A/N: I think I'm taking a risk with this. In the beginning, I wondered how I was going to ever conclude this story, and now that I have an idea, I hop that you are all okay with it as well believe in the plot I came up with. The myths/legends are entirely made up and just something I would try in hopes that would be different and just as entertaining. *Crosses Fingers*

Chapter Twenty-One

~SEBASTIAN~

Spiritual.

The atmosphere felt sacred. A beautiful forest shaded with the faded fog, dancing through the grey/dim colored forest. What should look eerie instead looked comforting. It was peaceful. It felt safe. A place untouched and never discovered by man. The way the colors blended, the sky smudged in the background with moon lit as big a saucer in the sky. I could have sworn this was all painted.

I've never been here before.

The fog began to roll by slowly, leaving the misty surface of the wet soil and leaves below us, squishing between my bare toes. The coldness matched my temperature, almost. The crispy breeze blowing through my dark curls, sending chills down my spine as I took another step forward.

The more I walked into the opening; small drops of rain fell onto my face. For the first time, I felt the chill of the weather take hold of me. I was beginning to fear my surroundings and wonder where I could be. It fascinated me at first, but I was beginning to think that I was being put in a bad predicament.

All I could think of was, 'Where's Jacob?'

I've grown more dependent on him now, and here I was; alone, and facing whatever it was that was coming. As I scanned my surroundings, I seemed to be alone. I was lost. There was no sign to where I knew I could be. It didn't feel like I was near home or anywhere close.

I was halted by a sight I had never imagined witnessing. In a short distance, a silhouette of a man had begun to make its appearance through the fog. The closer he had approached, his appearance had become clearer. He was a man of first nations descendant –Quileute? I wasn't sure. He stood proud and tall with his wood carved staff. Masculine. He showed no emotion. His bore no expression with his square-jawline. His hair long and dark draped over his fur cloak that covered a majority of his body.

It almost felt as if I should be bowing to this man in respects, so I did.

He bowed his head in return as he continued to approach me. I stood still and watched him, now noticing that we were no longer alone. Behind him stood a wolf. A beautiful and a massive creature that had no fear of the man or me, dark as the lonely nights, eyes piercing as the purple stars at night, and paws bigger than my palms.

They both approached me with no fear or resilience. I stayed put knowing that it I had to be respectful. It only seemed proper to do so. Now they both stood before me, much taller than me and larger in every way. The man looked down at me before looking at the wolf, the wolf had done the same as they gave each other a nod.

"I have waited many moons to be in your presence young man." The man spoke in a deep monotone. "I was beginning to doubt that you might never come."

"You've been waiting for me?" I asked puzzled. He nodded. "I don't understand."

"You will in time." He continued, now turning to the wolf as the wolf sat in front of me. "But first you must understand why you were brought here."

"Is it because I'm sick?" I asked politely.

He turned to me once again shaking is head. "You haven't fallen ill. But you are facing a change far much greater than any man or shape shifter expected."

"What do you mean sir?"

"It begins with who you are." He addressed me, now raising his hand and placing it on my chest. "In here, you are more than what everyone sees."

"A vampire?"

"Human." He stated bluntly. "You're heart still beats, and faster than others. The moment you were born, it was questioned to why one of our spirit warriors still found a mate in you."

"Jacob?"

He nodded. "You both even questioned the reasons just as the rest of us, but none of us were opposed to it. But now it's proven once the bond has finally been embraced. The alpha spirit that stands within the alpha you are mated with has found you still because you are still special."

"But how?" I asked more confused then ever. The wolf remained observant with the man's explanation.

"This is my wolf." The man approached to pet the massive creature; "we've travelled the spirit world together to find that we were being honored with the human with two spirits, two souls."

"Two?"

The man nodded as well as the wolf. "The cold ones. Monsters in most people's eyes. But we didn't know was that the day would come where one would show humanity. A cold one that has a heart beat? Born with the soul he should have had before he was changed, but because he was born, there was still an attachment to the cold ones beating heart. The second soul lingers inside him, seeking a being to be attached to, until then the soul remains from what the cold one could be once he returns to his human form."

"I'm sorry." I said confused, "but I still don't understand."

"You are that being with two souls." He held his hand to my chest again, "you're phasing to your human form. The poison that used to linger within your veins is now disappearing and making you capable of releasing the second soul within you, but only until the bond between you and your mate is finalized."

