Hey guys starting to update more regularly! Hope you guys enjoy a sexy Kidd. Keep on reviewing and reading and I'll try to get back to you guys. ALSO I am a real idiot. I'm not even kidding, because in the earlier chapters where Soul's fangirls who takes pictures of Soul and Maka together was actually WhiteRaven421's idea and I forgot to give her the credit. So I dedicate this chapter to you WhiteRaven421 because of your brilliant idea that sort of inspired this chapter!

Hope that little intro didn't ruin this chapter :)

Enjoy

He was an absolute fool. Utterly and truly an idiot. And the price he had to pay... Well fate had decided to give him a body made of lead. A deep, scratching and scorching fire seemed to have engulf his throat and leave him almost parched 24/7. Sighing loudly because of anger and that his nose was blocked Soul shifted uneasily in his bed, trying to gather as much energy he could muster. He was dying, literally dying, he wondered if his present form was death in person. Coughing thickly into a tissue he spewed out his green mucus and for a fraction of second felt his airways clear then once again blocked by more of mucus. Was it worth this much? Or was this destiny's sign to tell him the consequences of going after his long time sworn enemy and close friend, Maka Albarn.

Either way, his lungs felt as if they were stuffed tightly with cotton wool and he needed to really dispel of the mucus in his body so he could breath normally.

"I am now handing back your science projects, and to my surprise you guys did a better than shit job. You should be proud." Stein's almost foggy glasses still glinted with sadistic glee. The students didn't know whether to be flattered or insulted. He stalked down each row with precision and slowness so he could comment on each group's project. The cigarette smoke seemed to leave a trail of ill-faced students who were more frightened to be praised by Stein rather than be reprimanded.

"I have also seen your dissection patterns on each frog, and I must say I see some future Frankenstein's here" Letting his cigarette hang from the corner for his smile letting the smoke float behind his ear and disappear. Many of the students wished they had that skill in this lab.

"Albarn. Disappointed" Slamming her and Soul's thick project folder in front of her. Even though she tried to steel her face, she was shaking inside. Just as she stepped into his lab 54 minutes ago she knew and he knew that she had forgotten to hand in the final and most important evaluation of their experiment, because of certain reasons, and reasons that Stein would not allow. She was fucked.

Swallowing thickly, she turned her head slowly to face her smoking teacher, hoping that he could see her meekness and allow her general forgetfulness and hoping that he remembered that she was a top student and would hopefully let this small blip slide. Unfortunately fate was not in her hands.

"Expecting a spectacular finish up on your project Albarn. Thoroughly disappointed." More puffs of his cigarette were released, already knowing that his gaze was burning though her confidence and self-esteem. He enjoyed making these kids squirm it really made his day and it got the results he wanted.

"I am extremely sorry sir, I will willingly accept any punishment you decide give." Meekly bowing her head, hoping to God that he would see this as an act of deep sincerity and only give her detention.

"What do you think you should receive has punishment?" "Now the fun has started" Stein chuckled to himself, still puffing his cigarette.

"Err.." Now she was breaking a light sweat over such a simple question. "Come Albarn use that brain!" She forced herself, she knew that if she said "nothing" she would receive a harsher punishment than needed but if she supplied a difficult punishment she would effectively have punished herself.

"Come on Albarn, I haven't got all day and neither do the class"

"Err write up the evaluation and do the extra credit work?" She quietly suggested.

"Oh, I was gonna give you detention for a week but if you say so, then do so." He tried not to laugh, but Maka's annoyed/surprised face had made him almost drop his cigarette.

"That is a fair enough punishment Albarn. You and Evans will write up your final evaluation and do the extra credit work as your detention."

"But Sir.. Soul is off sick, can't I just write it myself?"

"Albarn what did I say at the start of this project. The entire project will be done together by the two partners and your partner being ill is not an exception. You have until this Thursday to hand it in. " Today was Monday. Fuck Karma.

Maka knew that if she protested she would probably end up doing trash duty and she had better things to do than pick up lazy people's unwanted belongings.

"Yes sir" in a defeated tone.

"Ha!" A random triumphant call was made.

"I wouldn't be too happy, Oxford. Their work was still top of the class. Your work was just above the standard. I wouldn't be too proud" Stein scolded him deftly and swiftly, walking up the row, still leaving trails of smoke.

