Aftermath
(This is just an update to the latest chapter. I polished most of the rough spots and smoothed the edges a bit. I'll have a new chapter out sometime here.)
It's been a while, hasn't it? Summer came and I should have been updating at least once every week or two. But instead, I got lazy. Sorry for the excuses, there's no point really. But anyway it's time you got what you came for.

Moga
Kodah
Where the hell did they come from?!
All the second years were looking up at me, some with confusion, others with hate, and a few with admiration. But that wouldn't last.
'A Ceadeus would not be so easily defeated, Kodah. Don't let your guard down.'
Kodah mentally nodded. 'That's why I'm slightly worried with the other second years here.'
Mr. Thomas ran towards the group of second years, waving his arms in the air. "Get back!" He shouted, "It's too dangerous!"
It seemed that they were both right to be worried when a Moga hunter called out. "Uh, guys," He shouted, "it's coming back!" Time seemed to slow down as Kodah whipped around in time to see a high powered beam of water blast him full in the chest, sending him flying thirty feet below to the bottom of the wall.
Everything was moving in slow motion for Kodah as soon as he was blasted off the wall. He heard multiple voices shouting out, others screaming in fear and surprise, but everything was going so slowly that they were distorted and unrecognizable. As he looked back up, the grey eyed hunter could only watch helplessly as the other hunter on the wall was also blown off, shouting in fear as he fell. He could only imagine the other hunters' thoughts.
As he fell, Kodah reflected on his short life. He hadn't done enough. Sure he had achieved many things that others only dreamed about, but there were many firsts he still had to go through. 'This is a crappy ending,' he thought. 'You know what screw that. I'm not dying yet.'
'Nope.'
Then with a thud, Kodah's world exploded in pain.
Things went black for a second. Slowly things came back. Stars exploded in his vision, popping in and out of existence. His eyesight blurred, trying to blink past the pain. He felt himself being dragged by his armor straps, moving away from the wall. Multiple bones felt like they were broken, and blood was spilling down his head and into his eyes.
Suddenly a person was above him, a shadowy silhouette, lowering a hand to his chest then an ear to his lips. "Shit," The voice muttered, sounding distorted and far off like they were underwater. "Hey someone get over here, he's not breathing!"
'What?' Kodah thought confusedly. He was breathing wasn't he? But he felt no oxygen entering his lungs. 'Oh. Yeah, 'shit' is right.'
But this was soon remedied when he saw another feminine figure appear above him and crashed her lips against his, forcing air into his lungs. His eyes flew wide and he felt water flying up his throat as his lungs started again. The surprise was enough to get him going again, but the air was appreciated. Not breathing was not a fun experience.
But as soon as he was breathing again, the shadow picked Kodah up and started running farther away from the wall to the medical tent the 4th years had set up. He got a quick look around at the place, seeing students spread on beds and sleeping cloths, various bandages and salves on their wounds.
He felt himself being thrown down onto a cot, but not without care. His vision was still blurry but things were clearing up quickly due to Shi helping his healing process. This turned out to be one of the side effects of their souls bonding, along with his new strength.
When Kodah could finally see clearly again, he was looking up into the worried face of Ms. Kiera and the equally worried yet heavily blushing face of Rika. Kodak let out another cough as he propped himself up on his elbows. "The hell?" He muttered and quickly chugged a potion. "What happened?"
Ms. Kiera sighed and looked around at the other wounded students. "That Ceadeus came back after you blew up that barrel bomb in its face." She then looked directly at Kodah. "You got a full water blast to the everywhere and stopped breathing. Luckily, Ms. Harade was there to quickly revive you with a kiss." She finished with a devilish smile. If it was possible, Rika got even redder.
"N-n-no! It was just CPR!" She exclaimed, waving her arms in front of her.
Kodah felt his cheeks heat up slightly as well. Great now he was blushing, if only slightly. "Thanks," he said as he looked at Rika. She looked strangely cute when she was blushing. 'Wait what?' Shi was currently laughing like crazy in his subconscious, finding the two teen hunters' interactions amusing.
Ms. Kiera was feeling the same way and smirked at the two. "Alright, kiddies, stop flirting," more well and not-so-well hidden blushing, "and Kodah, you shouldn't move too much. You broke quite a few bones on that fall." She lightly pushed him back down on the cot. "But we also need to get the eff outta here so Rika if you would please grab the other end of the cot and help me carry this guy I would be very thankful."