"The soul within you recognizes his mate," He began pacing once again. "Once one of the souls make the connection with your mate, the second will be released into another being, to another wolf."

"But why do I carry two souls?" I asked.

"Because a part of you will be connected to your mate," He explained, "and the second one will be a part of both of you, seeking out the wolf strong enough to come back to both of you."

"But why a wolf?"

"Because this wolf will be your child." He said, "The bond formed from the both of you has been strong enough to birth another alpha in a different way. The first wolf able to shift into a human rather than the other way around, evolving our protectors to be even stronger and faster."

"But there is another like me! What about him? I believe he's been bonded to a wolf." I asked in concern to Nahuel.

"The one who had lost his purity? His humanity?" He asked me. I shrugged. "The other you speak of was once our hope, but once again it was discovered that the cold one was born different. The cold one has killed its own kind and changed a human into an enemy. It was a lost cause the moment it surrendered its humanity."

"Can I ask why the spirits feel we need to strengthen the shape shifters?" I asked in curiosity.

"Because the cold ones will eventually try to gain power once again." He explained, "they're greed exceeds them and as long as were here to rid them, they'll become more unknown to mankind. It's our job to make sure that their kind remains the monster known in fairy tales."

"What about the other hybrid like me?"

"His time will come eventually." He stated. "The spirits bonded him with one of our kind so that eventually he will die when the shifter does."

"So do I tell Jacob this?" I asked curiously.

"That's if you remember." He replied honestly. "When you wake, you memory will be like it's on refresh. Those who know of legends will soon discover your duties. At the right time, everyone will know."

"But how will I know if it's right?" I asked worried, "I know most of my family will jump to conclusions. They're already worried that I'm turning human."

"There's not much they can do." He answered. "Just make sure they don't try to change you again."

"But how will I know?"

"Your alpha will!"

"But…"

In that brief moment, it felt as if the earth was beginning shake as the man and wolf faded into the fog. I tried finding anything to take hold onto, not realizing that everything was becoming bright and clear. Like a television, my sight went into a flash before turning black.

~Jacob~

"She swears that he has nothing to with it." Jared explained. "Apparently he needs to be in front of Sebastian to even attempt the ritual."

"Did you ask the witch about it?" I asked frustrated.

"He's been questioned." Paul replied. "He said he has nothing to do with it. We even asked him if he knew what could be happening to Seb and he doesn't know what it could be."

"Well what the hell could it be?" I threw my hands up in frustration, "Sebastian's life is at risk, what am I going to do…"

I couldn't hold onto it any longer. As strong as I was trying to be, my knees gave out and I collapsed where I was. All I could think of was that what if I couldn't save Seb, what if I wasn't strong enough to make sure that he was okay. What if I failed him as a mate and everything he needs me to be?

"Jake," It was Seth that pulled me in, "Jake, Seb's going to be okay."

"How the hell would you know?" I said frustrated, trying to hold back the sobs, "how the hell…"

"Because Seb is just as strong as you are." That was Tyler. "He's not going to give up if you don't."

"I-I j-j-just… I-I just can't." I couldn't hold back the tears. My voice was too shaky; my heart was heavy with sorrow.

Sebastian's beautiful face kept running through my mind. I could hear his voice calm my nerves. Somehow it was he telling me to calm down, to stand strong, everything was going to be okay in some way. I could hear his laugh, see his smile –feel his cool skin against mine.

"You got to pull it together Jake." Seth spoke, "right now Seb needs you."

"I know." I made every effort to stand and wipe the tears from my eyes. "You're right, you're right. I'm supposed to be your alpha, not some damn sniveling baby."

"Dude!" Jared added, "You're forgetting your human too. We understand why you are going to through the emotions that you are going through. I could never imagine how I'd feel if Kim was in the same predicament."

"We get it Jake." Paul added. "No need to apologize over anything. We just need to find any other ways that can give us answers. It doesn't end here."

"Paul's right." Tyler added.

"I think I might know who to ask." Quil said. We all stared at him. "Jake, go back and see Seb, he needs you." He appointed me, then to the others. "Paul, Ty, Jared, go to the council and get the to contact any other tribes and find out any legends that might give us a hint to what could be going on." He then turned to the others. "Embry and the rest of you will follow me. We're going to ask the witch where Nahuel settled and find out what his theories are."

