Hope you all enjoyed Halloween the other day, guys! And this fic is more than a year old, so that's fun! Sadly, we are nearing the end of this fic, but it had to come sometime. Stay gold, guys, it's been quite a ride. Those who know the old tv show Are you Afraid of The Dark might recognize similarities between the Machine and the Fear Machine in one of their episodes, The Tale of The Dangerous Soup.
...
Oogie strode over to a metal door, and the robots followed, dragging me along. It looked like something out of an insane asylum. " I call this little doohickey The Machine. With the bug brain I created, Dr. Finkelstein was happy to make it for me. What it does, you'll soon find out." He picked up two die, and shook them before throwing them in my face. I didn't say anything, just gave him a look of pure venom. Below me my necklace faintly glowed red. For anger.
"Throw her in!"
The door swung open, and I was chucked face first into semi-darkness. Before I could get up I heard the door slam. "Looks like I won the jackpot, brat!" I ran to the door, banging my fist on it. "LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT!"
Then, i heard a funny sound behind me. It sounded like a fog machine, but i seriously doubted they had fog machines in Halloween town. Slowly, I turned around, and let out a gasp of horror. There was fog, but what scared me the most was the giant hairy spider in the center of it. If any of you remember Aragog, this was exactly like him, only with red eyes and a much scarier look to him.
For a moment, all I could do was stare in utter terror at him, not moving a muscle. Then the thing snapped its pincers and charged at me. I screamed, and ran out of the way, trying to stay away from it.
...
The scream rang throughout the lair, scaring away the bats and making Jack's blood run cold. "What are you doing to her?!"
"The Machine makes you live out your worst fear. By the time she comes out, the little brat will be reduced to a trembling little bunny. Not even YOU can outlive this machine. Nothing's gonna stand in my way now!" He cackled gleefully. "The only problem will be seeing which one of you goes next!"
Thumping came from the Machine, and Jack could only hope that Millie would turn out all right.
...
The game of cat and mouse had gone on for a couple of minutes, and by now my fear had only increased, as i was fighting a losing battle. Because of the small space, there wasn't anywhere for me to run. As the 'game' went on, the giant arachnid had only gotten bigger as i grew more terrified.
When I dodged it's charge once more, I became off balanced and fell into a corner of the room. Instantly, the spider blocked me off, with no way out. I cowered, bringing my knees up to my chest as I shrank away from it. I buried my face into my knees, and saw the red glow coming from my locket. I had completely forgotten it in my incarceration and spider battle, and seeing it now comforted me. My fear lost, I lifted up my head and slowly uncurled from my terrified position as the red shifted back into an aqua blue light. Right then, I knew I could count on it to give me the strength and courage I needed. The energy from the necklace flowed through me, and I stood up, looking right at the spider. Now it was it's turn to shrink back, and I backed it up to the metal door. I drew my hand back, and a ball of bright blue energy appeared in it. I flung it forward with all my might, turning the now small spider back to fog and blowing the door to the other side of the room.
...
Without warning, a giant explosion blew the door to the other side of the room. Everyone's eyes grew to saucers, looking from the door to the shadowy entrance of the machine, not sure what they would find. Millie appeared in the doorway, her eyes glowing blue, and holding what looked like a glowing blue fireball.
"THIS CAN'T BE POSSIBLE! GET HER, YOU FOOLS! IMMEDIATELY!" Oogie shrieked, and the robots ran at her, drawing their weapons. She didn't even wince, but used her new-found power to take them out one by one, and when she was done, they all were lying at her feet in pieces. She turned toward Oogie, and smirked. "You, my friend, are screwed."
She unleashed the blue energy, and Oogie disappeared screaming in a blinding flash of light.
Okay, the climax totally does not belong in a NMBC story, that's what I get from leaving this fandom for so long. No flames, and hope you liked!
