Hey everyone! Let me say sorry for not posting last week, I had a friend staying at my house for the week and I couldn't find time to post, I hope you can forgive me. Enjoy chapter fifteen!
Chapter Fifteen, Bad News.
Akashi walked through the halls with Kuroko. It had been a day since Midorima and Kise found them under the tree, the entire school wasn't talking about it, so they assumed that Kise actually kept his mouth shut. Which, according to Kuroko, was a first. Though, when they walked by Takao early in the morning he winked at them and gave them a thumbs up, leading Akashi to believe that Midorima didn't keep as quiet as the redhead would have liked.
They parted ways and headed towards their separate classes. 'I'll see you later, Akashi-kun.' Kuroko said, waving as he made his way down the hall.
Akashi smiled as he waved back. He made his way down to his first class when somebody ran right into him.
'Sorry! I am so sorry! Why do I keep doing this?! I'm such an idiot!' The boy named Sakurai shouted.
The redhead cringed at the outburst and put his hands on the boy's shoulders.'It is quite alright, just please, stop yelling... Ryo, correct?'
The teary-eyed boy nodded. 'I'm so sorry Akashi-san, I'm such a klutz.'
'I said it was alright, but why were you running in the first place?' He asked confused.
Sakurai looked over his shoulder at the room he just came out of. 'I'm... I'm not all that sure...'
Akashi stared at him silently for a minute. 'You aren't sure?'
'No...' Sakurai shook his head. 'I'm so tired of this happening!' He threw his hands over his head in exasperation.
The redhead was caught by surprise, but he very calmly put his hands on Sakurai's shoulders. 'Tired of what happening?' He asked quietly.
Sakurai looked up, tears filling his eyes. 'I don't know... I just hate waking up without realizing I was asleep.' He checked his watch. 'Oh my God! I have to go, I don't want to be late! Sorry again!' He turned and ran down the hall.
Akashi stared at him in shock. 'What was all that about? Waking up without realizing he fell asleep? What does that even mean?' He mumbled to himself.
'What does what mean?' A slightly familiar voice said from behind him.
Akashi looked over his shoulder. 'Oh, hello Kazunari... it was nothing, don't worry about it.'
Takao smiled. 'Are you fighting with Kuroko already?'
'What? No, of course not, Sakurai Ryo just ran into me, he said something that confused me, that's all. It has nothing to do with Tetsuya.' Akashi said, trying to defend himself.
Takao laughed. 'I'm just pulling your leg, Kuroko's not that kinda guy. And about Sakurai, he's weird, I wouldn't listen to him.'
'What do you mean?' Akashi asked, making his way to his first class.
'Well, I don't know, he's just strange... I mean, he obviously has a huge crush on Aomine...'
'He does?' Akashi asked, slightly interested.
'Yeah... he's part of the basketball team, I think that's how they met.' Takao said, pulling open the door to the classroom.
Akashi walked into the room with a nod to Takao. 'Is that so?' Takao nodded. 'Strange, I didn't take him for an athlete.' The redhead said, taking his seat diagonal to the black-haired teen.
'Yeah, I think that's part of his appeal, 'sides I hear he's pretty good.' Takao answered.
'I see, and you say he has a crush on Daiki?'
The black-haired teen nodded. 'Yeah, a really obvious one, anyone who's seen them together can tell.'
Akashi tapped his chin in thought. 'That's interesting. Now tell me, why would you say he's weird?'
'Well... it's just that you find him in the weirdest places.'
'What do you mean?' Akashi asked, tilting his head to the side.
Takao shook his head. 'I don't know how to explain it, you find him like hiding around corner and stuff like that. And he's always muttering to himself.'
'I see...' The redhead was deep into thought, there was something about this particular subject that piqued his interest.
'Oh well. I got use to the weird, I am in love with Shin-chan after all.' The dark-haired boy said, staring off into space.
Akashi snapped back to reality, turning towards, Takao he asked the question on his mind. 'Why is that anyway? Didn't Shintaro try to kill you, more then once?'
Takao waved him off, a smile spreading over his features. 'Naw, Shin-chan's just shy, and he get's embarrassed easily, so he starts telling tales. I learned to play along, it makes him happy. We had a nice summer together, despite what he says.'
The redhead smiled. 'That doesn't surprise me, he didn't seem like that kind of person to me. And I'm usually right, no, always right.'
'You're quite the character, Akashi Seijuro.' Takao told him, the smile lingering on his face.
'As are you, Takao Kazunari.' Akashi returned the smile with one of his own.
'Is he now?' A curt voice said, as it entered the room. 'Is he bothering you, Akashi?'
