Welcome to one of the lasts chapters of the Prince of Kinkow. Yes, this story will be rather short compared with my other PoK fic, but that doesn't matter - this was first meant as a one-shot anyway... Just an epilogue and this story will be over. Anyway, I hope you like this chapter but first, my response to the reviews (yes, reviewS):

Wendy Pierce: Yay, another reviewer! Welcome! And you know the answer when you've read this chapter, and thanks for the review! It's really appreciated!

SGJBMCfan98: Thanks for the review, and now comes this chapter! Is this soon enough for you?

Enjoy!

Lanny had no idea how long he had slept, but it had been one of those rare times everyone had just let him sleep. He had needed that sleep he's gotten, even though he had no idea why he should need so much sleep. Maybe to try and kill the kings when fit again, or maybe he could finally stand up to those four bullies. Either way, that is why he needed his sleep, didn't move much and never opened his eyes.

This time, other things were making him curious. There was this interesting scent that was drawing his attention. He was lying in his bed and there was someone walking into his room. Nobody was allowed in his room. Nobody. And Lanny opened his eyes, not really tired anymore. Then he notice it wasn't his room he was in, but it was a room in the limited hospital of Kinkow. And that person who had walked into his room was Mason! What was he doing here. When Mason noticed Lanny's open eyes, he sat down on a chair next to his bed, stupefied to see Lanny awake.

"Lanny, you're awake!" he said, and Lanny rolled his eyes. This wasn't the time to be sentimental.

"I know," the prince coldly replied, and then remembered a bit f the last night. He was at the volcano, or close by, and Teagan was there too, but he couldn't recall more. But maybe Mason knew… "What happened?" he eventually asked. Mason hesitated, Lanny saw. He knew it because he waited with his answer instead of an immediate response.

"I don't think it's wise to…"

"Let's just get this over with, Sasquatch!" Only now Lanny felt his throat was hoarse and he was really thirsty. And hungry. But he did continue to talk, because if he knew what has happened, Mason could leave and he could be in the privacy of his temporary room. "I wanna know what happened, nothing else."

Mason gulped and started to tell the story of what happened that night. "You were kidnapped by an escaped criminal, Kermen Forned. Four boys were also kidnapped, of which one of them was Teagan Kalooka-Khan. You were…"

"Rean Banwell is his son." Lanny said as the monologue from that day came back in mind as a suppressed memory. "He was married to my uncle. That man also told me I'm his son, too. Is that true?" Again, Mason hesitated but this time Lanny looked him right in the eyes.

"Well…" That word Mason always used when he was about to tell a lie. No, he wouldn't be told lies from the Royal Advisor. So he repeated the tree words he just spoke to the man. Mason sighed and decided to just tell the story why and what the reason was.

"Yes, it is." Lanny was about to protest, but Mason was faster, "But you gotta understand we never told you or Rean to protect you two from him. Rean had to be adopted to make sure Kermen wouldn't be able to find him. We also let you grow up as the prince because he did not know your name or gender – he could think you're a royal from another island. Teagan had called me saying that…"

"Called you?" Lanny sounded confused. How could Teagan have called Mason.

"He used the phone of his grandfather who had never used it before." Lanny shrugged as far as he was able – that sounded logical, "He called me, telling me to come to Mount Spew, and we did. We found you, the kings and the four boys. Rean explained to us what happened and how he was able to get you out of the rock in the middle before you'd slid down in the lava. He also confessed his criminal deeds. Teagan…"

"Enough of that, Mason," Lanny demanded, looking away, "You can go now."

"But…" Mason said, but Lanny shook his head while looking out of the window. "You can go!" The prince shouted, and Mason left without saying another word. He heard the door shut and Lanny was alone at last for ten nice minutes. He had thought of that night, of which his memory was troubled. Then, a few more questions came up in his mind which he probably should have asked Mason: how were the others doing? What happened to Kermen? And how long had he wasted his time here? He did not think of them again, because the answers were obvious: the others were doing something, Kermen was in jail and he wasted not much time here. Right?

