A/N: Well, jatd4ever, I couldn't make this sad. Oh, I wanted to, I had a very gruesome idea in my head, which I might still write, but I thought you could win this one.
As you can see, this was requested by jatd4ever, the prompt was Jane/Smithy – "you love that pig more than you love me".
I don't own JATD.
Pig
My name is Pig. It isn't very original, because I am a pig, but besides all that I'm a girl pig.
My best friend is Smithy – that's what the others call him. He clangs on hard things with his hammer and gives them to the red-haired girl and the others who fight all the time around the castle. I see the red-haired girl a lot, the one who rides the dragon, but she doesn't like me.
She sometimes puts her mouth against his with her lips puckered when she says hello to Smithy, like he sometimes does with my ears, or she gives him a tight embrace.
Why do I say she doesn't like me? Because she keep's saying, "You love that pig more than you love me." I think she is his mate, because he makes an effort whenever he works on her sharp things, he runs his finger through his hands a lot and he washes the black marks he gets from clanging all day off his face when he knows she's coming. He also pulls his face into a smile whenever she's coming, one so bright I think the sun would run away.
Smithy would always laugh, give me a pet on the snout and say: "The same can be said for you and dragon, Jane dear."
Jane would come over to me, put a hand on my head and rub slightly, whilst making the strangest faces at me. That is also why I don't think she likes me – she makes strange faces at me and makes odd noises. She doesn't say her words, and I wonder if she has become less human.
When I told Smithy about this, he laughed at me.
"Of course Jane like you, Pig," He said, giving my belly an affectionate rub, "That thing she says is just a game she and I play."
"And the faces she pulls at me? And those noises?" I grunted at him. I was amazed that he could understand me, but he always had understood me, even when I was small.
"Those are affectionate things, Pig, she doesn't realise you're smarter, so she does that. It is how one would treat a pet." He gives me a tug on the ear.
"So she likes me?"
"Of course she does, Pig, but you know you are more than a pet to me, you're my best friend. I don't know what I would do without you."
"You're my best friend too, but please tell that the faces are strange. She can rub my ears or my snout, but please make her stop the faces."
"I'll do that, Pig." He said, patting me on the snout, before he continued his clanging.
. . .
A/N: This was short, but I liked it. Please review!
