A/N: Before this starts, I would recommend reading the end of chapter 17. That could clear some up about the Blackquil angle. Thanks!
Blackquil got out of his car, and faced the detention center. That vanilla folder that he had received had itached him for quite sometime, and he wanted to see what was up with it. Blackquil did his usual drill. He walked inside, and asked to see Ms. Belladonna. Normally, a lawyer would have to say on what grounds. But for him, his intemidation to the gaurds was enough to let him in, even though he wasn't a real killer.
Blackquil walked into the booth, and waited for Mrs. Belladonna. While he was waiting, he waited to see what the case file had said.
Blake Belladonna: 17 years old. Accused of murder.
Evidence against her:
-Her Sword
-The "White Fang Justice" Angle
-Project 56
The last piece surprised Blackquil a bit. Of course, through his jail time, he had heard about project 57, but not 56. "This is a more interesting case than what meets the eye..." Blackquil murmured to himself, as he looked over the details of the case.
The accused and partner, Sun Wukong, was watching a abuse of a fellow faunus, Velvet Scarlentina take place. After they had enough, they attacked them. According to Sun's account, he saw Blake run into the forrest. What happened in there was only knowledge to Blake herself. After her and her prey had run out into the field, she took a rop-
"Ahem." A voice said that was infront of him. Blackquil looked up to see a woman sitting there. He could only assume that it was Ms. Belladonna. Blackquil, not even fazed, put the folder down, giving all his attention to Ms. Belladonna.
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Simon Blackquil, and I am a prosecutor."
"Oh, and what do you want?" Blake snapped back.
"I know that you didn't do it." Blackquil came out and said immediately.
"How can you be so sure?" Blake questioned.
"...Did you kill him or not?" Blackquil put bluntly.
"...Right now, I don't even know..." Blake put her head down, wrestling with herself in her mind.
"Allow me to help then. As I assume, that Justice boy and Athena were your defendants, right?"
"Y-yes... and...?"
"I am like Ms. Cykes, in the fact that I am a psychological attorney. I had studied with her mother, so I know most of the tricks of the trade."
"And how's that supposed to help me?" Blake put her head up. Blackquil had finally got to her attention.
"Okay, first, I assume you have a headache, correct?"
"Y-yeah..."
"Okay, I want you to do this: think of where is your headache. Don't answer, just think of where it is." He saw Blake close her eyes, and concentrate on it for a moment. "Okay, now, what color is it?" Blake turned her head to an angle, as though she was trying to communicate 'What's the point of this' with her head. But, she listened to them none the less. "Okay, now where is it?" Blake did as she was told again, concentrating on it.
He asked her those 3 questions about 3 times. "Feel better yet?" Blackquil asked softly.
"Actually, much better! How-"
"You get to learn a lot when you learn psychology under Mrs. Cykes. This was her method of treating headaches with Athena, and some of her more crazy patients."
"Hey- I'm not crazy!" Blake instantly felt insulted.
"I'm not saying you were. I was just using an example. Now, can we talk about what you remember?"
"I... I guess..." Blake agreed.
"Okay, if you hit a headache, I want you to stop and ask the same 3 questions."
"Okay, give me a moment, then." Blake closed her eyes, breathing slowly, concentrating. Somin sat back in his chair, scooting it back ever so slightly that it wouldn't make a noise. "Okay, I'm ready. So Sun already told what happened before then in his testimony, so I'll go on from there. I chased this guy into the forrest. I felt... angry for some reason. Normally, we would let them go, but with him, I... I don't know. But, I was chasing him. When I had finally caught up to him, we got to- Argh!"
Blake yelled out in pain as Blackquil kncocked his chair to the ground, making a large bang along with it. Blackquil opened the door, and grabbed the man that was just outside the door. Unfortunatly, Blackquil's hold came loose, and the aparent man behind the door threw a punch. Blackquil shielded it away with his forarm, moving the trjectory of the oncoming fist just over his shoulder. Blackquil rebutted by punching him in the stoumach, to which the intruder doubled over himself. As he bent, a small white box looking object fell out of his other hand. As the police finally came to Blackquil's aid, he picked up the small recorder without drawing attention to himself. He slipped it into his pocket, and went back to Blake, who was still recovering.
Elsewhere...
Athena and Apollo nearly collapsed into his apartment. The long trial and ordeal, mixed in with an almost as long flight, that included almost lost luggage, had finally come to an end-for them, at least. Apollo groaned as he crawled up to the couch, while Athena sat in a chair perpendicular to it. Athena looked at Apollo with some concern- Whatever happened in that courtroom had really impacted Apollo. He only spoke a few words out of his vocabulary, which most were a "Please" and "Thank You".
Athena watched as Apollo reached for the remote, his coat now off of his shoulders. "Apollo?" She asked. Apollo looked at her, waiting for the question, not wanting to speak. "What happened in there? One second you were fine, and the next you were-"
"Save it, Athena." Apollo finally snapped at her. "I don't want to talk about it."
Athena's eyes darted at the antenna-haird lawyer, "Okay; First of all: I am not your mom, but I want to be spoken to in a respectable tone. Second, I'm your friend, not just a co-worker. I expect you to talk to me about what is up, or I'm going to have to beat it out of you."
