A week had passed since Eve had opened her eyes from her deep sleep and things were a little different now. The students were back at their home sleeping in their own warm beds. This was much better than the crappy couches from inside the hospital waiting room. It was weird for them to think that life just went on after this, for days they sat following the same depressing routine of waiting and waiting. The shock that came after all the waiting was that even after John Cena and Eve Torres were awake and overall alive, nothing would ever be the same.
The students all imagined that when the two woke up things would just carry on like it never happened. Too bad life isn't such a luxury. No, it was never to be the same. The star quarterback no longer had two legs to walk on but instead two wheels to depend on. The brunette was no longer just the girl next door but instead the girl who survived an early death. Lastly the 60 students in attendance to this event were no longer just lively young adults living out the rest of their youth with wild tactics but instead a group of young terrified students who now knew how quick life could change on a dime.
The two roomies; Barbie Blank and Eve Torres were sat on top of brunette's unmade bed. In just two days marked Dolph Zigglers birthday and Barbie felt that she needed to do something special for him. In her hands she held lists, the first list wrote the things that were already finished. The other had the list of things that needed to be done. The lists were very different in size comparison. Barbie originally came to Covington to be an event planner so she could handle things like this perfectly.
Eve smiled as she read over the list of things, it brought her happiness to see how much effort her friend put in for Dolph. It brought her back to the bus ride up to Boston and the words her and Dolph shared. He had (in a way) admitted that he still had feelings for the all American girl sitting in front of her, now it feels like all the puzzle pieces are finally fitting together.
"So you'll be at the party right?" The blonde smiled as she looked up from all the papers.
"Of course, I wouldn't miss it."
"Great." Barbie smiled brightly, she stood on her own two feet and waked over to the mini fridge next to the door. She observed the bouquet of peach roses sitting on top of the fridge as she grabbed a couple drinks. A smile pursed across her lips while turning her head to Eve.
"Another one? Isn't that the fourth thing of flowers that he's sent over?"
A small smile reached Eve's mouth as she nodded. "Actually, five."
"You my friend, are a miracle worker. You know that boy was never one to send a girl presents, let alone flowers."
"I don't know he's always been different with me… but he's been especially different since Boston. I don't know if it's because he said he loved me or because he was scared he'd lose me but something has definitely changed."
"Maybe a little of both." The blonde shrugged with a faint smile.
"Yeah, maybe… He's just been treating me like a wounded puppy lately just like everyone else and it's just… not what I want."
"What? You don't want flowers?"
"No of course not I love that. I just don't like getting treated as if I'm fragile. You should've saw him last night he wouldn't even let me get my own drink because he didn't want me to get up from my seat."
Barbie raised her eyebrow at her friend and laughed faintly. "You're so independent… You have to realize he's still a little shaken and scared. You didn't see him at the hospital like we did, he was literally broken. It'll pass and he will feel more comfortable sooner or later but for right now enjoy. There's very little people he would wait on and you're luckily one. Plus Mike "The Miz" Mizanin loves somebody. Do you know how big that is?"
Both girls couldn't help but smile at that. Eve couldn't help but smile a little more. Barbie looked her up and down and smirked softly. "You know I haven't asked you yet if you love him back, but I don't even think I have to ask."
The brunette smiled and nodded "No you don't, I'm so in love with him it's honestly gross. So in love my independent self is going to sulk in him pampering me."
A knock approached the front door. Barbie got to her feet and walked out of Eve's small room to the main room when she opened the door in front of her stood the Miz himself. A faint smirk spread across the blondes lips.
"Speak of the devil."
"Devil? Disheartening…yet fitting. Is Eve here?"
"Yes she is." Barbie looked down at the flowers in his hand and had a playful sigh of disgust. "Flowers number 6."
Out of the room came a bronzed women with an amused expression on her face. The first thing her eyes caught were the flowers, her eyebrow raised as she simultaneously let out a smile. "Mike, another? This is getting a little out of hand. I turn for a second and there will be tons of dead flowers parading around my room."
"Actually these aren't from me. I just saw them at your door, maybe there's a note inside or something." The man smiled as he met her halfway, laying a kiss on her cheek in-between sentences.
Eve smiled curiously as she scanned over the plant. Her green eyes skimmed across a tiny folded up piece of white and gold paper.
"You're right." She lifted the paper with her newly manicured hand and read over it. Her smile turned into a blank expression but quickly back into a smile – or a fake smile. Mike noticed her expression and grew curious.