"Nahuel?" I asked angered by the sound of his name.

"I know you're not too fond of him right now Jake," Quil said, "but right now, if Nahuel is experiencing the same thing, or if he has experienced it before, than he might be able to help us. Besides, since he's bonded to another, he won't be a threat anymore."

I hadn't argued any further. If Quil was right, then I shouldn't stand in the way of any of them. They were doing what a pack does, and that's helping my mate and me. Sebastian meant just as much to them as he does to me. I had to trust each and every one of them to make sure that Sebastian would come back to me.

Right now, Sebastian needed me just as much as I needed him.

In a normal fashion, I found myself maneuvering through the forest's trees at a breakneck speed, passing the small animals and leaving the worries behind me. I followed the same path I had always taken to see Sebastian when he was younger, and now I was in the same predicament –excited to see my imprint.

By the time I had reached the manor, everything looked the same. I entered the house to be overtaken by the stench of bleach mixed with corpses. I forgotten just how much the Cullens had reeked. But I knew I could tolerate it just so I could be next to Sebastian, if and when he woke up.

"You still stink too Jacob." Edward said entering the living room.

"I'm not here to argue." I bluntly stated.

"Leave him alone Edward." Bella cussed her husband. "Hi Jake."

"Bells." I nodded passing her. "Thanks."

Entering the surgical area was the same as usual. I could hear the monitors beeping at the normal rates, thankfully. The sun shone through the branches from the trees that formed a canopy over the house.

Carlisle was at his desk in the corner of the room, going through papers as he noticed me walking in. Instead of getting up to greet me, he nodded his head as he realized that I was just here to sit with Sebastian.

Sitting in the silence has giving me more than enough time to think. Mostly badgering myself for not seeing that something was wrong with Sebastian sooner. It was a habit of blaming myself because every time, every moment that Sebastian came into harms way, it's because I wasn't there to protect him like I should. It's the nature of things that Seb doesn't understand most of the time. He doesn't like that I cater to him, but it gives me comfort knowing that I'm the reason he's content. It may sound selfish, but it's so worth it seeing my imprint smile.

As I hold onto his cold hand, I can't help but notice that he has lost the warmth that it used to be at. I found myself wiping tear that fell down my cheek with the back of his palm. I shuttered a breath as I watched his chest rise and fall slowly. His lips chapped, his skin losing the little color it had. His beautiful curls pressed against his scalp due to the sweat holding it in place. The worst part of it was, I was sure that he was in pain; it's just that he wouldn't let me feel it. If I could take every ounce of it away from him, I would, in a heartbeat.

"You need to stop taking the blame."

I hadn't noticed that I was no longer alone. I shook out of my daze to notice that Emmett and Rosalie sat at Sebastian's feet, both concerned for their nephew that lay on the hospital bed. I didn't respond but more of shrugged to Rosalie's comment. She was never this polite nor considerate towards my feelings. I was beginning to believe that I hallucinated her saying it in the first place.

"Sebastian says you still do it a lot." She continued, now holding onto Emmett's arm as she carefully watched Sebastian, still speaking, "I remember when you'd make a fuss over Bella, and I was rooting for you at the time. But when everything changed, and I found that you imprinted on my nephew, I was furious, that's the main reason we needed to leave. I couldn't fathom the idea of Sebastian one day leaving us to go live with a pack of wolves. It was repulsive. I always thought of you as a pedophile in the beginning."

"Rose!" Emmett gave his wife a soft nudge.

"What?" She scolded silently. "I did."

"I know." I chuckled, "I get it, neither of us understood the concept on imprinting on an infant. We never made it easy on Quil either. But experiencing and talking about it are two different things. Your emotions change you, you don't change them."

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"Anyone can control their emotions, their desires, but it's more difficult for a wolf imprinted." I let out a sigh, still holding onto Seb's hand. "In the beginning, it felt as if I was a parent, like… a momma lion protecting her cub. If anything or anyone acted, spoke or even thought of hurting Sebastian, I would probably kill them. As he grew, it went from being a parent to a big brother. Like I was willing to teach him anything, protect him from anything and everyone that might harm him. Then… we left before I could fully experience what I was supposed to."

"Bonding?" Emmett muttered. We both gave him a questionable look. "What?" He fended, "it was just a guess."