Maka came armed with soup and her school bag. She felt a little guilty since she had actually found out that Soul wasn't even in school today until Liz pointed it out to her before lunch. Well in a warped way it was perfect timing, he was down at his weakest and he would have to take the bad news whether he liked it or not. And it wasn't as if he could physically fight back, since he was bedridden, she hoped. Hopping off the bus she walked up a familiar redbrick road and and had to almost hike up the Evan's smooth yet incredibly steep driveway and around their very noticeable fountain. Picking up the brass knocker with her slim fingers she knocked 3 times with even time distributions between each knock.

"Miss Maka please make your way through"

"Thanks Daisy."

"Should I take Miss Maka's coat?"

"No don't worry Daisy, I won't be long. But I've brought soup for him."

"Many thanks Miss Maka, I'm sure Mister Soul will enjoy it thoroughly, knowing you brought it for him, Miss Maka." The young maid grasped the bag and scurried away into the kitchen, grinning. She enjoyed it when Maka came over to see Soul, she was a young fangirl, liked to be swept away with romance and enjoyed watching other unsuspecting couples too, it was her favorite past time.

"Mister Soul is starting to show signs of recovery, he's not coughing so heavily but he is still heavily bed-ridden. The doctor says it's not contagious but Mister Soul's body needs a bit longer to recover so do not be afraid Miss Maka." Daisy led her up the winding staircase, across a well decorated and well lit hallway to a familiar wooden door with a gold handle. It reflected Maka and Daisy's face in a sort of contorted fashion.

"Please enter when you wish Miss Maka" Daisy bowed and left, smiling again. She was going downstairs to grab a glass tumbler.

Maka always felt a little uncomfortable within the Evan's household. The formal, classy atmosphere and here she was in ragged jeans, cheap store bought faded t-shirt and scuffed converses. Once again Soul or maybe his family had made her feel inadequate, but then again Soul's parent's weren't home so she needn't feel so uncomfortable. Making sure her nerves were locked in concrete, she pushed down the handle with careful forcefulness and stepped inside.

It was sweltering in here. How could anyone sustain in this heat? How was the wall paint not melting under this heat? Maka pulled off her cardigan, discarding it on her chair. Wow first time she's in a guy's bedroom and she was already stripping. She and Soul's fangirls already have a common hobby.

"Soul?" Maka walked carefully towards the mass of blankets that seemed to be shuffling ever so slightly.

*Cough cough*

"Soul?" Maka pulled up his desk chair and sat by his bed, sweating a little. Thankful that her top was a tank top and so her under armpit sweat wouldn't show up.

"Y-yeah" Holy shit he sounded as if he inhaled Stein's entire Cigarette stash and set it alight, his voice was so dry and cracked. He turned his neck, his cheek hitting the silky pillow case. Red rubies gazed lazily upon her figure, as if registering her into his mind.

"Maka?"

"Y-yeah. I heard you were sick." Damnit Albarn pull it together. It's Soul the guy who insults you, stop becoming a love-sick fool!

"Mhmm. Running the- *COUGH*" Soul's body seemed to seize up right in front of Maka's eyes and she couldn't believe it. She thought she wouldn't be too effected by seeing him in this state, but now she felt even guiltier that she had even thought of that.

"Running where?"

"Rain."

"You ran in the rain?"

"Yup" Nodded, swallowing thickly, his eyes still gazed up at Maka, unblinkingly.

"Odd thing to do." Maka was astounded, why on earth would Soul run in the rain? Was he doing climate training for running in rainy countries?

"Soul, when you get better err-" It was like trying to shoot a baby deer, difficult and the subject was always moving and fleeting, jumping away from her.

"Doctor says I can come back on Wednesday."

"That's great then we have time to do Stein's detention" No better way than saying it bluntly right?

"Detention?"

"Because you were absent and I had my own problems to deal with and we both forgot to write up our final evaluation" Why did she feel as she if she was telling him he was dying?

"Okay, we'll do it together." Still gazing at Maka with a half dead-panned look. As if he was waiting for her to bring up that she was marrying Kim Soo Hyun and divorcing Beyonce.

"You're okay with this?" trying to hold back her skepticism.

"We have no other choice"

"You sure you can still come back on Monday?" Standing up to place her palm on his forehead, trying to determine he had a fever or if the room temperature was too high and making him delirious. Soul seemed to entirely relax, letting her slightly cooler but clammy hand press on his forehead. She seemed to be Harry Potter because the way his breathing became relaxed it was almost like magic.