Then, someone was being a little rude by just storming into his room and keeping him from his thoughts that needed a lot of attention. When he looked up, he saw that one person he didn't think would see ever again: Teagan. He seemed worried. And older. Definitely older now his hair was a lot shorter than it had been and his worried look definitely helped making him look older.

"I heard you were awake and…" he stuttered, but Lanny interrupted him.

"You came so quickly?" the prince wanted to know, and Teagan shrugged.

"I was in the neighborhood," was his explanation, "I'm glad to see you're alive." Lanny raised an eyebrow. He recognized that phrase. When someone said that to him, they usually wanted something. Most of them wanted money or protection, but most of them just wanted that bit of money to get through.

"You are? Or do you just want something from me?" Teagan sighed.

"What I want from you is to understand me for once!" he almost shouted these words, "You're the only one I've ever hurt intentionally. You're the only person who knows of my backstory. You're the only other kid with a lot of power. You're…"

"Just get to the point," Lanny said, rolling his eyes and Teagan nodded.

"Mason thought it would be better if you'd hear the news from me." Now Lanny was curious.

"News? What news?" there must have been something that happened in the short time he believed to have been here. Why else would Mason not want to tell the big news himself?

"Well… you've been here for, like, two months." Teagan saw the surprise and confusion on Lanny's face. He could understand the prince wouldn't immediately believe it, but it was true. The prince shook his head.

"Teagan, now is not the time to try and be funny." Now Teagan's eyes widened – was he really thinking the Elder's grandson would try to be funny?

"I'm not trying to be funny!" Teagan told his prince, "As for proof, today's the eleventh of November." Lanny shook his head. Okay, if Teagan wanted to play it like that, he would too.

"Okay then… tell me what the others have done while I was wasting my time here."

"Rean is in the dungeon," Teagan began, "the deepest that was available. He told Mason what he'd done and stepped into that dungeon himself, waiting for someone to lock him up. The door's still open, but he refuses to leave it until the guards tell him to get out. He's only getting out three years later. Vic and Karell move away to Mindu because their parents didn't believe Kinkow was safe anymore. And I myself am leaving tomorrow for Lakuna." Teagan at first didn't want Lanny to know, but he now said it and was actually glad he did. The only problem was that Lanny was now even more confused.

"Leaving?" the prince asked, "Why do you even wanna go to Lakuna anyway?" Teagan shrugged.

"They've been building a fine school some time, complete with a high school and university. It was my own choice to go there and continue my studies – not only because of that, but also to be away from grandpa as much as possible. The last two months he's been blaming me for what happened to you and that madman. I need to get away from him!"

"What happened to him anyway?" Lanny asked, "I mean the madman. He pulled me in the air, but that's all I can remember." Teagan bit his lip.

"Let's just say you had the luck he hadn't – he hit the lava and immediately died. I guess I'm sorry for your loss." Lanny shook his head.

"Nah, don't be! I barely knew him. I'm glad he's gone. Besides, he's never really been a father figure anyway." Teagan nodded, admitting he liked the fact that madman was gone, too. Then, an awkward silence followed, only to be broken by the curious prince.

"You just came to say goodbye, didn't you?" You can say a lot about their relationship, but they did know a lot about each other and that's why Lanny easily guessed the purpose of Teagan's visit. The Elder's grandson nodded.

"As I said earlier, I'm leaving tomorrow." That's all he gave for an explanation and everything Lanny had wanted to hear. The prince pointed at the door.

"And now you did, so get out!" To his surprise, Teagan was laughing at that comment. And he had chosen to laugh at that one serious comment. Lanny sighed and waited for the ex-bully to leave him alone.

"Okay," Teagan eventually said after he stopped laughing, "Hey, one more thing… we're cool, right? No more bullying, just a steady friendship?" Lanny looked at Teagan with a look of disgust for one moment.

"You can believe what you want, but you and I are never going to be friends!"

"Okay then," Teagan said, "I'll write you some letters."

"I won't bother to write back," Lanny said harshly and Teagan shrugged with a smile.

"I know. Have a good recovery." And with those words, Teagan left the room.

And Lanny already felt how the loneliness filled the room.
