Hey everyone, I'm actually putting this chapter up in time... I'm so amazed... Oh well, I hope you enjoy chapter nineteen!

Chapter Nineteen, Breathless.

With the air escaping his lungs, he barely registered his body hitting the ground, the sand stirring around him. By this point he no longer fought to breathe, just waited for the end to come.

He was lifeless, he didn't feel the arms wrap around his body, he didn't feel his head break the surface.

No air made it to his lungs as he was dragged to shore, pushed to the ground, he couldn't hear the voice screaming in his ear, asking him to wake up. He didn't feel the mouth pressing against his, trying to breathe life into him. He didn't feel the hands pushing against chest, trying to make his heart move again.

Nothing, Akashi Seijuro felt nothing.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

'Akashi-kun! Akashi-kun! Please... Akashi-kun please wake up!' Kuroko screamed as he continued his compressions.

He knelt down, putting his ear against the redhead's mouth. Feeling nothing he continued his compressions again.

'Please, don't leave... don't leave me!' He shouted, tears flowing down his flushed cheeks.

He looked around frantically, 'Help! Please someone help!' He shouted into the darkness.

Kuroko continued his compressions, he didn't want to waste a second.

'Tetsu? Eh Tetsu, did I hear you yell?!' Aomine shouted, as he made his way over.

'Aomine-kun! Aomine-kun hurry, it's Akashi-kun! Hurry call 911!' He screamed, relieved that someone finally showed up.

He jogged over and took in the scene. 'Shit!' He cried when he saw the other boy on the ground. He pulled out his phone and hit the numbers quickly.

While Aomine talked, Kuroko leaned in and gave two more breaths. he watched and this time he saw Akashi's stomach move. Hope flickered through his eyes as he checked his breathing...

A faint breath...

'He's breathing! Hurry Aomine-kun, he's breathing!' Kuroko yelled, fresh tears rolling down his face.

He continued his compressions until Akashi started to cough. Kuroko helped him into the recovery postion and waited, he rubbed Akashi's back as he cried silently.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

It was a long process. Aomine had his arm wrapped firmly around Kuroko's shoulders as they waited.

Kuroko could still remember how terrified he was when he answered his phone, all he heard was silence and then a splash. He heard a sound which must have been the phone hitting the dock, but he still didn't know where to look. He ran off without any warning, if he was thinking straight he would have thought to tell the other boys. He ran in the direction that Akashi left in. When he saw the dock he chanced it and checked. When he saw Akashi in the water not moving, he had assumed the worst. All he could think of as he waited for someone to tell whether or not Akashi was going to be okay, was how glad he was that he let his mother talk him into taking first aid.

'Eh, Tetsu, I think we should sit down... come on.' Aomine said gently, pulling him to one of the chairs.

Kuroko followed numbly and sat down, he didn't realize that he was leaning all of his body weight on Aomine and tried to thank him, but nothing came out of his mouth.

Murasakibara, Midorima, Kise, and Momoi sat across from the other two.

Kuroko didn't know where she came from, but Momoi had come running over to where he was sitting with Akashi and Aomine, with a surprisingly level head, she took charge quickly. She had stripped out of her heavy coat and laid it on top of Akashi, trying to keep him warm, she then called Kise and told him where they were and to come quickly. After hanging up on Kise, she called Nijimura and told him a bit of their situation, she told him they needed a way to get to the hospital. She then stayed with Kuroko until the ambulance showed up, when he climbed on the ambulance with the doctors she assured him that they would catch up soon. It was all because of her that everyone was together.

Nijimura paced the floor, guilt etched in all his features. 'I can't believe this happened... I knew I shouldn't have been so lax...' He mumbled, running a hand through his hair.

They all stayed silent, none of them could think of something to say.

'Hello, are you Akashi Seijuro's friends?' A women asked, stepping into the room.

Kuroko shot to his feet and nodded. 'Is he okay?'

The women examined him, 'He's recovering, he should be okay, it doesn't seem like he was under for too long... but there may be side effects...'

Kuroko didn't hear as the doctor explained everything all he heard over and over again was that Akashi was going to be okay.

'Two minutes, maybe three...' Kuroko heard when he started listening again.

'Pardon?' Kuroko said, slightly embarrassed.

'I said, I don't believe he was under for more than two minutes, maybe three. You did CPR which proved very effective, it was a good thing you were there, he may have more severe damage otherwise.'

Kuroko's eyes lit up, Akashi was okay, because of him? He didn't stop the tears as they trailed down his cheeks.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

The surface was just out of reach, I stretch my hand forward, knowing if I could just touch the top I'd escape, my fingers graze the top, I can't tell if I'm the one sinking, or if the surface that I long to touch is rising, either way, it's no longer right above me, but miles away.