"And how are you going to do that, huh?" Athena quickly ate those words as Athena, as crafty as Odysseus, grabbed a nearby umbrella. "A-and what? That's supposed to scare me? Ha ha... ha..." Apollo then became fearful for his life as she expanded the umbralla. "...mother!" he whimpered as she slowly walked towards him.
Elsewhere...
"We hadn't heard from form Apollo nor Athena at all..." Ruby said, a concerned look on her face. The 4 girls were back at there dorm, with Blake being substituted for a day with Trucy.
"I wonder what had happened..." Yang thought aloud, a sad look covering her face. Trucy looked between the two, not really ever being in a position like this one, with 2 sad stranger/friends across from each other.
"I'm sure she's fine; Apollo and Athena are good attorneys. They are always serious, and so kind to eachother, I'm sure they did great!" What Trucy didn't hear is Apollo's screams of agony from an umbrella. But, she did hear a yell from someone familiar. Shivers went down all of their body's once they heard it, like they all got goosebumps from a cold breeze...
Then, Weiss slammed the door open. "I CAN'T BELEIVE THIS!" She yelled, almost bursting everyone's ear drums.
"Calm down, will ya? We don't want our windows broken." Yang Asked, covering her ears.
"S-sorry... But this is not exeptable, not at all!" Weisse threw a paper, which was intead for Ruby, at Trucy instead. Trucy caught it, and began reading it, saying the important details to the girls in the room:
"Blake Belladonna court case ends day 1, as a almost-guilty verdict... The announced prosecutor, Joseph Schnee," Weiss stomped her foot down, signaling this as the part she was angry at, "had the defense on the ropes. Once the judge was about to give a guilty verdict, the prosecutor struck a deal with the defense: The court will continue IF defense attorney Phoenix Wright takes the case in place of his 2 pupils. This will be the first time ever that Phoenix and Joseph had met in a court case."
Once Trucy had finished, an awkward feeling entered the room. On the dark side, their friend had almost been presumed guilty, but, on the bright side, Mr. Wright would now take charge of the defense! Ruby just layed back on her bed, and Yang burried her face in a pillow. Weiss had stomped out of the room again, ranting about her father. That just left Trucy, in the middle of it all. She just stood there, not sure what to do. She took another look at the newspaper, and began reading it.
Elsewhere...
"And that's all I can remember." Blake finished.
"Okay, let's re-track: Once you got to the big tree, you turned the corner, and tackled him to the ground, knocking him unconcious. Then, after wondering around, you found yourself back at the tree, the man still unconcious. Then, all of the sudden, you were being taken away from the police. Correct?"
"Unfortunatly, yes." Blake confessed to Blackquil. This made him curious.
"Do you think that... there could be parts of this that are locked out of your brain?" Before Blake could answer, a man walked through the door on Blackquil's side.
"And that's why I'm here." Blackquil saw the fear come back instantly to Blake's eyes, and, using that and the voice, knew exactly who it was.
"Ah, it's been a while, Mr. Schnee."
"Yes it has, Simon. Say, how's your chess skills?"
"Before we talk about that," Blackquil stood up, and turned to face him, reaching in his pocket, "Why did you send someone to tape our conversation?"
"Bah! By whatever do you mean?" The prosecutor asked.
"Stop hiding, coward! Why. Did. You. Send. Him?" Blackquil foced out, anger fueling his words while keeping a stone hard face.
"And by me, I think you mean the White Fang, no?" The prosecutor suggested. Blackquil took a moment to out 2 and 2 together to get 4, and when he had, his anger elevated.
"So, you cut a deal? With the WHITE FANG?"
"Oh, them? Why, yes. They hired me instead of you. And, it sure is a handsom ammount of cash."
"And a personal servant that can do your bidding?"
"Hmm... you can say that, yes." The prosecutor said with a devilish smile.
"Besides, what point do you have in coming here?" Blackquil questioned.
"I was going to do what you were doing, only better. I want to jog her memory."
"Hmm... last time I checked, anyone that visited had to wait until the current visitor left."
"Oh, but they changed that."
"Wha- Changed it? But how?"
"Oh, it's a special rule; only those with special clearence can enter." Blackquil knew that he was getting kicked out, and was powerless about it. And he couldn't speak to Blake, as this could get him sent to jail.
"Now, if you excuse me, I-"
"I believe that exception works, unless it's the defense attorney." Prosecutor Schnee's face changed from a devilish one, to of one with anger. He knew who that voice belonged to.
"So we finally get to meet, Phoenix Wright." The prosecutor turned around, and stood eye to eye with the new defense attorney.
"Now, if you excuse ME, I have to talk with my client." Phoenix shot at him.
"Fine. I'l see you in court tomorrow. Tick tock, Mr. Wright. Tick. Tock." And with that, Prosecutor Schnee left the cell. Phoenix waited until he was out of earshot to say anything.
"Did he do anything to-"
"No no, Mr. Wright. I made sure he didn't affect her." Blackquil offered the defense attorney the chair, and headed out the door.
"Mr. Blackquil." Blackquil turned, to see what the defense attorney had to say. "Stay here; I could use your help to comfort her."
"As you wish." Blackquil leaned against one of the walls of the cell, helping Mr. Wright question Blake.