"Mmm"

"Soul?" Maka crouched down, she still held her hand on his blazing hot forehead but it wasn't uncomfortable. In fact it was quite comfortable. Perching herself on his bed by his arm she sat quietly, not knowing what to say now. Looking at Soul's slightly waxy complexion, in a strange sense became calm. Wow.. she really needed to start looking some hot guys on the internet because she knew being attracted to candle was healthy. Pushing back his fringe, she was copying what they did in the movies and somehow felt this was appropriate, and planted a small kiss on his slightly sweaty forehead. Soul was no Aaron Taylor Johnson, but it was kind of sweet that he mewled like a cat and rolled onto his side when she pulled her hand away to leave.

Maybe they both had medication today. Ruffling her hair she quietly shut the door and let herself out, picking up her school bag on the way out.

(Fast forwarding to Wednesday afternoon)

Doomsday had finally arrived.

Maka faceplanted the lockers as the all the happy students were leaving for home.

Today was a terrible day. Crappy lessons, even crappier people she had to work with and she had no one to rant at because they were busy or she was avoiding with great skill. Trudging along she literally carried her project folder on her head as walked into the detention hall. Luckily no one else except Soul was in there. Looked like the students were on their best behavior this week.

"Albarn"

"Evans"

It was strange, whenever she was called Albarn she felt her defensiveness rise by at least 60x more than needed.

"So let's do this as quick as possible." Maka sat on his right hand side and popped open the folder in front of him, efficiently allocating her pencil case.

"Are you really going to ignore this?"

"W-what?" Maka slowed herself. No. No. Today was not the day. Could she blame it on the heat of his bedroom?

"I guess you are, quick to get somewhere?" Using that same tone that Maka heard him use only 90% of his life.

"Soul. Please can we do our work and move on." Hoping her pleading would work, slightly pouting a little.

Fuck

"That tone is real dangerous Maka." Soul joked, which was quite an achievement since his heart jumped into his throat.

"What?"

Was she also deaf?

"Nothing. I'm sure you're just eager to get to someone" Soul couldn't help it. During his illness he kept replaying the kiss, and fantasizing about the after effects, and he was pretty sure one of them came true.

"For fucks sake Soul. There is nothing going on between me and Kidd" Comprehending completely what he was imply and was so mad her favorite pencil broke. The splintered wood covering the table top and chunks of lead shattering. "As well as there is nothing going on between me and you. Why can you, Kidd and the rest of the fucking world understand that? Is it so hard to for a guy and girl to be friends?" Maka stood up, her eyes glaring down at Soul in earnest. She wasn't mad, she was frustrated and a little confused. God damn, he wish he didn't have these feelings, he hated himself and how he acted around Maka, but it was all programmed into him. However he loved the way Maka made his whole body set alight, it was almost intoxicating.

"Are you sure there is nothing between us?" Maybe he was crazy, of course he was. Miss Maka Albarn could not and would not have any feelings for him, even if she was given the choice to rot in hell or have feelings for Soul she would pick Hell a hundred times over.

"Y-yeah" Damn it why did I stutter? I clearly don't, we're just strange friends who have a weird relationship.

"You sure about that?"

"Yeah, you want me to prove it to you?"

"Actually yes. Prove it."

"If it will deflate that massive ego then fine." Regretting that she showed her weakness when he was ill. Maybe he was faking, then again that would be a lot of effort taken to feign illness.

Without warning Maka pulled up Soul so he sat just on the table edge, his palms flat against the table top holding his balance as he was taken by surprise. His legs seemed to widen to accommodate Maka's waist, as she had nestled herself within him. Apparently the closeness and skinship was necessary in this case and Soul was damned thankful. He forgot how soft and small she was. She was barely above his shoulder, and he had to lean down so she wouldn't have to stretch to far up.

Why did she fall into her own self made trap again? She finally caught herself as she faced Soul's shirt, feeling his warm body heat on her cheek. It felt good, enjoying how his legs were wrapping themselves around her legs. This all felt so good, but maybe because of familiarity? Her whole body was engulfed in this warm heady fire, her hands latched on his shoulders. However she was still a beginner at this and embarrassment still caught her. Fixating her gaze on the blackboard.

There is nothing between us. Nothing.

Shuffling uncomfortable, her hips moved so she could balance her weight on her legs, which made Soul gasp and groan, as if he was winded. Shuffling closer she could feel his rock hard chest, with his muscles rippling, enjoying the feel. Closing her eyes as her mind wanted to imprint that feeling so she could have it forever. Moving slowly, her nose brushed his shoulder, her mouth dry as she sort of wiped any remaining saliva on his t-shirt, unintentionally. Her nose had reached his ear, but because he was so tall she had to press herself further into him and go onto her tip toes, her lips barely touching his neck.

"Fuck Maka don't tease"