Depression, hopelessness, fear. I feel it all as I watch the surface, my surface, escape my reach.

Out of nowhere, I can't breathe, I can't pull breath to my lungs, panic seeps in, making me reach further and further, thrusting my hand forward. For some reason it's the only part of my body I can move.

All I can do is stare at my hand, as the beautiful surface pulls farther, and farther away.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

'Can I see him?' Kuroko asked in a shaky voice.

'Well, usually I would say no... only his family should be allowed to see him, but he did mumble about someone named Tetsuya... would that be you?'

Kuroko nodded.

'Well, since he has no family here, I don't see why not, but only for a few minutes though, and remember, he isn't awake right now.'

'Yes ma'am.' Kuroko said, walking in the room behind her.

When he saw Akashi lying in bed he hurried over, his face was pale and he had bandages wrapped tightly around his head. Kuroko felt his breath catch as the scene from earlier replayed behind his eyes.

Kuroko grabbed the redhead's hand and squeezed it slightly. 'Akashi-kun...' He mumbled as he kissed his hand.

Akashi's hand twitched, causing Kuroko to jump. 'He moved...' He said, looking at the doctor.

She nodded. 'Yes, he may be asleep, but he isn't in a coma.'

'Oh...' Kuroko flushed, embarrassed for getting so excited.

The doctor smiled, 'I'm going to wait out there, I'll be back in a moment.'

Kuroko nodded and turned back to the redhead. 'Akashi-kun, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have let you go off like that...' He said, his voice cracking, 'I just hope that you're okay, I promise I'll hold your hand until you wake up.'

As if hearing his words, Akashi's eyes fluttered opened.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

As the surface rises and I sink, I start feeling more at ease, maybe there's nothing wrong with sinking, as the thought goes through my mind I... feel something drip on my face and slide down my cheek.

Water, there's water sliding down my face, following no rhythm, it just falls.

But where is it coming from...? I feel pressure on my hand, I see, someone grabbing my hand.

'Let's go now, you've been down here long enough.' The person said.

I don't know who it is, but I feel comfortable, and without realizing, I utter one name.

'Tetsuya...'

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

'Tetsuya...?' Akashi mumbled, he started to cough.

'Akashi-kun!' Kuroko exclaimed, he turned around to call the doctor just as she walked in.

A nurse walked in with her, and steered Kuroko out of the room. 'Please wait here.'

She hurried back into the room.

Aomine walked over and put his hands on Kuroko's shoulders. 'Did he wake up?'

Kuroko nodded weakly.

'He did? Is he okay?' Nijimura asked, turning towards the smaller boy.

'I-I don't know.' Kuroko stammered.

Nijimura ran a hand through his hair. 'Sorry, just... worried...'

They all lapsed back into silence, no one knew what to say.

It seemed like hours before anyone came out of the room.

'Kuroko Tetsuya-san?' The nurse from earlier said.

'Yes?' Kuroko answered, getting to his feet.

'You can come back in now.'

He nodded and followed her in the room.

His breath caught when he saw Akashi sitting up in his bed, a small smile on his pale face.

Akashi lifted his hand.

Kuroko made his way quickly to the bed and hugged him. 'I thought you were dead...' He mumbled into his hair.

'Nope... you're stuck with me...' He whispered slowly.

'What happened to your head...?'

Akashi felt the bandages. 'I think... I hit it... on a rock...'

'I'm so sorry...' Kuroko said, tears sliding down his face.

'Why...?' Akashi asked, looking up at the crying boy.

'I shouldn't have let you go off alone, I shouldn't have taken you to the beach at all! If we didn't go... this never would have happened. If it weren't for me...'

'I would be dead.' Akashi whispered shortly.

Kuroko froze and looked down.

'I could have died, but you saved me... If it weren't for you, I would have died. Are you going to tell me you regret that?!' He said, his voice rising slightly.

'No, I would never regret that... I was so scared... When I found you, I thought you were already...'

Akashi shook his head, 'I thought it was you that found me... Thank you...'

Kuroko hugged him again. 'Don't thank me, just get better...'

'I will, it's not easy to get rid of Akashi Seijuro...'

'I know...'

Akashi buried his face in Kuroko's shirt. 'Sorry, Just give me a minute...'

Kuroko felt his shirt becoming wet, he wrapped his arms tighter around Akashi.

'I love you...' Akashi mumbled. Surprising both himself and Kuroko.

'I love you too, Akashi-kun.'

After that, Kuroko held his lover in until he fell asleep.

kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Sorry for the short chapter, I promise the next one will be much longer. It was also kind of boring, I hope it was okay though... tell me what you think!
