Hey it's been a long while since I've touched this story, um I'm kind of amazed people still read it. This story…it stopped 'cause it wasn't going where I wanted it. I felt I had messed up my own character and the story was poorly done. I guess since people like it I'll try and keep it up. Um, I will say if it doesn't pan I might just scrap it and restart it but I'll try not to do that. All I can say is that reviews are love, all shout outs are welcomed and I hope everyone enjoys.

Jason landed in the middle of the warehouse district, emerald aura ablaze around him as he slowly circled around. Yellow energy literally wafted like fog through the area. The teenaged Lantern cursed to himself, he knew of only one Yellow Lantern who could radiate power like that. Jason created a pair of massive energy gloves and slammed his hands together, dispersing the miasma. "Slade, show yourself!" roared Jason to the cleared area.
Slade appeared on the roof of one of the warehouses. "Construct, it seems you've been restored, somewhat. Come to test your luck again, this time your friends won't save you."
Jason whirled about, two jade revolvers in his hands. "Where is he Slade!? No way you could have made this much power on your own, where is he!?" Slade leaned forward, a grin hidden under his mask.
"Whoever do you mean?" questioned the one eyed villain.
Jason fired. An emerald bolt of power grazed Slade's mask, almost faster than the villain could summon his shield. "I won't ask again," warned the teenager.
"Who is that I hear?" called a new voice.
Jason's eyes narrowed as he turned to the voice. "Nero," he hissed. A figure covered in sickly yellow rose up from the ground; a blue coat covered his lean body, a mane of red hair streamed from his head. Jason dropped his blasters as he squared himself in front of this new Lantern. "Alexander Nero, favored adopted son of Qward. There's a dozen warrants out for your arrest Nero. Surrender your ring, and come along peacefully."
Nero looked up, his thin face dripping with yellow parasites. "A lantern, so shiny, shiny, shiny, shiny. And green. I don't like green. Hmm…you're not him. You're not Kyle, so sad. I wanted to fight a real Lantern. To envelope them in my beautiful holy light."
Jason stiffened, then his eyes narrowed. "You're coming with me Nero." He took a step toward the crazed Yellow Lantern. Then flew back.
"You will not touch me! I have the powers of a god you pathetic mortal!" screeched Nero. "Arrest me!? I am a cosmic force! I cannot be defeated by the likes of you!" Nero's power flared around him, the yellow energy dominating the whole area.
Jason picked himself up, wiping the blood from his cut jaw. "Ok, let's do this the hard way." His own green power burst out around him. With a wild roar, Construct thundered forward.
The two Lanterns fought in the middle of the dock, light spilling from both men. Jason fought with vicious tenacity and hand held constructs. Nero watched from afar as he sent wave after wave of monsters to do his bidding. Of the two, Nero was the more creative; his monsters constantly changed, and more often than not forced Jason to react defensively more than offensively. But the younger Green Lantern refused to be defeated by a mad man with a yellow ring. Construct created a squad of green army men, and unleashed them on the monsters, the WWII soldiers actually pushing Nero's monsters back. More soldiers, from all across history began to spring up as Jason pressed forward.
Nero actually looked thrilled as the green light constructs closed in on him. He smiled even. Then the world exploded in yellow. Jason screamed, he felt power ripped out of him as Nero harness more yellow light to vaporize Jason's army. The Green Lantern staggered back as new yellow creatures sprang up around Nero. "That was good, impressive even. But it is hopeless, die, wallowing in beautiful fear, knowing I will spread this fear across the world, my legacy will be built on the charred bones of Green Lanterns, starting with you and your beautiful partner."
Jason's eyes widen, then narrowed as he stood up. He summoned up deep reserves of light, reciting the Green Lantern oath in his head as he sculpted the power, then a massive missile appeared in his hand. "Build your legacy on this!" roared Jason as he fired the bomb. Green energy exploded everywhere, vaporizing all of Nero's constructs. Jason staggered back, gasping for air. "Now stay down you prick!"
Nero struggled to stand. "Fool! I am a god, you cannot defeat me!" A golden great sword appeared in his hands. He leaned on it as he pushed himself up. "This is my Excalibur, I will make a new Camelot, a new Eden! Where all will gaze on my glory!"
Jason formed two emerald sabers. "Not today!" The two charged forward and clashed again.
As the pair fought, Slade watched from the roof, intrigued. "Remarkable, Nero is a living weapon. If I unleash him on the city, he might wipe out all the Titans. Hmm, but his power cannot be controlled, but…if I could obtain his power. Then" The villain cut off his thoughts as he felt a new presence.
"You are the criminal Slade," said Laira as she landed near him.