"Who's it from?"
"It doesn't say, strange. I'll put this here and come on, let's go to my room." Eve took a hold of the vase and put it down on the kitchen counter.
"Yeah, you go ahead. I'm just going to grab a quick snack. Want anything?"
"Nope." Eve watched him walk to the fridge, she sighed faintly and left her guard down. As she turned around and walked into her room he glanced at the flowers and took a look at the paper. When he read the name he smirked unamused and put it back in the flowers, he grabbed a water out of the fridge and walked to her room.
Barbie watched him every foot of the way and followed his lead to take a look at the crumbled up piece of paper. Xo Cody it read. A frown came across her face but there was nothing she could really do from this point on, Mike already saw it. Barbie just picked up her purse from the counter top and decided to continue with her party plans.
It was around noon as Dolph Ziggler stood outside AJ Lee's door. His blue eyes stared at the number on her door and took a deep breath to release any stress. Why was he so anxious? Dolph hadn't felt this anxious since the first time Barbie asked him to lunch. He felt his hands begin to tighten and his back begin to tickle.
To be fair this was the first time that Dolph had reached out to AJ after she basically told him to never talk to her again. All he knew was he couldn't just block her existence off the face of the earth anymore, not after what happened in Boston. Life is too damn short to block out the people you love and Dolph definitely did love AJ. Maybe not the way that she loved him but still, it was love.
The man clenched his fist and raised his arm in front of the door. One last time he exhaled before attempting to knock on the door. As he moved his fist forward all it came in contact with was air. To the blondes surprise the door had just been opened and behind it stood what was even more shocking.
Phillip Brooks stood tall with his hand on the other side of the door knob. His jaw dropped softly as he came into eye contact with Dolph's pearly blues. Standing behind the tatted individual was AJ Lee herself, wrapped up in a small towel exposing a lot of skin. It didn't take long for Dolph to catch on to what was happening here.
"I'm sorry to interrupt." The bleach blondes tone grew softer and more fragile. His eyes tucked themselves behind his eyelids quickly as he turned to hurry down the hall.
Embarrassment spread all over the tiny woman. April took a heavy sigh and managed to break through everything in her body telling her to hide underneath the closest bed for a couple hours.
"Dolph! Come back." The feisty Latina spat out from inside her room. Dolph felt the strength in her tone from a few feet away. It wasn't immediate but her friend did manage to make his way into viewpoint.
The two caught eye contact and it was a very strange feeling. The brunette stood there with a heavy stare. April's eyes were almost bugging out of her head as she focused on his features. Her small hands were shaking rapidly – this was the first time anyone has ever caught the two red handed and what was worse was the person that caught them was none other than Dolph…
It's important to highlight the significance in this moment. This was the first time possibly ever that AJ was able to fully stare into the gentlemen's eyes. Every other opportunity fear crept into her mind. Before breaking away from him and meeting Phil she was consistently shy and timid. Not to forget that while AJ was breaking this emotional barrier with Dolph she stood there wrapped in an itty bitty towel. The confidence that this woman now held was remarkable.
"Why'd you come by?" The brunette spoke somewhat aggressively – when in actuality seeing him was truly amazing.
"I wanted to talk but I see you're a little occupied."
"So you're just going to go?"
As Dolph opened his lips to answer her question it seemed to be already answered for him. Phil grabbed his leather jacket from the hook and began to put his arms through the sleeves.
"Nope, he's staying and I'm going. Talk it out you two." Punk pointed at the blonde standing in front of him and winked in a threatening way. This wink spoke volumes and it said "you're going to stay and listen whether you like it or not."
The tatted guy walked out of the room leaving two former BFF's to hash it all out. Dolph glanced at AJ for a second before standing in silence. Why weren't words coming? And why was this so weird? Dolph had never seen AJ with a guy before, it was like watching your little sister have sex. It wasn't pleasant.
"I shouldn't have come."
"Just that quick? You're going to leave just that quick? Seriously?"
"Well coming was hard enough but seeing Punk of all people in here with you just made it weirder! Hey and it also doesn't help that you're so blatantly mad at me."
April crossed her arms in frustration. "Well maybe you should go then."
"I'm planning on it." Dolph spoke while walking to the door. He didn't turn his head to look back, he was on a mission. As the man stormed out leaving AJ in the dust it brought a several emotions upon her. The biggest emotion that she held was how badly she missed her friend.