Rika had spaced out and responded only seconds later. "Wha?" she shook her head. "O-oh yeah. J-just give me a second, Ms. Kiera." Rika grabbed the bottom of the cot and lifted it, helping her red haired teacher carry Kodah. Other hunters had already done the same, carrying their comrades away from the beach. Those that could stand ran.
Mr. Thomas ran at the front of the group of hunters. Despite being fifty-something years old, he was fast and formidable. But he knew when to run. "Everyone get to the village! A team of hunters from Loc Lac is coming to deal with the Ceadeus! Just get the village!" Everyone seemed to understand as they all ran faster. Kodah rolled his head to the left and right, seeing the others run by the three of them. For a quick second he saw Blake, a look of fear in his eyes. Kodah knew what the other hunter was going through, but he couldn't help but let a smirk cross his face. 'Whose useless now, asshole?'
He turned his head back towards the sky, watching the clouds float lazily in his jostling vision.
Later-shipbound to Loc Lac
Rika
It had been a few hours since the ships left Moga. They had gotten back to the village in time to meet the airship bringing in the hunter team tasked the take on the seemingly invincible elder dragon. Rika only got a quick sight of them before she was rushed onto one of two large ships and sent off to Loc Lac.
Most everyone was in the ship's mess hall, socializing, recapping and discussing recent events. Rika currently sat across from Macie, thinking of what to say. It was Macie who broke the silence.
"That was… intense." Macie looked up from the table, a look of fear still lingering in her eyes. "Is that what's really waiting out there for us once we graduate?"
Rika just shook her head. She didn't know what to think. It was all too much, at one time. She just needed a break for a little while. Out of the corner of her eye, Rika saw a 4th year approaching their table. She had chin length cream colored hair and deep green eyes. She was about 5'6 and was slightly larger than average for her age in her shape, which was slightly hidden by the poofy-ness of a set of Lagombi armor. On her back sat a lava core hammer.
"Hi," she said as she sat next to Rika, "That was some fight huh?" Neither Rika nor Macie responded. After a minute of silence, the air started to grow awkward. "Uh", the older girl awkwardly pushed through as she pulled on the collar of her armor. "Uh, my name is Abigail, and my classmates and I just wanted to reassure you that the monster hunting world isn't usually like that." She continued more confidently. "That wasn't a normal monster encounter, and don't expect one to ever pop up like that again." She sighed as the younger girls still didn't respond.
With a final sigh, Abigail got up from the table. "We'll be in Loc Lac in about a day or so. Rest up." With that she disappeared back into the crowd.
Back on the Deserted Island
A young man was kneeling on the ground, hands up in surrender as he shook and sweated in fear. "P-please Mr. Samuels sir, j-just give me another chance." He received a kick in the face as a response.
In front of him stood a tall 23 year old man clad in barioth armor, most of his face concealed by his helm, the only skin uncovered being his mouth, revealing a sinister smile. He clicked his tongue disapprovingly as he walked towards the young man's crumbled form. "Tsk tsk," He clucked, "I'm sorry but I think I've given you as many chances as I can." The Barioth clad man looked down past his subordinate's shoulder at the deceased corpse of a Cedaus as hunters carved off different bits down below. "Such a waste," he muttered, "Such power and grace, all gone."
The young man got back to his knees. "Please s-sir, just one more chance." The other man shook his head.
"Sorry buddy, it's nothing personal," He said as he advanced on the kneeling form. "It's just, well now you know our plan, but you have no further use." His sadistic smile grew as he advanced.
The other man shook in fear. "N-no p-p-please wait! Let me just PLEASE N-" The man was silenced as his neck was broken with a sickening snap. The White armored man shook his head sadly. "What a shame." He turned around quickly, leaving the body where it lay. "Oh girl," he purred to the shadows. "Time to eat." Out of the shadow of the cliff came a massive Barioth, lumbering slowly towards the body, dragging it slowly back into the shadows. A sickening rip followed by the crunch of bones filled the air as the monster ate it's snack. The man chuckled as he walked away, towards Moga village. "Eat quick girl," he called over his shoulder, "We have plans to fulfill."
One antagonist reveals himself! So things start to pick up as the hunters move on to Loc Lac, and things will only speed up from here on. If you have five minuets then shoot me a review. If you don't then oh well. Until next time, tschuse.