"Well… yeah, the bonding." I restated. "During his teen years, what should have developed hadn't. Sometimes, rarely, imprints turn out to be just friendships, but it becomes dangerous even then. Because of Sebastian's advancing age happening rapidly, the imprint differentiated in so many ways. It moved further than expected, and instead of seeking out what we felt, we fell for what was pushed upon us. I developed personal feelings for him before I could understand my sexuality and I'm sure it was the same for him. He was confused, and I was afraid."

"So you're like the dragon protecting the child?" She asked.

"Yeah," I chuckled, "in that perspective, yeah. Sebastian means the world to me. I couldn't leave unless he asked me to."

"Good." She muttered, Emmett nudging his wife.

"I can understand both of your concerns," I added, both now bringing their attention to me, "Sebastian tells me how you both could be more of parents to him than his actual ones. He told me about he forgot about so many things, and in one day, Emmett was their to bring back the good ones." I found myself smiling. "Like the trips to the diner for strawberry shortcake. The singing lessons with Rosalie, the hunting trips when Emmett would take down a bear just for him. That was until he began to pity the animals."

"He was always a softy when it came to living beings." Emmett added with both of them laughing.

"Which is why I'm happy the way he is." I admitted, "no offense to anyone in this family, but it goes to show his humanity. Right now, he hasn't been more human, and I find at times I forget to tell him. I know how much it bothers him of how different he is. I try my best to comfort him when it comes down to it, because we're both different from our own families. He's a hybrid, and I'm an alpha that imprinted on him."

"So you both feel the same way about all of this?" Rosalie asked. "Sebastian hasn't always been social because we hadn't let him, just the same as your pack has forced you. Sebastian told us about the hard times, about how it was difficult and how you were both miserable for the four years you practically been separated. I couldn't imagine being told that I was supposed to stay away from Emmett when I know he's the best thing that has happened to me."

I wasn't sure that anyone understood other than Sebastian and me, and to hear Rosalie's take on it, it goes to show that we weren't alone on this.

"Well…" She shuffled forward and surprised me by placing her hand on Sebastian's and mine, "you have our blessing." She smiled and turned to her husband who mirrored the expression with a nod. "You have our support and we will always be there for you both as long you promise to be there for Sebastian."

"Always." I swallowed the lump in my throat.

"Sebastian would be pleased to hear this once he wakes." Carlisle said as he began to check the monitors.

"Any progress?" I asked hopeful.

"It seems tha…" before he could finish his sentence, the ECG began to beep more rapidly. "His pulse is picking up."

In a quick manner, Carlisle began to race around the room, calling Esme for assistance as he asked us to step aside. I began to panic once again as I watched helplessly. Sebastian's body began to shake just as the monitor's screen began to jump even more. All I could think of was that I could lose him, and it scared me more than anything. "SEBASTIAN!"

"JACOB!" Emmett held onto me, "LET THEM DO WHAT THEY NEED TO DO."

I hadn't realized it until now that I wasn't the only one shouting. We weren't the only ones in the room either. Everyone circled the room as they stood against the walls. The Cullens and my pack. Each watching just as I was. What seemed to be more than an a hour of checking everything, was only minutes when Carlisle spoke.

"He's regaining conscience." He began to grab more blood from the small tubes next to him before injecting Sebastian.

By this time, Paul and Sam were next to me, both holding onto me as I prayed that everything would be okay. I could try to call Sebastian to me, but I knew that Carlisle needed to concentrate, and if Sebastian was regaining consciousness, I began to have hope.

"Jacob!" Carlisle called on me, "I'm hoping any contact will begin to bring him back, all I can do is return the blood taken, and hope that it's enough."

I only nodded before holding Sebastian's hand into mine, kissing the back of his hand and silently calling him to me. I begged him to come back to me, that I would do anything for him to return to me. I would never let anything like this pass me again and I promised from then on that I would never let him down. Nothing mattered to me. I just needed him next to me; I needed him to be a part of my life again.

"Please Seb? Love? Can you hear me?"

In that moment my heart skipped a beat as he shot forward, gasping for air and coughing abruptly. I moved closer into him, my automatic reaction was to help him sit up and patted his back as he continued to cough and gasp for air. Carlisle immediately handed me a bucket just as soon as Sebastian began vomiting into the pale. I couldn't help but turn as I noticed that he was throwing up what looked like venom. His venom.