Slade nodded as he cocked his head to the side. "You're Construct's partner. Well then," Slade's hand snapped up, gun in it. Laira leapt back, shield up as yellow blasts flew through the air. Laira landed and powered forward, sword in hand. Slade made one for himself and met Laira's charge. The two clashed in a shower of sparks, dueling around each other. "You're a master fighter, excellent!" Slade grinned to himself as he began to fall into the familiar rhythm of a personal duel, contemplating how he could use this turn of events to his advantage.
Nero's powered flowed out from him like waves, buffeting Jason as the younger Lantern struggled to keep up with the schizophrenic. Alexander Nero created by the weaponers of Qward to answer for Kyle Rayner, the most imaginative person to ever done a ring. Nero's psychosis gave his imagination free reign, combined with the ring; Nero was a fearsome Yellow Lantern. More than that, his ring was of an older style, it could reach out and absorb a Green Lantern's energy, literally leeching away a Lantern's willpower as he overwhelms them with fear.
But, while Jason lacked the raw imagination of his artist friend, he made up for it with pure determination. Jason's sabers clashed again and again with Nero's sword, all the while, green samurai struggled against terrifying yellow monsters. More than that, Jason had one advantage no Lantern could hope to equal. Construct understood his ring in ways very few lanterns did. Because of his natural powers, it took very little concentration to use constructs. That evened the playing field. While his were nowhere near as creative or complex, they spawned just as fast. Soldiers from history fought monsters as Jason and Nero dueled in the center of a maelstrom of energy. The battle lit the sky in alternating flashes of gold and jade as the two men fought. "Enough!" screamed Nero. His aura exploded, it destroyed all the remaining constructs and shot Jason through the wall of a warehouse.
Jason staggered out of the rubble. "Fucking…damn." He struggled to his feet as he stared at Nero. The monster wasn't exactly pristine, but he didn't look nearly as exhausted as Jason felt. Still. A green sword appeared in Construct's hand as he stepped towards Nero. Then he heard a scream, and looked to his left. Laira and Slade were fighting, and Laira was bleeding. Construct's eyes narrowed, and became a dark shade of crimson. Jason's aura transformed into a raging inferno of red. He stepped out of the wrecked wall; a fiery red sword appeared in one hand. "This ends now Nero, you're done!"
Nero chuckled. "Fool, I'm invincible, you cannot win!"
Jason smirked. "You're the fool." With a wild charge, Jason attacked again. When the two Lanterns clashed again, there was definite change. Nero, who had more power throughout the first fight, seemed on the defensive. Jason's red energy literally ate away at Nero's gold, punching through just about everything. Jason dropped all pretenses to using constructs; instead he simply wielded the swords in his hands and nothing else. Jason fought like a demon possessed, his body twisted in almost impossible angles as the red light of rage empowered his every move. Against Rage, Fear will forever be at the disadvantage.
Jason hacked and slashed his way through all the monsters before finally confronting Nero himself. The yellow aura clad terror raised a great golden sword, only it never struck. Jason shoulder checked into Nero and bashed the two pommels of his sabers into Nero's head. Followed by a swift knee to his gut and finally, an elbow to his nose. Nero sank to the ground; Jason slammed another kick into his head. Nero collapsed. Jason spat on him. "Slade!" roared the red energy user. Jason summoned a red cage to hold the captive psychopath then charged toward the assassin.
The next thing Slade knew, Jason was there, flowing around his partner as the two attacked Slade together. One on one, Slade had the advantage. His enhancements, coupled with his experience, made him one of the best fighters on Earth, with a power ring, anyone would be hard pressed to match him. But the fight was no longer one on one, and more than that, his opponents had spent the last year perfecting their team work. Jason and Laira moved like a well-oiled machine, one would attack, the other would defend. It was almost perfect. Laira used a spear while Jason kept his katana and wakizashi.
Together they drove Slade backwards toward the water. The master assassin finally got tired of using weapons. He dropped a yellow smoke bomb and launched into the air, twin submachine guns in hand. Only Jason was right on him. The two traded shots in the sky, almost dog fighting in the air. Meanwhile Laira created a bow and had notched an arrow to it. She took a deep breath and fired. The emerald arrow streaked through the sky and hit Slade square in the chest, a cord of rope attached to it. It stunned the assassin long enough for Jason to barrel into him. "This is over!" roared the teenager as he smashed a vicious elbow into Slade's mask. Laira began to pull the rope as Jason pummeled Slade.
Jason was a blood mad beast, and in the close quarters, Slade's power could not match the red light. As the pair descended, Jason continued to attack, battering Slade into submission. Not that it was easy. Slade was till the better combatant, but Jason's power was unmatched, his red energy festered around him like an open wound, sucking in both Laira's and Slade's energy. It was destroying everything. By the time they reached the ground, Laira's power was all but depleted and Slade's was gone. The master Assassin could barely stand as Jason continued to attack him, determined to put an end to the villain once and for all.
