers had lengthened into swords and plunged even deeper into her heart. She had swallowed her salvia, as her chest felt heavy and body began to shake
"And those girls you sleep with, are probably under the influence. Drugged enough not to see what you really are. Probably faking." Maka tapped her foot against the tile floor, she knew she could come up with something better, her brain already formulating the next insult.
"Well I don't get complaints." Soul smirked
"Their mouths were probably full."
Soul's smirked began to fade, this wasn't the usual fight, it was those serious ones, where they either make it or break it.
"Well it's only you whose complaining. Or is this a sign, that the pure, chaste, virgin Maka wants me to fulfil her wildest dreams? Or is Daddy telling you to stay away from people like me? Soul merely acknowledged what his mouth had just said. Maka's quivering hand stopped, it slipped across the paper, a line of ink running behind.
Time had stopped between them, only their chests moving, trying to even their breath.
"Maka, I'm sorry, I wasn't-"
"You're right. My father did tell me to stay away from rich bastards like you. You just go off and dance around in your fancy car, thinking everyone will lick your boots for you, people will be willing to give you everything and you can be as happy as you want. So, let's just finish our work, so we can get out of each other's lives as soon as possible. I just an A and get on" Maka coolly picked up her pen and once again started to scribble.
No, Soul wouldn't let their fight end this way.
"So Stein isn't happy with his little pet?" Soul seethed.
Nope, Maka really couldn't let this one slide. She was way too far in to let this give up and submit to Soul.
"So your bed partners haven't been fulfilling you? Gossip is that you're not up to the basic standards." Maka's eyebrows rose, cockily. It was cheap shot but it was too late for flowery insults.
"So Albarn is it true, when geeks go to parties, they flip a coin to see which person has to come dressed as girl?"
Is it true you're the bastard child, seeing how many wives your father has had?"
'Words, words, come back please' Maka begged silently, feeling the full brunt of Soul's anger and the trickling remorse.
"You think you are so clever, Albarn. One small way your mother and father have trumped mine. My father didn't flee because he was a sex maniac. Well at least mine didn't leave me at childhood! They wouldn't have wanted such an ugly daughter that couldn't catch anyone's eye even if she tried. I'm bloody pissed off you Albarn. You think you're so high and mighty, with your grades, your high status friends. Look what they have in common and you don't." Soul turned his face the other way, his fist in front of his mouth, unable to calm his pulse again.
"I'm sorry." Of all the words in the English language, those were the two words Soul had least expected, to hear from Maka Albarn.
"If saying sorry makes everything better, then why are there laws and the police force?" There was no way in hell that Soul Evans was going to let Maka off for her little quip before. Maka rolled her eyes, like the greedy bastard he was, he was going to make her pay. Maka was glad to face her work, it would not mock her because of her tears. No one to see her cry. Gulping down her pride as well as her tears, her body felt like a vacuum.
Hollow, emotionless, doing only basic movements. Ahh so she had reached this level again, well wasn't it better to battle Soul this way? It felt nice, to be empty, nothing to hurt you, no complex thinking.
" I'm sorry." It was just so easy, to utter such simple words. She wasn't giving up, she just stopped. Maka had finally finished her last letter on her paper. They were equal. They were finally still.
"Well I'm sorry too…. Sorry I could've gotten with your hotter friends, but I got stuck with the scrawny rat like you. Stuck-up little virgin, who doesn't even know where her daddy is." The pure venom injected in that sentence was a wonderful pain-killer. De-ja vu. Maka fixed her mouth into a smile, she was glad to see Soul's smirk slip as he watched her expression. Gathering her books, she left her notes on the desk. She didn't care about teamwork, for now, she knew she was going to be the thinker in the team. She was always the person behind the plan, behind the beautiful people. And anyway, an after school lesson dissection with the creepy, sickly looking Stein was 100 times better than what she had spent with Soul. A dead frog couldn't talk back to her, and mock her about her wealth and family. It would be silent, peaceful and dead.
"I have to go, it's getting late." Words were so useless to her right now, but her mind was controlling her body, so what could she do about it? Standing up quickly and swung her bag onto her shoulders, she got off her chair and walked out.
She had been to this house so many times she didn't have to be shown out, she's been here longer than Soul's father's 3rd wife.
Maka barely recalls the barbaric yells behind her, the white coat tails hanging behind her, it's an odd feeling, knowing your feet are automatically moving, but her heart didn't acknowledge it. Her inner self seemed to have vanished. Her head is yanked backwards and her two usual pigtails are released from their usual place. Long streams of ashy blonde hair flow, past her ears suddenly bringing in warmth, tickling her neck. There were even more blurry sounds. It was like bad reception on the television, fuzzy and confusing.
"Why are you leaving now? It's getting dark! Wait and I'll take you home." Like he was speaking some foreign language, Maka ignored him, and kept on walking to that crisp white door. That door led to logic and reality. How sweet would reality taste, when she was back in her comfortable creaky bed, curled up with a good book.
Once again she felt some force, her back hit the wall, the one near the coat rack apparently, since she felt different materials graze her arm. She looked up at the source, her green orbs wide, and her lips parted a little.
"Are you leaving because you have a date? Is it with Kidd? Answer me damn it!" The voice was medium and unpleasant, the familiar hazy red eyes, those teeth that she had admired from ages ago were glinting in front of her. Her head was clear and empty, however what she couldn't understand why he was so mad? She was leaving, didn't that make him happy? Wouldn't they leave each other in peace? To find their own happiness.
"Maka, why the hell are you being like this? A coward! Tell me why you're leaving. Just tell me if you have a date with Kidd?!" Maka could only acknowledge one word he said, Kidd. Yes Kidd, Kidd was trustworthy. He could help her get out of this mess.
Suddenly her face was lifted forward, those crimson eyes boring into her glassy ones, their lips barely apart. Her button nose grazed his cheek. His slightly pointier one dug into her cheek too.
"I'm sorry!" That voice used to be calm, but now was quick, eager and meaningless. Such useless words. "Maka just wait, I really am sorry." Maka's eyes closed painfully, sighing. She was barely getting enough oxygen, because he was still so close. Suddenly her body was made from lead, it was so heavy, who knew how much pain humans went through, just from living.
Crushing what little oxygen Maka had left, she felt warmth, a wave of it. Her arms had already lost their blood, from being held tightly above her head. Another warm touch around her waist, as if she was in possession of this person. With parted lips, they exchanged warm breath, and silky tongues running over her hot lips. After they had parted, she started to walk, the hands that had kept her still, were finally gone. She slipped on her shoes, and felt the cold handle of the brass. With unknown force she pulled it open and began her march once again.
For the last time she was pulled back, her hand was tugged behind her, she turned to see Soul grabbing onto her wrist, his large hand easily smothering her one. "Please don't leave."
Soul had never begged before, was he going to start now?
Well this was suffiently awkward. (To those who know mean girls). I just wanted to the more vulnerable side to this couple, and I didn't know how to end it. I hope the chemistry was their in their little fight. Hope their fight was alright? Please let me know what you think, just hit that review button. I really would love it if you guys told me your opinions.
Love