"W-w-water?" Sebastian choked out the words after vomiting for about five minutes.

I watched in awe as I watched my imprint drink more than I had ever seen. It was one glass after another until he was finally able to speak. Sweat now poured down the side of his face, blood mixed with his venom was now on his gown, seeping into the clothing. I had to hold my breath from the stench, blood mixed with the smell of bleach wasn't too pleasing, and I was sure that Seb felt the same. He quickly began to remove the top piece before pulling his blankets off and throwing the clothe to the floor. Before I could react, Esme already had a clean blanket wrapped around him as he stood up and wrapped it around himself.

He was still feeling weak and now held onto me as both Esme and me escorted him to the bathroom nearby. He insisted on going in alone just as his mother handed him a pair of sweat pants and a muscle-T. I waited by the unlocked door just in case he needed me. The others seemed to be occupied by their own tasks. Carlisle ordered Emmett to burn the sheets and gown while Rosalie and Alice were ordered to begin cooking something for Sebastian and whoever wanted to stay. Jasper assisted Carlisle with cleaning the table as well as the floor while Sam and the others came to check on me.

"We'll stand by close if you need us." Sam informed me. "Paul and a few of the others are going home for a bit to inform the others on Seb's condition. The others will remain on the patrol duties. Seth promised he'd stay here if you needed him. Call us for anything."

"Sure, sure." I muttered in relief.

"Sebastian? Honey?" Esme softly knocked on the door. "Is everything okay."

"Yeah," he replied, "I just need a few minutes."

Seth now sat next to me with an arm on mine for comfort as we waited patiently for Sebastian. He hadn't said a word but smiled, the same smile that could calm anyone, and for that I was thankful to have him there.

By the time Sebastian came out the door, he looked a bit better than he had with his clothes changed and his faced washed. He still had the blanket wrapped around him as he exited, passing his grandma and walking over to me dropping the blanket and wrapping his cold arms around my torso. I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him in even closer.

"I missed your warmth." He chuckled.

"Don't ever scare me like that again." I found my voice breaking.

"I'm sorry." He began rubbing my back to soothe me. "I didn't mean to worry you, but I didn't know what was going on so I needed to find out."

"I know." I mumbled. "Just promise to let me know if something's wrong."

"I will." He giggled. "Is somebody cooking?"

"Yeah." I gave him a puzzled look, "they just started."

"Great." He smiled as if nothing happened. "I'm starving."

"Jacob?" Carlisle called, "can I speak to you privately, let Seth bring Sebastian to the kitchen, it's important."

I gave Seth a nod as they both began to walk up the stairs, both talking like they usually did.

"What is it?" I asked curiously.

"That's the thing Jacob," he replied as Esme and Jasper were now standing next to us, "I'm not entirely sure, but it's almost as if Sebastian is transitioning again."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I asked furious.

"But the transitioning is reversing." He added. "Meaning that the vampire venom that runs through his system is disappearing. His body is regaining its human attributes, and at this rate, if he keeps throwing up his toxins, he will most likely be fully human by tomorrow."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm almost positive." He explained, "The reason I had both monitors attached to him was because I developed one to keep track of any vampires venom levels and if they're at the normal amounts. But his is almost entirely gone."

"Is that a good thing?" I asked.

"I don't know." He shrugged. "This is a first, if Sebastian regains all human abilities, than he'll begin to age once again, and he will no longer need to feed as we do. I'm beginning to think it's because of you."

"Me?"

"It's my only theory." He explained, "somehow, being near you and forming the bond between the two of you, it's given Sebastian that opportunity to live the normal life that most of us want or wanted."

"Are you sure?"

"No," he let out a sigh, "but, it makes sense in almost every way. I think this could be a good thing; that is if Sebastian fully accepts it. But we have to break the news to him slowly before we can tell anyone."

"Yeah, sure, sure." I replied dumbfounded.

How was I supposed to react to all of this? Could it be possible that Sebastian could be human? Was this the purpose of the imprint? So many questions that will most likely be left unanswered. I had to ask myself, was I okay with this? If that meant that he'd be safe and we could live our lives normally, then yes, I was okay with this.

But what if this is the thing that breaks us; what if this breaks the imprint?

A/N: Okay, so I hope you got the idea and that you're okay with it. It took me awhile to make sense of it and I hope that it's believable in a way. So please leave a review because the 10+ review rule still applies.