Akashi smiled at the teen they were just talking about. 'No Shintaro. We are just fine thank you.'
'Nonsense. Takao annoys everybody, it's what he does.' Midorima said, taking his seat next to said boy.
'Ah, Shin-chan. You're so sweet.' Takao said, the smile on his face stretching even farther.
'Shut up, fool.' Midorima said, but Akashi was sure he could see the ghost of a smile of his stern face.
No more words were said as class started.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Kuroko sat in class, staring listlessly out the window, He was in another world as he thought about Akashi, and the upcoming trip. He didn't even realize his friend sitting behind him trying to get his attention.
'Tetsu, eh, Tetsu!' Aomine snapped behind him.
The small boy jumped and turned to look over his shoulder. 'Yes, Aomie-kun?'
'You look dazed, whatcha thinkin' 'bout?' The tanned teen asked.
Kuroko thought for a minute, 'I probably shouldn't say Akashi-kun...?' He thought to himself. 'The trip.' He said instead.
Aomine nodded, 'Yeah, it's gonna be fun.'
'I know! I can't wait!' Kise said, his head snapping up from his notes.
Kise and Aomine started talking about all the things they planned on doing for the trip as Kuroko tuned them out.
'I wonder if bringing Akashi-kun would be awkward... but I want to go with him... Would it make Aomine-kun mad? No! I told myself I didn't care, so... I'm going to bring Akashi-kun.' He thought, coming to a conclusion.
'Kuroko-chii~! What's up? You look spaced out.' Kise asked the expressionless boy.
'Oh, nothing. Just, thinking...' Kuroko smiled
Kise and Aomine glanced at each other, they shrugged and continued to talk about the trip. This time, Kuroko decided to join the conversation.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
'Tetsuya, how are you?' Akashi asked the blue-haired boy as he walked out of class.
Kuroko smiled, 'I'm fine, what are you doing here?'
'I came to see you, is that a crime?' He said sliding his arm around the smaller boy's waist.
'No, I guess not, how was your classes this morning?' Kuroko asked as they made their way down the hall.
Akashi shrugged. 'No different than usual. You?'
'Fine.'
They continued to make small conversation all the way to the lunch room.
When they arrived at the lunch room, Kuroko went to find a seat while Akashi went to stand in line.
'I'll be right back!' Kuroko called over his shoulder.
'Alright!' Akashi called back smiling.
He stood silently in line, noticing a strange amount of people staring at him. He watched them all intently for a moment before they finally turned their heads away.
'Strange.' He mumbled to himself.
Kuroko silently slid up beside Akashi. 'Hey, is something wrong?' He asked observing Akashi's curious face.
'No, it's nothing, did you find a spot?' Akashi asked as they walked up to the counter.
As they placed their orders Akashi noticed more stares. 'Hm...' He tilted his head slightly.
'What's wrong?' Kuroko asked again.
'I'm not sure, the other students seem to be staring at me...' Akashi said, glancing around.
Kuroko looked around, 'I don't know, let's just go eat.'
Akashi agreed and they made their way towards their table.
'Ah, Akashi, Kuroko. How are you?' Midorima asked approaching the table.
'We're fine, Shintaro. Why do you ask?' Akashi answered.
'Just curious...' He looked slightly uncomfortable.
Kuroko stared at Midorima silently, 'Midorima-kun, what's wrong?'
Midorima glanced around, he looked up at Akashi. 'Maybe you should come see.'
The redhead stood up quickly. 'Is something wrong?'
'Follow me.' Midorima turned and left the room.
Akashi and Kuroko followed curiously, it wasn't until Midorima stopped at the bulletin board outside of the lunch room did Akashi understand all the stares. Tacked to the board was a newspaper article from three years ago, the headline read;
Thirteen year old boy suspected for armed assualt.
Thirteen year old boy, (Akashi Seijuro) is the lead suspect in a armed assault case that occurred two weeks ago...
Before Kuroko could read the rest of the article, Akashi ripped it off the board. His arm was violently shaking, at first Kuroko thought he was upset, but when he got a better look at the redhead's face, he saw that the other boy was shaking with rage.
'Who the hell...' Akashi mumbled, barely able to form a sentence.
'Akashi-kun...? Are you... okay?' Kuroko asked, his voice quiet.
Akashi looked up, his eyes filled with malice. 'Me? Of course I'm okay, they just went too far this time. That's all.'
'Too far? What do you mean, who are they?' Kuroko asked, putting his hand on Akashi's arm.
'Oh, never mind, I'll be right back. I want to make sure this article isn't anywhere else. Goodbye, Tetsuya.'
And without a glance over his shoulder, Akashi made his way down the hall.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
