Hey y'all~! Sorry for disappearing like that! My internet was down for two weeks... I'm so sorry I meant to post as fast as possible, but once it was all fixed I read the chapter over and had to fix it... Sorry again! Please try to forgive me! I won't ramble anymore, here's chapter twenty!
Chapter Twenty, Coming Clean.
'Welcome everyone, I'm sorry about the sudden call, but we have a few pressing issues that must be dealt with.' Nijimura said, as he looked over the table at the rest of the student council.
Imayoshi propped his chin on his hand and sighed. 'I guess there's no going around it.'
Nijimura nodded in agreement. 'I have a hard time believing that what happened was a mistake.'
Hyuuga raised his hand from the other side of the table. 'Excuse me, but what is it that happened? All I know is that you came back early, said there was some sort of emergency and called a meeting.'
'Sorry, I thought I told Reo to tell everyone.' Nijimura said, glancing at said boy.
Mibuchi looked offended, 'You did not!' He slammed his hand on the table and said, 'I asked you what you wanted me to do, and you were all like, "not now, Reo." So I didn't tell anyone what happened.'
'Oh, sorry Reo, I thought I texted you...' Nijimura ran a hand through his hair and sighed. 'Sorry.' He said again.
'Ah, Shuzo-baby, I'm not mad. Don't feel bad, we all have bad days.'
'Reo, please don't call me that.' The older boy said, though he smiled gratefully all the same.
'Okay! Can you two stop flirting and instead explain why it is that you called us all here?' Kasamatsu Yukio called from across the table.
Nijimura scowled, 'Yes, of course.' He cleared his throat and started again. 'As you all know, a incident occured yesterday, as you also know, students tend to sneak out on this trip.' Everyone nodded in agreement. 'Well, as usual, a group of people snuck out together, only one of them got hurt.'
Hyuuga raised his hand again. 'Hurt how?'
'Shut up and listen.' Reo snapped.
Nijimura nodded at the two boys and continued. 'While they were on the beach one of the boys had gone on to the dock and somehow he fell in, though he would usually have been fine, for some reason he stayed under.' He puased for a second, letting it sink in for everyone.
'So,' The presdent continued, 'he's in the hospital right now. He's awake, he's doing fine, but here's the issue.'
They all stayed silent, waiting for Nijimura to get to the point.
'I don't think it makes very much sense, it doesn't seem very reasonable to assume that he honestly couldn't get up, the water's not that deep.'
Hyuuga cleared his throat. 'Perhaps he hit his head?'
Nijimura shook his head, 'That's what I thought at first to, but when I asked the nurse, he did hit his head, but nothing serious, I doubt he blacked out because of that.'
'Who was it?' Kasamatsu asked, raising an eyebrow.
The president hesitated, so Imayoshi answered instead. "Akashi Seijuro."
Everyone shared a look.
'Now, I know what you're all thinking. But, listen, I know that Seijuro's brought a lot of trouble behind him, but I really don't think it really has anything to do with him as a person. I think he just... attracts the wrong crowd. Not speaking on personal feelings, of course.' Nijimura explained.
'Oh, of course not. No one would ever expect you of that.' Imayoshi muttered.
Nijimura shot him a glare and continued, 'I know that a lot of rumors have spread, but I still think we should look in to this. We have a reputation to uphold.'
'It's true, and besides, what kind of horrible people would we have to be to ignore someone who almost died?!' Mibuchi cried in disgust.
They all looked down slightly ashamed. 'I agree, but, what can we do about it? We're only the student council.' Otsubo Taisuke said from his spot at the table.
Nijumra glanced at him and smiled. 'What do you mean? We are the strongest force in school, aren't we?'
'That's the spirit, Shu-chan! Okay, everyone, you heard the boss, shut the hell up and figure out what happened to Sei-chan!' Reo shouted.
'Could you stop giving me annoying nicknames?' Nijimura snapped.
Reo looked offended, 'They are not annoying!' He put a hand to his heart. 'They're lovely!'
Everyone ignored his comment and continued. 'What concerns me, is that you have to assume that the reason he stayed under was because someone held him there, and if that's what we assume, than it make the most sense to pin it on someone who attends school here.' Imayoshi said, as everone nodded in grim agreement.
'But, if that's the case, we need to figure out who would have have reason to dislike Akashi.' Himuro said, speaking up for the first time.
Momoi, who was sitting next to him nodded. 'I don't like it, but Himuro's right. Akashi must have made someone angry.'
Nijimura looked around the table. 'Does anyone have any ideas?'
Silence fell around the room as they tried to narrow it down. Hyuuga raised his hand for a third time. 'The only one who really knows anything about Akashi is you, Nijimura.'
They all turned towards Nijimura. 'Well, that's true, but I don't spend time with him in school.'
Riko cleared her throat. 'Why don't we just have another meeting and call him here?'
'Well, that's fine, but we can't call him here with no proof.' Nijimura reasoned.
'Than we'll get proof.' She replied dismissively.
'I agree. I don't want whoever did this to be floating around school. We should figure it out quickly.' Himuro said.
'Fine, we'll have a vote.' Nijimura said, 'All in favour of calling Akashi here?'
He watched as the hands rose one by one until over half the room was in agreement. He sighed and shook his head. 'Okay, when he's released from the hospital we'll hold an emergancy meeting. Until then, you're all dismissed.'
