Disclaimer- I don't own Full Metal Alchemist, and I'm not making any monetary profit because of writing this drabble…
Warnings/Notes/Rating- I like how this one turned out. I kind of like the Roy/Al pairing. Let's see…there's heavy shounen ai and it is rather AU-ish, what with the nightmares and that we don't totally know what went on during the Ishvalin war, except slaughter…I imagine Roy would have nightmares about that period in his life. I'll be honest I'm not much of Roy fan. Though… I imagine his character is slowly growing on me. This drabble's rated heavy T.
Saku's Drabble Wars Prompt- Roy/Al- He felt wrong sometimes, he was corrupted- he had killed innocent people in wars before. And Al…Al was just so innocent. [Use Imagine Dragon's song "Demons" as inspiration for this drabble.]

Drabble 4: Roy 2

Roy sprang awake with a wordless scream on his lips and sweat pouring from his brow, his breath coming in pants. And the phantom blood still staining his hands. His memories of those he had killed so fresh in his mind. Memories of the Ishvalin war. His nightmare was a mix of his past and the surreal…of fantasy…of delusion. He'd been splattered in his victim's blood, in the blood of his enemies… his hands drenched in their blood. Walls of fire crashing into the roaring ocean. His fire burned and burned and could never destroy them, his victims, his enemies. And there was rain and the rain didn't wash away the blood.
"Roy? Roy! Are you okay? Talk to me, please!"
Roy slowly became aware that someone was calling out to him and wrapping around him, hugging him close from behind. The body somehow helped to bring him down, to ground him, and then he realized where he was, who he with. Al's breath feathered light against the back of his neck, somehow calming him, and he closed his eyes. A small, tender smile fell across his lips, and he knew he was alright.
"I'm here, Al. I'm here. Was just a nightmare," Roy reached up and cupped Al's hands, where they were clinging to his naked chest.
Al sighed against his neck and muttered, "Wasn't just a nightmare."
Roy didn't want to talk about his memories with Al. Or anyone for that matter. He didn't want to corrupt Al any more than he already had, by loving him. But he didn't want to let Al go either.
"I'm not a child…and I want to help you. How can I do that when you won't talk to me?" Al huffed against him.
Roy didn't respond, just squeezing Al's hands tighter. He maneuvered them to lie back down on the bed, and Al only sighed again in defeat.
"Love you," Al murmured.
And Roy echoed back those words as they slowly fell back into the world of sleep, where his demons hid, where his demons would stay…far away from Al and his innocence.
