The end is nearing, my friends. But it is not upon us just yet. Please review this chapter if you liked it and please tell me your assumptions for the next couple chapters... I'd love to hear them

Anyway, enjoy :)

Free fall.

That sound he used to hear in Looney Tunes cartoons when he was younger. That whistling noise when Coyote would fall off a cliff, followed by the sound of breaking glass.

Time stopped. He heard the breaking noise over and over again like a soundtrack stuck on repeat, and it hadn't been like this with Deborah. His hands started shaking and he felt his eyes fill up with tears that refused to fall.

Free fall.

What a horrible sound it was. And what a horrible experience it is, to listen to your heart breaking.

"Castiel" Eleanor called on the other end of the line "Castiel, are you still there?"

No, he wanted to answer

"Yeah" He answered, careful not to let his voice shake. He cleared his throat before continuing "It's just… It's a lot to take in"

"I know! I still can't believe it; I mean it just happened but… It's Dake! Can you believe it? I can't, he's too perfect" She said excitedly.

"I figured out that much. But did um… did anything change?"

"Not yet, must be personality trait, something that'll take longer for me to notice. But I found him and that's amazing!"

"Yeah"

"Are you okay? You're quiet"

No

"I'm fine. But… are you happy"

"Of course I am! How lucky am I to find a soulmate this young and for it to be someone like Dake?"

"Of course"

"Well I gotta go call some other people now. Bye"

She didn't say "love you" like she used to.

"Bye"

Free fall.

Castiel was freefalling.

And there was no one there to catch him when he hit the ground.

Xx

Lysander showed up at Castiel's house twenty minutes after Eleanor hung up, and he found Castiel looking like he had been crying.

"Hey" The silver-haired boy greeted "How are you?"

"Great" There was a pause "Eleanor found her soulmate"

"I know. She just called me"

"She sounded happy"

"How about you?"

"I'm great, I've already told you"

"No you're not"

"I'm fine"

"I've been your best friends for five years. I watched Deborah rip your heart to pieces and I was the one who helped you put it back in place. And now I'll do that again without complaining because you have done the same for me and I know you will do it again if I need it. I know you're not fine, Castiel, and I want to help, just don't lie to me"

"You don't know everything about me!" Lysander took Castiel by the arm and led him to the living room "What are you—"

"Shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down" Castiel reluctantly sat on the couch and stared at his friend "Now listen here, you twat. Are you really going to sit there and do nothing?! Say something to her! Admit that you like her at least. She can't change fate, but if she knew she would at least have the decency of not saying anything that could trigger you!"

"I don't like her" Castiel shouted.

"Then I'm not the leader of the Amoris Orchestra. For fuck's sake, admit to yourself, how about that? It will make your life easier" Lysander shouted back. The he said in a calm, apologetic tone "It will make your life less painful"

"I can't tell her just yet. I was going to, after I called you this morning, but then she called. I can't tell her just yet"

"Your choice. But remember, mate. I'm here for you"

Castiel was going to keep it silent. He wasn't going to tell her anything and he most definitely wouldn't argue with her because of that. He was going to just keep it to himself.

But then it was the 17th January and they were all hanging out in the park, and Dake was there. Dake was honestly handsome, Castiel couldn't lie. He had that shiny blond hair and sun-kissed skin and blue eyes and he was a lot better than Castiel. Castiel was plain, only the thunderstorm eyes were something, but, besides that, he was just another white teenage boy everyone hates.

It was all going well, aside from the fact that the guy kissed Eleanor – or, even better, ate her face – every five minutes. But it was going well. Castiel was okay. Almost.

But then Eleanor said she was going with Dake to Australia for a year and that's when Castiel decided he had had enough.

"Are you actually shitting me?" Castiel yelled

"What? I love Australia, and I think it would be a nice experience—"

"Are you fucking stupid?"

"Castiel, you are offending me"

"You only just met this guy and you're already practically eloping with him!"

"We're not eloping, and Dake is my soulmate, might I remind you. Him, not you"

"So now you're just off to Australia to live in a sugar coated world your candy romance?"

"Why are you so mad, I don't understand?!"

"You're just leaving like that, without even taking in consideration that there are people here that care about you"

"Everyone has been accepting so far, except for you, what's even wrong with you? I thought we were best friends"

"Lysander is my best friend. You are the person I hang out with. You're leaving without looking behind for the people you have and will hurt, friends don't do that! Friends stay with each other"

"I'm sorry. I didn't know I needed you permission to do everything I want to"

"You don't, but could you at least think about me for a second?"

"I think a lot about you. You always ignore me"

"I never ignore you"

"You are an idiot"

"I'm the idiot?"

"Yes, you are" She got up and grabbed Dake's hand, pulling him up "Don't talk to me until you solve your fucking daddy issues. No one has to deal with that"

And just like that, she was gone. And just like that, Castiel sent away the person he cared about the most.

"I'm gonna actually kill you" Rosalya told him.

"Castiel. Castiel, what have you done?" Lysander asked, but the black haired boy didn't listen, he was already walking away, his ears buzzing with anger and regret.