"Jason! Jason that is enough!" shouted Laira as Slade's costume returned to its usual form, his ring completely drained. Jason didn't care. Slade struggled to keep up with Jason, he was the better fighter but it was clear who was going to win. "Jason stop!" screamed Laira.
That's when Jason was encased in purple crystals. Laira's head shot up to see Starfire, cloaked in violet light, descending from the sky, a frown on her face. "Jaydite, remove Slade from the vicinity, I shall deal with friend Construct." For once, Laira did not argue. She made a pair of green manacles, though they were more of a formality than anything. Slade could barely stand, his costume was in tatters and his mask was half destroyed. With Slade in tow, Laira flew off heading for the police station. Meanwhile Jason struggled in the violet crystal cage, his red energy starting to crack through the prison. Starfire landed in front of her friend, her heart heavy. "Construct, please, this is not you." Jason snarled as he struggled. Starfire approached her hands out. "Friend you must calm your rage, the battle is won, for now. You cannot continue this way."
Jason roared and the crystals shattered. His breath was ragged as he stumbled out of the crystal prison. Starfire took a defensive stance, just in case. But Jason took a step towards her then collapsed. Starfire appeared in front of him, catching the teen. "Well fought brother, well fought." Sirens sounded in the distance. Starfire created a pair of violet restraints for Nero, who still hadn't stirred.
"You can let go Star," murmured Jason.
Starfire squeaked as she almost dropped Jason. "Brother you are awake!"
The Lantern nodded as he leaned back. He looked at Nero and his eyes flashed. Green restraints were added to Starfire's violet ones. "You're a natural with that ring, your prison got through my rage. My body had to reboot basically." He sounded normal, but Construct looked haggard. He squatted over Nero; a green syringe appeared in his hand. "This construct is filled with a specially designed drug cocktail, tailored made especially for our friend here," he said before Starfire could question the Green Lantern. The alien princess nodded as she stood to the side. "Where did Laira take Slade?"
Starfire shrugged. "Away, more than that I do not know. It is for the best, friend we all thought your rage was under control. Your ring…I thought." Jason held his hand up, his ring was darker.
"Over loaded it, it's gonna take a little while for my ring to equal out again, so best not to be around me for a while," he answered.
Starfire shook her head. "You cannot be alone friend, we have missed you terribly so, come home with me, the others are worried."
Jason sighed as he turned away. "I thought I was good, thought I had everything together, and a few days here, and that goes out the fucking window. Or, who the hell am I kidding, I wouldn't be home if I had it together," muttered the teenager Lantern.
"Friend, all that has happened, you…you create it. You are like the lost warriors of Tamaranian, those who know nothing but war and pain. Who can no longer distinguish friend from foe and attack all equally," whispered Starfire.
Jason froze, his shoulders tense, his glow around him, but then his shoulders slumped and the light disappeared. "I know. I create my own problems. I'm gonna send for Lanterns, have them take this piece of shit to a Scion cell on Oa."
"And then?" asked Starfire.
Jason could only shrug. He looked up at the sky. "Best get back Star, I'll be along in a bit." Starfire looked hesitant, but after another prompting by Jason she flew off. Jason sighed as he squatted down next to Nero. "It's a bad thing that'd I prefer your company over a girl who I look at as family." Nero's head just lolled to the side. "But then again you're quiet so who knows. Ring contact Guy Gardner."
A small green hologram appeared. "Hey kid, you're looking good, what's up?" asked Guy.
Jason hauled Nero's head up. "I think this is why Yellow Lanterns are popping up. The Quardians super charged Nero, and Slade was feeding off of it."
The hologram spat. "Damn, ok, John and Kyle are on their way to collect sleeping beauty there, just sit tight alright?" Jason nodded. "Ok kid, over and out." The image disappeared, leaving the teenager alone. Jason stared down at his unconscious opponent and sighed.
As time dragged on, Jason paced, he thought over the events of the recent past. He knew he was acting erratic, he also knew something was seriously wrong with him. But what it was, he didn't know. After two hours, green light filled the sky.
John and Kyle landed on the wharf, Kyle whistled. "It looked like you had a fun time here." Jason didn't bother to speak. He merely handed Nero over.
"Where's Laira?" asked John.
Jason shrugged. "Don't know, haven't bothered to look. Last I checked she was dragging Slade away. Track her energy I guess."
Kyle stepped closer to his friend, surprised by the haggard look in the teen's eyes, or the apparent lack of care in his voice over his partner. "Jay, you ok?"
Jason stared at the older Lantern before shaking his head. "No, no I'm not. And I don't know why. Well Nero's all yours. I'll be going." Jason flew off before either man could stop him.