They all stood and started to exit the room, grim looks on all of their faces.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
'Akashi-kun... Akashi-kun! Wake up!'
Akashi woke up with a start. He turned to Kuroko, who was shaking violently. 'What's wrong, Tetsuya?' He asked groggily.
'I-I... you were shaking, and... you wouldn't wake up... I was so worried...' He dropped his head in his hands. 'I'm sorry, Akashi-kun...'
The redhead smile sadly and put his hand on Kuroko's head, 'Don't worry about it. I'm fine now, I'm awake, so let's just... calm down.'
Kuroko nodded and wiped his eyes. 'I know, I just can't...'
'Stop thinking about it? Neither can I... it keeps replaying through my head... over and over again.' His hands shook, as he tried to keep the fear out of his voice.
'Akashi-kun, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bring it up...' Kuroko hugged the other boy.
They sat together in silence for a while before the Akashi broke the silence. 'Tetsuya, could you go get me something to drink?'
Kuroko stood and nodded, 'I'll be right back.' He leaned down and kissed Akashi lightly on his head and left the room.
Akashi sighed and fell back, he rubbed his face and tried to regain his composure. He thought back to yesterday, and the conversation he had with his father before the accident, the conversation he hasn't had yet, but was sure to have soon with his father. He ran his hands through his hair, flinching as he hit the bruise. He slid his finger down the spot where the cut he got was, fingering his bandages, he tried to think of a way to convince his father to let him stay. If he told him that he slipped and fell it may be better, but if he told him what really happened then there was no way he would be allowed to stay.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Kuroko walked back in the room, he stared sadly at the other boy, Akashi eyes were dazed as he slowly played with the bandages, and stared at the ceiling. The doctor told Kuroko that Akashi shouldn't have any lasting damage, that the cut wasn't deep, the bruise wasn't bad. But he couldn't help but worry, he was there, he saw Akashi when he wasn't breathing, he saw everything. And now watching him, breathing and moving, he should be relieved. But he couldn't help it, everytime Akashi's eyes drifted closed Kuroko couldn't help but think that they weren't going to open again. And everytime Kuroko left the room, he would come back to Akashi spaced out, staring listlessly at the ceiling.
He had only been here a day, the bus showed up and took everyone home first thing in the morning, but Kuroko stayed, he told Nijimura that he would return to school with Akashi, Nijimura understood and gave him permission, the doctor said that Akashi should be allowed to return today, but Kuroko wasn't sure when. He'd been at the hospital since visiting hours started, and has yet to leave, he wasn't even sure if he ate anything since yesterday.
'Tetsuya...?' Akashi said from his bed, turning slightly and staring at him. 'Did you get my drink?'
'Mm-hm, sorry for taking so long.' He made his way back to Akashi's bed and handed it to him, he sat down and watched him drink it silently.
'Tetsuya, is everything alright?' Akashi asked as he set his glass down.
Kuroko jumped in surprise, he wanted to say no, nothing was alright, he didn't even know what it meant to be alright anymore, but he knew he couldn't, Akashi was the one who got hurt, complaining would be selfish, so instead he kept his mouth shut and nodded.
Akashi shook his head, 'Now, Tetsuya, you know that you can't lie to me, tell me what's wrong.'
The smaller boy looked down, ashamed of himself, 'I'm okay, Akashi-kun, you shouldn't be worrying about me, not when...'
'Oh, I see, Tetsuya, shame on you, I don't want you to torture yourself because you don't want to offend me, I want you to be honest with me. I want you to tell me what it is that's bothering you.'
Kuroko wiped his eyes again and let out a shaky sigh, 'I'm just worried, that's all, when you sleep I'm worried that you won't wake up... that you're... I can't stop thinking these things, I'm so horrible. I should be taking care of you! You should be the unstable one, why...' He dropped his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking. 'Why am I so weak?!' He cried.
Akashi watched him sadly. 'Tetsuya...'
'No! Please, stop trying to make me feel better, I don't want you to worry about me, I want you to worry about yourself!'
'Calm down, It's okay, there's nothing wrong with being upset. I would be more upset if you were completely fine. And Tetsuya, I am worried about myself. I can't stop thinking about what happend, what's going to happen, what my father said. How this is affecting you, who the hell hates me so much, why the hell I can't go anywhere without causing trouble, why it is that if I'm happy than somehting bad is bound to happen, I just don't understand. I've been spending all day trying to figure out how to convince my father to let me stay at school with you, but I keep coming up with nothing! It's so frustrating! I want to stay, but I will never be able to over throw my father. Don't you see, Tetsuya, I'm not invincible! No matter how hard I try, I wil never be invincible!' He his voice rose steadily as spoke until he was shouting.
Kuroko stared silently at Akashi, forgetting his own troubles, he reached out and hugged him, 'Akashi-kun, please, tell me exactly what happened. I want to know from beginning to end, I feel selfish for asking you to talk about it, but I don't understand most of what you're saying. But I want to help, and to help you, I need to understand.'
Akashi took a breath and tried to calm down, he looked Kuroko in the face and knew that the other boy was right. Nodding, he sat up and started to tell Kuroko the whole story, starting with the threat on his locker.
kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Well, that's it, sorry again for the wait, I hope you enjoyed it anyways, tell me what you think!
